My experience with quality/quantity and an Indian owned company.

I worked for an offshore owned company where it was all about quantity. Company even kept a HORRIBLE MT just because she cranked out the lines. Didn't matter her quality was crap and was considered a joke by middle managment. India did most typing but with US edit. Typists changed regularly so it wasn't like they learned to do better. Quality would improve slightly and then would notice, after couple of months, that quality was crap again so we knew we were dealing with a new batch of typists. Even so, the push was always on to get the jobs off US edit and send Indian work straight to client. Of course, the clients never knew they were not getting US editing anymore, as they got no price reduction when they no longer had that level of work being done on their jobs. The problem is the facilities accept the crap work so why should the companies change. It took a while but I finally found a US owned company where quality matters. Now one of the first questions I would ask a prospective employer is if they are US owned.

Through your years of experience you care more about quality I bet than quantity
This happened to me after midcareer that is after about 15 years. I started caring about the patient more than my paycheck. This might have cost me a lot of dough, and I can't afford fancy extras much anymore. But, I can sleep at night knowing I put the right gender of the patient with the difficult ESL dictating. I do not know you, but I just bet that your 1200 is a really good 1200.
INDIA, INDIA, NEWBIE LOOKING FOR INDIAN-OWNED COMPANY-FORGET AMERICA COMPANIES HIRING NEWBIES!!!!
Our country sucks when it comes to teamwork. My experience is in hospital transcription and 95% foreign dictators. Most of my dictators are from India and surrounding countries. Give up you all, India is already way ahead of us!
quantity vs quality
Hey y'all, it's a buyers market out there. There a tremedous demand for transcriptionists. Just move on. Things are going to continue to change quickly in transcription over the next few years. Everybody hates change, but try to embrace it for a while, it'll put you in the catbird seat.
Some people put out quantity, some put out quality and
there are very few who can do both. If you produce a quality product you shouldn't be penalized for not putting out more lines. It is sort of like the bonuses, in order to get more $$ you have to work more - like dangling a carrot. 99% of the other companies don't pay this way and manage to make a living.
Quantity versus quality
I did an internship recently at a local hospital in Michigan. I kept hearing the supervisor say to the transcriptionists to type faster, type faster. I could not believe the mistakes in the reports. When I brought this up to the manager, she would look at the mistakes, and say go on to the next report. The mistakes were never even fixed. The worst part was that the manager of the transcription department was the QA, and she wasn't even a medical transcriptionist!!!
Quantity versus quality
If the company wants shoddy work, let them keep outsourcing to foreign countries. If they get sued, they deserve it. The office where I work will shortly be sending our work to India and doing away with us. I saw a few reports from India, and they can't even spell our doctors' names correctly. Their grammar is awful, not to mention the terminology. Quality no longer counts, and I no longer want to work for companies that don't care about quality They can take transcription and India and shove it!
Your not alone...Quantity not quality is the focus today!

Is that still Indian owned by Jay?

Indian owned companies... sm
Have you ever worked for one? I have. All the easy work goes to India. The junk comes to the US-based MTs. I worked there for 2 years until I could take no more. Should have walked out on training. If you want an Indian-based company so badly, go for it. I can tell you first hand, though, you will eventually regret it. No offense intended, but I have lived it and will NEVER work for an Indian-owned company again, even if I have to leave transcription and go back to the office, God forbid!
Yes, not only are they Indian owned & offshore, they are horribly rude.
I had the worst experience when a male worker verbally attacked me in a very chauvenistic manner.
Do you use a personally owned VR or is it with the company?? sm
Would like to know what VR programs are good for personal purchase.
I would worry about them on any puter owned by a company

Too bad companies don't pay by QUALITY instead of experience. nm

All ForuMatrix forums are owned by the same company. The songs that were
posted on the Holiday/Recipe forum were posted erroneously and have been removed.

Indian Company
Having been a part of an office of six transcriptionists who lost their job to a local service who has "allegedly" sent work to India, I would rather have been let go due to voice recognition. That would not have hurt so bad. The work that was returned from the service had mistakes that I would think were typical of those from inexperienced typists!
Only know its an Indian company.

Zydoc is an Indian company. nm

They are an Indian company and they doc you for your errors.

appears to be an Indian based company. SM
doing a search for Spectramedi and India, you will find the following link. Make your decision, but I won't work for a company who has affiliation with any overseas company or employs overseas workers. Their website shows they are based out of New York, but this India link indicates they do business in India. This is only my opinion based on my internet search.

Pretty sure "we" are an Indian company.
This is what the company I used to work for did, they would send 2000 or so lines to a company for a trial and then gradually increase the work they sent to them, if it worked out.
the history? nothing.. he is just advertising an Indian MT company and board

company quality down...
Would you stay with a company that is getting multiple complaints from a client? I work on as an IC for a company and the account I am on is recieving complaints about quality of reports and MTs not following formats, ect. I'm trying to decide if I should stay on with the company or find work elsewhere. My work has never come into question and my QA scores are always higher than required. I'm not sure I want to stay on though with a group that apparently is not doing a proper job. Apparently the client has requested several specific MTs to be taken off the account and is threatening more if things are not fixed.
Would you stay or go?
The company that I edit for the ONLY quality MT we have is from India..that's pretty sad!!

and accrording to my physical therapist whose company uses them, the quality stinks royal
X
Hahah!a! Funny typo: not quality 'scAre', quality 'scOre'. LMAO!...nm
nm
OK, just sounded a lot like my experience with a company there. nm

I think that depends on the quality. Do you honestly think there is good quality just throwing every
MT on any account like they are. I also think QA has been told to not waste a lot of time on blanks so I think the hospitals are getting a lot more blanks. I certainly have more when I get in a hospital I dont know and they talk 100 miles an hour.
I thought quality was a given. Speed and quality are not mutually exclusive. sm
I maintain 99% accuracy above on my reports. However, the original question was regarding personal preference, and I have stated mine, and I respect your opinion as well. :-) I do think if I was working in an office or hospital setting, the setup you mentioned might be more profitable in the long run. There are too many interruptions and such when you have other people running in and out, phones ringing, etc.
I doubt that anyone but me really cares about the lines per hour it takes for me to do a report. They just want an accurate report in a timely manner. I take pride in my work, and would never just slop something out for the sake of the almighty buck. And, as an added incentive, I work for 2 companies, and one of them has my name on each report. I don't have a problem with it, but I did think it was a bit unusual at first.
Oh well ... I must confess that what I'd TRULY like is to be paid lots of money to just sit and play Battle Phlinx on Pogo all day long, but as of yet, no such luck.
Company suggestions for 1 year experience
Does anyone have any suggestions for companies (nice companies) that will except 1 year exp., just got burnt real bad by SS

In my experience, every company I have worked has only edited
reports that I send to them with blanks or questions, which is probably less than 5%. From reading these boards, I get the impression most of the work from India needs to be edited. So you would think if it needs so much editing, it would not worth it. But maybe not. Who knows - we'll just have to see. If doctors complain about the quality that would probably slow the offshoring down.
True, but unfortunately QA is all about quantity now too.

Owned for years
It is possible to own a home and I have owned 4 in the past 8 years. What I would do if your not sure (its advice my dad gave me many years ago) is try to buy something that would have payments in the range that you would have to pay if you paid rent. Then you know you can afford it. Either way, you have to live somewhere, whether it be renting or buying. Then once you find it easy to make those payments in a few years, you can sell and buy something a little bigger and nicer. Just a little advice that has helped me in the past. Hope it helps!
No. Owned by a woman.

I never knew who owned it before all this went down.

Have you ever owned a laptop?
The single biggest selling feature of a laptop is that they are...wait for it...portable. So much the same way I don't leave any valuable laying on the table when I go to the bathroom, my very portable laptop goes in with me. When I am in what I feel a safe, secure, environment to leave it at the table/desk, I time it so I am not in the middle of a report and close the lid, thereby requiring the password to get back into it. It does not require a degree in IT to take safety precautions.
MDI-Florida is owned by Transcend....sm
but is run as a separate company. MDI-MD is a separate company not owned by Transcend.

American Hospital in Paris is owned and run by the French...........they named it when they were still liking us.........*LOL*
MT Co owned by Hospital corp.?
How many MT companies are owned by hospital corporations or the hospital corp have a piece of MT companies? I ask this because some hospitals are only allowed to use certain MT companies. Is this a way of keeping wages down and/or them getting more $? Isn't there some kind of rule where doctors can't refer patient to a facility that they have part ownership of. Shouldn't this apply also?
Just wondering
ForuMatrix is owned by MTStars. (SM)
If you have complaints about ForuMatrix or about how MTStars is operating, etc., address them via e-mail to the Administrator (admin@mtstars.com) or myself (goldbird@mtstars.com).
Thank you,
Goldbird
Yes, it is still owned by Jay. Is this just for information or to goad that

We are a small, family-owned
company with all MTs and most management being ICs. There are only a handful of people in management and there are no bonuses for them. I personally work here because it's an amazing place to work - nothing else. We'd simply like to have a small reward for quarterly reviews to encourage accuracy. That's it. No hidden agenda or big, mean corporate people.
Thanks for your response, though!
That's right, not American owned anymore.
YES IT IS OWNED BY A PAKISTANI DOCTOR. HE OR
SOME ONE ELSE KEEPS DELETING THE POSTS. I WILL KEEP AT IT THOUGH. GO TO MTSTARS.NET FOR ANSWERS.
No it hasn't. It's still owned by Ahmed
The money is owned no matter what you are
the question was whether you are employee or IC as very different approaches would be made to recover $$
