Norton antivirus program
If my Norton antivirus program expires, will it still work but just not allow me to get updates, or will it stop working altogether? I was hoping to wait until the weekend to install a new one.
She had an ectopic pregnancy. They were showing everything that happened in the past. Next week it
Norton Internet Security does this. Costs the same as Norton AV and includes it.
has a user list, which you, as administrator, can have password protected so users cannot change the list. What we do is put on sites that we approve. Anything else has to be done on the laptop in view...
You can buy Internet Security every year anytime from Jan through April tax time, and get rebates. Just as cheap as NAV and includes it, as I said.
email me and please tell me what happened - sm
I am in a location that I cannot get HBO for six weeks. dalicb@aol.com
I've just got to know !!
Thanks
On my way to a Bible study. When I arrived, the other gals there had no idea what had happened. sm
I couldn't even find the words to explain - it was a little after 9. I was listening to, like the poster below, Bob and Sheri (on my way to Bible study - go figure) and Bob and Sheri were in a mood I had never, ever heard before. Very solmen. Describing word for what what they SAW. I didn't even know they were in NYC.
Anyways, I had to pull over as I started bawling. My younger son had taken an accompanied minor flight just a few days prior to that out of Dulles, so this hit quite close to home.
Anyways, we heard while in our Bible study (we decided to meet and pray for our country) about the other flights, but not flt. 93. We heard about that when our local newspaper (a giant) had people walking around McDonalds handing out FREE newspapers around 12 o'clock with pics and everything. The last time that newspaper did that was probably after JFK got shot. We were all scrambling for a paper which I still own to this day.
I remember my 9 year old son reading it in his room (I left it out like a dummie) and he cried like a baby for all those people on those flights who died. The WTC accident got to him the hardest. He still talks about it to this day. Tragic.
I don't know about you, but I do fear another attack like this again. It's hard not to.
can you use Firefox with Norton? I have Norton, but some popups still get through. nm

Why do you pay for Norton when
you can get AVG for free and it constantly updates itself.....?
Norton v. AVG
Go with Norton. Do the research. It's worth every dime.
Norton
I have Windows XP, service pack 2. Norton works fantastic. It catches everything. I do remember having trouble with downloading at first. Just uninstall and try again. You'll be glad you did. Run Ad-Aware and Spybot every few days and you're good-to-go.
Norton
There's a difference between the free version of Norton/AVG and the pay-for-it versions. I paid $50 for Norton 2005. With AVG or Norton, I believe you need to pay for it to get the protection you need.
Norton
Even if you uninstall it, Norton "knows" you had it in your computer, and it won't re-start itself. When you go to hook up to the internet to do the updates, it won't work. In my experience, the only way to get Norton again for free is to reformat your hard drive. You kinda have to know what you are doing and it is a big pain in the neck. You have to have all your programs on disk to be re-installed, and all files backed up on disc... but it does work. I did it a couple of times and I saved about $100 in doing so, but I really had nothing on my computer to mess up, so I went for it. I would definitely go for the free programs you can find on the net first!!!
Norton
Norton Utilities has a program called WinDoctor that does the same thing and it's awesome.
AVG Antivirus
I agree - AVG Antivirus is great - I actually have the pro version, which has a few more bells and whistles, but the free version is great too - mine runs an update every morning and scans my entire hard drive once a week and I never even notice - it also does a registry scan on startup, so you don't load anything onto your system when you turn your computer on - it's great!
Antivirus
It works great! No headaches like with Nortons. It runs and you don't even know it.
Norton vs. McAfee..which best?sm
Just got a new laptop that came with McAfee..now they are offering me subscription for half price...$69.00...I've always used Norton before and wondering if there is any difference.
Antivirus software
I used to buy my software directly on the internet, but found that AVG is free, was highly recommended by many tech guys, and I have it running on two computers in the house. Catches all of the new viruses, so I don't have to worry about spending all that money on antivirus software. Try it. Goggle it to find the free software, as it updates on a daily basis and it scans your computer any time you want it to.
perhaps your antivirus or antispam?

Antivirus 2009
You are so right...it was entirely my fault...I definitely will be more careful from now on! I downloaded the Malwarebytes antivirus and it has partially removed it, but it is still blocking my IE, not sure how to get rid of this but I will keep trying.
Thank you so much for your help.
Antivirus programs sm
On my personal computer, I seem to have picked up some kind of virus. I keep getting popups all over the place and one of them is telling me that I have viruses and I should purchase their program to remove them, which I don't want to do because that program is likely a virus in sheep's clothing. I was running AVG (the free program) but apparently it did not stop whatever bug I picked up.
My questions are: 1. If I purchase an antivirus program (from Walmart or Staples, for example), will this remove whatever has already taken up residence on my PC?
2. What is the best virus program for the money on the market?
Thanks in advance!
antivirus for vista
Thanks for your input!
I just keep Norton I suppose and never checked into anything else.

Thanks, will do. About 3 nights ago my Norton caught
Did you notice the Feb 3 date? That would be this coming Friday. Wonder how our various transcription companies are going to fare? ugh. I hope they don't crash.
My Norton or my Outlook Express? (sm)
For some reason, for the last 2 or 3 days, when I am sending an email, that little Norton box that pops up is taking a long time to appear, like maybe about 15 seconds or so. It used to be as soon as I hit "send." Is this a problem with my email or my Norton? and is it a big deal? Just wondering why the change. Thanks
My Norton subscription is about to expire.
I can't afford that $40 renewal fee right now. What can I do?
HP/Quicken/Norton outsource
I agree. My printer/fax machine died and had to get a new one. There was a piece in the way so that I could not get the ink in, so had to call Customer Service. Two hours later, with understanding only 1/3 of what he said, I finally got the information I needed. My computer crashed on me (not a good year), had to call HP and Norton, both of which use India for their Customer Service - finally went and bought a new computer as got no help. Couldn't get my Quicken loaded, so called the help desk, and guess what! He was not understanding my question/problem at all. It's like I cannot get into that part or I would not be asking for help! Finally, a friend of mine helped me and got into it so I could do a backup to restore my data. I am sick of this so-called "service", and sure hope American companies, hospitals in particular catch on soon before our whole world crashes down on us.
Obviously it is not fixed if Norton keeps detecing it...
mine keeps detecting it as well. It will stop for a couple of days and then start in again.
I would like to know what the "glitch" is exactly...
Unfortunately showing my age here, but
Yul Brynner was always the greatest to me!! Just wish he was still alive!!! What a sexy man!!!!!
showing my age
I was only 7 when it came out (just checked), so it's just now becoming a classic for me (he, he, he).
And I'm really glad it wasn't meant to be mean.

KVMs $20-60. One internet connection. You'd have no email or a 2nd email acct for your 2nd puter.

I don't understand. I didn't get email from MT Stars, I got email from offshore people
is what I'm talking about. I'm not a liar and take offense to your insinuation.
What kind of antivirus do you use on your computer? sm
I have been using Norton AV, but my nephew (who goes to ITT Tech) says that I can just use AVG which is a free download antivirus....Im just not sure what to do. The tech guy I normally use is the one who said Norton. Anyone here use the free downloadable antiviruses or do you get better protection with the "paid" for antiviruses? Thanks.
I doubt that, they use antivirus all the time. NM

question about antivirus software
I have always purchased my antivirus software online and downloaded it onto my computer. If I buy the software, say at Sam's Club or anywhere, can it be loaded onto numerous computers? I have 4 networked in my home and all are going to be running out of protection soon. In other words if I only have to buy it once that would be great. TIA
your antivirus program may be blocking them,--nm

Is your antivirus program up to date
and a really good one because I'm thinking it sounds like you have a virus. I got a virus on my computer even though I had a Norton antivirus program running on it. There are so many new viruses that come out all the time it's hard for the antivirus programs to keep up with them. Maybe you should install a different antivirus programs/sypware CD than the one on your computer. Just a thought
Beware of Antivirus 2009
While working late at night, I had something pop up that I thought was a MS product called Antivirus 2009, and thinking it was an update on their security, without checking it out, I clicked ok, then at the end, it states it costs $59...and I realized that it was not MS, so I backed out of it. I currently have AVG 8.0 and it has always done a good job for me...but now after several days and asking several different places, plus the Internet, I cannot get rid of this. It seems to be tied into my Google site, the one I use so much.
Does anyone know how you get rid of it? I removed the software (or so I thought) from my program) but it is blocking Google, and just keeps popping up constantly...driving me absolutely nuts.
Does anyone know of a solution to get rid of this? I hate to pay a techie to come out to my house to get rid of this, but I will if I have to...just thought I would ask here first.
Thank you for your help.
Beware of Antivirus 2009
AVG is great and not a resource "hog' like McAfee or Norton -- I have had computer problems in the past, and have dealt with Hiwired.com -- they are inexpensive, ALL USA-based techs and great people to work with -- they understand the MT and if you need a progam completely erased and you tell them as such, they will do it -- I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with Adobe and could NOT get files to load that were in that format -- they got it cleared up and no problems but almost every "tekkie" person including them, that I have talked to has recommended AVG
I am running antivirus softwre sm
and I am not working right now. The problem hs been going on for a couple months. I cleaned out my computer and it helped alot of other things, but not this problem. Thanks for the reply.
I would not bet on free antivirus programs,
that's how one usually gets some viruses in.
Download
McAfee
or
Norton.
Nothing good is for free....
for TechSupport: Do you think that free antivirus
programs ar safe?
It sounds like a setting in your Norton firewall.

They can send an email that goes to all MTs in one shot. I think she just means a courtesy email
would be nice. MQ is not getting any easier. My account has been picked over thoroughly when it went on DQS by ASR and I get all the remains because they only have a core group doing ASR which I think is wrong because you get all the bad dictators and it would be nice to be acknowledged that at least you know the person you can discuss problems with as they crop up. This is a big one and we have no manager anymore and no one to discuss this with at all in my office so you just sit here very day doing this work and no way to vent to someone that could offer some suggestions on this and other issues that come up to help relieve some of the stress of working this way.
Just send an email to the email link inside the post.

you are showing your IGNORANCE
Apparently that is all you have gained from 'getting out, living and learning'.
Knowledge of God is the beginning of wisdom.
I hope you truly 'get smart' by the time you have to give an account for all you have done and not done to the One that made you.
What? How in the world can you say that? I AM showing
compassion. Yes, I'm a mother. I can't pat her on the back and try to settle her. She seemed upset. I was trying to soothe her irritation, literally.
I think you have taken me wrong. I'm very tender with my babies and I thought I was coming across that way to the post above as well.
Gee, I'm sorry if she took that wrong.
I think I did not speak clearly about the just showing up MTs
If a company hires only ICs, then they cannot expect them to work except for the times they want.
Typing less than 100 lines a day is not pocketchange because of the pay.
I don't want to worry about the IRS showing
up on my doorstep, so I have my taxes done by H&R Block. No guarantee that you still won't have problems with IRS, but it makes me feel better. I don't claim my house/utilities. I don't claim nickel and dime stuff either.
When my mother died exactly a week later I get a letter from the IRS stating she owed $25,000.00 - no explanation. I was freaking, not only was I grieving but having to worry about this. I wrote a very nice letter, sent them a copy of her death certificate, and said I thought the issue was a roll-over of an IRA. My mom didn't have much money and I knew that she had rolled over one so I was just guessing. They sent me a letter a couple of weeks later saying the situation had been resolved and no monies due. I don't know what the problem was, but 5 years later I still have that letter.
