Most comfortable chairs.

Okay.  So, I have gone through two chairs trying to find a truly comfortable one and I am just not having any luck.  I believe because I am constantly trying to adjust myself to get comfortable in my chair, it affects my productivity.  My rear end starts to hurt and my tailbone will get sore when I shift.   I am just so tired for the search for a comfy chair.  So, would you all mind sharing with me a fairly economical comfortable chair preference?

Thank you so much,

Comfortable Chairs?
Anyone have any ideas for comfortable chairs, affordable comfortable chairs? I've been looking for a good chair and can't seem to find one.
Chairs!
Need opinions on Steelcase Leap Chair. Please. Thank you.
Chairs

Hello,

I would not reccomend sitting on a ball for the whole day. I know there has been a lot of hype around using exercise balls as seating but it actually causes stress on your back rather then creating "good posture". Also, it is not natural for the back to be in constant "good posture". The besy posture is to constantly re-position to create movement and comfort in the spinal cord.

Yes the Aeron chair is expensive but a great chair. I work at Herman Miller so I'm lucky enough to sit in one all day. You can get a base Aeron for around $600CAD. Not everyone needs all of the add on features which brings up the price.

I'm not a big fan of the foam and fabric chairs because they tend to trap dust, dirty easily and can smell over time. I also don't like that foam and fabric chairs don't breathe.

If any of you are looking for an Aeron or any other herman miller product, feel free to e-mail me and I can quote it out for you. shannon_fitzpatrick@hermanmiller.com

Take care,

Shannon

Mesh chairs??
Was wondering about the new mesh chairs, has anyone tried one? Pillow doesn't help, have tried that. I've got some serious saddle sores from sitting all day.
Mesh chairs
Herman Miller Aeron Chair, wouldn't work without it, changed my working comfort completely, no sore butt and no back pain.
Suggestions for chairs?? sm

I'm trying to find a chair that is comfortable all day (and sometimes part of the night) long.  I know some of you here have had the same problem.  Suggestions, please???

Thanks!

Balls instead of chairs - Hahaha

Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone is tired of sitting in the same old chair everyday while they work.  I've seen this "tip" before but never bothered to try it until recently.

I purchased one of those large inflatable exercise balls and use it instead of a chair.  It's a very refreshing change.  I did have to learn to balance a bit because in a chair you can move around, even when you're not aware of it, and the chair is stable but the ball isn't.  It also helps me keep better posture, is easier on the low back/sacrum, and I think it is helping my abdomen because you are working your abdominals and legs while sitting there.

Anyway, it was worth a try for me.  I may not use it all the time but it is a great change.

Base for the ball chairs
I actually bought my exercise ball/chair through ebay and it came with a base which has a small back support as well as wheels.  It works out great.
Herman Miller chairs
Thanks for your advice. Both replies to my email suggested this chair, and one of my neighbors did, as well. I guess I'll have to see if the neighbor will let me come over and sit in it for a while, so I can be sure. I can't afford ANY chair right now (now 'til my production improves, as all my accounts are new to me right now), but I figured in the meantime I'd start shopping around so I'd know what I want someday when I DO have some money.
great comfy chairs
Hi!  There are office chairs by Herman Miller that offer great comfortable chairs designed for people that sit most of the day.  They are expensive starting from $500 and up.  I got the middle of the line and I have to tell you that I don't mind sitting now and worth every penny.  I still take my breaks but this chair is like heaven.  they flex with the movement of the person.  you can also go to cns.com for a full description and ordering.  you would not regret it!
Back pain and chairs.
Go for the pillows. I tried to splurge a while ago and get a new chair, took it back and got a new pillow. I use a thin pillow for my bottom and a nice orthopedic pillow for my back. I'm tempted to try the keyboard on my lap like I've seen suggested here but my husband just brought me a new keyboard tray from a teardown job he was doing that sells for almost 200.00. I think he'd be hurt if I didn't try it.
I get to take 2 Herman Miller chairs to try!
No one in my neck of the woods sells these things, except for a place 200+ miles away.  This business supply place, however, regularly makes trips out my way to set up office furniture and said they have demo chairs they would be happy to let me test out for 2 weeks at no charge!  So, I have an Aeron and Mirra Chair here in my little office and I'll be putting in a full week's work on each one!  So, if you have wanted to try one of these chairs but not pay for it before making a decision, I HIGHLY recommend just asking if you can test drive a demo one for a week or two.  I honesly had no idea they did such a thing so I just thought I'd share the fact that it is possible!
You might get more comfortable with it and you

might be able to feed your kids, but think of all the time you spent doing all that crap when you could have been producing lines.   I worked for YOG years ago and their demographics screen was EXTREMELY time consuming and probably added at least an hour to my workday that I wasn't getting paid for.

Change is harder for some and it takes a month or more sometimes to get a real feel for things, but I know there are better platforms and don't understand why if one company can come up with as easy platform, then why can't the others too.

They look comfortable, but how do you (sm)
use a foot pedal with the knee chair?
3 office chairs in a year??? What are you doing? Aerobics in them??

Aeron, Mira, Celle Chairs - Anyone Have One? (sm)
Does anyone use an Aeron, Celle, or Mira chair by Herman Miller and are they worth the price?  Many thanks for any info.
Office Depot has chairs on display U can try before you buy. sm
Got mine there over 5 years ago, fully adjustable, I think it was $129, still good.
Can we talk about headphones/keyboards/chairs
and other ergonomic products that help you all do your job more productively and comfortably?

I still use the basic headset MQ supplies; however, I'm wondering if there is something better, not too expensive, that produces a bit better sound and a bit more comfort.  I'm thinking it might help out with some of the not-so-great sounding dictation and/or ESL dictators.  What type of headset do you use and why?

What keyboards do you all use and how do you like them?   I have a Microsoft Natural Ergo and I use a slight reverse tilt.  I find that angle feels a bit better on the wrists.

Does anyone have one of those desks that you can raise/lower?  Sometimes the ol' bum goes to sleep and I'm thinking standing up at times would help.

What about foot pedals/foot rests?  I actually have 2 foot pedals so I can switch legs quick w/o reaching down and dragging the foot pedal back and forth.

Thanks for any and all of your opinions!

Know of any good chairs for back pain?
I have been using a $20 task chair from Wal-Mart for the past three years, I am sitting her now six months pregnant about ready to die from upper and lower back pain.  Anyone have suggestions for a good quality chair they like, right now money is not an option,  I would pay big $$$ for just a little relief.
Herman Miller Aeron Chairs
As a side note, for the tailbone pain, I bought a coccyx cushion and I don't have the pain whatsoever anymore. It's wonderful.
Most comfortable chair please!
I am on a quest for a new office chair.  Cannot afford the Aeron.  Any other comparable ones out there????? Thanks!
Do what YOU feel comfortable doing. It's your day.
good luck
Is is very comfortable there where u live?...nm

Comfortable Chair?
Any suggestions on a COMFORTABLE office chair with good lumbar support that doesn't cost $600?  Thanks!
comfortable chair
I cannot afford an expensive chair, so went to Staples, got a leather chair, high back and arms, adjustable back and seat, ergonomically correct and it works for me. I have sciatica and neck and shoulder problems and this chair works fine - I paid 100.00 for it on sale.
comfortable chair
Hi - I found a great chair from the Hon company, their model 7608 from the Unanimous series. This chair retails for about $500, but many online dealers carry it for under $350. It's a quality chair and everything on it is adjustable - seat depth, back tilt and height, arm heighth and width, etc...

I'm really enjoying mine and got it from CSNchairs.com for $349.

Good luck!
Comfortable headphones
I get a headache from my Spectra headphones if I use them for an extended time. My old ones (Sony?) did not have that problem, but the sound was not great and now they are broken anyhow. Suggestions as to something that would not put much pressure on the ears/head, but would have decent sound quality for digital dictation? (no earbuds)
I can't get comfortable when I am working
Maybe it is my setup.  The chair is old and weird-shaped, and the desk is awkward.  Any suggestions on equipment/furniture that will help me out?  I have a nice ergonomic keyboard, but other than that I'm so uncomfortable..  Plus, I don't have that much money.  What options would I have with a laptop?  What are some good chairs?
Comfortable chair
I am in search of a comfortable office chair.  I need one without armrests because I get "elbow burn".  The one I have now is worn out.  It keeps losing air and before the night is over I am practically sitting on the floor and have to readjust it.  Any suggestions?  May I ask what you have, the cost, and where you purchased it?  TIA
So you'd be comfortable hearing
that you have an eye disease like glaucoma or retinal detachment or cataracts or diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration, which will render you blind in time? Come on, eyes and teeth and feet and all the other parts are all protected by HIPAA, silly!
mesh chairs.....you need to email or find Hayseed.
She test sat 2 chairs from Herman Miller in the last couple of weeks or so. she would be the one who could give you the skinny on them.
Yes, a larger font would be more comfortable. Thx! nm

Is anyone out there that is heavy truly comfortable with their body? sm

I have had a struggle with weight my entire life. As we speak now I am on Weight Watchers.  I don't want to be model thin because I know that is never happening and some people aren't made to be that way.  I am tall, an inch from being 6'.  Before when I look at pictures I am thinking "Hey, I was not so bad.  I DID carry my weight well."  But during those times I thought I was horrible.  Now, just topped the scale to 300 and I am scared to death!  In the past year, since working from home and being depressed, I have put on an easily 50 lbs.  I weigh more than I weighed with being 9 months pregnant with my son.

Anyway, I know for my health I need to get my weight down.  But the question is - if you are heavy, how do you feel good about yourself and your body, enough to let that stress go so you can focus on other things in life?  This consumes my every thought.  Sometimes I think I need to see a psychiatrist to get this matter resolved.

I pray daily and ask God to help.  I feel if I can learn to have a better self image of myself that I CAN conquer this goal and lose the weight.

Tips please....I don't look at other heavy women as ugly and fat.  A lot of people I couldn't imagine being thin, yet they look great!  I just wish I could picture myself that way.

BTW - in the almost 6 years my husband and I have been married, he has NEVER seen my naked, even when I wasn't so heavy.  It is always "give me the covers, turn out the lights" and never intimate without clothes on.  I want real intimacy.  I want to feel good about myself. How do I achieve this while in the process of losing weight?

I agree with other poster -- it's your day and you should be comfortable and do exactly what you
want -- You could go with a simple headpiece with no veil.  I have seen one woman married in a very simple tiara which was beautiful.
Me too! I'd love a new comfortable chair (nm)
s
Problem is they ALL feel comfortable
when trying them out in a store. You have to test drive it for a 4-hour stint to get the real feel of a work chair. That's how it is for me, anyway.
comfortable chair/bad back
I know this sounds unlikely but when my standard office chair broke some months ago in the middle of my shift, I removed my $7 K-mart canvas "camp" chair (used for fishing trips and picnics) from its drawstring canvas bag and, unbelievably, this has been the best, most comfortable chair I've had in years! The only drawback, of course, is that it is not on rollers/casters, but it is so lightweight, it's easy to maneuver around. I know it sounds strange but it has been just a blessing for my back & rear.
I weigh 290, am 5ƍ" and totally comfortable...sm
with my body. I've been overweight since I was a child. I've lost the weight several times over the past 30+ years but didn't maintain it long because I do enjoy eating. I work out at the gym 4 times a week. I got married this summer to a wonderful man that loves me for who I am and doesn't care that I'm fat. I have no problems with being naked in front of him. He is about 15 pounds overweight so he's basically at a good weight.

I have yearly physicals done and my labs always look great. I've read many articles/research studies showing that it's actually safer for an overweight person to stay at their weight than to go up and down the scales because yo-yo dieting isn't good on the body. I'm quite content with the way I look. I do anything I want to do. I don't get it while some people think that if you're fat you don't have energy. I have tons of energy - and each time I've lost weight it didn't increase my energy. I basically do whatever I want to do and enjoy life each day.
I've owned cheaper chairs and learned the hard way.

The old saying that you get what you pay for is true when it comes to these cheap chairs! My back always hurt and I was having to buy a new chair at least yearly. You do the math; I've already had the $1000 chair five years and I quit having the backaches five years ago. This chair is no where close to wearing out and will last me at least another five years, probably more. So, if you think that spending $200 every year on a cheap chair is worth it, you go right ahead; I didn't hear anything but thanks for the OP for my suggestion.

I've heard they are comfortable, though never tried one. Wasn't sure how
I would be able to use my foot pedal with it.
Well, then how come people could live comfortable on one income back then? huh?
x
After years of sitting in "cheap" chairs, I bought an Aeron chair and it was worth it!!
.
Don't give dates. Just summarize your experience. I'm perfectly comfortable with this.
Heading out of town, you guys all have fun while I'm gone!
Good point. I guess if you do not feel comfortable dislosing sm

a list of your clients to your subcontractors, you could only hold them liable if they try to contract work with the clients they know about, i.e. whichever accounts they work on.  If you have accounts with Hospitals A, B, C, and D, but the MT only works for and knows about Hospital A, then seems like she would be within her rights to solicit work from the others since she does not know they are your clients.  I am curious, though, if you have them sign a noncompete clause already and they are working for you, why would you be reluctant to share that information with them?  They would be bound by the contract.  Maybe I am missing something .. I usually do (ha).

Hope you figure out a solution to your dilemma.  :-)

Morency board and Kinesis keyboard along with comfortable chair
Hi, I have been doing transcription for 14 years and about 4 years ago purchased a Kinesis keyboard and Morency arm rest board and they have been a lifesaver.  The key to a comfortable chair is one you can adjust the height, back, seat, etc and once you get it comfortable make sure no one changes it ! Some chairs have arm rests if you don't get a Morency board and help out.
I've heard you can normally expect about 3 months before you feel comfortable on a new account. n

Wear scrubs, they're comfortable and you fell like you getting dressed for work See message.
Go to a local scrub shop, you can get a big bag full for about 100 bucks
Hayseed - What's the latest on the Mira and Aeron chairs? Did you get to try out the Aeron chair

The butterfly type back support?  Can't remember the exact name for it.  Do you think the chairs are worth the money?   Thanks.

It's just what you're comfortable with and what you're used to.
