I don't work on DQS but I do travel/camp and work.
A lot of campgrounds have some type of internet hookup and more and more are getting WiFi. If you know where you are going to stay you can call and ask them what they have. If you don't have a place picked yet, get a Travel Life directly. It lists campgrounds by state and then city with all the amenities they offer. I would still call to verify what internet setup they have. Not all campgrounds are in the directory because it is a pay listing, but it should help you. The directory costs about $20.00 and can be found at most camping stores. Don't know if B&N would also have it. You can search on-line too, just a bit more time consuming.
Mine were school age sm
when I started working at home. They learned at that early age that they were to come and stand quietly beside me until I finished a sentence or whatever point I could break my concentration and I would then give them whatever time they needed. Now, if I could only teach my 2nd husband to do the same. We'll be married 13 years next month and he still hasn't figured out when I'm working. I must be slipping....I had my first one trained in 30 days.
I would never have been able to work at home with my four 2-year-apart children, that is if I expected to make any money.
Private School here for mine.

Mine was tested at 148 in school. After they found out & leaked it -- (s/m)
-- to my parents, it kinda messed up my life. Was yanked out of classes with all my friends, where I was comfortable, and put into "Gifted" classes with a bunch of older kids I didn't know, & who resented my being there. Unfortunately, high IQ doesn't necessarily mean "mature"! I was kind of a nervous, skittish kid, and even if I could already read by the time I got to school, there were other simple things I hadn't yet mastered. I went from loving school to detesting it, and spent too much time drawing & daydreaming in class. So, when I struggled in those areas I was weak at, I got labelled as an "under-achiever", which didn't exactly thrill my parents. That label, combined with my dislike of these new classes (and this was back in the 50s and 60s, when they didn't know how to teach, anyway!) I started living up to that new label. Soon I was at the other end of the scale, getting shuttled into lots and lots of study halls because I was failing as many as 3 classes per semester in highschool. I graduated by the skin of my teeth, with no goals whatsoever. My parents just assumed I would somehow go to a 4-year college. And I just assumed I wouldn't! Fortunately my strong points were English and typing, so at least I was employable. But I didn't really have the social skills needed for most secretarial and receptionist jobs, and didn't have the degrees necessary to get any better jobs. After bouncing from job to job (some lasting only 2 months, some as little as 2 days), I finally just happened to STUMBLE ONTO medical transcription. It was a good fit, but even though I've now been doing it for a long, long time, to this day my friends and family wonder when I'm going to get a "real" job. I just smile and tell them that will most likely be when hell freezes over.
POLL: Home School vs. Charter School vs. Public School vs. Priv ate School...
Pros and cons of each too. I have two little ones that will be starting school soon and I would like opinions on all. Thanks in advance! :)
Mine was from my high school test, back in the dark ages.
Camp Pendleton is where they
hold their court martial's. I am not sure what the OSi is. If he is facing charges, he will have his hearing there. Their web site is www.pendleton.usmc.mil
Hope all works out well.

My kids brought lice home from day camp....sm
or brought it to day camp. One way or the other, this stinks.
Other than the usual shampoo; comb with a good metal nit comb; clean, spray, bug, and/or bag everything in the house, any other suggestions? I even bought a steam cleaner for the furniture and rugs.
I'm getting dirty looks at work. The kids want to go back to camp, but I'm worried about what the other kids are going to do/say. I'm keeping them home until next week. Need advice reassurance from mom who have been here.
Have no problem with camp - its what she said about night time that reflects her real
parenting attitude. She gets a double bonus cause they're tired at night and she doesn't have to deal with them. That's the horrible statement, but the one she REALLY meant. Now that I called her on it, she's gonna change it to they bake cookies or sing by the camp fire together at night....Please!
No one comes out of MT school ready to work...sm
Students will come out of the top 3 schools ready to work, but will have to work for lower line rates as apprentices. So who do you think the MTSOs will hire?
We won't hire newbies that's for sure. There's way too much training that you have to do with a brand new MT, lower line rate or not. That's the least of our worries as MT's.
And we were supposed to finish school and work FT (sm)
after being offered a job making $25/hr. with full benefits and supposedly a future? And now we're supposed to go back to school at 50 y/o because of this govt? Are you with the illuminati or what?
This happens to be 2006. There are many, many people who did not finish school because they were offered jobs that paid quite well. Unfortunately, those jobs are now being given to illegals, etc., remember "the jobs that Americans won't do?"
I won't be going back to school, I made enough money.
Best school for becoming an MT and best (honest) companies to work for as an MT
Can anyone give me insight on the best MT school to enroll in and then after completing the course the best companies (most honest companies) to work for? Thanks!
Do you work full time and home school? (nm)

Mine got sent to me by my work and was the same way.
I cleaned it just because I wanted it clean, but the smell went away eventually.
A friend of mine went to work for
them and had a very hard time, ended up going with another service. She told me she was docked in her pay for sending to QA with blanks. She said she could not make any money there.
Did the buttons not work like mine? Nm
NM
Mine doesn't work either
Mine does the same thing. I think if you don't work on site, and just dial in, it won't keep track. That's what the Lanier guy told me when he came to set me up, but when I worked in the hospital, it did keep track.
LOVE them-- won't work without mine.

I'm embarassed to even work with you all. Sound like a bunch of grade school delinquents. Grow u
So disrespectful, and just plain embarassing. You get whatever you desire, and based on your "class" on the boards, you all are getting it. I thank God literally that I don't have to share office space with you "women". A priceless blessing.
I work around my kids. Mine are not as young as yours
but even when I had babies I worked before they got up, worked during nap time, worked a little after dinner when DH could watch them. With my last one I put him in a Mother's Morning Out program for 15 hours/week at a church 2 miles from our house for 2 years during the school year. I'm fortunate I have flexible hours that I can do that.
Use mine for work sometimes, but plug in my Goldtouch sm
keyboard and "real" mouse. Obviously, too cumbersome for just "play" at a coffee house or something, but when I travel, I do pack the "good stuff" with me
I just work for mine. MT is the closest I've come to SM
good return on my time, and I know that's not true for everybody.
Don't want to insult you, but -- why not just work for your money?
Mine avg. around $2K a year that is it -- all work via the internet- sm
I cannot see how anyone can write off $10K unless they are fudging things or have a very large office area in a very expensive house with a BIG mortgage---and drive back and forth delivering tapes, print outs, etc. I do not do the mortgage/office deduction so I am sure I could write off another $1K if I did that, but as I don't know when we are moving (planning to one of these days) I don't want the hassle so I just eat that one. As for my write offs I deduct anything remotely used or needed for work, electricity, paper, ink for my printer (print patient lists), my fax service, internet, FTP, any programs/upgrades, virus protection, reference books, any equipment (did my computer a couple years ago), phone line for work, etc. I am sure there is more (i.e. a new desk, chair, etc.). If you use it for work, write if off. --From the sounds of it though your accountant is right.
Sounds like a good place, where you work! BTW: the other 2 posts are not mine
Somebody is cloning my username now and posting. Guess on a board like this anyone can troll. So, I guess I will change my username again, so as not to be taken the wrong way. Wow, people really have a lot of time on their hands!
I did that with 2 kids with time mgmt and a high school girl who babysat 3 days a week after school

The cost of running a private school or any school is expensive....
Why do you think public schools are so run down and can't find good teachers? Because the government and people to not put forth the effort or $$$$ to improve the educational system.
The School of Hard Knocks is the best MT school
n
k, that is your opinion, i stated mine. poor quality in my opinion shows bad work ethics if they do
;
Funny! Mine is almost as large, and I don't mind cleaning mine!
It's no problem at all. Besides, I'll take lots of oodles of square footage any day of the week over living in a sardine can!
Mine isn't like that. Mine is 2. All are programmed different.

We met in high school. My high school sweetheart
introduced us in a discussion over Ford versus Chevy versus Dodge. I used to race my Dodge Coronet with oldstyle 318 V-8 engine against the guys on the back roads and old highways. High school boyfriend had a Chevy truck. DH had a Ford Fairlane and later an AMC Javelin that just made me swoon. We didn't actually start dating until three years later, and my old high school boyfriend was a bit surprised at that since he introduced us.
I'm old school, but still know its 3/6

never went to MT school!
I have been doing this for 10 years now. I have a great job, great QA reviews and make great money. So what???
ol school
LL Cool J and caramel
been to school should have known, especially since they
basically had the words correct. They were such common terms I don't know how anyone could have gotten through school and not had them at least 100 times.
Also doing one search on Google with the misspelled words would have probably turned up the answer.
going to school
Don't get discouraged - you will be able to use your MT skills in other areas to help with the cost of schooling. I'll be doing that too even if I have to work at a doctor's office part time as a receptionist! Just knowing I am making my way out of this field is something to aspire to!!!
Went to school and got my CPC
I have a national coding certificate. I cut back on my MT work and got a job auditing physician records and scoring their documentation, then gave them feedback to maximize their reimbursement for the services they provided. When I moved to a new area, the field for the type of coding I was doing had less of a demand, so I increased my MT work. Now that I'm back in my "home town" I need to network and re-enter the field. The money is just as good, if not better in some cases, with much better benefits, plus it is something you leave at the office at the end of the day.

By the way, I'm also from old school....sm
But I try to keep them all as simple as possible, one office with 2 surgeons has their own letterhead, so no problem there and they want things very simple. All work for all also, besides getting printed by me, is put on a diskette for them to download on their systems for them to make whatever changes they choose. All others with no letterhead, I supply all paper for (Xerox) and free delivery and pickup to all. It is free for them, I pay someone to pickup/deliver. That's how simple I want it, and I also want to bill out and get paid only once a month.
Everyone seems to like the idea, and it has been working for quite some time (10 years) and my theory is, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. *LOL*
As for the national, my weekend work, each client has a CP (client profile) and some of the CPs are more difficult than the others and once in a GREAT while, I might forget SOMETHING but then I contact someone beyond who usually fixes whatever I messed up.
I went to school for
two years to earn a certificate in medical transcription (at a junior college) but so far no one has ever asked me if I was certified or if I went to school. I guess they didn't care as long as I could do the work.
School
I would not recommend if you actually want to get a job!
I am considering RN school...
I am almost 29 and have a daughter and am pregnant with another one. I've been going to school to get my RHIT but am bored with it and may go to RN school instead. I don't know... I feel too old to do it!
You should ask the school what they want.

Woo-hoo - 1st day of school!!! sm
Both kids survived it quite nicely. That's 1 down, 179 to go!!!

All I can tell you is that I was thinking of going into nursing a few years ago, and a friend of mine who used to be a nurse discouraged me (strongly). It's not what it used to be - lots of paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, lots of long hours and tough shifts. She got her Master's and is now in nursing administration.
Old school
In the old days of 1" on top, bottom, 1" sides it was 54 lines, it was six lines per inch and using the common font of Courier 10 font which is now a 12 font. But now fonts are all so different as well as margins but I used to get 62 ines per page when doing continuous chart notes. One way to check in your font is to number 1, 2 3, 4 down a page and see how far you can go or check the line count is word but usually runs 54 to 66 again depending on margins, fonts, etc.
What MT school did you go to? nm
x
It might if you went to a school that
that is not well known or has a less than stellar reputation. However, if you went a school with a good reputation in the industry, you don't really need it. Companies know who prepares their graduates for entry-level positions or above, who produces graduates that need more assistance, and what programs do not even provide remedial knowledge.
Having your RMT credential might show an employer that you have the basic knowledge required to do the job, but you would need to weigh cost versus the benefit.
