Many of my local docs have gone to EMR, some are assoc with the local hopsital who thinks this is the greatest thing since white bread... The records are sloppy but they are saving $$$.. by cutting out transcription. The docs and staff enter info directly into the chart on small laptops. Unfortunately the info is only as good as what is entered into it... overworked, rushed doctors and staff trying to type in data and interview patient's at the same time.. not the most efficient/accurate set-up. In the end it may end up costing more $$$, but for right now they just see eliminating the transcription costs. Maybe in the future they will see the need for at least medical editing, who knows?
