I learned to type on a manual typewriter too and my first MT job was in the radiology department of my local hospital sitting there listening to tapes on a tape player, typing on an IBM Selectric with a bottle of whiteout, a "pen eraser", a packet of correction tape and a stack of reference books a mile high. Thank God for technology!
