A regular spellchecker doesnt catch these words. Either way they want to know if you have a way to come up with the correct spelling regardless how you get it.

that the kids are in danger. They are with my mother-in-law while my sister-in-law works or with me. When she is not working she has them they do not stay alone with my brother-in-law anymore.

that attitude you don't want to work for. I would rather be on QA for months and learn every last thing about that account and learn it right than have somebody down my throat about still being on QA.
Don't let them fool you, these people that run these ads don't have that great of MT skills either or they would never put an ad like that. Stay away from them.
Yes, these random QA reports now being done by MQ are being done by QA people that dont even QA the
account and are a pain in the butt. Then they monitor the amount of blanks you have so I will not help out anymore on a new account that needs help because they even monitor those blanks. Who needs this aggravation.
I live in PA. I dont have Ipay. I got the actual check in the mail not on direct deposit. It said
they miscalculated the lines and sorry for the inconvenience. I have been on DQS for 2 years and now they send a check for miscalculating the lines.

I guess they are focusing on people who take huge deductions which I really dont so maybe that is
why they dont audit me because basically there is nothing to audit since my deductions are about $600 a year which are payroll deducted for equipment. I watch with my deductions that everything can be well documented but I really only have health insurance now which before you couldnt take so that is it for me and that is easy to prove.
You know, I dont think people care anymore what MQ offers or doesnt offer, I think everyone is just
sick of all the confusion, dishonesty, sneakiness, etc. You never know what is around the corner so after this there will be something else no doubt. I think I and most other MQ MTs just want a company that they can respect and trust. MQ can offer this package and turn right around and change that. Leopards dont change their spots. It seems like they are intent on running this company into the ground and they are doing a good job of it. I dont see how they ever will stand up against the money they owe all of these hospitals. You still have to wonder what prompted them to send checks out to the DQS MTs for mistakes in calculation of lines. Give me a break. Maybe they are trying to settle lawsuits to get out of the MT business and focus on just technology. They sure dont know what they are doing with the MT side for sure. I think they felt they had everyone up against a brick wall but as accounts leave so will MTs or MTs will just move on to another business as the wages get lower and lower so then all the work can go to India. Older MTs will cut back or retire and younger ones will leave for something else when they see what they have to battle with the work left over from ASR or VR for the small amount of money not to mention EMRs coming quickly.

hearing, what I am sure was quite a thump or bump, unless it was a bunch of kids who were drunk or high, etc. Maybe the person(s) did get out and check and then panicked and bailed, who knows. But regardless I hope they get them. I am sure those parent's will blame themselves, then the friends at some point, until the day they die. It's unfortunate they could not have had the dad stay home with kid #1, and the mom go to the hospital with her mother or close friend, etc. This is how we handled the birth of our 2nd daughter. My husband was there the first time so I did not need him there the 2nd time, just my mom....plus it was midnight when I went in to the ER anyway. I just hope the parents don't inadvertentely blame child #2 for the death of #1 in some way. Weird things happen in grief.

Am I missing something? In word, the errors are immediately underlined in red and so I correct as I go or when doing a quick proofread. Isn't running spell check more time consuming? Is there any benefit from running spell check opposed to what I am doing? Thanks.

I believe the standard for keeping records is 4 to 7 years, depending on contract. If it were me, I would check with the facility. They may want a copy of your old records before you destroy them.

After all, if no one would have stood up years ago, we would still be called the 'typing pool' and making probably $7/hour, AND answering phones, filing, etc.
AAMT did have a huge role in that happening, but I have not seen them do anything for the American MT in a very long time.
According to the Advance Health mag (which is turning into a 'rag' in my opinion), their latest article is how MTs with disabilities are now being trained in INDIA...and elsewhere overseas, and just how wonderful and joyous that all is - !?#@$#@

The way I understand it if you dont keep below 10 to 15% QA you dont get the bonus even if your QA
score remains above 98% so you see as the other poster said you are between a rock and a hard place and I expect this is MQ way of getting out of paying a bonus to people. I see it this way anyhow. I plan to continue to send unclear things to QA and that is the way it is. I expect depending on the new pay scale on top of this they will be losing a lot of MTs anyhow as they continue to miser everyone out of money.

reports they listen to quite frankly.

It's not a MEDICAL spellchecker. You have to convince them to add the medical spellchecker.

if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.
As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.

had a similar issue with TWC and they had done some upgrades and the modem I had was no longer compatible. The tech knew what the problem was the minute he saw the modem, only it took me about 3 months and threatening to cancel for them to get out here.

I have always used Steadman's (provided by employer), but had to buy one for an IC job. I got Dorland's spellchecker free with the purchase of a Dorland's dictionary (less than $50). I find it to be similar to Steadman's and thrilled that I didn't have to spend $100+. I am not sure if they are still offering this software free, but worth checking into (I bought the 30th edition about a year ago).
It does have a its own Spellchecker...
I have worked in several different Meditech systems. They all had spellcheckers and you can even add words (new medicines).

I am leaning heavily towards Stedman's or Spellex as both offer quarterly updates.

I don't know how it is with the spellchecker, but the electronic word books now you can only download twice. If buying on e-bay and they have a very good rating I probably wouldn't hesitate to buy it and then if it didn't work you could return it or they could refund you, otherwise I would probably be hesitant to purchase used.

Editing Spellchecker
Hi, I hope I can help - it's been a while. I would go to my supplemental dictionary (where the error words usually end up), open it, do a search for your misspelled words, find them, highlight, and delete, OR you can type in your "boo-boos" into the "commonly used words" and then change them to the correct spellings. You could also set your formatting whereby if you seem to always type the same word(s) incorrectly, i.e.,"sublingaul", you can type the incorrect spelling and do a "change to" then type in sublingual the correct way. It will automatically change the word in your document to the correct spelling. I hope this helps, but I am not at my home computer to go through the exact sequence. Good luck. I am an independent contractor with a company which utilizes Bayscribe for transcription. Recently, I have been receiving feedback that I have been sending reports with spelling/typo errors. It turns out that the spellchecker which is programmed as part of Bayscribe has a long list of words which are misspelled which will pass as correct! I spent a lot of time one day programming all the incorrect words in the spellchecker as "treat as misspelled." Unfortunately, once I log off Bayscribe the spellchecker cancels out my instructions and the words once again pass through as correct. This is extremely annoying to say the least! It is my understanding that the programmer refuses to fix this. I was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem and if so, what you did to fix it. Currently, I am copying my report into Word and running my Stedman's spellcheck on it.

I know this is probably a silly question, but..I loaded Stedman's Spellchecker on my computer awhile back but have never used it. Today I was looking for it on my computer and can't find it. Should it come up under program files on your computer? or does it just combine with spellchecker in Word somehow and not show up on its own as a program? I thought maybe someone here who uses it could point me in the right direction. Is there some way you can make adjustments to it or is just part of Word after you load it? Thanks much for any help!!

How often do you update your spellchecker? I bought a Stedman's spellchecker almost a year ago (2006 version) and I received in the mail information about updating to 2007. I am not sure if I should update yet or not. TIA

at most places (yes, I've worked places there was not and every medical term had to be added meticulously to the regular spellchecker. I've also worked places where the spellchecker had many, many errors in it, so keep that possibility in mind. Be ever so careful about adding terms, be they MD names or new drugs or whatever.
Use a program like ShortHand to help you with words you chronically misspell and common phrases, even if they are just English phrases. There are tricks. For instance, type ecoli and have it change to E. coli. But have some special ending (I use j) to add to it to make it spell out this tricky bacteria in full, properly capitalized. Do you think I remember each time the right way to type HER-2/neu ? No, I just type h2n and the above pops up for me. Plenty of tricks available for the trickiest terms.

I'm having trouble loading my Stedman's spellchecker. It keeps asking for the response code and then won't take it. My computer messed up and I'm having to reload everything and now I can't get this back on. Anyone else have this happen? What did you do?

My spellchecker is not correcting. When it stops on a word, I will correct it and submit but when I go back to look at the report the word is still spelled wrong. Anybody know how to fix that? Have never had a problem with it before.
