I feel compassion for your situation.
Unfortunately, your desire to be with your child and the high cost of child care has led to your exploitation by these transcription companies.
I don't know how old you are but if you are 30 or under get out soon. Start making plans to find another source of income, another job skill, that can get you out of this as this may not be a viable career in the next five years or so.
Also it gets harder as you get older to start a new career so do it while you can. A lot of other kinds of employers besides transcription companies are hiring people to work at home and don't treat people like this industry.
They're just too much wrong with the transcription field. I've been through all of this for many years and have regrets that I didn't take the time to do something else.
Unions protected workers from exploitation
It seems me that had the unions had a watch dog group, abuse of that system would not have occurred. And there was abuse. A small percentage of people always seem to look for loop holes and then milk something good as long as they can until they ruin it for everybody.
But please, unions are good. If there were unions in Calif for the field workers, conditions would be improved and these unemployed workers across America who have lost their jobs to outsourcing could actually make a decent living at them without work that puts you into a chiropractors' office in ten years.
Of course, the price of food would have to go up or perhaps all of those filthy rich ranch owners would, instead, have to take a cut in income (now there is a possible answer).

a doctor I used to get with a Middle Eastern accent that was so bad the facility said we could send the reports in with as many blanks as we had to leave. sometimes you could understand about every third word. You would think he'd get tired of reports full of blanks but he never improved.
the overstating the obvious award goes to
gotta love residents - "the left lower extremity part of the physical exam could not be performed due to a left lower extremity amputation."
That was in a movie right? He looks great on award nights.
I like him because he seems to be focused on the part he plays and not on looking good and in some movies, especially the pirate movie, he looked not so good but was hilarious. He doesn't seem Hollywood to me all propped up and doing the guest appearances to promote his movies.

They're willing to help you as long as you lower yourself. Just pure head games. And some parents would love to see their kids homeless for a chuckle. Makes no sense to me - mine were the same. They were so jealous that my husband and I stuck it out and made our marriage work, are still in love after 30+ years with great kids. When we ran into 1 bump in the road and needed a tad of help, they sat and laughed in our faces, even their innocent grandkids. You just never know what goes in some peoples' minds. Only count on yourself and God, literally. I'm here for you!!

Oh, please, please! unless you know what you are talking about.....and by this I mean first-hand knowledge and not going by personal feelings....do not judge another by what they say or how they take care of their dog.
Debarking, shock collars, and citronella collars all have their place. What has happened to just plain ole' put the dog in the house? If the owners are at work and the dog cannot be trusted alone, a crate works wonders! Dogs generally bark a lot because they are lonely and/or bored.
The dog is not to blame, the OWNERS are.
BTW, MslaMT, when a dog is debarked, the voice box is not removed. Tissue in the vocal cords are reduced either by a surgical incision or laser. This reduction only changes the pitch of the bark, it does not eliminate it. The dog can still bark and he/she can bark to their heart's content....they have no idea they've had a procedure done, all they know is that they are not being told to shut up it. Their bark can come back over time, but this is not the norm.
