Can you post the web address please?
thanks
No where in my post did I address
I think you need to redirect your comments to the appropriate person. I was not approving or condoning her actions. I really don't think this lady understands why everyone is so upset with her (maybe a little thick). I was simply trying to point out what in her post has made everyone so upset.
I was also trying to offer some legal solutions to her problems. Not to mention, that her kids do deserve kudos for serving their country.
Next time you decide to post, make sure you direct your comments to the right person. Some people get a little too excited on this board and make comments in haste that are often misdirected, as in your case.
My point - can't be done in an office.

re: post about internal clock, there is a web site address
given to us by our MT leader. I've never tried it, but it's supposed to keep the clock in sync. The addresss is www.clock-sync.com/help.html. This may help you with your problem.
post your email address and I will send links to you (nm).
E-mail address removed; please do not post EM addresses. (NM)

:
No - you are right - NOT the point of your post BUT
you do claim to be a QA person so people assume you have some experience and so asked nicely why you put an apostrophe in MTs... which a lot of people do.... and now I am even more confused as MT's is certainly not a contraction - a contraction is like don't, doesn't, etc., so thinking maybe you don't know your stuff afterall... but thanks
The point of her post was they are
sitting around waiting on work because they need to be working....there aren't as many jobs available, especially good jobs, like there used to be. If they didn't want to work, they'd turn their computer off and forget about it when there wasn't any work.My sister is an experienced MT and looked for over 4 months until she found another MT job when her company was running out of work. Ten years ago, you oculd just about find an MT job the same day you started looking.
He does have a man's point of view the post is looking for

The point is the post was a JOKE... a little humor!!!
People do that. And complaining about those that post on the message boards -- is that not the pot calling the kettle black since you apparently enjoy this as you have posted multiple times today? Others here are free to speak/read just as you are. You are also free to hit the red X button on the corner of the screen if you are in any way unhappy about what is posted.
The above post proves my point. _sm_
NEWS FLASH: MT is a NEVER-ENDING, continual process of learning. I've been at this biz for 35 years (and took all my tests honestly, and my resume is 100% accurate, thank you very much), and I still continue to learn each and every day that I transcribe. 99% of that learning is done by my own research.
But sometimes a person's ears can deceive them, or a new doctor that is hard to understand can come along that we can't transcribe completely. Usually QA has dealt with these guys before, and are familiar with the terms that stump me. (You can't look something up if you can't even tell for sure what the word SOUNDS like.)
Yes, QA is for quality-assurance. But the only way to IMPROVE quality is to help the MTs with their ongoing learning process.
What's REALLY frustrating is when you people first tell us one thing, and then a few days later, you tell us something entirely different. You contradict yourselves to the point of being the "joke" you talk about. Too bad your manager can't get all of you on the same page at least SOME of the time!
Anyway, your post sounds exactly like the snippy little emails I get whenever I ask QA an honest question, or send something to them that I have a gut feeling is wrong, but have no samples available to double-check.
Yes, it does only take one rotten apple to spoil the whole barrel, and QA-people with your attitude should be shoved down the garbage-grinder.
:p
post office jobs
Unless you are a prior veteran or can qualify as a minority, you will have a difficult time getting the job if you are near a major city. My coworker and I (she is black) took the test. I scored a 98, she scored 83, but she got the job.
Please name a post office processing
We are talking about handling mail for the US postal service. Not any other entity. Inmates are not allowed to handle mail anywhere in the United States. It is absolutely forbidden by the federal government. Name a center where inmates handle mail.
Oh, the stories I could tell on the Post Office.
The short story is that since the rates were raised the service has declined. My PM, an acquaintence through my kids' school, doesn't even want to hear my voice on the other end of the line because he knows that something else is messed up.
I just wondered why you felt it necessary to point out that the OP had posted the same post before.
It's the equivalent of rolling your eyes and saying you've heard this before when someone is telling you a story they've told before. The polite thing to do is listen again. Not tell them, you've told me this before.

Their fault, not the post office, sending
somewhere I have never lived.
I saw a special about theft in the post office years ago. SM
This isn't saying they all do it, but luggage handlers and post office employees have a high rate of left. I bought a really cool Video Now XP for my granddaughter. The tracking information says it reached my local post office and they scanned it in there. They say they never saw it even though they scanned it in. Someone there has a really nice present for someone this year and they didn't pay for it either. Disgusting.
POST OFFICE EMPLOYEES INFORMATION SOLD?
It seems the postal service is selling employee information including information to access the employee's health records? The article stated that they did it because they "needed revenue." I can't believe I saw this.

Enclosed are the steps involved, my point of view only. Very long post. sm
1. Make sure you have the qualifications. If you have EXCELLENT spelling and grammer skills, good typing skills, complete attention to the smallest details, and willingness to work HARD and learn constantly, you may have what it takes.
2. Realize that you will not learn this career in 1-2 years. That is a good beginning, but then you will have an "apprenticeship" period. This runs anywhere from 1-3 years, depending on the job you get, the training available there, and your ability to branch out and absorb a constantly changing field.
3. Do your homework on the training schools. Some schools offer a program that will actually help you get a job when finished; others have a reputation that will allow you to hire with some companies as a "newbie." Don't waste money on a school that gives you a certificate and sends you out on your own. You may find it difficult to get a job without experience, and can't get experience without a job. I am not recommending a school. DO A LOT OF RESEARCH. Every school has "lucky" graduates, so get a consensus from MANY graduates.
4. If you expect to make a fortune, look elsewhere. You will find "exceptions" that make anywhere from $50 to $100 thousand a year. Most of us with a lot of experience make anywhere from $30 - $50, depending on your speed and stamina. Without stamina, you'll burn out or develop physical problems in a couple of years.
5. VR will never replace transcription. However, it takes a lot of knowledge to "proof" VR reports, and as the machines get smarter, we also must have more experience to catch their errors. I do not foresee us being replaced by machines. It is possible, though, that the wages will not go up because of this, and most MTs will stay on a plateau. Not easy, when cost of living keeps going up, but right now it is a reality, so consider it.
This is my view of the MT field, and its future. I have 18 years experience and have worked on the web for 9, since being outsourced from a hospital. It's a rough field, but not impossible, and I'm happy with it. I only have 10 years to go, though. I'm not sure I would start it now, if I were younger. You have to have a lot of determination. Good luck to you.
I hear that; we had tapes broken several times where silly office people had put post-it notes on th
In retrospect, it was nearly laughable.
They have only had mandatory OT
once since I've been there, and they said to just let them know if you couldn't do it. I have never been hounded about my line count, and I'm more accurate than fast. I don't think those salary figures are so out of line for the stress and aggravation that must come with that job--there are managers making a lot more in other sectors. After one miserable month at TRS last year, this national has been a much better deal so far.
Mandatory OT
That is why I ended up leaving after 3 years. The OT gets old quick--BUT I think Amphion is probably one of the only MTSOs that pays true over time as in time and a half over 40 hours PLUS your lines, so it's something to think about. I do miss the money. I was on UW and not having to work any of the federal holidays or weekends was fantastic, but honestly, I wouldn't go back because of that darned overtime.
mandatory evacuations
They did make it mandatory evacuations and they did open up the highway, both sides heading out of town. We are all just sitting by watching and there is nothing any one can do, just wait for the destruction and heartache.
Mandatory OT?? Is this for FT and PT positions?? nm
s
You forgot to add that they have mandatory
OT and that they put you on the lowest line account they can. Given the choice between 120 lph and 300, they should put you on the 300, but they will not. Believe me, been here too long and getting ready to go.
Looked mandatory to me...
With PayPal popping up in there....that's not right!
That's optional, NOT mandatory! nm
.
Mandatory credentialing
Yes ADHI (AAMT) is working towards mandatory credentialing. Anyone who sees that as a threat or joke, probably should not be working as a transcriptionist. Believe me the more education and professional development you gain- you will reap rewards. They may or may not be monetary or happen overnight. Sometimes it is more about professional development.
Most don't pay and a lot of making it mandatory
A lot of companies are asking for this now and will not pay for it and will not let you work unless you have it. Execuscribe and Transcend are 2 that I know for sure but I've heard that a lot more are doing it or thinking of doing it.
MQ mandatory code of ethics course?
Did anyone else get an email from Howard about all MQ employees taking a mandatory ethics course? Hmm...I thot I already WAS ethical....
In my state attendance isn't mandatory if they are 16, so
you can drop out of school at 16, though here they do make it so you can't get a driver's license until you're 18 or something like that as a consequence. I don't know why he'd even bother going to school at all if he wasn't going more than that.
Jury Duty Mandatory
Here in NYS jury duty is mandatory. You can get out of it once or twice, I believe, but then you have to go, they won't excuse you any more. Hopefully, your State is more lenient.

I agree totally, there should be a mandatory
course for 'how to dictate decently', lasting a whole semester! Also 1 semester for techhnical training 'how to keep my dictating equipment running smoothly!'
I am also getting into the habit of 'making up words', when REALLY in doubt I go and check online if this word exists, LOL !
Well That's IT! Lifeguarding will be mandatory prior to being an MT! Hahahahah!

I've been on mandatory overtime for over a week!
Yay! Love overtime.

It's the big thing that a bunch of companies are jumping on. Shameful.
Does your company pay for mandatory training/conferences?
Not as a new hire, but as a regular employee when they have a mandatory phone conference, or training for new platform, ASR, etc. ??
I didn't apply, so that's a moot point. The point I was making is that
she's ranting here about something that doesn't even pertain to most of us. You can't come to a MT message board railing at MTs without getting a response. That's why it's not called MTSOstars. Also, it's unprofessional of a business owner to let her emotions overrule her common sense. As for the newbies, they'll learn. We were all newbies at one time or another. None of us was born perfect, not even the MTSO.
You missed my point. My point wasn't perks but prestige...nm

Life is too short and this seems small to me. Maybe it wouldn't be if I were in your shoes, but it does to me right now, for sure.

A breast exam is mandatory for a driver's license??
I cannot imagine a state where it is mandatory for a young girl getting a driver's license to have a breast exam. That just sounds, as does the pressuring you state by the doctor for the cervical cancer shot, so farfetched to me that it is completely unbelievable. I read very well, thank you and am unbelieving of most of what you have posted. Sounds like not only are you stressed but you have some mania going on there.
