You brought up some excellent points! Since you have done both US and MT, you definitely would say that you prefer the MT over the unit secretary?

HELP, PLEASE!!! I am currently an IC, which I have been for eight years, and I recently applied for a nursing unit secretary position at the local hospital. I interviewed and who would have guessed it, they offered me the job. The position is third shift, 7pm to 7am three nights a week. I do have little kids to think of when considering this. My ultimate goal is to go to nursing school and I am thinking that working in the hospital will be good experience. I don't know if it will be easier to go to nursing school while working as an MT or as a unit secretary. I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I don't know if I would be better off staying put even though I have no motivation to sit down and type or should I take this chance to do something new. Like with any new job I am afraid that I won't like it but I don't particularly care for this current job. What do you think would be the better move? I know you can't make my decision for me but some input on what you would do in my situation would be helpful. Any advice is truly appreciated.

I actually went to a secretarial program at the local technical school. AND I learned Gregg shorthand, but haven't thought about that in a number of years. Boy are you all bringing back memories.

that allows upload to FTP. Without that, FTPVoyager is useless. Make sure you buy handheld units that have the software capability to upload to FTP otherwise you'll be stuck.

If you find that handheld units with the upload software is out of your price range, consider the EZ-Voice solution.

Just wondering if anyone has a personal experience using a TENS unit they could share. How long do you use yours for, if you find relief that you forgot you could have, etc. As a chronic low back pain sufferer, I�m looking forward to getting mine on Tuesday!

MT Daily. I sent her a money order for $500. She sent me one email after she received the money order saying she had sent the Lanier and of course I never received it and she didn't answer my emails for a week. Then she finally emailed again saying she had asked her daughter to send, but she hadn't and that she was going to ship the next day. Still I didn't receive it. At that point, she stopped answering my emails and eventually blocked me from being able to send me emails. I had her mailing address and phone number. Of course, she screened her calls and never answered the phone.

One thing people should know about MT's, we do our homework. I immediately researched what my legal options were and here is what I did:

1. I contacted the adminstrator of the website on which the original classified add appeared. They attempted to contact her to no avail.

2. I contacted the police departments in both her city and mine and filed a fraud report.

3. I then contacted the Attorney General's off in both her state and mine and immediately filed a report with each office. I was told that the claim would be investigated, but more than likely nothing would not come of one complaint, BUT if they received more than one complaint regarding fraudulent practices by the same business or individual, then they could file charges.

In the end, she made the mistake of forwarding one of those chain emails to everyone in her address book and mistakenly sent it to me. So, I had the email addresses of her business associates, co-workers, employers, friends, family. I promptly sent an email to everyone of them telling them exactly what she did to me and that they should be very careful in dealing with her.

I got several angry emails for people asking me not to include them in my email war. I apologized to those people and took them of the mailing list. However, three of the email contacts emailed me back and said they had bought stuff from her and never received the equipment. And finally, I received a very angry email from the perpetrator's other daughter. Apparently, her mother was freaked out about the fact that I had reported her to the police and the attorney general's office and I also let her know that I had made three other contacts ready to file with the attorney general's office which would probably get my case more notice. The daughter Western Unioned me my money within 24 hours.

Casey, I say break out the big guns and start shooting. That's what I did and it worked for me. You probably have the person's mailing address, so you know where he/she lives or at least what city and state he/she lives in. I wonder if we dealt with the same person? Is this person from Texas?

Go to SSA.gov and research the payee options. You may have to use the search engine, but your answer to this particular issue should be there.

I am disabled and while my kids were minors, I had to fill out a form each year on how I, as the payee spent each and every penny of the money they received. I don't see how his mother can justify how she spent his money for things that you normally would pay.

That said, he is getting Social Security right? Is your son receiving a dependent check? Under law, if a parent is disabled and has minor children, each and every one of those children also receive a check until they turn 18 or graduate from high school, which ever comes first.

The check is a percentage of your husbands, so for 800.00, your son should receive at least 350.00. If you have not been getting this, they would pro-rate it back to when your husbands disability started and that in itself, could solve a lot of your financial problems. I was hired by MQ in April for clinic work. The clinic account was huge and always behind when I first started. There were constant emails begging for people to work extra and on weekends. Slowly, it started running out of work and they started slowly adding more and more accounts to my pool until I think I was up to around 20 (yes, 20). Most of this work was ER notes. I complained several times. The ER notes were done by some of the worst dictators I've ever heard -- mostly American's, but sounding like they were eating while competing in the world's fastest talker competition. I complained -- several times -- about no work, multiple accounts and the quality of dictators. Finally, I received an insulting email from my supervisor telling me that I should be able to do this work. I promptly replied that I could "do" this work, but that they did not pay me enough for the headache and resigned on the spot. They really complained about everyone sending things to QA and QC, but with most of the accounts I was on, every report went to one or the other. I'm not used to turning in reports filled with blanks and I and was not comfortable with the quality of work I was producing. I'm certainly not the best Transcriptionist in the world, but I'm not the worst either and I actually care about what my work looks like. With MQ I was lucky to make 100 lines an hour. With my current job where I have been almost 2 years I make about 200-250 lines an hour and I also have gotten another part time job working for a local person where I make about 250-300 lines an hour.

I already had a full time transcription job with a smaller company I love and only went with MQ part time for tax purposes. My experience was not a good one. I personally would not work there again nor recommend employment there. On a side note, an MT I used to work for locally went to MQ, she lasted a little over a year. She referred someone who started 2 weeks before me and she lasted a little over 2 months. These MTs left for basically the same reasons. I can say that experiences will vary depending on what office you are at as will pay. An MT I know was hired by a PA office at 7.5 cents a line for acute care (15 years acute care experience). I was hired by the Dallas office at 9.25 a line for clinic (8 years clinic experience). My base was actually 8.25. I had to produce 6,000 lines in a pay period with 1600 of these lines done on the weekend to get the extra penny a line.

Letterman went on and on about wanting to be on Oprah's show. Well, Oprah never called or took his calls. Then she was reported as saying that she doesn't watch Dave's show and doesn't know what he is doing. So Letterman finally laid off and didn't say much more about it because she never called.

So to him it probably was the event of the decade because he has been wanting to see her for so long!
