MS Word SOOOO Slow

Has anyone ever experienced a very slow MS Word program all of a sudden? It is very slow to get into and exit from MS Word 2002. Once in the program it is fine and all other programs on computer seem to work fine. Wondering if I may have too many autocorrect and autotext entries?? Any help would be appreciated. have tried everything can think of, even added much memory. Thanks.

Auto Text too full-slow MS Word
Has anyone experienced having their Auto Text in MS Word so full that it slows down getting into and out of MS Word Program? This seems to be the problem, because when I accidentally deleted my "Auto Text" entries, my Word program worked fast again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Slow day for me. Typed two reports in two hours. Anyone else having unusually slow day?

Just what I needed! You don't know how much you have helped! I have printed your response. I was trying to make it too hard by overthinking like I always do. My physical therapist keeps hinting that one of their (at home) transcriptionists left, HINT HINT, and I have been afraid to talk to the office manager because of all of the logistics stuff.
One more question: About the 3$ a page...could you explain a little more about that. What about half pages and the like? Have you figured out what kind of cpl that equals? However, the 3$ a page sounds like a much easier way to calculate the bill.

That Indian MT who lives in the US story and cherry picks while not wanting to do Indian bad dictators just was too much! And the insider who told the MT this was happening. Wow! For two months!!! How long should it take for the Indian MT to cherry pick before she does the Indian dictators? Blah, blah, blah. How and why do people do this to themselves?
It is the nature of the business just like sales. You win some, you lose some. There is feast and there is famine. Do the work while it is there because tomorrow it may be dry. Don't like the work, get another job.

Please don't feel so bad, menopause affects your mood, temperament, just so many things about your body that you are used to! I had a radical hysterrectomy back in 2000, so I had to go through menopause "instantly." I could not take the patch and hated HRT, so I have been using naturopathic supplements to help....but depression, mood swings, cravings, the HORRIFIC night sweats and hot flashes, lowered libido....I got it all, and it really is a transition. Could you perhaps speak with a compassionate female therapist, not necessarily a psychiatrist, but someone who understands what you are going through and can hash out all of the issues that are bothering you? I was hired as a QA manager and the company I work for have been trying to demote me every chance they get, promoting the less qualified, etc etc. It is clear that a good MT is more valuable to a company as just that, an MT. Sooo try not to be as good and you might move up in the ranks. LOL;

There are so many newer MT's who don't know the facts where BOS is concerned. I use my BOS everyday.... it elevates my monitor to just the right height.

 This post refers to the posts below from the ICs from TRX (I am one) - I find it interesting that a person would come on here and call someone out of there name (the owner) and then walk away without explaining how he/she came to their conclusion. Seems a person would want to make their case or maybe just persons like myself and the other IC who stood up to ask why. I'm so confused. I guess we're all just different that way.  Some people are yellow and some aren't. That's right, I said it.

This is not creamy, but is SOOOO good...
1 cup oil
1 cup vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
3 Tbsp parsley flakes (may use less)
1/2 Tbsp black pepper
4 tsp dried mustard
16 oz cooked rotini
1 medium cucumber
1 medium green pepper
Mix all ingredients well, refrigerate before serving.
Note: I leave out the cucumber and pepper when refrigerating, and cut these and add just before serving.

I was soooo lucky... my son was potty trained at 2..
He had his 2nd birthday party on Saturday, and on Monday he started potty training. Never bought another diaper. Two weeks later, he was in underwear during the day. But, I took him regularly and monitored his juice intake. Thirty minutes after dinner was the last full drink. He would go potty right before bedtime at 8pm and maybe get a little juice if he asked for it. Since I worked nights, I would wake him up (or just take him sleep) to the bathroom at around 12am or 12:30am. He would wake up dry most mornings, but he wore Pull-Ups until he was about 2-1/2. He is 7 now and has an accident every blue moon, mainly because he falls asleep in bed without going to the bathroom right before getting in bed. Proud of him. Yours will get there too.

you would think they'd realize how idiotic they look - whining and whining and predicting doom and gloom! Honestly, MQ and Philips is BOOMING in the business world right now. Huge advances the last few months - HUGE sales of products, advances, awards in the industry. I get email alerts daily on the HUGE growth of MQ - and these old sea-hags just sit on here and cackle about DOOM. Boy, do they need a reality check, or what? All is fine in MQ world, and always, always will be! As long as you're willing to work and have a brain, MQ is a great place to work! Oh, yeah, and I'm mgmt - making 6 figures and even remotely interested in sea-hag opinions! That is just soooooooooooooo lame, too! Or maybe I'm the same poster from below who always uses CAPS! That is sooooooooooo funny. Cracked up at that analysis - some of these women have way toooooooo much time on their hands rather than hitting the keyboard! Analysing posts to compare typing styles. Prices in our area are comparable between cable and DirecTV. If you look at their website, you can pull up comparison charts showing exactly which channels are on each service package. You can sort them by number or alphabetically and print them out if necessary.
Problems as in communication?? If so, I'm soooo there. Sick of unanswered emails. No one cares

Except, of course, when I'm having a bad day with really diffult dictators. For the most part though, I can be rushing like a crazy person and then sit down to transcribe and it just eases me into a different frame of mind. My mind goes all sorts of places thinking of everything else I need to do, etc. Not in a stressful way though. It is more like when I am transcribing my brain is in a different "realm" and able to work out other stuff and come up with sometimes the onliest things. Seem to do much of my brainstorming while transcribing, whether I intend to or not. Seems easier to plan dinner, etc. Weird.
Is it slow or is it just me?
I have not had a full day of transcribing in weeks! I'm getting a bit worried. I know it's probably slow because of vacations, etc. but enough already! Anyone else out of work?
Slow with this doc
I have had this doc for a while now, but I am so slow with him. I noticed that I have to stop the dictation at least once every sentence, sometimes more, and it just took me ten minutes to do a 2:50 dictation.
He talkes very fast and quiet but other than that he is great. Although he talks fast, he is pretty clear and I rarely have to look things up with him, other than to CC at the end of the dictation which is almost every report.
I do not have this problem with any of my other docs, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I have his favorite sayings in my expander, but just cannot seem to get faster at his reports. Thanks!
PT I do 500-800 a day; I am slow though - sm
avg. 140-165 lines an hour; sometimes less, depends on the degree of difficulty and if ESL, but make a min. of $12 an hour up to $16 so I am happy enough.

from MT to Quality Assurance to supervisor. I have seen many a platform in my time. There are some really crappy ones out there that steal from the MTs, in particular Dictaphones managed Ichart service. Heres what they say --- As part of our ichart service, Dictaphone can help you assess the "true" cost of your current transcription infrastructure - Inadequate Billing Detail.
No true MT line counting standards for billing.
Challenging Audit Trail and Process.
"Special Characters" Can Inflate Line Counts By 15%.
"Invisible Characters" Can Inflate Line Counts Up To 20-40%!
Poorly Designed Templates can lead to Excessive Line Counts.
Multi-page Reports can Drive Excessive Characters and/or hidden words. If thats not trying to control line counts I don't know what is.
seriously, is that what causes everything to go slow?
I have often figured that I was getting the rejects of others - my account has mostly pretty good dictators but some weeks I never get the good ones, repeatedly get horrible dictators, long reports with huge spaces - yesterday it was moving so slow I thought it was going to crash.

Try going into the tools area. There is a button somewhere that is called some sort of optimizer. See if that works. Also, uncheck the continuations box. Good luck.

from what it shows on the website you posted, it would be too slow --- the processor is less than 3.0 and the hard drive is only 5400, you need a 7200 rpm --
And there is no mention of a serial port -- which you will quite often need for you foot pedal.
My opinion -- Too much money for too little return -- keep looking

Is anyone else finding it to be really slow lately? I have had very little work since shortly after Thanksgiving.

Rhode Island, the smallest state, was bumper to bumper, took 4+ hours for a normal 30 minute commute Some ran out of gas and had to abandon their vehicles. Tempers flared and school kids didn't get home on buses for hours, no snacks, bathroom breaks, etc., it was very poorly prepared for, although there was plenty of warning. If I had young children in the house (as I did when younger) I would always make sure they had some kind of energy bar with them if they left for school on a day a storm was forecast (or not send them at all). Girl Scout motto: Be prepared! A clue for me is always the birds. Sounds silly, but if you see the birds flocking, noisier than usual, etc., they are getting ready for a big storm. In the blizzard of '78, I was more prepared than anyone else and I have the birds to thank for that. I saw their frenzy, prepared for a big one and had all my work done in a timely fashion and enough food for a week (which it took to get back to normal.) (Showing my age.) Birds are great predictors of a storm if you watch and listen.
