ShortHand 30 day trial download
http://www65.pair.com/lim/shorthand/dnload.html
FYI, you can download a 30 day trial of Shorthand

to use until you buy something.

You can download a free 30 day trial medical spellchecker at Sylvan.  I've never used it, and I'm sure there are others out there, but these will get you by in a pinch.

Download ShortHand for a free trial.

Of all the expanders I've tried, it's been the easiest to learn and use.  Good graphic user interface, too.  Lots of features.  Read the help file and manual because there are a lot of neat features I didn't even know about until I read about them.

You can download the free 30-day trial of Shorthand here.

Then it's $99.95 to purchase it at the end of the free trial, but it pays for itself and is really easy to use.  That'll give you a month to save up the money for it.  My stats vary on it anywhere from 26% to 67% depending on my dictator.

Shorthand - You can download a free 30-day trial
and try it out. It has its quirks but is a good simple program.
SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Shorthand is lots cheaper and also has a trial.
.
You can download a trial version free.
//
Go to Stedmans.com and download the free trial and save your money on overnight shipping
xx
Shorthand has a free 30-day trial.

You can also download other people's dictionaries off the 'Net, but I chose to make my own according to my own abbreviation rules for ease of remembering.  I think there are other websites to download from besides this one, but I can't find them right now.  I tried Instant Text and used Word's Autotext feature, but I kept coming back to Shorthand.  Just make sure you read the Help file and tutorial because otherwise, you'll miss out on a lot of valuable features.

Where do I get the trial version of Shorthand? Sorry! No clue!!! Thanks for
the help!
Abacus is not free. It is $20 but worth it. You can download a trial version free which does not h
I have used this for years and have compared to Sylvan, Word, and MP Count, etc. When you have it set to count every character, bold, shift, tab, etc. It is great and always higher than the others. Now if you are wanting gross lines like in Word then no it won't be as high because Word counts blanks lines and Abacus counts a line only if there is a character on it. There is also two places to check for it to count the Headers/Footers. If you have the FREE version then it must be the trial or a very old version so you don't have all the features and functions.
There is also a 30 day free trial and I absolutely love this expander!

When you go to the Shorthand website and click on the link to download and....

click save and save it to your jump drive.  Once you've downloaded the file.  Open up your jump drive, double click on the download to install.  At the point in the installation where it asks you what folder to install ShortHand (it usually defaults to c:programs files or whatever.  You click browse to change to the destination to your jump drive (for example, mine is E: on my computer).  Then install like normal.  Now the program will be installed on your jump drive instead of your C drive.  Then when you want to run shorthand, you simply plug in your jump drive, open it up and click on the shorthand icon to start the program.

You can download Shorthand, choose the "capitalize first letter" option. SH works with ExText
nm
Try ShortHand if you love PRD+. sm
It reminds me a lot of PRD, but oh so much better.  No maximum on the amount of shortcuts you can put in ShortHand.  No changing buffers.  I don't believe ShortHand works with DOS, though.  You can even convert your PRD   files to ShortHand, but will have to tweak them all.
Love Shorthand....sm

It works with all windows based programs, not just Word or Word Perfect.  XXXXXXX used to have a huge list of entries that you could add to most Expander programs.  With Shorthand, you have your main dictionary that you set up and then a linked dictionary, which is how I set up the entries from the XXXXXXX site.  It is a list of about 100,000 entries, I believe.

As far as brand name drugs go, ones that I use frequently in the specialties that I type (GI and cardiology), I enter them in my expander already capitalized so that I do not have to hit the shift key when typing.  This may not save a lot of time, but time is money in this business and every little bit helps.  I use my expander program and macros to the fullest extent to save time in typing reports.

If you decided to go this route and you cannot get the list from XXXXXXX any longer, let me know by e-mail....I would be glad to send you the file.

I love IT. Don't know anything about Shorthand...
But I have increased my productivity 60-70% in the past year and a half using Instant Text. Some people complain about it being hard to get used to because it runs across the bottom of the screen, but I like it. I have mine set to show me 9 rows at a time so I usually don't even have to type out the entire short form before I see it and can choose it. They also don't like getting used to hitting the ; key as the marker instead of the space bar (there is a mode where you can use it like PRD but then you lose a lot of the features). It took me about 2-3 weeks to get really used to using the marker keys and now I'm so used to it that it is automatic. A big pro is that if you switch jobs you can take it with you because it links to multiple applications. (I work 2 jobs and use it on both platforms which is great, no more adding expansions to 2 separate glossaries). I like that you can separate and make multiple glossaries if you want, the compile and continuation features save tons of time, I like that you have the option of entering both words and phrases, it comes in handy for those big long single words. I keep a list of all my drugs on my word side and once I enter them I never have to look up the spelling again. You can set it to automatically capitalize letters after a . or : and you can set it to automatically add 1 or 2 spaces after a period or colon or a comma. I like not having to worry about what I name my short forms, it doesn't matter if the abbreviation can also be a real word (ie PAT) because you don't accidentally expand them just by hitting the space bar.

Anyhow, like I said I don't know if ShortHand is anything like it, but as you can tell I am a huge fan of IT and think it is the best thing that has happened to my line counts in my 16 years of transcribing.
Have Shorthand, love it SM
I have no experience with the other program, but can still recommend ShortHand without reservation. It's always done everything I've wanted, very fast, very flexible, many more features than I actually use, no problems with a couple of new platforms with new accounts, and no lockups or weirdouts--very stable, bless it!

I didn't monitor the increase in my productivity, but it's been tremendous. I can't imagine just limping along with Explorer Tools, for instance, when superb programs like this are available.

BTW, although Shorthand will also provide a list of possible expansions for words as you type, I turned that feature off from the very beginning and started memorizing my abbreviations on the assumption that I would want to proof as I went and taking my eyes off the report itself could only slow me down.
ShortHand is what I use and LOVE it! nm

Amen to that. Love Shorthand because you can do macros, too. nm
x
aneurysm... love shorthand - just type anu and there it is...(NM)
xx
Use ExText for 1 job. Love it! Works with my ShortHand. Wish they all used it! nm
s
I also love Shorthand and recommend without reservations. sm
Every once in a while I see people posting issues on other Expanders I just haven't experienced with Shorthand.  Very stable and workable with the platforms I've used, and I find the ability to use symbols in abbreviations an extremely useful feature.  I originally chose it for its very large storage capacity compared to others at that time and pretty much lucked out with the rest.
Thank you so much... I love shorthand, but that always drove me crazy - sm
I have gone in and changed mine.  Just proves you can learn something new each day, or you can teach an old dog new tricks, not sure which... lol
I've only been on it a short time but love it - I use Shorthand, though with it.
nm
I am going to order Shorthand for myself today. I love it. You can also manage your words in
:+
I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM

I have used with Word and Word Perfect.  I have used it with Meditech and Cerner.  I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology.  I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose.  If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.

I was really simple to learn to use too.  Very user friendly.

Download Express Scribe, it's free, when you download the voice files you will listen to....
them in Express Scribe and you can set your footpedal up. I forget where the downloaded files go, can't remember if you can put them where you want them but I would have to search for them to download to Express Scribe - maybe someone else can tell you how. It is much better than what you are doing.
Shorthand works for Radnet. I love Radnet BTW! nm
nm
Download antikeylogger from download.com.

I haven't tried it yet, but it's got good reviews and a 10-use trial.

{@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year is for Shorthand. Using the semicolon works with both Shorthand and

;yo = -year-old

;py= -pack-year

etc...

Shorthand and SpeedType are exact same program. Shorthand will cost you lots less.
you can import your autocorrect into Shorthand.
I took shorthand too. But it sure comes in helpful for my expanders. I view words in shorthand for
i did use shorthand once in a job but i was so nervous the "boss" took pity and dictated the report on dictaphone.
If it is Shorthand, save the SPF file to a disk, then if you buy Shorthand yourself....
you can just drop the SPF file into it. That is not dishonest since you are the one who put the macros in. I am sure is it is another Expander there is a way to save the macro file and then drop it in the expander you buy on your own.
Thank you! I may do a trial...
well.  I was just wondering if I had to retype as I do have some other accounts that I would eventually put on there.  I was also wondering about the invoice feature as one accont I get paid for blank lines....  Anyway not to ramble...  Thanks again!
Maybe you could ask for a trial
Maybe you could ask for a trial period, tell the potential employer the problem, that DSL is not available to you. I may be wrong, but I think you can get satellite internet most anywhere, if there's no other alternative. Also, if you are able to get cable, check into cable modem, which most any cable company is doing now. Sorry for your situation! I hope you find work soon!
trial - would if I could!
Unfortunately, I've already called the cable company and that's not available here yet either. Satellite is, but most of these companies say that it MUST be DSL or cable and that satellite will not work.

I would certainly offer a trial, but I can't even get anyone to talk to me! They find out I don't have cable/DSL, that's the end of the conversation.

It's just nuts...

NOT trial
The softwares are not good for 90 days or something. They are good without any trial period.
There is a free 30 day trial you
can download to your computer. But it is missing a couple of features, can't remember which ones
AVG says that it is only a 30 day free trial
:(
Flashtype trial
where is link??? didn't see
I think it would be likely a doc would prescribe a trial Rx although

EVERYONE does better attention-wise with stimulant medication, whether or not they have ADHD. That's why people drink coffee in the morning.

Since it is a trial version...
They may only allow you to play their pre-loaded files and not add your own. Why not try the Express Scribe player--it really is free. Link below.
Trial and error.
I check with former companies that I still have good relationships with. I check the job boards. I cold email "good" companies and asked about part time. I have 4 jobs at the moment, 3 transcription and I work at a vet 4 days a month for a couple hours just to take a break and do something I really enjoy.
They do have a free trial
Awesome updates. Install typical if you want to not configure a lot yourself. It is pretty easy and self explanatory if you do want to configure a lot yourself, however, and you can do a lot of different things with it. One tip, especially while working, I always disable the http traffic monitor. Slows things down even with massive memory. All the other things it does keeps your system very safe without that.
Thank you...truly trial by fire but once you get over it you're stronger. nm
..
IT TAKES TIME to get a trial going.

Here is a link regarding the lawsuit from FEBRUARY, 2005 for which you will need Acrobat reader.

Here is MQ e-mail which was followed up by hard copy in US mail regarding MT lawsuit.

VIA Electronic and U.S. Mail

Dear Statutory Medical Transcriptionists:

We would like to thank you for your continued service and support. We know that the key to our success is the people who work so hard for our customers everyday.

At MedQuist, we are determined to become the medical transcription provider of choice for statutory employees. Over the past several months, with your help and input, we have been working on developing a pay plan and comprehensive benefit program that will enable us to set the standard in the industry. We recently announced significant changes to our benefits program for full time employee transcriptionists and within the next few months, MedQuist will be announcing a new pay plan that will address the feedback we received from medical transcriptionists in response to our survey on pay issues.

As you may also know, MedQuist is currently responding to a lawsuit brought by three medical transcriptionists that was filed in response to certain publicity surrounding MedQuist's billing practices involving the AAMT billing unit of measure. MedQuist takes all allegations concerning its pay practices very seriously and will seek to address any concerns raised by the lawsuit. While we believe that the claims raised by the three transcriptionists appear to lack merit, we are diligently working on addressing this matter in order to best serve all of our valued medical transcriptionists.

To enable us to fully and appropriately respond to this, as well as other lawsuits currently pending against the company and governmental investigations, our lawyers from Winston & Strawn are required to collect documents. To ensure that you are completely informed about the materials they are seeking, we have attached a memorandum below regarding MedQuist's document retention and collections policy. Please review this document as soon as possible.

Once again, we would like to express our deep appreciation for your continued patience, cooperation and service to the company.

Very truly yours,

Frank Lavelle

President

The lawsuit is VERY MUCH ALIVE AND WELL and as some of the more sophisticated posters realize, it takes time for DISCOVERY allowing both sides to attack and defend their position.  And MQ stock is STILL delisted as not even MQ can figure out cooked books based on illegal billing for which ANOTHER lawsuit is STILL pending against MQ by the clients.  And as the MQ stock remains delisted for cooked books and illegal billing the shareholders in MQ stock have YET ANOTHER lawsuit still pending.

link enclosed for trial.

This is where I downloaded the free 30 day trial from.  It also says you can order a trial CD if you prefer.  So far, I am enjoying playing with this expander.  It seems like it offers a lot!  Wish me luck..

I forgot to add that there is usually a 30-day free trial. nm

Does anyone know of a trial WAV pedal software
q
The trial version I had before did find and

that my Spybot and Ad-Aware missed.  I had some nasty at the time that my trial version of Ewido took care of quite nicely that the others couldn't.  Definitely worth the download.

So glad you posted the above, about the newer version (still had the old expired exe's in a file on my computer just as a reminder to think about buying it at some point).
