Lab test site
This may have been posted before, but I just ran across it and thought it looked pretty handy. Since I do radiology transcription, I am not familiar with a lot of lab tests, so it is nice to have a place to look them up. Anyway, here it is:

Whether they have posted a job or not. If your work is being cut to the point you can not tolerate it, heck test on 10 of them!! Pay close attention to the ones that request U.S. MTs only. They are not timed. They are open-book. You are going to learn alot. What have you got to lose? You still don't have to quit your job if you do not want to but please share these companies on this site.

I am brand new to this speciality and I am actually really liking it... but I am having trouble finding certain equipment... I was wondering if any of you have any favorite books or websites that have hard to find surgical tools/equipment?

Tessier is not a very good reference book. I have one but
haven't used it in years. I would suggest getting a Stedman's. I believe they just had a new one come out either this year or last year. There is new equipment all the time, so an updated book would save you lots of time from searching on-line.

I think it's a good, thorough test, myself.
I've taken it a few times, always passed. I never had a bit formal schooling, grandfathered into the profession without it. I think that if a person has not had thorough, recent exposure to acute care it could prove to be difficult. If a company needs to have people up and running in acute care without much mentoring, I think the test helps to establish that.
Not test? Just blindly believe you are as good as you say?
Every sort of job has some sort of testing requirements why would you think MT should be different?

and it's especially a good thing if they had waved/waived as a question on the test.

I just got overflow work from a local hospital and I am trying to get started as soon as possible. I have done searches on this site, but wanted to know if anybody could recommended a secure, HIPAA-compliant FTP site that won't charge much as this is my first account and I have almost no start-up cash. shows dosages, click on drug and generics appear, along with brand names and what med is used for. Will not do "fuzzy" search but first few letters will work. Only real drawback is site is occasionally down for updates. Check it out.

It's a test in progress to measure what MTs know and what type of test to give for the SM
different levels of MTs. It's over $90. That's a lot of money to pay to someone who is giving these tests for research as to what type of testing should be done for the different levels of MT. The AAMT will probably take the results and make a test that they can give in India or the Phillipines or some other foreign country.
