I would highly recommend any Linksys router. (This is a Cisco product and they're the leading manufacturer of routers for both home and business use.) I had used Belkin before and nothing by problems.
As the other poster noted, have your work computer plugged directly into the router; others can go wireless.

I had the same issues with the Linksys router that we bought. Couldn't connect to the company and couldn't do any file transfers. I gave that one away (couldn't find the receipt) and bought a Belkin router. It was a bit more expensive, but OH SO worth it!! I set the whole thing up in no time and with no help and no calls to tech support for the router...all just using the CD they sent. It has worked from day one without a hitch!! My suggestion: Trash the Linksys and get a Belkin. You won't regret it!
Linksys reboot
I found that I had to do this when my lovely charming neighbor was feeding off my wireless. It gives an IP conflict. Check you firewall settings for the wireless and try to keep you eyes on the blinking lights to be sure no one is feeding off your wireless. To catch them unplug the wireless and get a drink or something then plug it back in - if you do it too soon, the person feeding will just reconnect- let them think it is gone for the day.

with a Netgear router.

I just switched to Linksys about six months ago and it works wonderfully. 
I would call Linksys, but be prepared...
Linksys tech support is in India.
Netgear replaced our Linksys.
The same thing was happening to me when I had Linksys, so DH replaced it with this Netgear one has never had the problem.
The cable company said the router was causing the problem.
Agree with Cisco's Linksys
I bought a wireless G one on sale for $59 at Radio Shack and it works great. I didn't program it. I just plug it in when I want WIFI and it works great. It also stacks very nicely on my Cisco Ethernet Router.
Same here Linksys also. Works great..sm
and have never had any problems with it. I use it for a laptop and have a hard wired desktop pc. My daughter also runs off the Linksys and has had no problems.
