That is interesting, I saw her on Larry King
and he asked why she started the school there and not to help kids here and her answer was because in this country we had a public school system for the kids to go to.
I would call giving away cars to her audience giving to needy people here, I couldn't even afford tickets to go see her show if I wanted. I have always liked Oprah over the years, but lately I am just disappointed in her.

In case anyone is interested, 20/20 tomorrow night at 10 EST will have Teri Irwin (Steve's widow)
who will be interviewed for the first time since Steve's death. I think this will be an interesting and sad segment. I know a lot of people here adored Steve and want to know how she and the children are doing. Just thought I'd let everyone know!
Lucky thing for me my MD is in the office tomorrow morning, so I made an appointment for tomorrow.
If it is strep, I'll have her give me a shot of penicillin. That's what I usually do for strep. My stomach can't hardly handle taking antibiotics. I end up with vomiting and diarrhea which makes me feel even worse!
Thing is, I work for a hospital and we already have one girl off indefinitely for medical reasons. A couple of ladies didn't log on until late today because we had thunderstorms in the area. And we are way, WAY out of TAT for OPs and Discharges. So, I feel kind of bad taking a sick day. My supervisor is so stressed. She's been begging us to work OT for the last couple of weeks. How can I call her and tell her I'm sick?
I'm halfway through my shift anyway. I'll be all right. The Motrin is really helping and then I can take it easy all weekend.

It just says that she was ready to try some alternative treatments. Actually, many, many people go to Mexico and to South America for treatments that are not available here.
Unlike what some of the posters below say, they are not necessarily crackpot treatments. Most other countries do not tie their medical system up in knots like the USA does - they offer the treatment, tell the patient the risks and let the pt. decide whether to assume the risk.

He seems kind of creepy to me. I have developed enough paranoia working at home alone all these years without some guy who thinks he's a real king sneaking up on me in my back yard or trying to push me off a tall building. No thanks!
Anyone eat chicken a la king?
Chicken a LA King Recipe
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups evaporated milk or half-and-half
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
3 cups diced cooked chicken
1/4 cup chopped pimiento
Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add mushrooms and green pepper; cook for 5 minutes. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Continue stirring and cooking until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring constantly. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. If you'd like a thicker sauce, blend 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water; add to sauce, a little at a time, until desired thickness is reached. Cook for a few more minutes. Add chicken and pimiento; heat through. Serve on toast points or pastry shells or rice. Chicken a la King Recipe serves 6 to 8.

Anyone ever work at King Faisal Hospital
in Riyadh? I seriously have been thinking about it. They pay big bucks from what I've heard, no taxes, free housing, air-fare, vacation, medical, etc. Don't know how safe it is anymore since the war.

King and Prince is wonderful but pricey
Jeckyl Island has more beach than St. Simons and has more to do. St. Simons only has 1 or 2 places to stay on the beach, with K&P being the nicest and ON the beach. If you want the same experience, I would recommend staying on Jeckyl Island as you can always drive over to St. Simons as they are so close. The village on St. Simons is wonderful. Plan a whole day to spend there. Jeckyl has more to do "family style" but you can rent bikes and explore the entire island in a few hours. There are some places with wonderful snap shot opportunities (I have one from Jeckyl Island of a full moon rising over the Atlantic through tree branches as my screen saver). I went in October one year during a hurricane and playing golf on St. Simons was an adventure!! People thought we were crazy to be out there, but we had fun.

While she was in poor health since having her heart attack and stroke a few months ago it's still sad to see a legend pass away. I'm sure that her kids fighting over whether or not they should try to get the government to buy the King Center and 2 kids stealing money from the center didn't help any.
May she rest in peace.

the drugs. If you have an EDUCATION and make enough money you don't have to deal drugs. The kids in ghettos running the drugs who are getting busted are doing this because they have no education and nothing else to do to make money. THEM's the proven statistics.

I buy what I want when I want. Credit card bills can't take your house. Your credit score goes down and they hound you to death, but that's nothing. I say live it up! No, we didn't purchase the larger home because I didn't want to have to clean it! We do have 2 brand new vehicles though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lovin' it!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I work for everyday, not so I have to do without. I do "with!!!!!" I live and love and spend every day doing what I want to do and when I want to do it..... Well, I guess I gave away the fact that I'm an IC with no restrictions or limitations. Hubs works and makes decent money, but even if I didn't have his income, we'd be just fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

job interview tomorrow ... what do you think?
Hi all ... I'm going to a local hospital tomorrow for an interview. The job is in the laboratory. It's a f/t position where half the day you do pathology transcription and the other half secretarial work. It's mon-fri, 9-5.
This is in New York (the suburbs) actually, about 1/2 hour north of NYC. I have 13 years of medical records transcription experience, and prior to that for 5+ years worked as a secretary to a medical director.
How much of a salary should I expect ? Thanks!

I was told "full benefits" except dental (which my husband has), but I will get full details tomorrow during my interview. I haven't worked outside the home in so long; I think I am afraid to go back out there. Seems like a good offer from a large cardiology practice. I was told "starting at $15.00" so may have opportunity for increase there which I have never had at home.

I seriously only keep it for DH. The kids are fine without much TV and so am I. The only time I watch anything is when I ride my bike on the trainer or walk on the treadmill.
My favorite show of all time was Emergency! but I have most episodes on tape to watch that.
