Anyone know how to kill
these little boogers? I have some at my house, my feline might have had 1 for lunch and they are poisonous to kitties- any ideas? Looked on the internet but could not find anything definite. Thanks!
you people kill me! (sm)
give the woman a break, already! HER CHILD IS MISSING IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY! I'm sure she's not in her usual state of mind. Instead of running her in the ground, all this energy should be spent on positive thoughts and prayers for the family and for Natalee. They need support, not condemnation. Prayer is a mighty thing, give it a try!
Would it kill a doctor to....
Actually just spell out a name of a random physician that they include in their report? I mean, for the company I work for, we have to search physician registries and such to FIND physician names. Now, if the hospital is in Alabama and the doctor just throws it out there and says......"She once saw Dr. XXXXX in Toledo, Ohio", I mean come on now, PUH-LEASE just spell Dr. XXXXX's name for me! It will take you TWO SECONDS to do so and it takes me way too many minutes to search around and try to find this dude's name!
Not trying to be Miss Complainey Pants today, LOL, but sometimes you just gotta vent!
not kill any living thing?
oH, what about the plants? are they not living? some worship them too...and NO. I will not leave my God out of anything. My God is in me and I in Him. I will not try to separate one from the other. Sorry if my faith bothers you.
Please take her to a "No-Kill" Shelter!
Otherwise, the animals are usually put down after only a week and 1 week really isn't long enough to get the dog adopted. So Please only bring the dog to a "no-kill" shelter!
Hope they don't kill off Tony!!!

do you think if we ALL wrote to HBO that they'd keep the Sopranos on for a couple of more years??????? It wouldn't hurt to write to them - I mean how easy can it be online? *laughs*

If I gave that recipe out, he'd kill me....but....
no body lives forever, right? ;) My son makes three 8-inch round cake layers, cuts off the tops to make them all flat then cuts each layer in half (using a piano wire--very culinary :). The rasp. filling from scratch takes forever, but a quick alternative is to heat rasp. jelly on low and add regular nonflavored brandy. Heat stirring constantly until it thickens a little and is spreadable. This should not take very long at all (heating too high for too long will turn it into hard candy when it cools). Spread between the cake layers. The genache is just white chocolate, butter and heavy cream. My son goes by what the stuff looks like with regards to how much of each he needs, but I'll bet you can find a recipe on epicurious. com or the like. I know this is not exact, but hope it helps a little.
Okay then, should you kill every animal that scares you be it a dog or - sm
or a cat....does not make sense. They are animals, they just want to be left alone. Some people scare me sometimes, should I go out and shoot them? People need to be a bit more tolerant. I am not a huge fan of snakes either but I will never understand the killing of any animal unless it is for food or if the animal attacks.
so in other words, kill everything that is causing--sm

Hey, I've done that before and they didn't kill me.
I told my boss right away what I did and apologized. I still have my job.
Yes, as a matter of fact, it WOULD kill them.
And the planet might fall out of orbit too.
I once had to tell a doctor that I'd only been to Ireland once, and thus didn't know any of the same people over there that he did, so when he was writing letters to them and mentioning other people's names (all with the accent of course) I had NO clue who he was talking about.... Somehow, that was an odd concept to him. Doesn't everybody know all the same people in Ireland??
some jerk wanted to kill my pigeons
I have lots of doves, regular birds (sparrows, finches, you name it) and pigeons frequent my property cause I put bird seed down. I had some guy come by last winter and ask if he could pay me to catch the pigeons so they could kill them and eat them..I said, honey, I love animals and there is no way Im gonna let you come here and kill my pigeons..you are talking to the wrong person, LOL..

Need to vent... (If you have time to kill, check it out!)
I am so frustrated right now I could just scream! If nobody even makes it to the end of this I will understand, but I'm just livid.
First of all, I was due my paycheck on the 15th. I work for a small MTSO, and our checks are frequently late at the end of the month. (The checks due the last day of the month usually get paid sometime during the first week. I'm used to that now.) But the paycheck on the 15th is consistently on time. Our mortgage is due on the 1st with a grace until the 15th. With the terrible economy and struggling like we tend to do, we usually pay on the 15th. We save half our checks from the 1st week of the month then pay the mortgage when we both get paid on the 15th so that we don't have to take the huge mortgage hit out of one paycheck but rather spread it out over two. (Hope that makes sense.) Well, I was told on Monday that we would PROBABLY be paid by FRIDAY, but that it's not for sure. Since I won't have my check, and we will be paying after the 15th, we will get a $75 late fee on our mortgage. Is it too much to expect to be paid ON TIME?
It gets better. The very next day after this news, my MTSO emailed me saying that a client was missing 5 patient reports. She kind of went "high and right" on me saying that she didn't have them, the client didn't have them, I didn't send them, where are they, etc. I was calm, knowing that I didn't make that mistake. I went back and found the files. I sent the files. I then went back and searched my email until I found the email that contained the missing files. I forwarded the email in its entirety, complete with headers showing the time and date it was sent, and put in the email what basically amounted to, "The original email contained 20 files, 7 of which were for other clients and 13 of which were from XYZ Ortho. Since the other clients never complained of missing files, and since XYZ Ortho isn't complaining about the other 8 files, I am confident that you sent the files on to XYZ Ortho and they just lost them." (Which this client has done over the last four years, losing files that have been sent and then blaming us.) I finished with, "I have forwarded the original email so that you can use this to show the client that the problem is not with their Transcriptionist - don't let them blame us!"
I graciously did not point out what I really wanted to point out, which was that I sent my boss the files like I do every morning. If the client lost their files, there is still no reason why my boss shouldn't have been able to pull them up from her computer!
The next day, however, I get a pissy email saying "I never got your original email. I searched my computer and I searched my computer and the files are not there. You will have to get a more reliable ISP, because I'm not getting your email.... " She went on to blame me for the problem in SPITE of the fact that I already pointed out that the problem could not possibly have been with me.
Now I'm really cheesed, because either she's just plain dense or she thinks I'm just plain dense. I wrote back reiterating that I just forwarded her the original email. She's only missing FIVE files. The original email contained TWENTY files for DIFFERENT clients (including one that is VERY picky about getting their files back in less than 24 hours -- if they hadn't gotten their files I would have heard about it weeks ago! ). I told her that why she can't find the five missing files on her computer or in her email is obviously a problem on HER end, but considering that my other clients aren't missing anything and the problem client is only missing a few of the files, the problem clearly is not with me. I sent the files. The files were recieved. What happened next, either with her or with the client, is not something I can control.
The next day I get an email that said, "Found the problem. Thanks."
WHAT? She accuses me of losing files, not sending files, put it on me and then when it's pointed out that she's the one who did something wrong there's no "Sorry I blamed you, it was my fault." I'm telling you, I am HOT.
This on top of the fact that I'm not getting paid is the reason why I am currently interviewing for a work-primarily-from-home analyst position with a local company. I really expect professionalism, and this isn't it!
If you've made it this far, you deserve a hug. Thanks for listening!
If you go to HBO they have chat area and someone predicted they will kill the characters off (sm)
one by one, and a few other predictions. I'm really going to miss this show. I guess the last one in August 21st. I will say that since all the TV companies seem to be ending the shows I watched the most, it'll make it easier for me to give up TV this fall, dang it.
Well, I gotta' tell you, if a living snake comes my way, I'm gonna kill him. nm

U love beta fish? Aren't those the ones that kill
I remember my exhusband always had Japanese beta fish when we were married. As I recall, if my memory serves me well, these specific male fish impregnate the female fish and then when she has the babies, the beta (male) squeezes all life out of the mom and kills her after she has the babies. Just the idea of this made me hate this type of fish 4ever.
Just one person's opinion though! No flaming please! *LOL*
don't stress too much about it (sm)
It's really not hard to learn at all. It may seem overwhelming, I mean all the manuals they send you about it, but honestly, I haven't even opened them, except during training...which BTW, I didn't get paid for...but that's another issue! Anyways, it's fine...I only use the built in expander also, and I like it! You'll be fine...don't stress over it. Good luck!

I either play with my dog, walk or read something that requires no brain!
Stress
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to relieve stress? I work 8-10 hours a day, have a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old, and a husband who does not believe MT is a real job, and major financial stressors.
I have been slowly losing my hair over the past 6 years which I believe may be due to hormonal shock (2 babies in quick succession) and then stress and maybe adrenal fatigue.
I am hoping a stress-free living will help me regain myself and my hair! Thanks.
It's CHINA for Pete's sake, where they still kill girl babies. Do you think
they have some sort of dog euthanasia patrol of paid government employees? Puhleeeze yourself.
For what reason would someone take a chance of breaking into someone's house to kill their 6-year
It was an inside job - Patsy did it.
The pay is really good, but the stress so-so!
I do have some great MTs that I QA for and I bless them every day LOL. The title is nice on paper, yes. I don't plan on being in this profession forever, but since I do have some type of supervisory under belt, that will be good.
Hand stress
I've transcribed since 1983. You can lessen hand stress if you observe how you hold your hands as you type. When I was in my twenties I noticed that there was a real difference in the way I held my hands and how the older transcriptionists (they had their wrists up and hands pointing down at the keyboard). I have always had my wrists laying on something and my fingers are going up. I have never had one bit of carpal tunnel or pain whatsoever.
Stress in the office
I'm one of the unlucky ones NOT at home, but still in the office. The stress level in there is making us all sick, both physically and mentally. I would get out of MT and learn to do something else if I didn't think that by the time I finally got through school, I'd be too old to be hired.
Yes, but no. I used to stress over it when we had to eat two meals
between my parents and the in-laws. Then I started hosting, but that was stressful because it was expensive and a lot of other reasons that I won't get into. DH and I got into an argument because he's upset that I refuse to host this year. I've done it for the past several years. We don't have the money and half of our house is ripped apart for repairs, plus I have to work both Wednesday and Friday while all the in-laws are off those days. I don't care. I quit. They can do whatever they want to do. I'm tired of being a people-pleaser.
reduce your stress
i guess you have someone sharing the load. it is hard to reduce your stress level if you are the breadwinner, caretaker, and housekeeper.
STRESS ECHO
Agree with the other poster. More than likely, in my experience, the tech just didn't do a good job and that is why the images are not clear.
What do you do for stress reduction?
I am 100% stressed to the max, all the time. I wish I wasn't so high strung and jittery. So what do you do to relax and reduce stress? I need ideas.
stress reduction
I have lots of hobbies that I enjoy soI can easily immerse myself in one of those and forget my troubles for awhile. My favorite hobby is scrapbooking. I also go to the gym daily and that helps reduce stress as well.
Less stress so true
A few of us on this particular discussion feel the same way. I have felt only a tiny degree of stress working overnight transcribing. It is the only luxury time just for me. This is why I switched. It is so quiet. I am not scared the kids will bug me or husband or some emergency at school etc. I love my work at night I get the stats and ops and they are so interesting. I must say I would have died early if I kept days and or second shift because the family has needs. Now, at night I am 100% me and transcribing, my productivity is great. So, if I get cancer I would be surprised because I think that stress makes a person open to all kinds of diseases. To you night owls out there enjoy your peace and quiet, this is your "me" time!
job stress. die or get fired.
i am quite upset. one of my co-workers passed away. we here all know it was from job stress, but we are not to admit it and were repremanded so by our superiors. basically it came down to "die or get fired". lucky for her she died before she could get fired.
now i am sitting here at work today wondering what the heck am i supposed to do? we cannot talk about the job stress and that is what did her in, but she was sick and getting sicker and this is why she passed away. she was sick and getting sicker from the stress dawg-gone it.
nobody gets it.
tuesday she told me that a lot of her sickness had to do with wondering if she was going to have a job or not and what would she do if she got fired? she was beside herself with worry. she worked her for 25 years, and was a good employee and excellent Transcriptionist until the new supervisor took over and started ragging on her like a pit bull dog and his prey. and this is a catholic hospital. i guess this is the new christian work ethic.
i need to vent. any comments would be appreciated but since i am at work please make them nice. i have had enough bad stuff happen around here today.
Would it kill you people to give constructive advice instead of insults and insensitivity?!?
I understand your frustration. I think you just need to sit down and have a talk with your employer. Find out exactly what they want your status to be. As an employee, yes they do have the right to dictate your hours, where you work, etc., but they do not have the right to jerk you around. If they want you to work at home, then they need to provide for that, not you! Anyone who says otherwise is wrong! In any industry, if a company wants you to commute, they pay for gas/mileage. If they want you to have a cell phone/pager, they either pay for it, or they provide an allowance for it. If they want you to work at home, they provide equipment. It sounds to me like they want way too much and are giving very little. Just because a person/company is the employer, it does not give them the right to treat people like dirt, sending them on wild goose chases, interfering with their life, schedule, expenses, etc. I am sorry you have received such critical and insensitive comments. I hope this works out for you. Blessings!
Exactly! The money was great, but the stress...
and long hours were certainly not worth it. I still don't get why JJ or whoever would care about anyone's bb name. Personally, I have more important things to get my panties in a twist over. We all have our hangups I suppose.
Stress and long hours
So, you're saying that you got tired of the stress and long hours so you bacame a TRANSCRIPTIONIST! You crack me up. Everybody knows that as a Transcriptionist there is never any stress or long hours.
Morning stress reducers
When my kids were young, there were a few tricks I used to cut down on hectic mornings. I didn't make sandwiches ahead but I did prebag chips and cookies and place is a drawer. That way just had to reach in and grab a couple of bags and lunch was halfway prepared. The night before, kids always picked out the clothes for the next day. And there was no changing minds that morning either, or they lost 1/2 hour of TV time. Also, backpacks got loaded up the night before and placed by the door. A little extra thought and effort the night before made mornings a little less hectic.
Repetitve Stress Injury
Thanks so much for the help and advice. Yes, I do have the screen eye level but I might be able to adjust a few things. I think the doctor is my next stop however. One thing I notice is maybe I need to get to stretching more between dictations. I have a tendecy to focus on the work for too long.
If you think you have stress now, wait until you are a teacher.

Anyone with experience with stress echo?
Does anyone know what it would mean to have a stress echo where everything was normal at rest, person exercised normally to 99% of predicted with minimal symptoms, and at the end of the test echo images were not clear. Tech then said this was the wrong test, and of course, lips were sealed as to what that meant. Anyone with any knowledge of this or experience? Thanks.
