dog liver failure
Mine died from Deramaxx too. She developed liver failure and had a horrible death at home in my husband's arms. When I heard about the Vioxx recall I immediately called my vet, concerned about Deramaxx, and they assured me it was fine. She was dead a month later. We blame ourselves because we had also given her Revolution, prevention for heartworms and fleas, and she became lethargic and vomiting four 2 days after that, which probably weakened her liver further.
Your liver is NOT enlarged. ULN is just what it says...
upper limits of normal. I would venture to say that if you had had an MRI of your liver done when you were 25, it would have said liver was ''upper limits of normal (borderline)'' and spleen was ''relatively small'' bordering on hyposplenism. That's just the way God put ya together. Now stop it. And get back to work.
Don't get your liver in a quiver -- yes
I told her about the boyle (boil) and did you not read about QA. Hey, if she has another spelling of that, no skin off my back if wrong. Don't know how your QA works, but mine much more forgiving of a letter than a completely wrong word like the above. Just trying to give her correct but maybe you think that is right in the first place?
So do mine - and they also love liver, like me!!
Any other liver lovers out there?
Liver protruding through the abdominal wall
My father just had an MRI and it shows that his liver is protruding though the abdominal wall. He has a hugh "bump" on his right side, sort of like a hernia. The doctor is baffled by this and says that she has never seen anything like it before. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
To chopped liver, read all of the thread,
thinking that I don't feel so bad now. I have two sons, been through the death of their father at their very young ages, and all the hard times raising them on my own. My younger son NEVER forgets me, even if he has tough financial problems, at the very least he gives me a card and little bouquet of flowers. Anything is a surprise to me because I don't really expect anything, just grew up with that way of thinking. Up until a few years ago, the older son would remember me, and I keep those memories close in my heart, but yesterday, Mother's Day, was the first Mother's Day he remembered since he married a few years the Real Witch of the East! They do not come here for any holiday as she has her own "traditions" which exclude our family, unless we want to go over there and spend the holiday with them. Would be well and fine, but I don't know what is worse; not seeing my son and grandchildren (her stepsons), or putting up with her. Besides, my younger son would NEVER go over there for whatever holiday. I get to see them the day after, except this Easter, when I was told "You'll see the kids on Friday (after Easter)." So you see, you're not alone with the pains / disappointments of holidays. Can't wait until my grandsons get married, and she gets it all back!
Did they check his liver functions and does he still drink?
My son had that problem a few years ago. He's 30 now and his liver function tests were through the roof when he was checked. Once he stopped all alcohol intake, his night sweats completely disappeared. He used to sweat so much it looked like he wet the entire bed and even his wife would be wet.
The whole notion of a liver detoxification is just a marketing ploy and a myth.

Health question-liver enlargement? Scared to death
GYN ordered MRI of abdomen and pelvis without contrast due to pelvic pain and previous uterine resuspension suspecting I might have cyst, etc. I am 44 and have been healthy all my life (never smoked or drank or used drugs, exercise, not overweight and eat very healthy) just perimenopausal and using bioidentical progesterone last 1-1/2 years and last 6 months started on thyroid supplementation (low dose T3/T4) for hypothyroidism. Since starting these 2 things, I have been feeling great compared to previous lack of energy, etc. Got results of the MRI today but haven't seen doctor yet. Everything looked fine on abdominal scan (gallbladder, pancreas, adrenals, bone marrow, etc) except report said liver was ''upper limits of normal (borderline)'' and spleen was ''relatively small'' bordering on hyposplenism. Okay, now I am totally freaking out. On routine screening, my LFTs have always been within normal (latest 10/2005). I did use oral contraceptives up until about 6 years ago and used them from ages 18 to 25 and then 28 to 38. I haven't been able to transcribe at all today, just sitting here in tears. Keep thinking of all the reports I have typed which seem to indicate liver enlargement indicative of very serious matters. MRI doesn't mention anything about lesions, nodules, etc., but it was noncontrast so I am wondering whether it would pick this up or not. I am obsessing and wondered if anyone could give me some insight. I have been ''Googling'' all afternoon and everything I read sounds awful. Is it possible to just have a slightly larger liver than what the normal range is? Can the reading of an MRI be influenced by the skill of the radiologist or affected by artifacts (it did begin report saying motion artifact noted but I think this is common on all MRIs from what I have read)? I did do the ''breath-holding technique'' when doing the scan. I am wondering if my years of contraceptives could have predisposed me to this and possibly the absolute worst, liver cancer? I really don't have digestive problems except sometimes it seems like my food sits heavy on my stomach and takes a few more hours than usual before I am hungry again; this is usually around ovulation or right before menses. Sorry this is so long. Just need some insight before I lose my mind here.
