Just because one or two publications or other - sm

media turn down a story, doesn't mean two, or four, or six others won't snap it up. The important thing is not so much WHO puts our story out there to be heard (or ignored, or whatever), but how many HEAR it. Getting published in 4 small papers and one backwater TV show can get as much word out as one major publication. And if 2 people who read it talk to 2 more people, who talk to 2 more, etc., word of mouth can generate additional interest. I agree that HIPAA violations are one of our best bests to getting this problem out in the open, and not behind the gool 'ol boys' closed meetings. If patient records are worth dictating, and storing, then they're work transcribing accurately and the information is worth being kept in our own country.
