Are you using Mozilla Firefox? if not, you probably should be.

Firefox by Mozilla
I have used it for years. If you interface with your browser for your transcription needs, be sure it is compatible with your company.
If you use Mozilla Firefox, see inside.

You can list websites that tend to lure you away from working, and block them for various periods of time. This has been a great help to me.
Mozilla home page
I used to have AOL. I got rid of it because it was expensive and I had security problems. Now it's free, but I can't tell if the part I miss is free, and I don't know enough to know if I can still be using Mozilla and have free AOL. I just don't get how all this stuff works - sorry. I hate to put this in question to a tech board because tech people really look down on AOL. But what I liked was the way you came to a page with a wide variety of news stories, pictures, and interesting stuff. There was a lot of fun customizing you could do with graphics, but mostly I think I miss the opening page. I have not come across anything with as much variety as far as AOL's page, say with Yahoo. Can I have a home page like that with Mozilla?
Firefox for me.
.
Never mind, I used Firefox ...
instead of Internet Exploder and I worked fine.
Firefox with NoScript
I have just finished up my MT training. I was in the computer industry since 1995 but lost my last 2 jobs to overseas...so...I tried this.
Only to see, you have the same issues.
At any rate, MS Internet Explorer has many security flaws. You would be shocked to learn how easy it is to get a keylogger on to your system.
The safest way for you to be on the internet is to use Mozilla Firefox. You can download it here...
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
After that, you need to also get the addon called "No Script" for firefox. This stops website from running malicious scripts on your PC. You can get that here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
Once installed both programs will auto update when new updates are released. No Script updates frequently but I assure you that this is the only way to surf the Internet safely.
They also have alot of other cool addons you can look at and provide an email program as well.
If you are looking for anti-virus and anti-spyware that is FREE then use AVG.
http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
All of that is just basic stuff. You can move up to firewall and lots of other security tools but just having Firefox will really help.
I will advise that like everything else...there is a bit of a learning curve. Using No Script will lock everything down and require you to "Allow" pages you want to use. Also, as with all Microsoft operating systems...the more you add the slower the boot process and general operating.
Good Luck!
Firefox Crashed
Anyone know how to restore website/database after Firefox crashes ??

Ditto. Firefox is the way to go. Best security, as well.

Nope. I switched to Firefox months ago and LOVE it. nm

That is "web site" in post above. Also, Auto Copy add-on for Firefox will automatically copy
Auto Copy add-on for Firefox AUTOMATICALLY copies what you select (highlight) on a web site to the clipboard.
Then you can paste it in a document.
It just saves the step of right clicking and then clicking on "copy" to put something on the clipboard. Just select it, and it is on the clipboard.
It only works only on web sites-- only copies stuff you select on web sites, i.e. not in other documents.
can you use Firefox with Norton? I have Norton, but some popups still get through. nm
