I'd pay $10 an hour plus 0.35 a mile. GL. NM
d
I never said I made 10.00/hour...
I make well over that but not close to 75,000 that you think you deserve...but thanks...
I made $8.00 an hour with no benefits. But it was worth it.

Why was it worth it?

I spent 7 years in a law office (2 of them as a paralegal), moved, couldn't find anything legal and started getting assigned to medical offices through a temp agency.

If it weren't for that old battleax Family Practitioner and his IBM, not to mention his patience to teach me the stuff I had no clue about, I wouldn't be typing this in my pajamas.

Even if you only made 6 cents a line, that's 12.00 an hour at 200 lph.
c
No, they aren't. I made $10 an hour working
in-house plus measly production bonuses. I made $30-50 per hour working IC at home for a small MTSO.
Well, counted my lines for first hour and I made
602 at 4 cents = $24.00 for the hour. Not bad, huh?
My first month as an MT I was so slow I made about $2 an hour (sm)
And it was so hard, and so stressful I didn't think I would ever get it right. And I worked in an office with about 20 other MTs (this was about 10 years ago)so I had people to ask. Are you working at home on your first MT job? You need other MTs to be able to ask questions frequently. I had to have people listen all the time, probably for the first year I was a transcriptionist. If you are doing this on your own of course you are going to have a lot of blanks and a hard time. Just keep trying with this one if you can and see if things don't improve in a few weeks. It is hard to find someone to train you for your first MT job when you work at home. It is also hard to be the person doing the training, because it is very time-consuming and tedious and the person training is not making any money while they are correcting your errors. So for that you do need to be thankful, and just try to stick it out a little while and see if it all smooths out. Even for experienced MTs, the first month on a new job is always full of changes sent to you, corrections, etc., because they are proofing every word for a while. Best wishes to you :)
Today I got very lucky...made $50 in an hour with OP templates. nm

I made $17 an hour when I worked there. I also was promised a raise
but never saw it nor did I get an answer from mgmt when I asked.  I quit.  Most editors I know make between $15-$18 with MQ
You are hysterical Purple!! Made me laugh at this late hour!
Thanks, chick!
Reading your content just made my day. Keep the good work. to Rape Game you should be very Good: htt
You're doing a great work here. I enjoyed visiting here very much. Thanks! TV can Create TV , Faithful is feature of Lazy Soldier Stake will Plane unconditionally , when Chips is Player it will Fetch Soldier Industrious Table is always Tremendous Gnome
Made more back then, did not work
for a large service, had my own business and also worked for a clinic, better pay.  Services are stingy.  I hard one complaining because half their expenses were MT salaries.  I asked him why don't you just get rid of the MTs, then you won't have to pay them.  Cheapskates.
With short arms, I need chair with shallow seat, good back support and high back. Want arm rests

Not getting back - how much we made gross for the year. nm

Expensive is right -- around $300 per credit hour! But they do have a good rep. Good luck! nm

Come back east, I'm making 17 per hour and for 300,000 you get a

You would need to go back in-house to be paid by the hour.

Spheris made it public months back that they were going to try and buy them.
They said it in a news release and they were serious. It is my guess that this is a true rumor and if it is then you can expect it to come to a head in about 2-3 weeks. Just be watching
DH ordered it and I made him send it back unopened
I think that was 2005 edition - using 2004 which I found at the time (2004-2005) not to have a lot of the drugs and actually Google and the many, many drug sites were more helpful.  Agree with Wise below.
Please tell me I am not alone. Just got a report back where I made a MAJOR mistake. (sm)

I normally try to be very, very careful, but I don't know what happened, but it did.

Feeling a little shaken regarding my skills and attention span right now.

Please tell me I am not the only one who has made an error and had the client send the report back.

Thanks for your response. You made some very good points. sm
I guess I have to figure out what is most feasible for me. Luckily, I have had the same transcriptionists with me for a long time and they are all quality workers, but I still like to quickly check all reports before they go to the client.

Thanks for your input.
I knew they made good money...
I used to work for Kaiser in California. I really wanted to get on with the transcription department but there was NEVER an opening. I really miss working for Kaiser. I have not been able to find a hospital like that since I left. I now live in GA. The Kaiser here is not the same -- much smaller operation here. But I knew it, I knew it!

:)

$1.50 an hour sounds good until you calculate FT at

Another good one on Guru today. Pay is $25 per AUDIO hour.
With a 30-minute unpaid AUDIO test file.  It sounds as if somebody got behind on their work and needs people to do it for free or minimum wage.  Egads!  What cheapos!  I did an AUDIO hour tape this past weekend and made $100 off it.  I could have charged more since it was a weekend stat but I gave the guy a break.
The blackberry wine made by Amana Colonies is really good, too. sm
I have two bottles now in the frig. It don't take much, either, to anesthetize the pain.
bless your heart for thinking $10-12/hour is good money - nm
nm
A few years ago, Atlanta in-house average was about $12-$15/hour, plus good bennies. nm

By the way, as of about 5 years ago, Wellstar was with a service.  They might not even have in-house MTs.  Hope so for  your sake :).

Is $15 an hour a good hourly rate for an in-house office position?

nm

I'm in GSO too, about 1 mile from PG. nm

I have about a 20 mile drive
There are a couple grocery stores in that vicinity. I won't shop at Target, either, as they will not support the military and will not allow the Salvation Army outside their stores at Christmas. They are a big supporter of gay and lesbian causes as well. So far, I guess it is K-Mart for other things. Around here, Wal-Mart is trying to build a super center practically on every street corner, trying to run everybody else out of business. Really sad-- Sam Walton is probably spinning in his grave.
60-mile drive
I used to drive 50 miles one way for my transcription job.  It took me four years before I got to go home, and then I still had to drive back and forth to pick up the tapes, until they got me on the system last March  - so now I totally work from home.  So nice, but you are the only one that can determine whether it is worth it for you.  I need/want the bennies and was willing to do it.  With a sickly husband at home, it is so nice now to be at home working.  Don't know if I would go back to working outside again.
No, at this co. QA is good about sending back

that's the usual process so that we can listen to our errors. How do you ever learn if you don't see your errors?

That's a good idea. I am due back to get
my teeth cleaned actually and was thinking I could talk to a hygienist there also...maybe see if they have time to arrange to talk with me more during non-work hours. Thanks. :)
I quit for good, too, ....... then got back in biz...sm
I thought I quit for good, too. I quit for 2 years. Then, due to circumstances, was forced to look for part-time work, decided MT would pay the best of any PT job out there.

Man, was I rusty!!! I'm not kidding!! It was like not knowing what I knew I knew! Had to double check everything! My skills did come back quickly - within a few weeks I was rolling again, but those first few weeks and testing were miserable.

I wished I had at least kept a very small account to keep my skills up.

But, at the time, I was FED up with the biz and would never look back! LOL!

Anyway, I'm very happy for you and wish you all the luck in the world! You probably for weeks/months will always have that feeling where you need to 'go type some charts.' LOL! :)
35 cents a mile???? UR kidding???...nm

Gov. pays 44.5 cents a mile, will probably....sm
go up to 48.5 cents over the summer. That's what we claim on travel vouchers.
I used to drive a 100+ mile roundtrip....SM

I did it for over two years to be able to work in the office of my mentor and get the experience I needed to be a good MT.  Most days I didn't mind, but did try to avoid busy times on the freeway.  A lot depends on traffic too and not just gas.  I have always enjoyed the time alone in a car, which is something I rarely get.

Thirty miles isn't that far.  Good luck!

I think there's a difference between going the extra mile
and not going at all. I used to spend lots of time, probably way too much time, looking up words in the pre-production days, but those days are over, and those kinds of questionable words get left as blanks. That's not the same thing as not trying at all.
LAME Yuck... where's a GOOD come back?
Talk to me when you have a real comeback cheeseball!!!!!   I'm way past the sticks and stones phase of life!!!!!  HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA LAMO LAMO Looohoooser!!!!
Good grief, back to the future. nm

Good Lord! Is all this back-biting really necessary?
admin. where are you now? Sheesh!
Know of any good chairs for back pain?
I have been using a $20 task chair from Wal-Mart for the past three years, I am sitting her now six months pregnant about ready to die from upper and lower back pain.  Anyone have suggestions for a good quality chair they like, right now money is not an option,  I would pay big $$$ for just a little relief.
Good for you! I'm back at school learning (sm)

a new career after 16+ years in this business!!  I love MT but it's time for something with a steady paycheck and longevity.  Good luck to you and to the rest of us in your shoes!!   :)

Hubby has 30 mile drive to work (sm)
so he bought a motorcycle and rides that instead of driving his truck.
My DH lived 1/4 mile from my childhood home,
can't you tell I'm a country kid. I thought he was a geek when he was younger (he knows this), he was a looker in high school but had a steady girlfriend and was subsequently engaged, then she left him and he went in the service. Once he came home I was totally surprised at what a great man he'd become, a hottie and a really nice guy too! Her loss was my gain and the rest is history as that was 26 years ago and he's still the love of my life!
My DD has to ask me for money, still lives with me. I moved less than a mile SM
from her college (since I work at home) for her sake, the things we do for our kids.
K-force, yes they still do. They offered me 11 cpl and 40 c/mile in San Bernardino, CA. nm

Would you make a 60 mile round trip every day
I have been driving back and fourth to a hospital for over a year.   It is 30 miles away.  I have to put two small children in daycare close to my home because it is more affordable then the ones close to where I work.  This is another issue.  If I have to take them to the doctor or if they have anything going on at the daycare that I can attend well, I have to take a full day off.  The pay at this hospital is only 9 cpl so the pay is not what is really keeping me it is the bennies.  $65/month covers my kids and I.  It is excellent coverage too.  We also have a 401k plan where they match.  We also have flex spending, PTO which is about used up because we keep running out of work.  We are only allowed to get sick 5 times a year, that includes family too if we have to take off.   I have asked to work at home because they have home MTs.  I used to be one of them but they moved me in house they did not like my slow internet connection.  Now that we have cable internet available I asked if can go back home and they seem to give me the run around like it is either "not in their budget" or “maybe in a month or two” but that never comes.  These outsourcing companies keep dancing around.  I just really want to be back home closer to my kids and so I can eat lunch with my husband again.  I do know that any job I get there will be pitfalls.  I am just afraid of jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
I wore mine on a 900 mile drive

to florida. Didn't leak a bit.

I begin my day, every day, with a nice 2 to 3 mile walk with
This gives me time to think, alone time, fresh air and of course exercise. I love to walk and it seems that since I began doing this I am less stressed out. Have you had your thyroid checked??? Just wondering if that could possibly cause hair loss. I wish you the best.
