Sounds like a case of poor upbringing, but still.... (s/m)
I find it hard to believe people can make it to marrying age without having at least HEARD about thanking people for gifts, even if their parents never taught them any manners.
I try not to take it too personally, but always, somewhere deep inside my mind, I never forget it when I go to a lot of trouble to give a gift and it isn't at least acknowledged. When my nephew got married, not only did a travel a great distance to attend the wedding, and was the only person from my branch of the family to attend, but I went to great lengths to pick out exactly the right gift for them. On arriving at the wedding, there was a big table where everyone put their gifts, and I added mine to the pile. The card was firmly attached, so I know it didn't fall off. Still, to this day (26 years later), I have never had any mention that they even RECEIVED my gift. I suppose it COULD have lost its tag, or even been stolen from the table, etc., but it's not too likely. Especially since all his siblings, AND his parents, were terrible at acknowledging gifts received from people. I of course am crazy about my nephew & his family, but that little "scar" still lingers in the back of my mind. As a result, I didn't bother to attend any more weddings in that part of the family, so his actions had repercussions on other people, as well!
A few years later, a niece got married, and this one I've never figured out. Beforehand, after the engagement was announced, I was invited to the SHOWER, and though I could not attend, did send a gift. The gift was never acknowledged. Not only that, but even though I was very close with this niece and her family, even lived with them for a couple years, I wasn't invited to the wedding or even the reception. The excuse was there "wasn't enough room." Hmmm.... whatEVER!
Their mother, my sister-in-law, is where their training was lacking. I had given her several very nice gifts for Christmas in years past, and I have no way of knowing if she even received them. Apparently I wasn't the only one who noticed this. For as long as I can remember, my mother could never stand this sister-in-law, even though she was always very nice to my mom. Turns out that 'way back when she was having her first child, my mom gave her a baby-gift - a hand-knitted blanket - and never got any kind of a thank-you. My mom took it a lot more personally, and has never had a good word to say about her ever since.
A few years ago, my sister-in-law called and left a message on my answer-machine asking me (on very short notice) if I would go up to my niece's house and take care of all their pets (dogs, cats, rabbits), as they were on vacation, and although my sister-in-law was babysitting the house and animals, she had decided to go meet them at their beach house (hmmm... wonder if she was even INVITED?)... and would I be kind enough to come take care of the animals. I rearranged my schedule in order to do that, went and fed, watered, cleaned up after, etc. the pets, which wasn't easy because I didn't know where anything was - had to do a lot of searching. And did I ever even get so much as a phone call from either of them, thanking me for caring for their pets? NO. So as you can see, each time someone fails to show appreciation for the little things we do for them, it creates a little erosion in our perception of, and respect for that person.
My mom positively HAMMERED it into our brains that all gifts and kindnesses deserve a hand-written thank-you! As soon as we could scrawl our names with crayons, we were taught to send thank-you notes to relatives who sent us gifts, let us stay over at their house, etc.
On a recent ski-trip, I had the misfortune to come out of the lodge at the end of the day to find my beloved skis and poles were gone! I reported them missing at the lost-&-found desk, but figured I'd never seem them again, and sadly went home without them, assuming my ski season was over. WELL! A few days later, the security guard at the ski resort called to tell me they'd been FOUND! Another person had mistaken mine for their rental-skis, and taken them by mistake. The security guard went out of his way to meet them in a town midway between the ski area and where they lived, exchanged my skis for their rentals, and then took my skis to his house, and finally back up to the ski area. The lost and found dept. talked with me several times to arrange a time when I would be skiing again, so I could pick them up. Although this was obviously part of these people's jobs, I was still extremely grateful that they had found my "babies" and salvaged the ski season for me! So in addition to thank-you notes, both the lost-&-found dept. and the security guard got plates of my very BEST homemade cookies.
So, what goes around, SHOULD come around, I say. Okay, now here's a similar thing that happened to me... but I'll put it in a new post at the top as a separate subject. Tell me how you'd feel about THIS odd situation! ;)
Sounds like a textbook case of passive aggressive behavior.

I wouldn't use lower case. I'd use upper case. Don't worry about it. nm

he was a classic
couldn't stomach him
Not if you use it in the classic expander (sm)
emulation mode -- still incredible increases in line counts without bothering with all that marker key nonsense.
I'm happy with 300-450 lines per hour.
Classic migraines
If you have migraines with an aura that involves visual scotomas or "flashing lights" as part of it, That can be worse that then actual headache...(plus the nausea, vomiting, numbness in the arms or face, loss of speech, etc)it's a warning of the headache to come. I have suffered from these debilitating migraines since the age of 5 (maybe longer) and am now in my 40s...I've tried everything...I have the migraine abnormality on my EEG as well.
A neurologist told me when I was 16 I had a disease and would just have to learn to leave with it (nice guy eh? and ya maybe lose 10 pounds!)....anyway a year ago I had a terrible bout and again saw a neurologist (took me 25 years). This guy was young and energetic and said I did not have to suffer like that and I had more of a "pseudo-seizure" episode going on. He put me on Topamax and OH MY GOD! It's a miracle...instead of 2-3 migraines a week, it's one every 2-3 months - no joking....ask your doc. I've settled on 75 mg twice a day. The only major side effect is I can't drink pop as it's screwed up my taste buds. But hey, that's nothing to give up. Do some research on line. I wish you success. I go back for my one year checkup in November and this is the fewest migraines I've had in my life! I may even try to go down to 50 mg twice a day as maintenance dosage. Hope this helps!
Classic! Never tire of this.

i use the kinesis classic
and you can re-map/program the keys if you want to. since the backspace and space bar are used so much, is it usually better for the stronger thumb to do it than the little finger. again, with the classic, you can reprogram. When i called kinesis with some questions they were very helpful. i'm not a leftie, so can't answer to that. mine fits on my under-desk tray, but not to put away underneath. warning -- it does take some serious effort to get used to. but it has helped same my arm nerves in a huge way. i've been at this 32 yr myself. i'd never go back to another kind. I didn't get near as much help from the microsoft ergo board.
Kinesis Classic has no # pad, but
not sure if it is quiet enough. i'd have to look it up but i think you can turn on and off the clicky-clicks.
my kinesis classic
has it in the center-bunch, where you use your left thumb for it (unless you want to reprogram it somewhere else).
Kinesis Classic Keyboard
It took me several days I believe to get use to the Kinesis. I just started out slow and when I became frustrated trying to use it I went back to the regular keyboard but soon found I was having more trouble typing on a regular keyboard so stuck with the Kinesis only and I would say it may have taken me two weeks to get back to speed but it has been well worth it to me.
I had OT come out to my house and they suggested I put something under the edge of my keyboard, the edge closest to me, so it would be basically neutral. I found a long wrist rest under that edge puts the keyboard at a perfect height for a neutral position. It is just one of those cheap foam ones like you find at Walmart but it works great.
It is the softest touch keyboard I have ever used which really ended finger fatigue for me. It also helped with my fingers aching and some of my hand pain. I had to change to an Evoluent mouse (as I posted below) and my right hand hand/arm pain stopped.
Now, if only I could just find a way to stop my chronic back pain. :D
Let us know what you decide on and how it works for you, ok?
Not a classic "over achiever" either, just not sure what else could be the cause...
Over achiever? Possible too, but I don't think that really fits him either. While he is a very bright kid, he is just like any other seven-year-old boy I know...and while his father and I do encourage him to try his best, we certainly do not try to make him feel that his best is not good enough. This is something we are very careful about, as we do see many children today who are pushed and pushed by their parents to be "better" than everyone else and this does nothing but make a child miserable and/or an over acheiver for the rest of their life...
I do not see the classic "over acheiver" personality with him. He is very conversational and I have no reason to even question whether he is acting out in this way. I know that nerves can play a big part with little kids and upset tummies, but I can't link these unexplained, very infrequent episodes of vomiting to any emotion or uncertainty as my son seems to be 100% his usual happy self.
Thank you though for that post too. Anxiety and Over acheiving are both great thoughts on this matter and I have really considered both, however they just don't seem to be the reason.
Any thoughts on allergies? or anyother thoughts I should consider?
Thanks! :)
You are the classic example of the lost productivity due to BOS. nm

Desperado/L Ronstadt. Not my true fav, but a classic,

In my humble opinion, it is a classic of modern literature. sm
The Stand is about the end of the world as we know it, wherein mankind are drawn to the good and bad forces to make their final stand (thus the name). The bad are drawn to Las Vegas, the good to Boulder, I think. It's been awhile since I read it. They made a TV movie of it but it was ruined by Molly Ringwald. Gary Sinese saved the say, though! At any rate, the book starts out with a virus that been set loose on mankind and goes from there. It is not King's usual fare and you will be missing a wonderful experience it you don't read it!
The Kinesis Classic Keyboard is the softest touch I have used. (nm)
:)
I love the Kinesis Classic-softest touch! (nm)
I work for a hospital that has Cerner Classic Radnet and a service that sm
uses Cerner Millenium Radnet. The two are completely different. The Classic version does EXACTLY what you described with ShortHand but they found a solution at the hospital. I will look at it on Wednesday when I go to work. I'm embarassed to say that I have used it for so long that I don't pay attention anymore and can't remember the name of the program.
Upper case is lower, lower case is upper. Using InstaText. Anyone know how to fix this?
Aargh. It happened all day yesterday. When I brought in text that was all caps
IMPRESSION:
and had lower case on keyboard (as always do), it reverses keyboard commands. This is driving me c-r-a-z-y.
Won't be of much help to your case..
back in the middle 70s.. then got certification in 1987 by AAMT. Been at this for 30 years. Still going strong.. working 2 full time jobs.
In my case, it was because...sm
we live in such a rural area. I call it in the country. A subdivision was built nearby and I know of a couple of people on my road that were requesting DSL too. They put it in on my road shortly after the subdivision was built last year.
Well, in my case....
I work for a local hospital, deal with my boss and QA manager all the time, go in for meetings, and work a set full-time shift just exactly as if I were in-house. No "maverick" status for me. I have to play by the rules. The only difference is that my butt is in the chair at home, as opposed to the office. And I have worked inhouse numerous time, so I know how to do that and had no problem.
what would you do in this case?
I am a Transcriptionist with about 20 years experience who has a job which I do not like anymore, I used to liike the national that I work for but things have changed so much in the last six months that I almost cannot get up and get started and I even work second shift! I am thinking about changing jobs but need to move the first part of December so will need time off and have a bunch of company coming at Christmas so have taken time off. Do you guys think there are any employers out there who would hire someone to start, knowing that they are going to be needing time off in a month? I need to find an employee position because I need health insurance. I am a good worker and very seldom take any time off, this just happens to be a time when I need to.
In that case,
maybe they are afraid he will go to the EEOC - some of that stuff may be illegal age discrimination.
well, in that case, thanks!
Hehe. I've seen that (OP) before and never knew what it meant. But since I was the person who started this post I was too curious not to ask. Thanks for the info--learn something knew everyday! Happy memories to you!!!
looking for a case, are ye?.......nm

In my case...
it was in our court decree that ex would carry me for 6 months. I then had the option to COBRA on, think maybe I had the option of converting to a private policy also, can't remember for sure, but it was too expensive, so I got my own policy. I don't think there was any way in our case, as his company was a smaller one, that they would have carried me as a "non-family" member on the company insurance. I know that you can work it out in the agreement that the ex pays for the COBRA as part of the settlement, which mine wasn't willing to do. I also thinks it depends on who the insurance is through. I had a family member who was involved in a divorce where it was a federal agency health insurance plan, and they had only 1 month to remain on insurance as per that agency's policies. I would be checking out what the exact options are, as you don't want to be blindsided with a lapse in insurance coverage. It's tough. I was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years and just starting out as an MT not making much so kind of scary. Good luck to you!
Definitely not the case...SM
He wasn't in jail over there for anything. That was a misreport. The only previous charges he has are in the US for child porn.
not sure what is going on in your case
The place I used to work had this function disabled but never told me about any feature that I could go back and see jobs listed there for any given date. I was told by this company they didn't have that information. I now work for KS and work on that same platform- Extext. They do not pay for headers or footers but the session statistics is enabled and I can check them at any time. The other company I worked for I could type and type 30 or more reports and the number was always the same 500, 600, 700 lines, ridiculously low. The Ichart website where you had to check was always lagging behind so was impossible to verify how many lines I was getting credited for each report. I type half that many reports now and the number is around 700. I feel like this is more in the normal range. Not sure what the situation is where you are but if it sounds suspicious why give it any more of your time and energy trying to figure it out? There are too many companies out there looking for MTs these days. Keep looking until you are happy and feel like your line count is fair.
So right ---- That is almost ALWAYS the case!
.
In case get job somewhere else, ST is yours.

Of course, you are right in which case IC needs
x
I wish that was the case for me
This week the doctors that I work for saw 221 patients which meant 221 notes. Actually more. One doctor is notorious for waiting days before he dictates and then he dictates 20 notes or more all in one day from previous days, plus some of the ones from that specific day. Arggg. I still have a boat load and I'm off Monday-Wednesday next week.
If that's the case, you are are NOT an IC
As an IC, you set the work hours, not the MTSO. If they are calling you and asking you to leave dinners, conferences, etc., as an IC you say you're not available. If by doing so, they dismiss you, you are an employee and not an IC.
An IC sets their own rate and work hours. The MTSO (or client) either accepts those or not. Period.
I don't think you'd have a case at all.
They'll just find someone else who will do that. They have the right to make agreements on what to pay just the same as you have the right to agree to what you will/won't be paid, too.
Just simply state, "I'm sorry but I bill in this manner" and if it isn't suitable for them, then you need to find different clients.
As unfair as it may seem right now, you have to be careful what you force in business. It is not the emotional energy or financial resources to force anyone to do it your way.

Not in my case...sm
I had the new Office 2007 suite on my Vista laptop and hated it, so I installed my Word 2003 with no problems. Not sure what I did right!
maybe that was a different case, as
my letter states that our objections will be heard, if presented to the addresses given no later than February 12, 2009 to each of three parties. The fairness hearing will be March 26, at 3 p.m. Those that choose to attend in person may do so also.
in that case.
It probably depends on where you live, but here in the Midwest I was offered $55,000 for account manager. That basically was running everything but no travel. I figured I would be working 24/7 since work would be sent offshore. Didn't think it was enough money.
Not in this case. SM
He/she states that there are 6 MTs working for him/her that are all producing this amount, not just one MT. In checking back on this one, the MTs actually work 9-hour days, so it is more like 470 lph, but that still seems high, especially keeping that speed going for 9 hours. I can't imagine keeping that pace for that long! Someone did ask how they were counting lines, but no response yet.
In that case...
I think it may be possible depending on how they are paid per line and what type of accounts they are working on. But then again, with 6 people (I think you said) all consistently doing that many lines per day, it seems unlikely... but who knows!
I don't think so, not in every case. sm
Suppose a friend or co-worker who was morbidly obese came in wearing a new, tight white dress with big red polka dots and a huge bow in back, and she asked you, "Do I look good?"
I don't know about you, but I would reply, "You bet you do! That dress is awesome!"
Not a matter of alienation this time, but a matter of being kind instead of cruel.
in that case..
how about I take all the easy stuff and you take all the garbage.
Oh, hey, just in case...
I just re-read your post below and see you mentioned something about the zip file doesn't open? I'm not sure if you meant adding the files in the zip to Express Scribe won't open the .sri files, or if the actual zip itself doesn't open for you.
Anyway, I did download it to check it out, like I said in the other post, and the zip I found does have 4 files in it -- 2 dll's, an ini, and a readme.txt -- so in case you just got a bad link or something, here's where I found the link for the zip.

ARUBA CASE
The parents had to known she was going to drink in Aruba. Why would these 17 and 18 years want to go of course to drink or they could have went to Florida instead. Even though this girl made bad judgement if she drank to much and went off with these guys this did not have to happen. We need to blame who ever did this. If my 18 year old wanted to go to Aruba I would probably say yes but lecture her a head of time. I know my 18 year probably drinks in college but I told her I don't want to know this. What I do not see I don't have to worry about it. I have no control of her when she is in college but she is not allowed to drink in our house or anyone elses until she is 21. I have a feeling that her body has been thrown in the ocean. The whole situation is so so sad.
I hope that isn't the case; however, if it is SM
then I will move on. I know what I need and whnt.
I'm willing to give them a good try first.
In my case, it was TransTech. I went with them
because they were the only company that I could not find a negative post about on this board. Live and learn.
I rest my case.

OK, I'm sure that isn't true in any case but look at this: SM
You have a business. You need it to run smoothly. You have two choices:
Hire somebody who isn't capable of making it run smoothly.
Hire somebody who is.
These medical records that we churn out (as IC's anyway) -- that's the product we sell. You can sell a superior product or you can sell an inferior product. Who wants to spend their money on an inferior product? Not me.
Who wants to waste their money (time = money) poring over a newbie's work when they can sit down and type it correctly the first time? Why do people think they are "owed" this? I will never understand it.
i have a mild case of it
This is a strange part of the body to get eczema but I had it on the corner of my eyelids & on the creases of my eyes. They gave me Elidel but it would cause my eyes to sting & water severely which would flush all of the medication out. I ended up putting Vaseline on the affected areas to moisturize w/o irritating. That did the trick there. The other spot I get it is on my ring finger (underneath my wedding rings) so I have another prescription lotion for that (Fluocinonide Cream) - that has been very helpful for me thus far.
I generally have really dry skin in the winter. I take a lot of precautions to prevent my dry skin from getting worse and turning into eczema. I use Dove moisturizing soap for sensitive skin, regular soap tends to be problematic. I’ve tried Oil of Olay in the Shower Body Lotion which is pretty good too, but, my favorite moisturizing method is using baby oil after showering. That works wonders & is much more affordable than the pricing lotions! The trick is to use the oil before towel drying to lock in 10x's the moisture.
Also, try visiting some eczema websites, here is one I found to be useful.
I rest my case. nm
