When I managed a company previously EMDAT was the platform and probably still is! In any event, the footpedal plugged into the USB port and had what was called a "dongle" or a spliced extra piece to it that was a method to make it difficult to get into the program. Dictaphone uses an extra piece as well as do other programs out there. Your answer would be yes, it is different and you will need to purchase it. You can get them from HTH Engineering in Florida.
