Did a search on google and saw the ads.
I will make some phone calls today. I don't wear my rings and have no heirs so it seems like the thing to do.

Thank you both for responding.
Try this in your Google search.
Type it exactly as it appears below and you will find that you have hits for Amazon and Tiger Direct on the first page, either 2007 or 2003 version alone.

Might be careful in the future clicking on anything without downloading to desktop first and checking for authenticity as well as virus problems or spam. Good luck!
If you do a google search you can
find some. When I left MQ, Cobra was going to be $900+ for me. I found insurance for less than $200 a month for me and the kids, just used it temporarily until I could qualify for it at my new job. There are some out there.
Found both on a Google Search
The reason I asked this is because the dictator spelled Tisseel, and I have always used Tisseal, and in doing a Google search, both of them are listed and both are used as tissue glue.  Just wondered if there was a difference.
Google search hints...sm

This is an interesting video about techniques for Google searching IF anyone needs help.

I have had problems with buffering on some of these sites (buffering...a few words...buffering ... a few words). I usually wait until it goes to the end and then hit play and it will play all the way through. There may be someone on here that can tell us how to do this part better! Any suggestions welcome!

You may have to copy and paste this...don't know.  Hope this helps some of you. It helped me!

A brief google search reveals several

hits about upgrading from XP Home to Pro by purchasing an upgrade and not a full installation.

I don't see why you would have to reinstall anything after doing an upgrade either.

Google custom search for MTs

Hi y'all,

Came across this customized search engine for MTs. Thought I'd share it with all of you. I've used it and it does work for sure. Search results are more focused and relevant. Definitely better than the general Google search that throws up all kinds of irrelevant results sometimes. Link below.

You can do a google search for list
of dangerous abbreviations.
If you know the county that he was divorced in, do a google search
for that county's public records website. Where I live, I can access the county's public records via web and lookup by last name and first name and these are free searches as they are public records. If he had any prior record of domestic violence, it will show up there.

Something great-- Using Google-- set to use the automatic function of completing the search
For anyone like myself who never used the automatic completion function of Google, IT IS GREAT.

I just started using it, and when I typed in like the first 2 words of something I had never heard before, like say you were typing "sphincter of", then sphincter of Oddi would be one of the choices that Google would automatically bring up.

This is so great! What a time saver. Try it.

Someone with more tech expertise can maybe say how to set the settings so the Google automatic completion comes on. sometimes it would be there and sometimes not, but I downloaded some add-on for Firefox that makes it always there. It was the "Customize Google" add-on for Firefox.

So, if you are using Firefox (Mozilla) browser, go to the add-on page (Google it) and then download the "Customize Google" add-on and then set the settings. I think this was the most useful. There is a way to set it from Google, but it kept not working somehow, the settings would go away.

Other downloads I have used-- other Firefox add-ons that I found helpful: Adblock Plus. Google Toolbar for Firefox (different than Customize Google), and Auto Copy. -- Auto Copy will automatically put whatever you select on a Web sit onto your clipboard, so you can paste it right into the document.

Hope someone finds this all helpful. Thanks for all your gals' help over the years. I have learned a lot and got a lot of tips, and so wanted to post this.

Do google search for Switch Sound File Converter...
and follow instructions - VERY easy!
Blog about it on wordpress.com - it will show up in google/search engines. This really works.
Categorize each post with as many tags as you can type related to medical, any words you can think of that people would search for. Maybe someone with SEO experience can chime in here? :) :) :)
The categories show up as "tags" show up in search engines.

We need to blog-
Information about the issue.
A form letter peoople can print/sign/mail.
Contacts/Snail Mail of government officials where people can send the mail too.

We can also give information who they can contact at their local hosptial to find out if their records are going to India/Asia. Most people don't know to ask for the director of health information or operations manager.

Also ad the url to your blog to google:
http://www.google.com/addurl/

We could also link to one another blog's.

Is there someone willing to post a form letter? We could copy and paste it in our our blogs. My writing skills are not good enough yet. ;)

I'm not a Transcriptionist yet but I know about wordpress categories and google. This works!

do not find the same stats in medical journals...sm

I try to stay with reputable sites that tend to be more objective, or search in the journals such as JAMA.

Here's what the National Institute of Mental Health's site said - put it at 2.9%.

"Stimulant use among U.S. children ages 18 and younger had increased sharply from 0.6 percent in 1987 to 2.7 percent in 1997. By 2002, however, the estimated use was only 2.9 percent, suggesting that the rate of use has leveled off. Use was highest among 6- to 12-year-olds (4.8 percent), and lowest among children under 6 years old (0.3 percent). The low rate among preschoolers was also the most stable, countering fears that preschoolers' use of ADHD medications is escalating"

The reason why older kids have a higher percentage of using medications is by then the parents have chased down all the "natural" remedies and supplements and tried taking out sugar-- and found they don't work in the vast majority of cases.

I'm a "study" freak and read up on whatever journals publish.
...it was "discovered" that men's and women's brains are wired differently in one significant respect in the pons, the "cable" that connects side 1 and side 2 of your brain. In women, the pons is rich with connectors and cables and wiring and communication! In men, the number of connections is SEVERELY reduced from that of women.

The study conclusions were interesting, in that the scientists extrapolated that ONE reason men/women are very different about housekeeping (men=slobs, women= neat) is due to this wiring difference. And yes, there are some males who are neat, and some females who are messy.

Upshot is, a number of things predicate of of this rich connection in the pons for women. It's supposed (not tested yet) that "women's intuition" could be based on this. Whereas men see facial expressions, and snippets of conversation, and situations and body language, they don't think much of it. Because the two halves of a woman's brain connect so richly, her "facts" and her emotions are melded together. She notes all of the above, and puts 2 and 2 together and gets it! A man's 2 halves kinda scratch themselves and go "What?"

Then too, when a woman thinks about a dirty house, it's as if the house is crying out to her, filling the circuits, affecting both halves, 'talking' to her, crying out for help. Not so with a guy. One half of the brain notes the mess, the other half does not respond, it doesn't matter to him, it's dirty, so what. Meanwhile, the woman is being driven half to distraction by the interactions between the two brains, creating a DRIVE to get the thing back in order so the mess stops talking to her.

Do I make any sense? Does anybody else recall this, have access to this data? I've lost all references to it.

But for me, at least, it was fascinating!
A simple google search will give you your answer...I'd give you the answer,
but how would that help you learn to research on your own...and I'm in a rush to get to the next post.
Yep, google has it goin on... I really like the google earth...
Have you tried Google earth? You can type in any address, street, city, state, country, etc. and it will zoom in and show the area and then you can hit the + button and zoom right in and see the exact house, building, etc. that you are looking for.
Mainly Google; I google the known words in the phrase (sm)
That's my most frequent tactic if I don't find the word in my word books. I'll play with leaving certain words out and adding them in, in various combinations, to try to get a hit that has a word which sounds like my blank. If I get a hit, I'll Google WITH that word, and see what hits I get, and what their source is (i.e.,checking the sources out for reliability). When I say 5 sites or searches, I mean I don't often try more than 5 different combinations without a serious hit. If I get a hit, then I will spend a little more time checking that out before I give up.

If it's a drug name, I use RxList, or more frequently the Drugs.com website. Since they redid RxList, I haven't found one that has quite as good a wildcard search, but Drugs.com works okay most of the time.

If it's a place name (like when they give names of outlying outreach clinics and etc.) I'll use Mapquest and look up the city my hospital is in, then "pan out" and look at the outlying towns.

Hope that's what you're looking for. I do have bookmarks, but I find that even the ones I think I'll visit again, I waste more time doing that than with an intelligent google search. An example is the time I was looking for "banana bag." The only place I managed to find it with a degree of reliability was on a nurses' message board. I've found quite a bit sometimes on the various specialty message boards out there, but I think the quickest way to locate that is through a search engine rather than bookmarking each individual site and trying to figure out which ones to search for a particular term.
Thank you, Google God. My google icon is

you mentioned everything you could
think of except the pay.  How IS the pay???
I should have mentioned...
I get paid by the report! ARGH!!!! Its weird how most MT's get paid by the line and hence love long reports while those of us paid by report LOVE short reports! We have this one new doc who never says more than a sentence or two at the most unless its a CT or MRI, in which case he says four or five sentences....love it!
Actually, as mentioned below
I have worked for MQ, twice! Before and after DQS. As I said, it's up to whomever as to how they want to count lines (divisor, footers, headers, numbers, spaces, symbols, etc). It is not DQS - It is DocQmanage, which runs DQS!
Did you see SE or IC mentioned

I didn't.

So if they don't address me I don't pay attention.

And all they addressed in that letter was Full time and Part time employees.

Looks like somebody else mentioned this above. sm
I keep an eye on it when I transcribe since I've changed it in my expander, but haven't yet run into the cc in combination with prostate, but I'm sure it'll happen.
I don't think anybody mentioned
Harrison Ford -- I love his movies.  One of my favorites is Regarding Henry.
It had nothing to do with what you mentioned
and I will NOT post it, it's just too nasty.
to add to what the others have mentioned ... sm
If you charge a gross line, you might consider how many characters/spaces possible you wish your gross line to be made up of. For instance, if your font is New Times Roman 12, your possible characters per line will be less than if it were New Times Roman 10. And if your margins are 1 inch, that's a whole heck of a lot of typing to make up a line in New Times Roman 12. My gross lines are made up of a *possible* 65 spaces/characters per gross line, no matter what font/size they see. If you go this route, gross line and calculate this way, make sure your clients understand how you are charging so you don't have any conflicts.
No I just mentioned RP because
there was a dramatic difference. It made me wonder if there was something better than ES to play dictation with.
yes...but I should have mentioned...

That I do primarily VR.  I just bought an ergonomic keyboard (MIcrosoft) and while I think I would get used to it at some point, I'm not sure it's the best choice for someone who does 95% VR.  So actually I need thoughts on this as I am pretty much hating this new design and am working on my old one.

You can say that again. Sorry I mentioned it.
:
Ok, I should have mentioned.....
it would be working for the SAME company, not two jobs, just my one job, but working here in my own state most of the time and then for 2 weeks every few months or so in another state. I know it wouldn't be my employer's business if I were to get another job at the different company.

I was wondering if I had to let my employer know that I would be working from a different state now and again.
You also mentioned that

you are new to the game, so I thought I might recommend some good quality headset earphones.  I found them yesterday and fell in love with them immediately.  I've had a lot of earphones trying to find just the right fit. Nike Vapor adjustable sport headphones.  might check with www.philips.com  They have 3-way adjustments and the sound quality is magnificent! Can you tell I am sick of bad quality earphones?  :)
have a good experience instead of bad.  Its a long haul if you choose this as a career and you have to take care of yourself.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned here, but
on the other job board, there was a job listed that wanted 10 years experience!!! Good luck with that one...
Have you mentioned to them...
that you would like to visit them more often but it will require them having internet service?  Being the type of work that we do, you have the option to travel anywhere and still work as long as you have a pc/internet service...just as you explained it to us, have you explained it to them in that fashion?  How much will it cost for you to get internet service?  A friend of mines visited me and she had a lap top with an air card and.  she told me that if someone near you has a satelite that you could tap into (not stealing) but somehow you would be able to tap into their service provider and get internet service.  Speak to someone about how the air card works?
Like you mentioned, there are many
variables. I was told by the person who trained me that average is about 3-4 times the length of the dictation. Usually, clinic work is pretty easy, and with the same docs all the time, etc., it could very well take less time. Of course, with poor sound quality or difficult dictators, etc., it could take longer.
That is why I mentioned the supplements...
If you are healthy, from the inside, I think it shows on the outside...

One of my favorite female performing artists is Emmy-Lou Harris:  She is also stunning, for her age.  She is a natural beauty, who when she was quite young was a beauty queen, but I have noticed the last few years she is doing what I see a lot of older women do, just as you mentioned, dressing a little too 'hip', too much makeup.

A lot of her appeal was her no makeup look, long straight hair, and jeans, in my opinion.  With her gray hair now she is even more drop-dead stunning, only I wish she would not dress so 'loudly' - not that she is anywhere NEAR what you are talking about - haha...

Ick - I know exactly what you mean with some of these women...  classic 'change of life' symptoms...

In all fairness, though, the advertising market knows just how to do this to women - and they are merciless with 'telling' women how to look, and changing the style every week so they can make huge mounds of money...

Another 'trend' I see more and more is older women with much younger guys...  Yikes, for me, I am terrified already of losing a man to someone younger, imagine he is in his 30s (his prime), she in her 50-60s (menopause, hair brittle, spots on your body, tired, mood swings, etc etc - no need to go there, smile) and he is surrounded by these 18-20-somethings who are completely aggressive and thrill-seeking (with aspirations of being strippers and prostitutes from how they look)...ya think???  Are these relationships solid?  I imagine a few are based on real emotional/love, but...what a trip!
