I'm not self-absorbed at all
in fact, in this family I am at the bottom of the totem pole, always have been, and it's fine with me. I give my family everything. I don't expect gifts. I expect acknowledgement on the one stupid day a year that "they" set aside for me to get it. I'm sorry if that sounds self-absorbed. I work 7 days a week. I do all the cooking. I do all the laundry. I do all the cleaning. I babysit my grandson 5-6 days a week. I tell my kids I love them everyday. When my son walks up to me and wants to talk, I stop what I'm doing and I talk. My oldest daughter has brought me such heartache for years, has said things to me that you wouldn't believe and that I could never post here, and yet I still scrape the little extra grocery money I have to help her pay the debts she has run up. I don't go out. I don't spend money on myself. I love being a mom and I love my family. What is wrong with expecting a simple "Happy Mother's Day"....without it being followed by "I didn't get you anything but I can get you a card"...when the call comes at 8 o'clock that night...and when that call was basically to let me know I needed to pick up the baby the next morning.

From a very early age, all kids understand deals and contracts. Mom wants something done....kids want things - it becomes a deal. I've had 150% success with this understanding over 25 years. Being a mom may be a selfless situation, but success CAN be gleaned with deals and contracts.

With all the letters behind their names, they should have the sense to know that if they keep the dictaphone running it means "dead air" time for whoever has to listen. It has nothing to do with ESLs. I find just as many native speakers, if not more, think that we should have so sit there while they paper shuffle or otherwise get their s - - - together. If I were getting paid by the hour, or when they used to give bonuses based on minutes of dictation, great! They could paper shuffle all they want...they're paying for their own dead air. But as little as we're already being paid for line per line, I have issue with them taking my time and food off of my children's table.

I have a group of 7 docs and they all do that plus back away, turn their head, speak as fast as they can, etc., so I have to listen over and over to get it. They have to know they are making it difficult. What bothers me most is that I have been doing them for almost 8 years and not once, not once, have any of them acknowledged me! Not a Merry Christmas, have a good day, thank you, nothing! The office manager called me once in 8 years to tell me they appreciated my work.
Doctors are SO inconsiderate
Just need a moment to vent...why are doctors SO inconsiderate??? This one doctor, which I happen to have been working on ALL morning, is so inconsiderate. She mumbles, shuffles papers with the phone in her hand, and generally just cannot be still while she's dictating...and to top that off, she will not dictate in any reasonable order. She never indicates when she's changing from history to physical to assessment to plan....UUUHHH...I am literally  !!!

I had one doc who gave me a bad checs. So, I found another account to make up for his lack of funds, but I picked up his work as usual. I did the last two tapes he gave me, but I didn't give him the work and I returned blank disks to him. His OM hated him, so she called me when she had a deposit and I met her at the bank with the checks and a bill for the new work. She gave me a new check, we took care of business, I got my all my money, and he got his work. I then notified him that I would not do his work for him any longer since he tried to stiff me for several hundred $. Boy was he mad. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

People think they're being funny or cute but making your house look like a piece of crap is rude to the neighbors and DOES make their homes worth less than they should be. I agree that they should be forced by law to change it back.
No I don't think doctors are arrogant and inconsiderate as a whole.
Because they don't dictate the way we like isn't a personal thing against us. Some have skills with dictation that others don't. Like public speaking, some can, some can't. Doctors do have lives and problems and patients outside of trying to dictate patient records.

I had been listening to several breast onco dictations by the same female dictator who kept on yawning that it was so annoying...made me want to post a complaint to a forum of mother MDs (though I was not quite sure where I would post it) which I previously run into...

That made me feel like reaching out to the sleepy doctor who was probably not being paid for that time she takes to dictate about her patients (she apparently let them pile up before dictating) and just let her head rest on my lap (I am a female). Maybe she did not have enough sleep, or not even enough time to enjoy her family...

with the 9 bedroom homes on the beach are the ones needing help. In fact, most homes are not even 9 bedrooms in Florida. Even the real expensive houses are no more than 3-4 bedrooms. Get your facts straight. I am speaking from NOT being on the beach, in Houston. When hurricane Rita came through, we were flat broke after buying water, etc. When we lost power, we lost all of our food other than what we ate during the first few days. Some of us had to work and could not get out 3-4 days in advance. After that, you couldn't get out, and I live in Houston not on the beach!! I would have had to take 2 cars to get everyone out, which we were willing to do. Did you see the freeways. It was taking 24-48 hours for people to make a 4 hour trip! There were animals, kids and adults who died on the freeway trying to get out. If we would have attempted to leave, we would have still been on the freeway when the storm hit. We felt safer in our home. Thank God it shifted East though. You speak out of ignorance, as do most people who are so hateful. It IS the goverment's job to help every American in need. That is our God give right when we pay money into the goverment. The goverment is there to protect their people, and that is part of it. You cannot pick and choose who is worthy! You have no idea what their situation is. As I said before, you speak from ignorance.

Entertained himself by making fun of me and laughing at me when I got upset, doesn't know how to carry on even the simplest conversation, has been telling the same tired jokes for 40 years for lack of anything to say and goes to bed at 2PM because there are people in the house and he can't keep up with a discussion like a normal human being. with my complaints and filed an Employee Complaint form but they say that there are no problems, they are only getting isolated complaints -so EVERYONE who has a complaint needs to call them and follow up with a filed written Employee Complaint.

just my opinion. I hate these calls and mostly never answer until it becomes three or four times a day, then I answer and I am not nice. they usually do not call back after that. It has been relatively quiet around here for a while now...knock on wood. lol
