posts in the past talked about ExText low line counts

Good line counts. Do you do 16,000/pay (sm)
working part-time with MQ? How many lines per day are you doing, and how many hours? Hope you don't mind sharing the information.
Good line counts
The most obvious way to get a good line count is for the MTSO to match up skills of an MT with a specific account and/or doctor. We cross-train our ICs so they can cover another account if their doc is low or another IC is out, but each MT has their primary (or group of primary) dictator.
We also use standardized formats with the headings and even some of the standard exams that some docs use. MPWord is a dream for this.
Another is the amount of time you spend. We have some ICs who work only on one doctor and do not want more than part time and do only 300-500 lines a day. Some do 1000 to 1200 in 8 hours. Others do 1200 to 1500 a day but may work a couple of extra hours. Lots of factors.
Getting good line counts with discharges
Are there any secrets? Normally, I do all operative reports, but recently having to do DS, which I am not accustomed to doing regularly. How do you increase speed, besides utilizing the ShortHand entries.
Sounds good to me! I'll take it. Unless their lines are skewed.

It's easy but about 1/2 good, 1/2 bad as to the line counting. May posts if you

I think it's Dictaphone ExText
Someone on here said that once. Check the archives.
Dictaphone EXText
Anyone out there know Dictaphone EXText? You need two phone lines, this is a dial-up account with a toll-free number. E-Mail me and I can give you all the details. Great paying account.
Thanks!
Dictaphone EXText
I agree 100%. Extremely user friendly. Great system.
Dictaphone ExText
I have worked on Dictaphone and the only way I could get a job back was to ask my team lead to reassign it back to me. The only person who can get all jobs is a QA person, with the job lister, which downloads all of the jobs that have gone to QA or to the client.
ExTExt by dictaphone
Anyone have any experience with ExText platform...how did you like it..and if you know, how does it compare to DocQscribe?
When using Dictaphone ExText do you have
to be connected to the internet the entire time? I googled it and didn't find anything that really detailed how it works. I've been offered a position with a company using this (I tested for them months ago and they had position using C-phone and I wasn't interested and now they have offered this one via e-mail and I haven't talked with them to ask details). I travel quite a bit and I don't want to be tied to a situation where I have to be on-line my entire work time.
Dictaphone EXText
Can someone tell me about Dictaphone EXText. Do you like it?
Dictaphone/Extext
When you have Dictaphone/Extext open, you should also have another window open (maybe in the background) called Transet player. On the transnet player box there is a tab called "more" this will give you the spot to change the speed.
Dictaphone ExText with Smartype?
Do any of you using Dictaphone ExText use Stedman's Smartype as your Expander instead of the expander that comes with ExText? It should work because it uses Word but I am not having any luck.
Which companies are using Dictaphone ExText?
Who is using this platform, and can you tell me if it supports third-party expanders, i.e., Smartype specifically?
Thanks.
I use Dictaphone ExText with ExpressScribe.

I have a question about Dictaphone ExText
I have emailed this question several times to my supe and haven't gotten an answer, so I'm hoping someone here may know.
On Dictaphone ExText how do you go back and re-listen to a dictation after a document has already been submitted to QA?
I can pull up the document and look at it all I want, but I don't know how to get the voice file so I can listen to the dictation. I know there has to be a way to do this because it was suggested that we do this once a document goes through QA so we can see/hear what the error was. I'll keep trying to get an answer from my supe, but I was just wondering if anyone here might know?
TIA!
Dictaphone Extext & Smarttype
Does anyone use Stedmans Smartype in conjunction with Dictaphone Extext/Word Client? If so, how do you disable the cc (shortcuts) in Extext? I am using Word 2000 so I know Smartype works with that but not sure about using in with Extext/Word Client.
Does anyone have a pdf format for dictaphone EXText
I am starting with a new company and need the user manual for Dictaphone ExText and cannot find a download for it anywhere......does any body have one that you would be willing to email to a fellow MT. I would really appreciate that or any links where I can find one.
Dictaphone's ExText, so far. Love it! nm

Any comments? Easy to work with, hard?
Dictaphone Extext manual
I was just wondering if anybody can tell me where to find a manual for Extext? I did a Google search but could not find anything. I do not need the whole manual, but I would like to know some of the shortcuts of using the program.
TIA!
Dictaphone extext transnet
I use dictaphone Extext transnet and yes I had to get a dictaphone foot pedal to work. The company thought any pedal would work but Dictaphone said no it has to be dictaphone pedal.
Good luck!
Dictaphone EXText Speech
Are there any MT companies doing Dictaphone EXText Speech.
Dictaphone EXText Speech
Thanks. Appreciate your reply. I guess not too many companies use this, as I have not received any other replies.
My company uses Dictaphone and ExText and I have..
never had a problem. I use the laptop pretty much all the time. Best Buy has a business computer section that you can order a laptop from. They are much less expensive than the floor models and all the bells and whistles and a lot come with XP, not Vista.
Dictaphone extext question
Can someone please tell me how I get the little box to open that allows me to speed up or slow down the dictation? Sometimes it opens automatically and sometimes it does not. How do I make it open when it does not appear automatically?
It is the ESP Expander with Dictaphone ExText--If you can believe it, it won't allow caps if you
Yes, that's right, Dictaphone's Expander that comes with ExtText won't allow anything that you use as an expansion come into the document capitalized.
So, when you type your abbreviation for ANY WORD you have in ESP, it will NEVER be capitalized, unless like in, say, 1925, you type the Shift key with it.
I hate this profession. I hate all these programs. THey NEVER take into account the MT. Cars following voice instructions? No problem. MP3 player that respond to your voice? No problem. Get Word to do simple things that it should do, like cap after periods, God, too much trouble. Let the "little girls," just deal with all the software problems day after day. Dictaphone--what a laugh. I worked on ExtText FIVE YEARS AGO-- ANd it still has the SAME fricking clumbsy program? Also, you have to do "Shift ?" to find informaion in fields. LIke give me a break. Give us a key to hit, like, I don't know, Search, that't be good. No, make us type Shift ?. Where do these people get off. Do they ever even type on these programs? Or talk to the people who use them.
MT is so antiquated when it comes to programming, it is a big joke. Anyone work for a company that gets the demographics and has fast, easy programming, let me know. TX
dictaphone extext is there a way to sign off a dictation
without having to create a document on the Dictaphone system. A doctor dictated a letter that has no demographics. How can I bypass their system and type in my own document? All answers much appreciated
Instant Text and Dictaphone's ExText
No problem. You can use Instant Text with Dictaphone's ExText and ExSpeech platform.
You can also import any esp file that you have built in Dictaphone's platform and you can use your list in Instant Text.

Dictaphone EXText Word Client question.
I've been working along and all of sudden I noticed my trans status window is gone. It's the little window that shows your downloaded jobs waiting to be transcribed/edited. How do I get the box back without logging out and logging back in? I'm not sure where it went or how I closed it, but I must have inadvertently clicked something.
Thanks!
Dictaphone TransNet - Very easy
Snow Bunny,
TransNet and ExText is very easy and simple to use. It is a Word based platform.
Depending on how your queue is set up, you usually download 5-10 reports at a time. When you finish one and upload it, the other comes in to be transcribed simultaneously. Cable modem is the fastest and easiest and it takes not time at all to download - say 20 reports will download in about 1 minute.
I know those two accounts you mention - I am not sure what you are asking? You can only download the entire day's work if they set your queue up for that, otherwise you will get 5 or 10 at a time and once they upload, another one will download.
Or they can set you up with Administrative priveleges and you can see all the dictations in everybody's queue for the day.
Personally, I would prefer TransNet. You must remember, TransNet is just the communication or should I say voice download software. ExText is the transcription software. If you are only using TransNet, that will only download and upload your voice and you will transcribe your reports separately in Word.
If you are using TransNet and ExText, the entire program, you will download the voice as well as use the transcription platform, Word Based, and it should fill in the headers with patient, MR#, Visit, DOS, etc.
I hope you understand and I didn't confuse you.
Does anyone know if there's a free Dictaphone ExText instruction manual online somewhere? nm
nm
What does this mean? Dictphone Transnet to get voice and Dictaphone Extext to transcribe in. Thanks
Thanks for the help!
How can I install my Dictaphone EXText shorthands in basic word?
Is that possible? If so how do you do it. I know what my ShortHand file is named and where it is saved. I am using basic word a lot and don't want to put everything in under autocorrect by hand. Thanks for your time!
gross-anything on line counts as line, even one word

Part-time work using Extext/word client/dictaphone
Anyone know any companies that are hiring that use this system? I really want to start part-time and then probably commit to full time later. I really want a company that supplies your equipment! Thanks.
Question for mini-laptop users. Are you able to use Dictaphone Extext program
on one of these. I noticed a lot of them do have Windows XP Home Edition but only like Microsoft Works for the word processing. I guess my question is are you able to down Dictaphone or does it have to have a Word processin program in order to download it.
Do you mean a C-phone or their ExText software? Both are easy. nm

7 cpl gross and counts blank lines, IC status-- make a ton of money because it's easy work...nm

They're similar and easy to use, but ExText just functions better. Loved it where

Used it with a small service. Didn't find it as easy as ExText. nm

LIne counts
Per discussion below about 16,000 per pay period, is that one week or two weeks? I am a small MTSO, IC or whatever and have 4 accounts (6 docs) plus I work in a clinic to "get out of the house" after an ugly divorce. I work there 20 to 25 hours plus bring home tapes. (hourly rate) On my IC accounts, though this is per month, I do 32,000 to 34,000 lines per month and put in about 22 hours per week with pick up and delivery, printing, cutting apart chart notes, etc. So if that 16,000 per two weeks, that could be considered part time but if it is one week, she is a whiz if she does that part-time which I consider under 24 hours a week.
Just my 2 cents worth.
line counts
If I work the eight hour shift with the two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute break I usually do 1500-1700 lines per day, depending on the dictators, quality, etc. I rarely do 2000 and it takes 9-10 hours a day with NO problems when I do (and no breaks). Oddly, it seems that when I push myself to do more I have less problems with my hands than when I don't....... go figure !!
Line counts
To all transcriptionists:
I am new to MTStars. I am so glad to see a place where transcriptionists of every kind can blow off steam. I am a well seasoned profession medical transcriptionist and like so many of you, take pride in my work and profession. The rash of recent sweeping changes and concerns in our industry have me very concerne as with all of you. We can no longer afford to sit back and say nothing. For too long the personality profile of the medical transcriptionist was that of a meek, never-talk-back mouse in the corner who did what she was told. After all, and I may be dating myself here, many transcription departments began in the basement of hospitals - you gals remember that? We were stuffed in corners where storage boxes made their homes!!!
For too long this industry has gone largely unregulated and for too long we did not unionize or gather forces to protect ourselves and our profession as other allied health fields have done. Because we are a nonrevenue-producing department in the chain of our healthcare system we are always the first to get cut in budgets. Yet that medical record is most vital to reimbursements and to the patient. We now find ourselves wondering if the powers that be care at all. We are concerned about offshore outsourcing, the shady practices of national transcription companies, and an array of legitimate concerns.
The medical transcription industry is a multi-billion dollar business. You bet competition is stiff. Is it any wonder there are so many scandals right now?
Here's mine concern, for now. LINE COUNTS!!!! WE MUST UNIFY OUR EFFORTS FOR ACCURATE LINE COUNTS THAT REFLECT WHAT A MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST ACTUALLY PRODUCES AND WHAT A MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION COMPANY COUNTS. For too long, way too long, I hear (and have experienced it myself) so many transcriptionists complain and voice their concerns and doubts on what their actual line count may be when they work for a national transcription company. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO CLEAR THIS ISSUE AND BRING IT INTO COMPLIANCE FOR ALL INVOLVED - TRANSCRIPTIONIST, TRANSCRIPTION COMPANY AND CLIENT. We are the only industry I know of that puts blinders on its workers when it comes to piecemeal work. The cable man, the UPS guy, the plumber, salesman - all know up front what the client gets charged, what their cut is, and what the company charges - Hell, even the farmer workers know up front what they get per basket of strawberries they pick!!! - CLEAR, UP FRONT. WHY ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE THE LINE COUNT UTILITY PROGRAM THAT CHARGES THE CLIENT?
If we are losing our work to overseas sweat shops, let's address the sweat shops here in the UNITED STATES making the money. I believe a forum like this is valuable and long over due - we should list companies that are shady and treat their employees with unfair practices. There must be a way to address the line count issue on a national level so that it changes, changes to the benefit of all - the transcriptionist, the transcription company and the client. I say we start by dialogue among ourselves at this site and take it to all transcription companies in a format that engages the dialogue among all concerned. I'm willing to invest some time on this issue of importance to all.
By the way, I don't currently work for a national company - I have been an independent contractor who has just lost 2 hospital accounts to, yeah, you guessed it - INDIA!!! Hospitals CFO's got a boner when they heard this company can do the work for $2.00 an hour.
