Is QA supervisory? What were your qualifications to get into QA that leads to supervision?

Thanks so much. I am definitely a people-oriented person, think my communication skills are good, and I loved when we were able to give more feedback/teaching to transcriptionists when I was a QA person (they later cut out giving feedback to MTs because they wanted us to up our production as QA personnel). I absolutely would NOT miss the keyboard as I often feel chained to it and just bored stiff and burned out. I'm a very organized person so I guess those things would be pluses. Thanks for mentioning the types of college courses to look into as I was thinking of completing my bachelor's degree anyway - I'm halfway there so it wouldn't be too difficult. I thought business administration would be a good major or even health information management (although I thought business would be better as it offers a broader range of opportunity, I would think). The only problem is I almost never see jobs advertised for supervisory/management positions at transcription companies so they might be few and far between. Oh well, at least I know what is entailed. Another poster stated the pay was not any better than transcribing if you are a good producer. Any more feedback on that aspect of things would be much appreciated.
I don't know what supervisory positions consist of. You tell me what a supervisor does so I know

The position i have is supervisory..i am QA/account management.
I was an MT for 10 years prior to taking the position. I plan on going to school for advertisement and/or business management. Still in the thinking process.

Hi, I'm only three weeks from finishing my transcription classes and the majority of the job postings I see require 2+ years in acute experience. What kind of job settings are there for beginning like myself? Thank you!

Definitely go with a hospital at first. You will not make the money working from home without experience. You get paid by how much you type and how fast you can do it. You will be disappointed in your pay. Go with someone who is going to pay you an hourly wage at first. You will need as much experience as you can get.
what qualifications did you have when you first started. do you still do MT?
150-200 e-mails a day? regarding? i have worked for years and have rarely e-mailed a supervisor for anything. what sorts of questions can be ongoing on a daily basis?
i don't want to call HR department until i am sure i qualify so that's why i asked what requirements are necessary to supervise.

You can then look the form over and see how much applies to your situation. You are the one to choose whether or not to ask the IRS to make a determination of your employment status. The service will know once you have filed the form since the IRS will send them one to fill out and will tell them who asked for the determination.

folks taking things wrong, as in above post. I was NOT inferring, in any way, shape, or form, that NORTHERN MTs/people/whatever are smarter, better educated, or MORE WELL-ROUNDED; rather, I was one of the first to respond to this posting, and was just trying to explain that even with hospitals, there is a ladder system, the longer you have been doing MT, the courses/schools, the previous jobs, and most importantly, how many specialities/worktypes you are able to do well, THOSE are the things an employer generally looks at when deciding pay offers. I have lived in the South, and also in the West.....no sarcasm was needed, only assistance was intended. Geesh, getting back to work is refreshing.

I take great pride in my work. No matter whether I feel I am getting paid enough, or treated well enough, I still feel it is my responsibility to produce the best possible results in my position. It is my reputation I am protecting, not theirs.
Is this a lost art? Why do other act like since they work from home they don't have to take it seriously? If you have been put in the position of leading people, guiding them, training them to do the position they were hired to do. THEN DO IT! Don't leave me with more questions than answers! If you agree to take the position of "leader" then don't make me feel is if I am an inconvenience.
No, I will not name the company. I believe this is a good company so I am not trying to bash them. In the last few years I have worked for 3 nationals. Only one had leadership that actually knew what they were training you on and acted like they cared. Unfortunately, their IT department couldn't speak English and I found out they were outsourcing to India, had to leave.
