It's definitely not constipation.
There's a whole list of medications you shouldn't use the tea with, including blood thinners, but I use no other medications. I do use olive leaf which is another herb you cannot take with a blood thinner, but I have not had that response with it. It's only with the green tea. Sure is a mystery to me.
Constipation and a blockage would be my first guess (sm)
Not sure if you're wanting a diagnosis, I'm not a doctor obviously but he can try using a laxative like Miralax or magnesium sulfate if he hasn't had a good big BM in a few days. If he has, then I'd suggest he schedule an appointment with his regualr doctor or a GI doctor asap because it could be diverticulitis (which could lead to ruptured intestine/colon) or a malignancy.
Seriously, if there's a convenient care clinic around, can you get him to go there? If he's having pain, he needs to go to the ER and wait. It could potentially be life threatening!

can be a blessing, by causing us to realize we can't do it on our own, that we NEED God...and again we learn to TRUST and depend upon Him.

"forgive and forget" don't work. Leaves it up to all parties involved to work with the best solution. Gifter may have solid, personal reasons for having issues. I can relate. You have to respect that.

I have been working at home now for 17 years. My kids are 18 and 16 now, the 18 year old in college; however, while growing up both were athletes and in every sport year around. I have seen other kids who never had a parent at their games or special occasions. My kids always appreciated the fact that I was there, never missed a game or event, and always home when they got home from school. That in itself is reward enough.
It brought about a sense of love and security, at least for my two kids, while growing up and knowing Mom is always there. They could call me at lunch or after school before practice if they needed something, etc.
It grounded them and brought stability into their lives and they excel academically.
All-in-all, I would never trade this profession for anything else. It has paid off big time for me.
Now, I just have to wait about 10 years or so for grand kids and the cycle will start all over again!
Isnt' this one of the main reasons, we who have children, work at home?!!!
Those situations different than STAYING in bad
Robbery or scamming are an in and out situation that you have little control over. Staying in a bad job is usually a long term situation that you CAN control. It is hard to change jobs. However, the longer you put off starting the process, the longer you are allowing yourself to stay in a bad situation. It is sad to think you would give someone else such control over your life that you let yourself be abused. And the only one that can change something like that is YOU. The buck stops with you when it comes to who has control of your life.

I'd be looking for another job and if they owe you any money I'd start trying to get it. Send a certified letter, contact labor department, etc.
In true IC situations, the company CANNOT set your hours...
However, your contract can stipulate that you do a certain amount of work within a certain timeframe. They also can ASK you for a general idea of when you will be working, but they cannot make you/tell you that you have to be working certain hours. If they tell you when you have to work, you are not longer an INDEPENDENT contractor - "independent" being the keyword here. If they set the hours, you are an employee.
You seem like a person who can look ahead and do analysis of situations...
you definitely should take the at home job. You will make significantly more money as long as you actually are on the keyboard. I think it's a surprise sometime as to how much time is actually spent transcribing and how much is wandering around. If you time yourself at home, just to take the laundry out of the dryer can add up to 10 minutes in no time. So take that into consideration. You won't get paid for 8 hours - you'll only be paid when your fingers are actually making contact with the keyboard. Check your line production at work if you can to get an idea of how many lines you are actually cranking out in a day.
Now, that being said, you need to take a good long look at what is coming down the pike for MT. In all reality, MT is not going to last until you retire. Don't forget, what is left of MT is going to have to be either a) spread around amongst all of us or b) competed for by all of us. When there are more MT's than MT jobs, you can bet pay and working conditions is going to go down. So right now, while you have a job, you need to be thinking and planning where you are going to be when you lose your MT job and can't find another - or at least another that pays decent...Ask yourself, what would I do if next year I lose my job? and start exploring options that way. Me - I'm enrolled full time in nursing school for a BSN. I wasn't sure I could go back to school at 46, but I am and doing it quite successfully, no less. I still have at least 15 more years to work before retirement...so just plan ahead...

I am coming off a job using Extext and going into one using ChartNet. I have used Smart Type for over a decade and for Chartnet I have to go to Instant Text. I am able to do over 200 lines an hour after about a week at the new job. I will get to 300 again in a month or so. I say again because I have not done that much in a long time.
Extext...I loved it when I first used it, but after 18 months I can't get above 170 lph and that is with echoes and normals with lots of free lines, and that includes dozens of normals and report shells I have made myself. It won't get better and that is poor pay at the 8.5 cpl base rate, but then again I always have bonuses of a couple of kinds and shift differentials...but I can't do better than 1200 lines a day with any consistency, not in 8 hours a day.
I work a job in MedRite. Like Extext, it is a Word client and rather similar. Top rate for MedRite is close to 300 lines an hour on a horrid account with 80% PLUS ESLs. It is just a faster platform.
Enter ChartNet...never used it. Had to switch to Instant Text...never used it. I have been working about 5 days on it and I can do 200 lph and only one doctor so far who throws me for a loop when I can't do that. She is not an ESL, but a slurring motor mouth who skips around and forgets what she is doing on the phone in the first place.
The Extext work has been 90% OP notes, my specialty. The others are all the basic 4, and I have to say that I went from clinic for many years to OP notes, skipping the rest in between. I have very little experience in DS, CN and H&P notes, VERY little time with those. I'd be faster with them if I had done more of them before.
Part of speed is the expander, part is the platform and part is you. It doesn't matter how great you are as a typist and how perfect your expander, if the platform isn't very good you can't make money at any line rate. If the platform is good, but you are not Expander savvy, you won't you make it either. You can, however, be like me and a poor typist with a great expander and a decent platform...and STILL make money. LOL
In MY experience, the largest problem with making more money is the expander GLOSSARY, not which program you choose. I have heard some of the craziest stories about how to use an expander while on this board...ridiculous, wonky, time wasting, counter intuitive toro pu pu!!!! If you are struggling with an expander FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. I am happy to spend my time helping anyone who will genuinely give my methods a shot.

Have my car repoed about 8 years ago and it was the most embarrassing moment of my life. I've since come out of a rut with me working and having a husband who works FT. We are blessed. We have definitely struggled with our bank acct. being overdrawn to the tune of 700.00 before, but we luckily came out of that and it only happened once. And be honest. This is a financial issue and a matter of there is only so much time in one day. They may be shook up for a bit but in the end, they will remember you for the work you produced and your day to day performance and personal character traits. Give them plenty of time to find someone new if you are very fond of them and, in this case, you could offer to train the new person.
Proof positive that an hourly rate would eliminate those types of situations.

A job ad on another board caught my eye. It stated they pay on a 65 character line plus numbers and punctutation. If they are stating they DO pay for numbers and punctuation, would that not mean that some companies are not paying for those items??? OMG, it just gets worse and worse the way MTSO's are finding new ways to screw the workers. Gee, no wonder we were told to not spell out numbers any longer.

While MTs often think it's fine for them to throw out every negative they can think of about a company, they tend to freak to think a company might tell the negatives they experienced about the MT. Why is that? I understand the need for MTs to support each other, it's good for us. Yet surely we arent' so naive as to think every MT is good, skilled, and has a work ethic that should demand the kind of respect they seem to feel entitled to. In my experience, it's not always the company who is at fault, thus I take everything with a grain of salt and make my own judgements.

This is probably similar to what I have heard about, called EMR (electronic medical records). I work for a very large orthopaedic clinic (as my part-time job) and I have been told that they are going to implement this in the next two years, but they expect with all the docs and everything that it will take three to five years to totally run with it. It upsets me because it will eliminate the need for Transcriptionist as well as billers. Apparently this EMR does it all. I'm trying to get my finances in order so that I can go to nursing school because I don't feel secure in the field anymore. I am a single mother and I have over 20 years experience. It's just a shame.

My first husband I met at a work party (I was a paramedic). He was a cop who volunteered part time. My second I met online in a chat room. I can't wait to be out in the field learning medicine everyday. I am learning now in school, but it isn't the same. I am not good about reading the news mostly because of my lack of time. Transcribing would keep me in the loop much better. I think of Oncology, and I think sadness. You are right it would be interesting to see the new technology that prolongs life.

I had to have a license when I had an "office" outside of home with employees, etc., but not now since working at home. Been home for 8 years now without one and my accountant says I don't need one. I know many, many IC's at home none required to have a license. I'm certainly not arguing with you, just think that is strange.

I have always considered myself a pretty good judge of character. For instance, the first time I saw Mr. Mason I said that he had nothing to do with the disappearance of his fiancee, who later came to be known as "The Runaway Bride".
Anyway, I really feel that in the case of Patsy Ramsey she is innocent. (I think too that her battle with ovarian cancer began before the murder took place . . . can't remember for sure.)
Another thing, I see the photos of Van der Sloot and the Kalpos, and I can just see the horns, tails, and pitchforks as though they were part of the picture . . . I'll be surprised if it is found that they had nothing to do with the disappearance of Natalie, but no matter what I feel certain that they are up to no good.

I did go to your link and found out it is KForce. I looked at their jobs and they do have positions for traveling transcriptionists (also for traveling coders). It looks like the MTs are needed in Pittsburgh and somewhere in Oregon. Also looks like the pay is $20/hour.
That would be fun to do.
But don't you think a hospital would send out work to a service rather than have a temp come in to do their work?

I am probably going to get bashed for this, but I have to say it is interesting how this thread has just totally spiraled and how it keeps going around and around with basically how hard this and that job is, and how great this or that job is, and how great this or that education is.
My experience with has been this... When I was a CNA, some of the LPNs at the nursing home would never miss a chance to gloat about how superior they were because they were LPNs and we were "just" CNAs. When I was an LPN at my first hospital job, there were those RNs who could never miss a chance to gloat at how superior they were because we were "just" LPNs. As an LPN I then worked at a medical equipment company and primarily dealt with insurance submissions, the enteral feeding line and incontinence line. At that job, I was viewed as lower on the totem pole by some because I didn't have maybe as glamorous job as someone who did marketing for wheelchairs or something like that. Now that I am doing transcription, I run into the you are "just" a typist.
I have to say that if I waited for everyone in the world to think that my job was important to feel satisfied doing it, well... it could be a long wait. I know that in each job I have had that I am making a difference to someone somewhere by doing my small part, and knowing that I am doing a good job is my own satisfaction in itself.
This whole situation reminds me of that Dr. Seuss book/movie about the star-bellied sneeches... any moms out there know what I am talking about?

I have been setting up one row the way I want and then doing just a Ctrl-C and pasting it into the next row. Once I get a few rows built up, I copy the block of rows and paste a block at a time.
Fortunately I have decided to let this account go so I won't have to do this much longer. Actually I used to drive truck before I did MT work. Believe it or not, I make more money now than I did then. If the wheels aren't turning you make no money, just like you don't if your fingers aren't typing.

I find it interesting to see how everyone reacts to a message like the one posted. Years do not give you a leg up in this business, knowledge and application of it do, however. I have worked in all aspects of this business and I have come to realize that certainly not every MT with years, with a CMT, with an HIM degree or that sort of qualification makes you a good transcriptionist. It is not about time in .. it is about what you know. It is not about the technology per se, it is about how willing are you to be flexible and learn the new stuff and it is very much about showing up to do your without an attitude. It is about not cherrypicking while at work because you respect your colleagues! It is about helping those around you be better at what they do that strengthens your own resolve.
How many companies fail because they cannot find dependable help, knowledgeable help who do not put a hang nail before showing up for work and doing their shift. How many need continuing education to stay current in this business but feel it is an intrusion.
Perhaps Dee was taken out of context .. she has been in business for years and has very good things to say about her MTs. Ever been in a room with MTSOs joking about the people who work for them? Most unsavory, let me tell you!! I am not defending Dee if the quote is what she said, but I might point out too that M-TEC's reputation is a good one amongst MTs primarily and that to me is the best advertisement for a program - how well the grads have done overall. My phone rings and I get stoked about some new atrocity every single day, but I have long come to realize that I can only watch my own back and I have settled down into doing just that and to preserving my very own ability to be employable. I find it works well! I am making good money and I have pulled the knives out of my back and am finally sort of having a life!

This makes me wonder. But anyway, I am not out to impress anyone. If this is what he is feeling, then he will have to get over it. He is very academic and you may have touched on something here. but you must admit that some of the questions asked are very basic. I look at the word board all the time just to see if I can figure out what the poster is asking. For instance, the posts by AJ. If this person had an ENT reference book, it would be very easy to go by what she/he is hearing, look under fracture and they could have come up with zygomatic. Less time than it takes to post and wait for an answer. Same with the other 2 questions AJ asked. Very basic.

Most cardiologists I've typed for over the years have been pretty persnickety about the accuracy or what they dictate; cannot imagine any of them putting up with badly transcribed reports. What kind of doctors must these be, I wonder. Spooky.

So you put your phrases first, and your words second in the phrase side? How do you do this? I am horrible at reading comprehension and have read the book that came with Instant Text a million times but I still get confused on some things. I have been putting things like "anticoagulant therapy" as "anth" on the phrase side as well. Can all of these smaller entries be moved down to the bottom of the list? Any help or suggestions is welcomed.
