The insurance company (sm)

that I chose to apply with (Humana) did not require that I take a physical.  They only required that I disclose all visits, health problems, prescriptions, etc. for the past, if I remember correctly, 10 years.  I believe it depends on which insurance company you apply with.  Some may want a physical and some may only go back 5 years.  Also, depending on what state you are in, I believe some states only allow insurance companies to go back 1 year or several months for disclosure.  The Web site is only a tool to compare several plans through one site.  In order to get immediate quotes, you only have to put in your zip code, gender and DOB of all people on the plan.  You do not have to give your E-mail address or other contact information unless you decide to apply.  Also, you may want to visit AARP's Web site.  I found a lot of good info there.

Fight with the insurance company.

Why would they deny it?  Unless it's an unauthorized procedure via HMO.  Bleah.  I'd also talk with your daughter to see if she has concerns.  Be patient, though.  She'll talk to you if she knows you'll talk with her instead of yelling at her.

I'm fighting a bill for several thousand dollars that has been denied three times now in the past 18 months.  However, I legitimately had dual insurance coverage at the time, so I shouldn't have had to pay anything out of pocket.

You need to contact your insurance company because..
Your provider (oncologist) has a signed contract with your health insurance company and they have to abide by that contract which specifically states that the patient is only to be responsible for copays and/or deductible amount and anything this is not covered the provider as to write off etc. If you have proof of your office visits along with the date that these co-pays were made, then your insurance company could provide you with a good go-between on your behalf. They are representing you as the consumer. Keep us posted.
what big company actually provides you with health insurance? sm
From the ones i have worked for, i had to pay for my own insurance at higher rates than had i taken out my own individual insurance policy. it isn't like it used to be where companies paid all your insurance coverage premium. now it is a huge chunk for us.
I think she is working for a company that provides insurance.
Sounds to me like she can't afford the premium thru her employer -- the place I'm leaving in a few days, for my daughter and myself it cost over $300 a month.  I guess to some that's reasonable but I have had a very hard time with it.  I'd prefer to eat.
It sounds like she's scamming the insurance company
and pocketing the money. I'd inform the chiropractor directly and let him know you're going to tell your insurance company that the charges are not legitimate unless he puts a stop to it. If you inform the insurance company, he's the one who's going to be in hot water. That should end the fraudulent charges. If they don't stop, then follow through and inform the insurance company and let them face the consequences. There's no earthly reason a 9-year-old child should be visiting a chiropractor regularly. The ex is a thief, without a doubt.
Your insurance company's adjuster should be fighting for you.
You're entitled to the cost of repairs to your vehicle, payment of ALL medical bills and out-of-pocket expenses like gasoline for trips to doctor, pain relievers, and lost wages since you've taken time off work due to pain and doctor's appointments. Do not agree to settle until you are certain that you are back to 100%. Gather up all receipts, bills and wage stubs to send copies as demand for payment.
20 yrs-6 months training by insurance company
then everything else OTJ
I'd inform the boss of this and if he refused
to pay, I'd turn him in to the labor board and then I'd quit but just like MT world there will always be someone willing to work for free thus nothing ever changes with making employers do the right thing.
I so appreciate your taking the time to inform me of this.
:) I'd be lost without this forum. :)
For decades, a company benefit has been health insurance
along with retirement plans, paid holidays, PTO, etc. Only in the world of MT (and maybe Wal-Mart) are many companies not paying for these benefits.
Make MTSO inform in writing
If you are sending her e-mails and her only response is yes - then send an email noting bullets on each of the items that are of concern and her response. I found many moons ago - they can always come back and say "I never said that". Have your last line read - If I do not receive a response from you then I will know that what I feel has been your guidance in these issues and noted above, has been accurate. Then be sure to send with read receipt requested - although again many times they ignore that too, but the last line will cover you and the email is your proof. I do not know about anyone else but I keep all communication about an account in one folder as part of the profile, just to be sure.
Collision or comp doesn't matter. I called my insurance company
when I was hit by someone. I only had liability but their adjuster made sure I got the best deal out of it. My rates didn't go up either.
My company doesn't offer health insurance. I'll buy it at Sam's Store.
BTW, you can eat yourself up and waste a lot of time hating and smearing Walmart. People support the store and it is growing in spite of your MT Stars posts. Walmart shoppers don't care about your posts or if Walmart doesn't offer health insurance to their employees. They are looking for a bargain. Walmart has them. At least half the US workers have lost health insurance and as for my company, it costs at least $200 a month for health insurance if I want to BUY it. Get a grip.
Just signed up with Continental General Insurance Company, $388/month for family of 5, $1,000 ded.
We get two office visits per year at $20/visit and preventative care (mammogram, Paps, well-child). Sounds good so far ...

You might check with your phone company......... sm
I live out in the sticks, so cable is not an option for me and I use DSL. My phone company offers a package that includes phone service, DSL and DishTV for a single price. I'm not sure what the price is, but I would think it would be comparable to or maybe even less than the $101 you are paying now.

I know what you mean about having to trim the fat. I've trimmed so far now that I don't know where I can cut any more. I don't have a cell phone. Sons have prepaid cell phones that they pay for themselves. I don't eat out more than once a month and haven't seen the inside of a movie theater in years (no real big loss for me). I skimp like crazy on groceries but that is really hard with 2 teenage boys in the house.

Anyway, I digress. Check out your phone company and see what kind of package they might offer. Ya nevah know!
Check with your local phone company....sm

More and more phone companies are offering fast access DSL which works through your phone line.  Satellite is very expensive and often has problems when there are storms.  I had cable which also goes down practically every time it rains.  I just got Bell South Xtreme DSL.  I can't believe how fast it is.  AND I got a wireless network router so if I have 1 computer or 20... no extra charge.  All this for about $50.00 a month.

Yep, he just got a huge check from the drug company or

I am going to remove the LD from my home phone, and use the business line for all calls, then I will only have to pay about 35 above what I'm paying now. Not ideal, but the best deal I could find.

had a similar issue with TWC and they had done some upgrades and the modem I had was no longer compatible.  The tech knew what the problem was the minute he saw the modem, only it took me about 3 months and threatening to cancel for them to get out here.
No brainer here. Stop payment on first check before you issue 2nd check.

DID you check with Social Security& does your son receive a check???

Go to SSA.gov and research the payee options.  You may have to use the search engine, but your answer to this particular issue should be there.

I am disabled and while my kids were minors, I had to fill out a form each year on how I, as the payee spent each and every penny of the money they received.  I don't see how his mother can justify how she spent his money for things that you normally would pay.

That said, he is getting Social Security right?  Is your son receiving a dependent check?  Under law, if a parent is disabled and has minor children, each and every one of those children also receive a check until they turn 18 or graduate from high school, which ever comes first.

The check is a percentage of your husbands, so for 800.00, your son should receive at least 350.00.  If you have not been getting this, they would pro-rate it back to when your husbands disability started and that in itself, could solve a lot of your financial problems.  You can also find this out on their website,  HTH

no - don't check out wildblue. check out hughesnet. sm
i was on wildblue. i absolutely HATED it. i paid $400 for install and equipment and bill was $51.51 a month for smallest plan. no bills, had to be direct debit from credit card or bank. wasn't a lot faster than dial up and i frequently went over my download limit so i had to upgrade to the $80/mo plan. speed was no faster on their "fastest plan". they had a 1-yr contract and only 1-yr warranty. well 20 days (kid you not) out of warranty my tria (the eye on the dish) went out and it cost me a total of $275 for replacement and tech call (had to wait a week and a half before tech could come and then he no showed and rescheduled for the next day stating he didn't have the equipment he needed to fix me and the repair order had been in for over a week by that time. no call to say he wasn't coming either, just no showed). they TRIED to sell me the entire package all over again to get me locked into another 1-yr contract and i declined. it was best in their book so your warranty and equipment would be "new". i had to tell them for 5 months to change which credit card to debit from, never could get it right. had to tell them for 3 months when my phone number changed. i could not wait until the day my 1-yr contract was over. have heard really good things about hughesnet. i think it is a tad more a month, but supposedly a lot faster than wildblue and not near as many problems from what i have heard from others. wildblue was down for an entire week at one point throughout the year i was on it. always got lost signals and page cannot be found multiple, multiple times throughout the day. i used wildblue with VPN (with transtech) and could not keep a connection enough to get a decent line count as i was dropping signals too much and it did slow it way down. i finally got clinic work rather than acute care where time and speed wasn't a factor. research message boards for complaints about wildblue and hughesnet before deciding. also hughesnet i think told me a 2-yr warranty rather than only the 1-yr with wildblue.

Good of the company? As IC, I am my own company. Not my problem if she has problems as long as I do
:P
Accepted a job with a new company, gave two weeks notice to my old company..

Old company, let me go before two weeks was up.  New company, said they were having trouble getting me set up and my equipment ready, but they would pay me while I waited.  It's been a month, still no check from new company even though I was told it was "in the mail."  I have no income and am at a loss.

I have a signed offer letter from the new company, contracts, etc.  I applied for unemployment, but old company is saying I quit and technically I am currently employed with the new company!  New company is not returning calls or answering email.

What should I do!?!?!?!

I started sending my resume out today, but the process of getting a new job will take at least two weeks and I need money now to catch up on what I'm behind!

You don't want to work for this company. Call your current company and
tell them that you have decided against the new position and tell them that you would like to stay. It is cheaper for them to let you stay than to train someone new. A company who could be so tacky as the one you just spoke of is one you do not want to work for. You can rescind your resignation. If you are a good MT, they will be glad you did.
With my company, ICs use their own emails, employees have company email.

Local radiology company, not transcription company
who has only 5 transcriptionists and are not hiring at this moment. We all work at home and get great benefits, no insurance out of pocket and 22 days paid vacation in the first year, after that it goes up. I feel very fortunate to have found them, but again I chose them because they did not do production, so now that they are, I'm a little disappointed.
Insurance

If you don't have insurance (dental, vision, prescription, chiropractic, and some locations medical) and don't have a lot to spend on insurance, ask me what I signed up for if interested.

There's a lot of information to tell and I don't want to ramble on if no one's interested.

Talk to ya later,
