Definitely a common font size. Ask if increasing the zoom on your end

Sorry. Got cut off. Nothing I do can increase the font size.

Would increasing Zoom help for now?
in Word? nm
It depends on font size, line length, margin size, etc.
There are too many variables.
Format, Font, Choose Font, Style Size & Color
.
Make sure you find out what font and font size
.
Ask what font, font size and margins are
Then you can figure out how many characters would be in a complete line of text. I am not sure if I am explaining this very well. :-( I worked for one place that had a small font size and small margins. So it did not work out for me as each line averaged closer to 70 characters, and there were not many lines that had only one or two words on them because of the set up.
The OP said text not font, but it does increase
all that is on the page, most of which includes the font size.
Like I said, I found this out by accident. Glad it helped you, too. I know I like it.
font size
When paid by cpl, does it affect your line count if you type in a size 10 or size 12 font?
Font size
I have an account and they did not indicate a font size - I know that it makes a big difference the more that you have bolded in a report - what would be a reasonable font size or the standard font size to use?
Font size
I have read with interest the thread on font size. Now I know why one company allows you to transcribe in one font and then it gets printed in another - which is much smaller - which does make it harder to get your lines. I thought that it was me - but could not understand until I saw what was getting printed and counted, as to why it was so difficult to get a good line count when I had always done so in the past. Is this not in some way misrepresentation? You see what looks like a nice report and then when it gets printed it is so small that you can hardly read it - this also messes with the end of your lines and sentences - where if you make a hard page break on what is on your computer screen it comes up as something different on the copied version on the other side. All of the info offered was good and this is a good point to make when looking at work - especially if you are new and do not know anything different.

If you are counting by dividing characters by 65 characters, no matter what font you use it will be the same. However if you count by gross line -- line charge no matter how many words on a line you will lose money. But if it is by by every 65 characgers (including spaces) you could use an 8, 9 or 12 font and the charge will all be the same.
font size
Every place I've ever worked or worked for has a default font. You can have text on your screen set at newspaper headline size (like my MT friend who has macular degeneration) and it'll usually default to their 11- or 12-pt font. I'm sure every hospital or MTSO's software specs are different, though.
font size
I think you just go under view and change the text size to whatever you want it to be.
what is your font size set at??
The zoom feature will not affect the size of the printing font, but the font size will. Make sure it is at least 12.
Font size
When I highlight the text it is in the font size I want, but when I insert the autotext it makes the font smaller.
Font size! I never knew.
What an eye opener. I did not realize this was happening. Thanks for the info to all who submitted to the font thread.
The font is the size of the type, has nothing
to do with the character line count.
Autotext - font size
Hmm, I don't know. Let me play around with it, and I will get back with you. I have never had that problem. When you highlight your text, is it in the font you are wanting, or is it changing from that to a smaller font? Strange.
Brower font size
I'm drawing a blank and cannot remember how to change the size of print within Internet sites. Can anyone help with this? Thanks
HIPAA laws have nothing to do with font size.
Some in your office don't have a clue, evidently.
A summary of the HIPAA law is posted at the HHS website.
http://www.cms.hhs.gov/HIPAAGenInfo/02_TheHIPAALawandMore.asp#TopOfPage
Or you can go to HIPAA.org.
You have to be working in the default font and size of the
document template to keep autotext from changing. IOW, when you open a document and change the font or size before you start typing, you are not working in the default of the template the document is based on.
The font size could stand to be a tad bigger here for us w/old eyes! Thx. nm

Does anyone have to use size 10 font? Does it take you longer to make your lines? nm
s
Do y'all think the size of the font matters in line counts?
If your font is smaller takes more characters to make a line? I just wondered this today.
Gross line was 7, not 8. Depending on font size and margins
7 cpl is about 8.5 cpl.
I have IE set to display text size as largest, yet this font is so tiny I can barely see it.

I've been seeing a lot on this board about fonts and font size affecting line counts and I was...
wondering how this is possible? I mean if your lines are based on a 65 character line then what difference does the font type or size make? I mean, a character is a character whether it's type in Arial, Times New Roman, or Courier.
I use MP Count to count my lines and I decided to do a little test. I typed a document and saved in Arial 10 and 12 font type and size, Times New Roman 10 and 12 font type and size, and Courier 10 and 12 font type and size. And then I ran a line report on each individual document counting lines by 65 characters per line strict (no spaces) and came up with 24 lines each time in each font type and size.
There was an MT below who was saying she types in Arial for her client, but bills them for Courier like it made a difference in the lines. Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't see how it makes any difference at all.
I agree check with your facility. Enlarging the font size can cause problems once a report uploads
I wrote a macro that would take the font size back down to 100% once I was finished and ready to sign off. I think I assigned to something like CNTRL+ALT+F and I got into a habit of doing that before hitting whatever function keys to spell check and sign off. It worked great.
Format, Font, pick the font you want,
click the Default button. It will ask if you want to change...say yes.
zoom up/down
If you work in Word, you can make a shortcut.
I use zup (shortcut)
Command is
{Alt + V} ze 125 {enter}
The 125 can changed in your shortcut to whatever type is good for you.
You can reverse zup to zud or zoom down the same way, and changing the 125 to whatever lower font is good.
I am increasing my pay
I understand the point you're making, but the bottom line is that my pay IS increasing. In most jobs, you don't have that option. I am working more, true, but I CAN increase what I get on my paycheck. And because of production incentives, I actually do make more per line when I type more. Fortunately for me there is enough work at my company (for now) to allow me to do this. If there wasn't, I would get a second job.
SM about zoom
I have a 19-inch screen. I work in Dictaphone EXText. My word document comes up in 100% view. It appears so tiny on my big screen. I make it zoom to 250%. The document then fits my screen perfectly; whereas when it was in 100% view mode, it only covered about 50% of my screen. I am trying to be without a mouse when working (but of course I use a mouse to surf the web), but with work, I am trying to just use all keyboard functions which would be more efficient with VR. The only way to make my view bigger before was by using my stupid mouse and to click on a drop-down menu....now the zoom feature is on my keyboard. Make sense? Love it.
Increasing VR production?
I have been working on this account for 3 weeks now and I am playing the audio as fast as I can understand it, but I still cannot get 2500+ lines a day. I am trying to use all of the eScription's shortcut keys and keep my hand off that mouse too. What else can I do? I need to be making at $100 a day to survive. Any tips would be really really appreciated. Thanks
The problem is they are too big. No increasing needs to be done. I just need to firm them somehow!

The key here is word expanders. I put everything in there. As much as I can. Words, sentences, whole paragraphs. Be creative. The more you have the faster you will go.
Increasing line count - help!
Ok, guys I need your expertise. I started with a new company and now have 11 accounts, each with different formatting/rules and of course MANY doctors. I tried putting some of the common phrases in my expander, but it is not often I get the same doctors again. Needless to say, my line count is low. I'm trying to find a solution other than crying and collapsing every day after my shift. Knowing this situation -- new doctors, a range of different reports/formatting, how do I increase my line count? Has anyone ever gone through this? Please help!
Exercises for increasing speed
I have read a few folks asking about this and thought I would share.
When I was mentoring MTs, I would point them in the direction of a post by Redpen on Mtchat. In that post, she takes folks thru an exercise of firstly writing down all the times/things you are doing during your shift that is not transcribing. Then after you see the time you spend at work but not working, she talks about listening ahead, so you make fewer mistakes (because you have listened ahead and you know if the doctor is going to tell you to scratch that or whatever).

Looking for tips for increasing my productivity on SR.
I fairly new to SR. I've been MT'ing for 16 years. I was wondering if there are any secrets to increasing production. I use Dictaphone SR. Basically, when I get into the report I do a quick read through and correct any formatting that needs to be done, i.e. bold and capitalize headings, put in paragraphs, numbered lists, etc. Then I listen to the report from start to finish, editing as a I go along.
I was just wondering is there a faster way to get through a report. I'm not sure if the Dictaphone SR report quality will improve over time, but right now it requires an extensive amount of editing and correction. Sometimes it would be quicker to type the darn report!
Increasing production in Editscript.
In Escription, I often use my Expander when editing. Because it is Word based, I also use Autocorrect and Autotext and always use macros to handle any client-specific formatting corrections. Because there is no distortion in audio, I keep the speed at the fastest I can comprehend.
And yes, depending on the account, I can double, but not quite triple, my production.
i just read the other day that increasing iron intake

Is there a way to create a macro for adjusting zoom?
In other words, if I want to adjust my zoom from 100% to 125% and then back to 100% before uploading without having to click view, zoom, etc, is there a way to create a shortcut to switch between zoom views? I just can't see well at 100%. I need glasses, obviously, but in the meantime I want to be able to see better without the strain to my eyes. Its just such a hassle to change zoom back and forth for every document, but we cannot upload them with the zoom at anything more or less than 100%.
Increasing Line Count-Shortcuts
ok, i was reading the posts about you gals typing 2000 lines a day. everyone suggested using all the expansions and shortcuts you can. I use autocorrect in word and autotext. Can anyone post some suggestions for expanders? I use some, but I am not getting anywhere near 2000 lines. It could also be because I am in my first year at home. Any more suggestions?

Set up your template to open in the zoom level you want. sm
Then you can record a macro and assign a hot key to change it back when you're finished with the report.
Mentioned below, zoom in over 100% on your toolbar won't change print nm
nm
Open your template dot file and change the zoom... sm
percentage to whatever you want. Then you have to do something in the document area -- such as pressing the spacebar and backspace -- so Word thinks you actually made a change to the template and answer yes to the message when you close it out. Every new document will open with your new zoom level.
Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a Kodak digital with zoom and who has the best prices
on them. I just want a simple to use Kodak easyshare that is reasonably priced with zoom on it.
Microsoft split ergo with volume and zoom controls.
nm
Open the normal.dot file and change your zoom. Hit the space and backspace and close it.
