those benefits, you must maintain the required line count/pay earned per pay period. Otherwise, you shall find you're working for nothing extra.
It also doesn't matter if your place of employ runs out of work, which in turn hinders you from qualifying for those benefits, you lose them regardless.
Ahh, the joys of the Medical Transcription field.

to desposit an unexpected load in my shorts at winning! Holy crap that is awesome for you! I can squeeze the living daylights out of a dollar, and with that kind of cash I'd most definitely put myself down for a sabattacle from the danged keyboard! I'd invest it, just because I've always wanted to do that but never had nuthin' to work with. Lame, I know, but I don't call myself "hayseed" for nuthin'!

anonymous - the thing is when I made the post I didn't say anything negative about anyone and really didn't care if someone read it and knew who I was. I was just curious if anyone else worked on that account and their feedback on it. I really didn't think about it as being a big deal, but I have since learned that there are some people in this world who are a lot more sensitive than me. I have since been told by some posters that MTstars doesn't like you to mention accounts so I won't do that anymore as I am the type to follow rules, but I still can't think of a reason a company would get so bent out of shape about it.

How qualified do you have to be...
...to answer the phone in an indiscernible voice and put someone on hold while you "google" their problem on the company's online trouble-shooting manual, then come back with the right answer to another problem because you didn't understand the question in the first place? This is really about not wanting to pay people an honest wage for an honest day's work, not the lack of qualified applicants.
Maybe over qualified for what they want to pay. sm
I am in the same situation. I also have 25 years experience, all work types, preferrably op reports, and I can't get a response either.
I think the recruiter or whomever is intimidated by our experience and the low line rate they want to pay.
I guess we need to "dummy down" our resume. I don't know. I am not willing to accept 7-8 cpl either. So, maybe it is a blessing in disguise. I am baffled myself!!
Unfortunately it is legal..so yes it is business and they will continue with bad business practices

No I'm not qualified to be a doctor. I only said that it was possible
to do this job without formal training and that I was a nurse before I was an MT and that did help me get my first job as a transcriptionist. I am not knocking an education, I was just stating a fact. 
CMT does not guarantee a qualified MT, maybe
just someone with enough money to play the game and take a test. I personally have worked with and hired MTs with and without the CMT at the end of their name and I really see no difference overall the CMT makes as far as quality of work or fund of knowledge, and there are some with CMTs that make me wonder how they even passed the test. Experience alone is the tell all. I would hire someone with years of experience over someone with only a few with some silly credential behind their name. If you have been in this business for 15+ years, you do not need some credential to prove yourself. Some just need to have somthing to make them feel superior when they actually may not even be that good. Passing a test for CMT looks good on paper, but in my experience does not mean you can actually decipher dictation or produce quality reports in the real world. JMO
No, I am not qualified as Chief of Staff
but I do my job well and I think that is what matters. I took the time to learn what I needed to learn (on-the-job training) and I am very much qualified to work as a medical transcriptionist.

I had a "friend" who wanted me to get his GF a job .... said she was qualified because,
get this... she is a vet tech.
None ... trained OTJ and am quite qualified as has been proven (sm)
by me having no problem finding a MT job when I needed one. Now I work for myself so I'm doing just fine.

About "US qualified MT shortage" and s/m
claiming that MTs won't work nights and weekends, I don't know about you, but at my job, God forbid I have a technical issue that's not between 8 AM and 5 PM. It's the office staff that won't work nights and weekends, not the MTs.

IS the operative word. I blame most of this on MT schools that make big promises and cant possibly deliver in the little amount of time they require for schooling. As Travelin MT said, just by the questions on the Word Board it is obvious that even beginning MTs have not been taught the basics. I don't know what the whole answer is but I do know that these schools that promise to turn out MTs in 4-6 months need to rethink their promises.
Also back when I use to do hiring and testing I would get people I knew were not qualified, did not match the qualifications I listed in the ad but would not take no for an answer. I had a few that I just finally brought in for testing and as suspected they could not even finish the test and the parts they finished were horrible.
There has to be an answer to all of this someplace.

I think MTs deserve to have QA who know their stuff. QA should be more qualified than an average MT
QA specialists are specialists in the field. Of course there are new things learned every day, but a good QA person KNOWS that melena is different than melanotic...it is a given. There are certain things you have to know and that is one of them.
Many companies *think* they can just hire anyone for QA and call them QA and that is why so many ads you see say they pay 3 cents a line, etc.
QA staff should have megayears of experience in MT as well as at least 3 years of experience doing straight QA with the mentoring factor involved also.
All companies owe this to their MTs and if you are getting less, you are not getting what you deserve from your employer.

PHYSICIAN to lead a woman's health program in the US, and he is going to make sure that women are treated the same way he would treat animals or reptiles. After all, didn't he get his kicks as a kid by putting cherry bombs down frogs throats and blowing them up. He has no respect for any female.

I totally respect everyone's opinions. It is easier for others on the outside looking in. That's why I pushed the "post reply" button yesterday. I trust my fellow MTs and I know the more I read from you all, the more confident I am becoming. I just need that final push, not from him though. I also wanted to let you all know that the physical abuse while I was pregnant was documented by my doctor and the hospital. I only wish I had known then that it is a felony to abuse a pregnant woman. I also photographed my face from a couple of weeks ago and told several people in my circle. I had such high hopes for us. Now...not so much. I'm not saying that I won't try to get him to church, but I realize that God can only do so much for someone who isn't listening. j

i dont understand how our jobs can be sent to people that cannot form correct English sentences.
i will NEVER understand this business anymore, and that is why it is time for me to get out of it.
Experience doesn't matter anymore. if they can pay someone as cheap as possible to get the work done, they will do it. And the MT's that accept it hurt the rest of us that deserve more.
im so sick of it! those of you that make good money, count your blessings! A few years ago I was making 50K... now not even CLOSE with the technology and outsourcing...

I disagree, first off, I have a heck of a hard time hiring qualified US MTs
client ready work. Then, when I do hire MTs I constantly run into the problem of how they only want to work part time or can only work 2 hrs on this day, an hour here, or an hour there, or the next problem is consistency. Out of the blue, oops, can't work today, or I lost connection to the Internet yet they're too stupid to go offline instant messenger. One MT owes me money because I was nice enough to help her out (yeah I know my fault) and she screwed me over. Such drama. It's a CONSTANT battle to find good US MTs.

RE: You will not receive a 1099 if
you made less then $600, but the IRS will receive a copy of your earnings regardless. You have to claim all of your income no matter what the amount. Of course, if you made under $600, most likely the tax will be minimal if any.
I receive 2 different CMT incentives.
Two of the companies I work part-time for provide a CMT incentive. One of them pays an extra 1 cent per line and the other, I get 0.005 (half a cent) per line for a CMT incentive. These are on top of my production incentives and quality incentives (at one company).
It does mean extra money and I know what it means to me personally.
Nevermind the naysayers here. They are bitter about quite a long list of things in the MT world.
How about when the acct. mgr. hand-picks easy reports and puts them in the que of less qualified/tal
Then the rest of us are stuck listening to Ho Chi Minh struggling through a neurosurgical op note because we're "more skilled and able to handle it," and end up making about 50 cents an hour. When you think about it, it's easy to get "punished" for not sucking at this job and the rest of us end up pulling the slack for the dead lumber that took a 2-week correspondence course and have to be spoon-fed easy reports for reasons unknown to me.

Information that she can use and information that she may not want to acknowledge but is still true.
It is rare, but not extinct to receive a
reply regarding how you fared on your test. For those of you who are presently going through this situation, I would suggest going back and reading the email you sent requesting the information. Often times online, the inflections in our words are misconstrued. You may be wasting time imaging the worst.
Second solution; just forward a copy of your original email to them; it only takes 10 seconds.
How to receive daily digest?-please help
Many, many months ago I somehow figured out on this site how to receive a daily digest through email each day and I enjoy that. Now I would like to tell a couple MTer's how to receive this Daily Digest as well, but am not able to find the directions on this site again. If anyone could tell me how to sign up for the Daily Digest, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I receive dss files with new version of ES
I just downloaded the newest version of ES, 4.17, a couple of days ago and I receive dss files fine. There was a couple of glitches in the "settings" which I had to change, but now plays fine.
Another possibility: I know when I first downloaded the free ES on my second computer, I could not listen to the files, but it was because I had a different foot pedal on that computer and so I had to go in and make some changes concerning the foot pedal settings in ES.
Are you able to play the files using just the hot keys? If you would like to compare the "settings" which I have on my computer for ES to yours, let me know and I can do that either by email or phone.
How do you receive your dictation from clients
I had used transcriptiongears call in system at one time, but it was too expensive for me. I want to try to pick up another client, but wondered what is the most cost effective method to receive their dictations. Any advice?

it in 2008, it does not matter it was owed, only what you received in the calendar year.
i did receive account stability pretty much with TT sm
did not start at 9; started at 8 and stayed there. supervisors were easily accesible and very friendly. one computer tech not so friendly nor helpful. lots of bonuses when behind on work with TT. i quit due to ESLs and went back to clinic work.

Hi Kim,
According to our records, Marianne sent you a file to resolve the issue. I still did not receive your email with the glossary attachment and I am not sure why it did not come through to my email but Marianne was able to receive it and she replied with the file attachment. Did you still have trouble after receiving Marianne's email? If so, please let us know and we will give you a call so we don't have to worry about having any more lost emails. :-)
welcome, you dont' pay to send out or receive until you go over a certain limit. sm
i use several different email addies with them so that when i run out of room, i change to a different acct to send work/receive work.
