about to become homeless? I think not. You sound like my ungrateful, jealous sister in law who can't stand anyone else to succeed. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. They were unfortunate at the time and we bailed them out! Ask them, they will tell you where they would be had my husband and I not put our credit on the line for them.
My in-laws invite nonfamily members to our holiday get togethers.
The more, the merrier. Besides, most of the other people have nowhere else to go because their families are all out of state or dead. The holiday season is about family AND friends.
As for getting drunk, are they really polishing off several bottles of liquor, or is it just a glass of wine or a beer or two? My family is the type that only drinks on the holidays, but we drink slowly and eat plenty of food so we do not get drunk.
It sounds to me as if you have some issues with your sister. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying your feelings are not valid. I am saying that you need to draw some boundaries and detach yourself from her. Maybe she resents having to host every year. I know I do. We spend way more than everyone else does even though it's supposed to be buffet, parents don't watch their small kids, I spend several days cooking and cleaning with not a thank you in sight.
Start some new traditions of your own. Go to church. Volunteer with people who truly have nothing.
We know of some people who turn every family occasion into a drunken brawl complete with injuries, fights and police intervention. Be thankful your life isn't worse! I sure am.

 Get a voice activated one,keep it in a central spot where he's usually starting his crap. My ex had total amnesia the next day after his drunken rants...one night, he got so vicious, he started spewing how he was going to kill me..a long slow death...my DD had the wisdom to turn the recorder on...he never touched me, but I got us OUT before he could...That tape sealed my case on domestic violence charge AND the subsequent divorce....you could have heard a pin drop in that courtroom. Again, did not touch me "that night" but it was his thought that counted, against him LOL
Dimwit post regarding drunk driver
If nothing else, that should tell you what effects bad decisions have. If you read my post you would have gotten that I suffered but more importantly, my children did. Belive me, I'm not bitter. I am sorry that my children had to live without a father, but I am grateful that they learned about alcohol and loss of control. As for me, I supported my children very well, and we survived as a family and no one had to hang their head. I'm extremely grafteful that no innocent person was killed. And yes, I thought I could change an alcoholic. Bad choice. I'm willing to accept my bad choices, what's YOUR excuse for bad manners and you are also a DIMWit who probably "teaches" her children the right way to drink. What an assine post you put on the board. Anyone who has had a loved one killed by someone else's bad choice probably wouldn't appreciate your post, but I do. I appreciate the fact that you need help.

i live in MA and $1200-$1400 a month is what good health insurance costs, ie $20-$40 copays. it was just passed into law that if you live in MA you have to have medical insurance so without being self-employed, you can go right to BCBS etc and get a plan directly from the major health insurace companies, but for a family plan and a decent income bracket, forget it. the prices are outragous. right now my husband pays $120 a week for family plan and this is after his employer pays 30% of the total cost. we have $20 copays, but we have a $2000 individual deductable per year with a $4000 family deductible cap. so when my daughther needed her tonsils out, $2000 and when my son broke his arm, $2000. someone on this board has to be able to tell you what they pay for insurance through their company as an employee. good luck.

I did say that a proper education IS required, and I stick by that; i.e., my analogy with the attorney/paralegal and nurse/MT, etc.
And she didn't prove me wrong either; she only proved how totally out of touch she is with this profession, and you proved that you like to try to put words in people's mouths! ROAR!

Not if you have a legitimate chemical imbalance and require any or all of these medications to give you a normal life. It's when you don't take them under doctor's orders that you can have problems.

I have the same problem and most recently the office visit for my child to have his ear looked at and that is all was $129.00....new office visit fee. I'm still wondering how any MD can justify such a fee. If they see 4 15-minute appointments in 1 hour, just regular visits, that's $519 an hour. Someone's living good.

but....things happen in a person's life expected or unexpected. She says she works 95% of the time. It should not matter if she works at home as an IC or in-house. Things do happen like it or not. It is a fact of life and should not be penalized for such. Companies should have a backup plan. Computers fail, etc.

Why did I have time yesterday? Because I had no jobs available. Our accounts' work load is down and has been down over the past month or so. You know nothing about me or my job.
I hope you are right about the DSM-V it's about time. How psychologists versus doctors treat psychiatric issues isn't the discussion here. And for a matter of fact, mental retardation is NOT a medical diagnosis. It is an IQ less than a certain number depending on severity. What medical doctor gives an IQ test?
And shame on me for what? For taking a stand against ignorant people including doctors who insist on using derogatory terms?

Well excuuuse me - I "thought" this was a free country. You're obviously one who doesn't care that so much of the work in the US is being shipped to other countries. Perhaps you have all the job security you need, perhaps your husband hasn't been laid off because his place of employment went to Mexico. I need a job that pays a decent wage and a wage that we deserve for the work we do. I have a right to my opinion and a right to voice it - and I fully intend to keep on doing it despite of your lousy attitude !

If you cannot make a living in MT, then it is more than likely you. If you aren't good at this work you won't make any money. You'll just blunder along making minimum wage at best.

Let me tell you something...You shouldn't judge MTs you don't even know, and you certainly don't judge me. Just because you ARE making good money does not give you the right to say those who haven't found a good job yet for whatever reason are not good MTs. How do you know? Have you reviewed my work or anyone else's on this board? I don't think so. You are doing fine because you have a good job with a good company obviously. Everyone is not that lucky. You have nerve let me tell ya! Don't make judgements about people or things you don't know about, and you most definitely do not judge me.

Maybe the employment agreement YOU have signed states all that. Yes I had a contract, stating what the cpl was, and if it states in the contract it will be increased after 3 or 6 months, then it will be, but not if that's not in the contract to begin with.

I am married to a high school teacher in public school who busts his butt for his kids and the kids and his colleagues know it. My husband also knows many dedicated teachers who, along with him, could easily earn 3 times his salary in the private sector. In many other countries, teachers are paid as professionals like doctors, lawyers, etc., because other countries really value education. You can also place some responsibility squarely on the shoulders of many parents who never show up at school for ANYTHING unless there's trouble and they have no choice. Further, it doesn't help that the current administration has cut Pell grants, making it more difficult for people to get the educatin they need to compete in an ever changing world. Yes, our country has misplaced priorities. Unfortunately, many times it's about materialism and keeping up with the Joneses and not doing the things that really matter. Too many people not paying attention to what is going on.

I happen to know several young men that have joined the Armed Services and they have gotten a wonderful education, and yes here lately...I want my son to get an education, but to also feel a sense of pride in serving his country. After all, a law enforcement officer is a public servant, is it not? It's attitudes like yours that make our men and women overseas seem like they're not appreciated or valued. I have the same right to an opinion as anybody else and the right to express them as do you, which I am very much afraid is fast disappearing from this country with our other rights. But having seen some of your other posts, I can't help but wonder if you just always take the adverse view in the name of an argument. But that, also, is your right and I have 2 sons who served their country for you to have it. I do think if I were in HER house, I would go by their home rules, but, she just walked into mine and no, she does not pay for any of our rights we take so for granted. Maybe while we are all here screaming at each other, we will be much too busy to pay attention to anything that may be really important. So I will accept the fact we will agree to disagree and leave it at that.

The times were not always like they are now. I certainly had reports in this small town on people I knew, some very well. I even went so far as to bring up this question and I was told I knew my job and what I needed to do, there was no one else and I was trusted to keep it to myself and I never had an issue with it as long as it was approved. HIPPA was not around back in the dinosaur era, but confidentiality was and it was adhered to. By the way, Hollywood managed to keep a lot more secrets than they do today with all our laws in place.

Excuse me, but VR requires the same
skill as a QA also. It would be exactly like reviewing a report sent to QA as it has to often times be corrected for grammar, punctuation, spelling, words, etc.; just as if an MT had sent it in for a question.
