the zoning dept got wind that I work from home (for 10 years) and they busted me end of Feb 2006 and I had to get an occupational license and now I had to copy the OL and go submit for a COUNTY license for a HOME OFFICE with no traffic whatsoever......
The laws have changed ALL OVER THE PLACE. I'm in South Florida.........just FYI.
Total cost was $275 for both and you have to renew them every September for another $135 for my city and I don't know how much for the county renewal.....Will be taking those payments off my business at the end of this year........2006 taxes.
At one time, nobody needed an occupational license as long as you had NO traffic in and out of your home. Today, they don't care, they want to make $$ (the cities) so they now include the words *home office* in all the paperwork.

Hi JB - where I live no occupational license..sm
is warranted...I have absolutely no traffic to my house and I merely work off of computers - I live in Florida so no occupational license is needed for MT work at home.
You will file for the IRS after a year 1099's which you will have to pay taxes on - approximately 30% of what you earn will have to be paid to the IRS.
No question is a dumb question, the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.
Best of luck. I pounded the pavement 10 years ago and still have a bunch of private MDs along with working weekends for a national.
Standard Occupational Code is 31-9094.
Is this what you are asking for?
