going to be in for a shock when you go to production rates. Most of the in-house positions were farmed out years ago. If you were lucky to secure an in-house position for this long, consider yourself blessed.

Charge him an hourly rate. The current rate is
between $15-21/hr. according to your location. If he had to use an independent secretarial service, he would be charged much more. You can look in the Yellow Pages in your area under Secretarial Service and ask them what they charge, then charge accordingly knowing you can back it up.
Are you setting your own rate?
If so, find out what others in your area are charging. If you think you should be paid more because you're doing pathology, then charge more.
If you're being offered a rate, then do you consider it to be enough? No one else can really answer those questions but you.
That is a low hourly rate. I would look
elsewhere. That is below normal.
hourly rate
What is the going HOURLY rate for a MT (independent contractor) that would be competitive.
I would take the hourly rate.
a
hourly rate
On the east coast the hourly rate it $14 - $20.
Hourly rate
Not sure my last post worked or not. Hourly rates fluctate around the country, however, in South Florida, the average hourly rate is 12 an hour and then each company/hospital then uses their own benefits/production bonus programs.
hourly MT rate
I did 5 months in-house this year after 10 years at home, and was paid $15.00 here in Joplin MO.

What is your hourly rate? nm
-
wow that's a very high rate for hourly isn't it?
I would assume most don't make that with production? I dont know...
The in house job offered for the hospital was about $14.00 an hour. I feel ripped off!
I think your hourly rate pays for whatever they want you to do.
If they want you to answer phones or sweep the floor or transcribe office notes or give shots or any combination of jobs.
They are paying for your time.
If it were me, I would have a separate hourly rate that
I would charge for things such as that, and keep a total of the time you spend doing this, but definitely bill them!!
Calculate your hourly rate for transcribing
and charge them that, i.e., if you normally do 200 lph at 8 cpl, charge them $16.00 an hour.
That's what I would do.
Nothing. Never take line rate for editing. Take hourly only.
You will never make any money by the line editing if you are doing true editing.
What is the going hourly rate (range) for QA these days. (sm)
nm
I would charge an hourly rate in this situation.
Good luck.
Two of my clients pay me an hourly rate, probably do in most part because (sm)
I have longstanding business relationships with both of them, having worked in their office years ago, so they know my work ethic very well.
That's a typical hourly rate for remote
I personally wouldn't drive that far for it.
hourly rate for non-medical transcription
Hi,
You asked about rates...I charge 125.00 per recorded hour of audio and have no problems getting work.
WOW! Great Hourly Rate For Editors - Over $14 to Start!!!!
I just started working for Soft Script in Calif. as an editor for 0.05 per line. I found this was not enough money for me (even though I accepted it to get my foot in the door) and talked to the senior vice-president Joann who gave me a great hourly rate. They must do this for all their editors. Today QA, tomorrow the rest of the company!!!! Can anyone tell me more good things about Soft Script and your experiences???? I am jazzed and enthused to learn more about this comapny and look forward to hearing from you all.
Personally, I wouldn't touch an hourly rate of under 18.00.
I have friend who works as editor, gets hourly rate and does
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Can anyone tell me the average hourly rate or annual salary for sm
in-house hospital employee around Carmel Valley? Hourly range or annual salary.
Thank you so very much for any information!!
I think you would have to charge an hourly rate for this type of work.
I get paid hourly $18.00. The hospital I work at don't believe sm
in production because of the error rate, blanks, etc. just to make money. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy.
They were going pay me an hourly rate, training pay. It doesn't matter, I just tested for two ot
and I did pretty well. I should get a couple of offers in the next couple of days, hopefully -- I don't want to be overly confident because if I learned anything out of all this it is don't count your chickens before they hatch and don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Hospital job is "work-at-home" paid hourly
Thank you for well wishes.
Proof positive that an hourly rate would eliminate those types of situations.
Is $15 an hour a good hourly rate for an in-house office position?
nm
I work four 8 hr shifts, home based for hospital.. hourly plus incentive.

I work for an agency, type for a major hospital - no hourly wage - just production. nm

Working at Home/Getting Paid Hourly
I sent in this info to an MT head hunter:
I am looking for a work-at-home MT position that is employee-based, not independent contractor, paying hourly instead of per line or per page, where I could work Tuesday through Friday, 32 hours a week, no weekends, no nights or holidays.
I was told this was a "TALL ORDER," and that I would never be able to find it. I don't think that I am asking for too much, and that there has to be an MT company out there that is willing to pay highly skilled and experienced MTs what they are worth. I know there are plenty of MTs out there who say, "Oh, if you work hard enough, you can make just as much per line as by hour," but it's been my experience, having worked three MT jobs from home, that that would entail cranking out btetween 1,500-2,000 lines per day...provided there is work available and provided you are getting paid more than 0.12 per line I've been working 12 YEARS as an MT, but most companies still want to pay me between 0.05-0.12 cents per line. FIVE CENTS A LINE FOR AN MT WITH 12 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS. What is wrong with this picture????????
If there is a company willing to pay an experienced MT at least $16+ per hour to work at home, please e-mail me!
Re: Working At Home/Getting Paid Hourly
Perhaps. Don't get me wrong, I like where I work and how much I'm making, and this company acdtually has two MTs working at home; however, they are not offering this option to any other MTs at this time, if ever. The at-home MTs from this company are getting paid per hour and have full benefits, but that's only because they've been working in-house at the company for many years. *Sigh*....
Working at Home/Getting Paid Hourly
Sounds like nice work if ya can get it. :) I wouldn't mind picking up tapes, provided that the pick up/drop-off site wasn't too far.
Working at Home/Getting Paid Hourly
THAT SUCKS. You should be making FAR more than 9 cents a line. UGH. And there are still companies offering experienced MTs 5 cents a line.
Hospital rate
It does not matter. Just need an idea of what the hospitals are paying in-house transcriptionist. Thanks.
working IN A HOSPITAL is different than working at home.
Someone can steal you identity from the internet if they want to. Why would you go to the time and trouble to jeopardize a job that requires some level of skill to steal someone's identity or medical records? You could get a job as a retail clerk and get info easier than going through the testing required to become an MT.
The going rate at the hospital where I worked...
....small city, about 60,000 people, for radiology/diagnostic imaging MTs, the range was roughly $10-$15 per hour. This is in Oklahoma, where the cost of living is VERY low compared to most places.
Usually only if working for a VA Hospital but
it really depends on the company. I don't think many do background checks otherwise. What they look for is schooling and experience and work history.
If you have been working for a hospital and SM
never a national before, to be really blunt and I don't really want to be, but you won't know what hit you. You will be truly stunned at how underhanded big business is. You think you know, but you don't, until it happens to you.
I wish I had something positive to say. If I did, I might say simply to find another line of work. When you go to work for Spheris or any other national company, you are in for a shock.
You don't get paid an hourly rate you get paid by line - sm
so because of how you are paid (not an hourly rate) you don't get OT, especially if you are an IC.
MT working at home for hospital
I just recently was sent home from a local hospital where I work. I make $15.80/hour, no incentive, and we are required to type a minimum of 1200 lines per 8-hour shift.
Anyone CURRENTLY working inhouse in the Atlanta area that can tell me the going rate of pay? SM
I'm really just interested in people who are actually working NOW and what they're making NOW - not speculation from service managers as to what they think they might be making.
I am considering going back in house for the benefits but if there is just absolutely no comparison to what I make now as far as pay, I don't even want to start wasting my time. Thanks to those who can help!!
18 cpl straight from a hospital working at home. nm

IC working for a small rural hospital
I have worked for a small rural hospital as an IC for 9 years, this year I asked for a raise. Hospital thought about going to a national until they found out how much they charged. They contract their transcription themselves.
Question about working on Hospital accounts
I have over 5 years of experience unfortunately it is all clinic experience. Are there any companies that will hire a Transcriptionist with this much experience but not in the Acute Care field? I really would like to start doing those types of transcription. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Now that I'm back working directly for the hospital
nm
Key words: Utah and Hospital. Different from working at home and different SM
from working in a state that has low tolerance for drinking.
Try working inhouse at a local clinic or hospital.
That's what many MTs end up having to do to get their foot in the door & gain experience. IMO, that's the best way to start anyway since you have experienced people nearby to ask for help because those first few months can be very difficult. Good luck!
P.S. Agree with the other posters below that you need to specify you have your certificate in MT, not referring to yourself as a Certified MT which is a completely different thing and can only be obtained after a few years of experience & testing with AHDI. However, that brings up another topic... many MTs choose not to become certified now that AHDI has sold us out & encourages offshoring of our work. I've been doing this nearly 20 years and only once have ever been asked if I had my CMT, so it's pretty much irrelevant anyway. As long as you have experience & test well, that's what they care about.
$15,000.... Hospital employee, telecommuting from home, working less than full-time.

I'm a hospital employee, working local at home, so I get a raise every year.
