If there are MTs losing their homes and can't get presents for their kids, they aren't living

Nursing homes/care facilities aren't all they are cracked up to be (sm)
I have a sibling who just lost their spouse. Every time the spouse was in the nursing home, they became ill to the point of needing hospitalization. Dehydration? They weren't giving the poor thing fluids!!! Kidneys shut down and then they died.
I think I'd rather die before being put into a nursing home and I think I will add that to my advanced directives living will.
No presents for kiddies this year. Hoping for Jan. birthday presents.
sucks, too. its never been this bad.
I struggle to get one up. No kids living at home so
I no longer decorate. There's no fun in it anymore. Anyway, DH always wants a tree that hits the ceiling...we have 12 foot ceilings... and the last tree we put up took up 3/4 of my 16 x 24 living room because it was almost as wide as it was tall. After the holidays, it took him another 1/12 months to get it out of here. It looked quite pathetic by then.
It used to take me 4 weeks to decorate the house, yard, etc., but no more. I kind of like it this way. No pine needles to clean up into July. No arguing on taking the tree down and out. No fighting with others over that one perfect tree at the tree farm.
Our outside lights are up all year and I turn them on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. That's it. DH misses the decorating, but I told him he knows where I keep all the stuff and he can do it if he wants, just don't ask me to put the stuff away. If he wants to decorate he puts it up, he takes it down. Works every year.
Monkey bars aren't the problem. I never once fell off. Neither did my brother. Kids need to climb
c
I think you mean presents like Christmas, but I agree with you also.
Veteran's day has nothing to do with it.
Christmas presents for doctors (m)
Does anyone w/their own clients give presents to their doctors/office staff? I'm looking for some nice, but reasonably priced gifts for physicians. No alcoholic beverages and no food that will spoil (doc leaves on a trip for the holidays so he'd either have to eat fast or it'd spoil while he was gone, LOL). I appreciate any ideas! I don't know this doc super well so I really don't know what his outside interests are like golf, music, etc.
she presents herself overall as not being a bright person....
nm
MSN.com has article today on worst wedding presents ever!

Does anyone send Christmas cookies or presents TO your office, if you are a remote employee? sm
Just wondering if that's a weird thing to do or not.
we did with 2 homes - SM
my only advice is to wait (if you can) until you can take advantage of 10% off or free padding plus 12 months same as cash deal (or if you open a new HD card for the 12 months free financing sometimes you get 10% off your first purchase). Hey, it adds up. Had both berber and plush installed 3 times by HD and they did a super terrific job - measuring, installation AND clean up. They did better than my mom's "professional" carpet business LOL for much, much less $$.
big homes do not mean
that a doctor makes a fortune. People who are wise with their money etc can have large homes too. Doctors do not make a killing doing what they do unless they have their practice plus teaching and research positions. They do make good money - but our problem is not them trying to bilk us out of ours. lets keep to the problem, due to what the doctors or hospitals considering off shoring our work for a bigger profit because of their expenses, we are losing out. Everyone wants to make money, many NEED to make money - does not matter whether you are a regular Joe, a hospital or a doctor - it is the way they have to go about it that sucks. Insurance, malpractice and otherwise, nonpayment of bills, equipment etc causes their complaints of not profiting on the work they do.
If the government would put a stop to the Pharma companies and research blockades etc, a little more normalization would occur. The only other thing is that they eventually will find that off shoring cost more when you add in the cost of editing and poor quality.
But then many big nationals off shore the work so the doctor do not see it.
Check out many of the web sites for all of them. you will find something on most on accepting applicants. And if you don't check out some overseas freelance sites, they advertise there. I will stick to the smaller ones and hope they do not go off shore as well.
Does anyone know if Nursing Homes have MTs? Thanks.
Nursing Homes
I used to work for a clinic consisting of 6 doctors and they dictated their nursing home visits along the rest of their dictation once a week. Good luck:)
Mobile homes are many here in NC, and
they are not a good deal, IMO. Every tornado heads straight for them like they are magnetized, and they seem to burn down a lot. Now I had a townhouse that I lived in for 11 years, and I made quite a nice profit due to the fact they were attractive, had a bit of land and nice landscaping, and were in a good location. I think I paid $85,000, and sold it for $119,000 11 years later. Not bad for a townhouse.
My old country homes
In my home in Iowa, I have Hughes Net and seemed to do okay with it, although, as noted, lag times are a bit more than true broadband/high speed. At my SO's home in Missouri, it comes from some rinky-dink company called Midwest Data Center, although I'm sure they must get their feed from somewhere else. Again, for general surfing there is only a minimal lag time between page loads. However, when working via a VPN, I have had prolonged waits during anything that involves swapping data with the outlying mainframe. This would be cc's, demographics, and final saves on ExText and a couple other proprietary sites I've used. Being production oriented, if you get a lot of short 1-3 minute reports, the wait times really start to add up paycheck-wise. I'll also note that I've had very little trouble with audio files, although, again, a 25 minute report is going to take a bit longer to download than a DSL customer is used to. There have been a few VPNs over the years that I was not able to connect to at all and had to use my standby dialup; however, somehow they for the most part self-corrected in the last six months or so and now I can go pretty much anywhere I want to stick my little VPN. Hope this helps!
This is the only way my husband and I have sold our homes. sm
And it was very easy despite what naysayers may thik or say. My husband is very knowledgable with real estate law, so that helps us a great deal. He has all the forms you need on our computer, etc. He can communicate well with others, etc. He asks for earnest money and he does ask if they have already been pre-approved or if their house if for sale, etc.
Since I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, I can go anytime and show any one of our homes for sale.
You can definitely do it yourself. Don't be afraid and don't let others intimidate you. My parents "lost" 30,000 in real estate fees in Alaska. Basically, they went to an agent who put their house up for sale. The agent never showed up to the open house, my mom had about 15 people come and look that afternoon and she had no idea what to do. One of the guys who attended was an officer in the military who wanted a contract signed THAT DAY. My parents state that the only good thing her real estate guy did was provide an office for the paperwork to be signed. There was a high demand in her neighborhood at the time (about 3 years ago).
Transcription For Funeral Homes
Hi
Does anyone know for sure what type of medical transcription funeral homes would use? I don't think they would be autopsies, but someone told me they utilize this service.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks....Kymee
I had the same problem. Our neighborhood is very close and there are a lot of homes.
I looked up the neighbor's phone number after I saw her name in tax records. I called her and told her I was a neighbor and that her dogs were disturbing the peace. I told her she may not realize it but some people were sick or had small children who were resting at various times of the time and she could not leave her dog barking all day long. I told her we were all talking about calling the police (which I had already done to establish the law and found out you cannot leave a barking dog in your yard in our neighborhood no matter what time it is according to the police) but I decided to phone her instead of bringing the police in at this point because she may not be aware of the dog's disturbing others. She said thank you for calling and the dog has been brought in when it barks to go in. Find out the guidelines from your local police department. A barking dog is disturbing the police no matter what time of the day it is.
I agree. I used to finance mobile homes.
However, they had to be on a permanent foundation with the wheels removed, and the interest rate was scary.
No way. I would run group homes for special needs folks and
x
I actually hope these innocent pets get homes more than I care
x
The prices of homes are high, but the RE taxes are a bit lower.
Welcome to the East Coast! There is really nothing "cheap" on this side of the US.
Good luck - hope you have a smooth transition!
I beg your pardon. I have elderly relatives in nursing homes who are constantly in and out of
hospitals. The elderly especially need our reports to be ACCURATE, as nobody gives a hoot to "talk" about them, let alone doctors getting to actually know and remember patients. EVERYTHING about their acute care in hospitals is taken FROM THE PAPER MEDICAL RECORD, and also when they get bumped back to the nursing home. The caretakers take ALL info from the transfer sheet. Reality check for those who need help most - elderly who cannot rattle off their histories themselves.
rich skanks dress better and have nicer cars and homes.
Do little kids like caramel? My big kids won't even eat it! We make the basic Baker's chocolat
s
I never said you shouldn't have kids! Feeling guilty? I asked WHY you had kids.
You clearly stated in your post that you ship the kids off to camp all day, and they're TIRED AT NIGHT!! You know exactly what you said. You said it as a PERK - AS IN GREAT! They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed! You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT. Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you. Why have kids at all? Just another parent who has them, gets rid of them for day AND night, BRAGS ABOUT IT, and then calls ME wicked! Give me a break! Camp is fine - its WHAT YOU SAID AND YOU KNOW IT. Your own words showed your heart. Period.
Kids are demanding and so is MT work. My question is how CAN you do this with kids, rather than how
When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.
I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.
So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.
Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.
I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.
Stayed "because of the kids?" I say "leave because of the kids"
You're in no position to buy right now. Keep saving, keep paying down your bills, and for heaven's sake get rid of that dead weight of a BF you're living with. You can do better.
So, should I return the $75 (x2 kids) in music cards I got the kids for x-mas...sm
My son has been telling me about free music sites and I was very leary. How do they skirt the law Radguy?
I don't have kids, but my Mom was from the "old school," and still had everyone, kids inclu
call her by her first name. The little neighbor girl next door from the time she could speak called her Aggie (my mom's first name), and they were great buddies until the day my mom pased away.
I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated. Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie. :-)
But, as someone pointed out, to each his own. If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that. I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."
Losing 500 lbs
Thanks for being so blunt. You're right, I haven't been respecting myself by staying in this situation and I only have myself to blame. Every day I feel more and more drained, physically, mentally and emotionally. It is a very unhealthy situation. I was stupid and had those rose-colored glasses on when I made a hasty decision to marry him last year. I don't respect anyone who is content with just lounging around watching TV and the like, does not contribute to the responsibilities of the household or to society at large and sucks taxpayer's money dry by being on bogus disability.
Please do not simply give up, kids or no kids!
Talk with a professional. This can be worked through if he really puts forth the effort and you participate. The right counseling can truly make your marriage even better than it was before, if BOTH parties are willing to be honest. Give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain!
Losing Mind
I guess about now after five weeks, I would be losing my mind too, seeing that the father was let go, even though he told those boys, no body, no crime, and the other two boys are let go. What lawyer father would tell his son no body, no crime and then not wonder what is going on? Of course, he knows what went down. Any law abiding father, when he sees that a girl is missing and his son, who was with her the night before asked about no body, no crime would go to the police. You think Natalees mother is acting like she lost her mind, I would be much worse. I would be protesting in front of the rich kids house, I would be speaking out every chance I got, shame the police into doing their job, which they obviously are not doing too well.
Losing battle, Huh?
By the way, I have never even had my ears pierced, and now I'm too old to care.
Losing hearing
Does anybody else feel that over time their hearing has deteriorated due to the constant noise from wearing headphones?
Might be growth not losing MTs. xx

losing lines
I work for a company, shall remain nameless but has been on this board, and is now, tons. They STEAL our lines and think we are so dumb and do not realize it. Do not even ask where your lines go, line count different from day to day as to what one has typed the previous day, and you will get no response. The money goes to the CEOs. There was an article today that stated CEOs average pay is 350,000 a year, while their employee salary is 28,000. That BITES big time. We slave, they gain. That is where the money goes.
Losing lines
Soon the only jobs that will not be outsourced will be manual labor jobs. We are losing our jobs constantly to cheaper labor. Imagine how much money these CEOs save by sending our work? That is what sickens me to death. My friend's husband is in manual labor and has to work out of time due to lack of work in his own state. This is a sad, sad world we live in.
Are they losing accts? Do
The work has dried up. Again I won't make a full paycheck. Others are saying the same thing. I think you may be right. Especially if you are an employee. But wasn't that their plan from the start?
I can't imagine what this package is they are sending out.
Unless they are going to offer to provide equipment, sufficient work/or a plan to give me lines (like on-call pay) for sitting with nothing to do IN WRITING, and a raise of 5 cents a line, the package will probably go in the round file right here beside me.
That is so sad. I hate to think about losing our pup
He's 4, but he's still our pup. Just a mutt, but he's a sweetie.
Tell your mom that a bunch of Mainers are sorry for her loss.
Losing faith...
Well every year I think things can't be any worse than the last. This year dealing with disturbing financial woes, working too much and a rebellious daughter. How do people some people go through all this and still keep their faith in God and life in general. Sometimes I just want to throw my hands up in the air and just forget it.
Sorry, just got more bad news and here alone working and needed to vent.
losing weight sm
I lost 105.5 pounds total and have kept it off for a year (gained 10 pounds back with this pregnancy, but I am 32 weeks along). I had to follow a more structured plan to actually lose weight. I used the Weight Watchers calculator and books to lose weight, but I did not go to meetings. I went from 235.5 to 130 on a 5 foot 5 frame. I don't follow the program now, but I have learned how to eat. I used to eat because I was bored, tired, etc. Not anymore!
Losing a client
You have my empathy.
This happens with the big companies too. The MT is the last to know that client whose account they have worked on will not renew a contract. I worked 60 days in a row on an account to help catch it up not knowing the Co. was losing the account. I felt betrayed because during that time I could have been trained for something else. I was on a C-phone at the time, and others had already been trained on newer systems. Things really can be quite thoughtless/heartless when regarding the MTs feelings. Makes one feel like just a number. Or as they say a "Human Resource" I that that word..... it sounds like an entity that uses-up, wads-up, and then discards. What ever happened to personnel? Once again, you have my empathy.
MTs losing jobs
I'm sorry to hear about you losing your job. One comment said that MTs are losing jobs all over the place. Could someone tell me more about this ... the loss of MT jobs. I'm new and I'm trying to decide whether to train as an MT or not. Thanks for all your help. I am soooooo undecided.

losing business
Obviously, you have secure accounts. I recently have lost 1/3 of my income due to VR, and I am sitting out in the middle of no where where we cannot get DSL. Wireless may be a possibility, but have been working on this for over a year. So, yes modern technology is great, but when the rest of your income has been limited with no overtime, and you count on that side job, modern technology hurts.
losing MT jobs
Transcription jobs are becoming very slim in Central Minnesota. One hospital outsourced to India, and two hospitals send to a service company. Our hospital may end up going VR which will most likely put half of us out of work too. Either way you look at it, it is a dying profession. Like someone said, you have to work twice as many hours to make enough money to live on - so don't talk about those poor poverty stricken people overseas. Without jobs here, we are going to be all poverty striken as well. How do we make a house payment and pay our taxes so they can send the money to these countries!
Possibly losing my job due to VR...
I was told that the clinic I MT for is considering an expensive VR program. The person that told me works for them too and said that it is about 98% accurate. She also said it might be something I should consider in order for my IC business to grow. Hello? Why would I invest in something I know the medical field would pay for in substitution for hiring an MT? She told me that this VR program costs about $4,000 but she did not know the product make. Is there really a VR product that accurate for that amount of money? If so, then I think it is time for me to get out before I am no longer needed. |
