If the receipient declines to acknowledge receipt but reads the email,
saying that is what happened, so either way, you know the person got and read it.
Yes a SCAM, huge email fraud..they would notify you CERTIFIED MAIL or lawyer would call

Is there a way to get a read receipt back from someone who has web mail?
I seem to only be able to see if someone has actually opened up a mail I have sent with a read receipt attached if they have certain types of e-mail accounts.  Is there a universal way I can do this from my Outlook Express?  Thank you for any input here!
Outlook E-mail
Hi.  If you go to Yahoo and go into the main mail screen there.  You should be able to click on "options."  Next look for POP mail.  Here they should give you step by step instructions on how to set it up.  It has been a while, but this is how I set mine up.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!!!
MQ Outlook Express e-mail
Do you suppose they gave up on that new system??
e-mail and outlook - comcast
You should be able to do exactly what you are saying.  I don't know the exact steps, but you should be able to use outlook as I do this and have atlantic broadband as an ISP.  I don't like using the ISP home page, I prefer Outlook...  it should work.
Cannot send/receive mail in Outlook Express

I am able to connect fine to my dial-up ISP. I have not been able to receive/send any E-mail from Outlook Express today at all. I can receive the mail from that account through my Yahoo web site and am able to go to what is callled Mailstorm, through my ISP, where junk mail is filtered and so everything works fine that way. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I have contacted my ISP via E-mail but have not received a response yet so that makes me wonder if there is not an issue on their end.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

Does anyone know how to put Outlook Express emails over to Outlook so they can be backed up to CD?
nm
Yes, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express are different programs
One of my jobs required me to switch from Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook. It took a little while to get used to, but now I love it. If I keep Outlook open but minimized, new emails pop up on my desktop (you can set how long it stays there) so I know if it is important, like a new voice file, or just spam or something that can wait until later. You can even reply to the email from your desktop without ever opening Outlook. Pretty cool.
I'm using Outlook and Outlook Express and I've realized
that Outlook (my personal email account through comcast) is not pulling email from server. I can't even get to the Comcast homepage to try to get my email that way. However, my Outlook Express is set up just for my work email... different server, different ports. That's working just fine. Comcast has been changing ports in recent months, and I bet they did something that messed everything up. I hate to go to the techs there. They'll want me to change settings, and then I'll have a mess on my end, too.

Grrrrr. I just want my email and want to be able to get to some key websites that I use. Other websites are completely trouble-free, though. I've never seen this happen before.
Probably not much you can do, but at least notify
.
They don't acknowledge that either
I know Mother's Day and Father's Day are "manufactured" holidays, but nonetheless they do hold a bit of importance.  What's wrong with having one day that you take the time to let your mom know she's important to you? I'm not the type that expects jewelry from my husband and breakfast in bed. You know they say it's the thought that counts, and my kids don't think about it at all. They are old enough now. They'll be turning 22 and 19 in a couple of months. I babysit my grandson full time so my daughter can work. My son lives at home and I think we have a good relationship.  But days like yesterday, I realize that neither one of them really gives me much thought. I know it's a fake holiday, but since they both work (my son just got paid on Friday), it wouldn't have taken much for them each to pitch in less than $10 and have gotten me a plant or something...anything. How about just a phone call to say Happy Mother's Day...and not followed by "I didn't get you anything, but I can get you a card"....and not pulling a carnation out of your girlfriend's mother's bouquet to bring home.  Do you see what I mean? It's like leaving a penny for a tip.  I'm really feeling today like I have left so little impression on them, that I really must have been a bad mom because neither one of them really feels much of anything for me.
I ask them to notify me when she is going to take off - sm
and they are pretty good about letting me know. Every now and then they forget though; and she switches her days about on me sometimes. When that happens (they upload at 6pm or so) I just do it the next day and shift things about if necessary. All you can do is ask them to advise you when he is going to be off and hope they do. Also if you are going away, take a laptop and have it set up for work so you can check for work anywhere you happen to be; otherwise you would never go visit friends, relatives, etc.
Notify your boss
Depending on the company you work for, you might get results.  It's very frustrating when you see something that needs changed but are powerless.  When working for Edix, I had a patient that had the exact same condition my son has and there was a new treatment that had saved his life, yet her doctor did not know about it and she was at the point of being near death and only in her 20s.  I emailed my supervisor and asked them to please notify the doctor of the information I sent and they said nope, no way, against the law.  That was nearly 3 years ago and still bothers me wondering how the patient turned out.
I think it is enough if you kids at least acknowledge the day - sm
In our family we really only do cards and when I was younger I did make things for my mom. I was teary all weekend too, but not because my family didn't honor me enough (both girls gave me cards they made, and a book mark the one made at school), my husband got me a very nice card and flowers my older daughter picked out. BUT I was PMSing myself, got it on Sunday, and normally I do not get all emotional, etc. but every now and then I do....I think my problem was it was my 2nd mother's day w/o my mom. Last year I did not have any trouble with it but I think that was because it was still new (only 8 months since her death) and with my younger daughter getting diagnosed with cancer and having surgery and chemo, Mother's day just did not register and I did not miss my mom that much since I had so much to deal with at that time. This year though things are better and I had time to dwell which was not good. You need to dwell less believe me, I made everyone miserable this weekend and am just starting to come out of it now. Be thankful your kids are healthy and can at least call you up and give you good wishes. As for the older kids birthdays, etc. just give them cards and nothing else, it might teach them something.
I am an IC and I work when I want. I notify them when I
can work. They do not tell me when to work.
What to do when STM doesn't acknowledge you?

Any suggestions?  I have sent my STM multiple e-mails regarding various things (suggestions on how to improve things, questions regarding policies and procedures, etc.).  She never answers my e-mails.  How do you approach this?  I have been through this before and eventually ended up quitting my job because my STM treated me like crap after bringing up how I felt, so I am coming here in hopes that someone could give me an idea of how to approach this so I don't p*ss off my STM.

Thanks.

I'm agnostic but I acknowledge that this country was
founded by Christians and that is our culture. If you have a problem with that, there are plenty of other places for you to live.

Yes - I agree - my 2 employers didn't even acknowledge MT week - so this was very nice

Well, notify the academic world, too! Typing classes in middle and high schools
LOL

Request that they place a stop payment on the check, reissue, and mail priority or overnight mail
If they refuse or invent unbelievable excuses, you'll know you have a problem. If MY check was a week late, there are many months I would be in deep trouble.
I realize checks occasionally do get lost in the mail. If they are 100% sure it was mailed, then they shouldn't mind issuing another.

Be firm and be persistent.

In every company I have worked for that pays via mail, they mail the checks on payday. sm
Depending on the distance you can get them anywhere from 3-8 days later. Right now one takes 3 days, the other 3-5.
Return receipt sm

Years ago (many) I would have put the address, either block form to the left or tab to the middle for semi-block form and under the SUBJECT: or RE: line, I would have put Certified Mail No. 112233 or Registered mail # 112233 and then "return receipt requested" on that same line or underneath. If there is no subject, put it before the salutation. Today, I probably would put it under the initials at the bottom of the letter, in block form, just because I would like the appearance of it better, i.e.,

Sincerely yours,

MAM (or the dictator's initials and then yours)

Sent via certified mail #112233 - 3/9/06, return receipt requested.

I don't think it really matters. If you don't have a # yet, just put "Sent via certfied mail 3/9/06, return receipt requested." Don't take my word for it though, unless you don't find any samples, this is just my 2 cents.

Why not use the receipt function in OE?
She would have to acknowledge the receipt of your emails (which I hope are encrypted for HIPAA compliance) and that would send a clear message that she is responsible for keeping the file on her end. I also would state that once I receive payment for work submitted to her, you delete those file (whether or not you actually do), but it will help her see she has to accept responsibility for running her business like a business.

This used to happen to me all the time and that was how I handled it. After the office caught on, I only had to resend files perhaps once every 3-4 months.

I don't like those return receipt reqsts

I don't like those return receipt requests, unless business related, (I have 2 friends who did this a lot in outlook express but one has stopped requesting them per my spewing off about it and the other has not), as when I respond to their email, THAT's the confirmation that I received their email.  If I didn't receive their email or vice versa, usually the system's "mailer daemon" will notify you in any email (keyword is usually).

Though I will say, my daughter sent me an email to yahoo that I NEVER got just a week ago.  Guess that one got lost in cyberspace.  *L*

Get one, save receipt, and if not happy with it,

My mail carrier just informed me that the mail is sorted by
prisoners as part of their work.  Now do you feel safer and more secure?
Block her E-mail, return mail unopened

On AOL I can determine who I want to receive mail from and block those I do not  -- and if they are blocked  they get their E-mail back as being "undeliverable".  If she sends things out -- send back --unaccepted.  But to be simple just E-mail her back or call the recuriter if you don't want to deal with her directly and state -- leave me alone.  If she is in another state you should not be scared of her but you may simply have to put it out there in no uncertain terms.

In addition to your credit card receipt you should

get a printout of your payment and if they don't offer it, ask for it.   Be sure to check right away that they are showing you paid and if you have a receipt your payment was put in the system, which should eliminate this issue in the future.

Billing an insurance company will give the insurance company a good laugh and will probably create further problems.

MANY reasons to request a read receipt -
One of them is that someone claims to not receive your e-mail when everyone else in the world does. I finally figured out the person I was e-mailing was playing games. SO, not everything has to do with being a control freak.
the receipt function is only as good as the person --sm
receiving it. She is not *obligated* to send a receipt back. most people choose not to. they do not HAVE to. and I doubt her email is encrypted for HIPAA compliance.
Me, too. Only if I send receipt do they know it was read. False information.
x
Requesting a read receipt when sending an email is in no way considered being a

"control freak."  Do you also label people who send mail via the U.S. Postal Service as either Certified or Registered "control freaks?"

Some emails that are sent do not warrant a written reply, so receiving a read receipt would
ensure that the information sent has been read/received.
you can use incredimail to get the receipt function, works with most normal emails by popping or how
to send the work to her, that way you have a receipt basically that it is sent and when she picked it up. it is crypted and doesn't take long to send and/or use. it is free download at hypersend.com. the free part does have a limit to how much can be sent a month, but i use several accts and swap when i run out of room. i had a company that didn't go through the MTSO to request resends, they went through me. i finally had to start billing. i billed 0.25 for every resend and it took my time to locate the file they wanted, attach, and resend for free. i didn't mind when it was occasionally, but to us time is money and when it takes away from your production, you should be compensated.
Thwap the husband on the head, buy the keyboard, save the receipt, deduct it from your taxes.

I wouldn't even ask my husband for something like that, any more than he asks me if he can fill up his car with gas so he can get to work! Sheesh! What a prince of a guy you've got there....  You get your keyboard, girl!

You have to set up Outlook to do what you think I don't know what
Some versions of Outlook do not have this feature. Mine does. It is located under advanced mail options, tracking. Please do not assume others don't know what they are talking about unless you wrote the program.
Outlook will can this.
Use the calendar option to record your upcoming appointments, etc. With the folders window open, click on Personal Folders and it will show all your appointments for the week as well as tasks and the number of unread email messages. I believe you can change the default either in options or by just closing Outlook with the Personal Folders view and it will reopen in that view. This works VERY well for me!
I don't know about outlook, but on my ISP

I have filters that I can set so that if I get an e-mail with "Viagra" in the subject line it will automatically be deleted.  Then they started sending e-mails with odd spellings.  I also block senders.  Usually they only send once from a particular e-mail address so you won't get another one from that address, though occasionally you will.

There is a program called MailWasher Pro that is pretty good.  I used it as a trial, don't know if they have a free version.

Job Outlook?
I worked for Focus Infomatics based in Woburn, MA. Started with them after MT school. They were good, but I was getting paychecks for literally $8.00 because there was NO work. I worked on accounts like MD Anderson Cancer Center...and no work. I switched to Medquist last September and now may find myself without a job because everything seems to be going to India. I checked out Spheris today and they have their corporate HQ in Franklin, TN, but they have 3 HQs in India as well. Not sure if the Americans will eventually lose the work. They are hiring from their website ad today, but not sure if I want to be burned for a third time. Good luck!
What a SICK outlook! Why would she need to...

"suck up," as you so graciously put it???  She likes the software.  She said so.  Why would you think you are in a position to judge HER?????

Perhaps you have done some sucking up yourself, so you are thinking EVERYONE is not sincere with a compliment????  Not everyone is as transparent as you are.    Do you feel better when you slam someone when you think they might be exhibiting a trait you possess???  Counseling may help you.

Outlook Express does.
nm
Outlook question. Not sure what
version this is, but it's not express.  When I write a long email, I like it in letter form with paragraphs and double spaced between paragraphs.  However, when I actually send it, it arrives looking, well, "chopped up", not in the paragraphs I inserted.  All the text is there, but it looks wrong.  Anyone know how to fix this?  TIA
