I work on Escription platform and the adapter didnt work for me. I tried it on my laptop though
and the foot pedal would just not play correctly with the adapter. I think others have tried it and done it but it just didnt work for me.

PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

So hooking the 9-pin to a USB adapter will still allow it to work with Escription?
That was my only concern. I knew about adapters but didn't know if the pedal would still be compatible with Escription. I know my USB pedal is not and my employer had to send me a 9-pin pedal.
you can use vonage, but there is an adapter you need to buy to make it work.
Ask at office depot about it.

That's strange I bought the adapter but couldnt get it to work right. Maybe cuz it was a laptop..
I'll have to try it again. I just could not get it to work right. I would get sound but then it would freeze up.
I have a two way adapter that is plugged into the phone line. One goes from the adapter into the
router provided by the DSL company and the other goes from the adapter directly into the phone that I have connected. The phone needs to be connected so I can re-record (which still works for me thankfully). I was wondering if I unplug the phone line and plug that into the back of my computer if that would work but then I would have to have work call before faxing and change the hookup after which would be a royal pain. If you can give me another way to hook this up it would make my life so much easier. Thanks.

She was just on TV blaming these "two criminals" who have been left go because there was NO EVIDENCE to keep them and asking other nations not to take them in. Where in the world does she get off. What EVIDENCE does she have to support her "theory" that these two boys were "criminals" and who died and left her in charge of other nations as to who they should take in to their country. She is implying that the Aruban government is not competent to decide whether or not there is evidence to keep these people in custody. She needs to put her EVIDENCE up front as to why she is making these demands and accusations or sit down and SHUT UP. She is coming very close to libel without information to backup her accusations and I would think she should recognize that. If she is going to shoot off her uninformed mouth, let her do it in her own country.

You do need a FTP program though so you can get your work - sm
forgot about that, but that is not a large expenditure, think I paid $30 for mine though that was about 8 years ago (I do web work to for my old, old job now and then).
Because DOS was much faster program to work in
and was easier to do everything. Windows based operations are much slower.

Technical support person for your company contact you and that person should be able to remote into your PC and fix what the problem is. You shouldn't have to go spend money to get this fixed.
I know that is what my company does and if they can find no remedy then and only then would I take it in for service.

I know someone who worked like this because work was so low whenever he did not work a full week/so many hours, he got unemployment. Sounded great to me so I checked into it but did not qualify...

PRD is a dos-based program, will not work in Word.
It is a great program, wish it would, but you might have to look at something like Shorthand. Same with Stedman's. It is a Windows installation, not a copy/paste like the old dos programs (WP, etc.)
Any program will work if you stick with it and it's NOT what you're doing right now. nm

When you program the foot pedal, you need to program it as 3 foot pedals..one for back, one for play and one for forward.

and it would appear they have transcriptionists, or at least different "editors." There are multiple initials listed, varying from day to day. After viewing the web site, I would definitely balk at the 99% accuracy rate from what I've seen of it in the offices around here.

not big volume. The nationals will laugh at tapes and "set hours". Nationals promise the stars and never follow through.
My advice to you would be to just say "I'll do my best". "I do have other clients" that I need to service (she doesn't need to know your business/you're an IC), and then let it go at that. Let her think she's being boss (easy work) when she's really not. Sometimes, we have to give a little, but the days you are not logged on, if she questions, it just say "oh something came up for another client". I "do have a business to run here". "Oh my the trials and tribulations of having my own clients"! Ya' know, little indicators like "sure glad I'm not an employee" kind of thing; as I have too much going on with "other clients".
I had to do what you're doing. I also had to tell the secretary (not doctor paying my billing statement) that they could look elsewhere (she wanted faxed reports by a certain time each day) or I would have to charge a lot more, or they could make me an employee who telecommutes. It was their choice. Needless to say, I'm not faxing reports; and she has backed off, way off!

3 months though, so that makes me a newbie but they send out a report every morning of how many jobs are on the system and on my account alone there's always plenty of work so I'm not worried about it.
No, I've never gotten an email about no work.
However, you could call or email the account supervisor and ask to train on another account. I find that with the smaller MTSOs, their accounts usually aren't even dictating on major holidays. It's nice to have the time off without having to beg for it like with the nationals.

You want to hear something REALLY stoopid? When I first started working in a children's hospital as a newbie MT, for about six months I transcribed the abbreviation VSD as venereal sexual disease (not ventricular septal defect). When I discovered my error, I went to my boss and confessed, fully expecting to be fired. She was freaked but forgiving, and had a memo issued to the medical director so he could inform the doctors to look out for the error in all the charts they read; it turned out they had already done handwritten correction of most of the errors. That was over 20 years ago but I still wince at how many babies have records of venereal disease because of that error.

Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
I believe they work totally independently, I've
never had anything go from one computer to the other, including Spyware or even a virus.
I just work for mine. MT is the closest I've come to SM

I've had plenty of work, though the numbers on my
account are way down, some accounts not affected at all. Easter was early this year and coincided with spring break in some areas. You'd think that there would be MTs taking days off too and that would balance things out.
