Can having a bad gallbladder make you unable to lose weight? ~sm~
I need to have my gallbladder out. I had an ultrasound that showed that my gallbladder is completely filled with gallstones. The symptoms started about a year ago and it took me a few months before I realized what was going on. When I eat certain foods, I get sick and extremely bloated. There is also constant pain that does not go away for hours. I try to avoid all the foods that I am aware make me ill but it is getting really limited as to what I can eat. I have been eating toast for breakfast and salads for both lunch and dinner. The salads have no meat in them, are basically all vegetables and I use a vinagrette dressing. I thought that I would lose some weight by being forced to eat this way but it is not happening. Does anyone know if having a bad gallbladder causes you to retain water (especially with the bloating) and be unable to lose weight? I am scheduled for surgery the second week of July. I never thought I would be looking forward to having surgery but I am for this.
Oh please, somebody tried to make me feel guilty for leaving a horrible job using this same line.
How much $$ it cost to train ME. Like I should feel sorry for the company who basically misled me every step of the way regarding hiring, training, accounts, etc., etc. The job was a horrible fit, and I stayed way longer out of guilt. Not worth it! Conditions are deplorable enough for the MTs right now - we don't need to now assume responsibility for how much or how little a company spends to train us. PLEASE!!

I find cherrypicking an absolutely deplorable practice. That being said, perhaps it's time we set aside our integrity (believe me, I know how hard it will be to do) and send back reports also. We are penalized for our experience and dedication. You can be sure a cherrypicker's paycheck looks a lot better than ours. I think it's time we whine and cry about bad dictators and send a HUGE message to corporate by refusing to do them.

It depends. The side effects can go either way - weight gain, weight *loss*... sm
Or no weight change at all, but maybe some other unpleasant side effect. Or you might have only mild side effects, or none at all and it's like a miracle cure for you. ;o) Everyone is so different, you never know until you try a med. for yourself.

So far I have chosen not to have my DD
take the Guardasil injections. I have nieces have and they have had no problems. My dd is not sexually active but if I even suspectd that she was I would probably have her take the injecttions. I am not niave. I had veneral warts at one point to I am tested regularly. My big concern is the after effects, things that may come out in the long run. Doctors can usually tell when someone it sexually active to you need to weigh the good and the bad. I wish I had an answer, I am confused myself, but I do choose to wait.

of reducing the uncertainty plaguing you sounds good. As an employee I love the serene simplicity that comes with finishing each report--when I push the button the report goes on its way and that's the end of it. Twice a month money shows up in my bank account.
BTW, I hope your work never bottoms out, but I do find that even with a good employer at least a couple of days a week I need to split and adjust my work hours to the work flow in order to get enough lines done. The key to my serenity there was to accept this situation as normal and enjoy its virtues. I may go to lunch with my daughter-in-law in the middle of the day and then record a favorite TV program in the evening as the works piles up again. It's in control.

I read your posting and I have chosen to
edit. I do both straight and editing but just absolutely hate it now when I have to type report after report on straight. My VR has been a breeze to work with, picks up most dictators excellently, even the hardest ESLs and makes my transcription golden years of 37+ much easier. I chose this career not to be a stay at home mother nor to even work from home as I do now but because I loved the medical field. I love editing and hope I can continue on the same route I have been on for a few years now.

 There are others who are still gaining their own accounts. Sometimes, you have to seek and you shall find. The larger companies and even smaller for that matter are gaining accounts to prove that voice recognition is not the majority. Just because you chose to take less does not mean that everyone in this profession has. So, your opinions are fine for your situation, but to state that everyone's salary and this profession has gone downhill is simply not true. I, for one, have a lot more now than I have ever had in my lifetime, and I have a lot of experience. The in-house position was holding me back. When you get paid per hour instead of production, it seems you get jipped. If you work production and are good at what you do, it is not too bad of a salary. Everyone has a different situation. MTblab is getting out, which is great for her since she is moving into another phase of her life. Of course, she is going to post that it is a horrible profession because she is not happy with what she has been served. Misery LOVES company. You do have a choice in what type of work you take. If not happy, again, seek and you shall find. I am so happy to be  , because I make the rules. Okay, I am off of my  now. Take care.

Are you near Payson, I do recall a couple years back, we were there looking for property and when we got back to SoCal the whole area was on fire, is that a yearly thing there?
I would get an attorney to fire off a ...
letter. I have had to do that several times in the past (not MT related), and it is amazing how quickly things are resolved. It has only cost me $35 to explain the situation to the attorney and have a short letter sent. I think it would be well worth it in your case...$35 vs. $1300.
Also, be sure to send the letter certified, return receipt requested. Even though that is only to obtain proof of delivery, there seems to be something "official" about it...and that can't hurt. 
If you are the supervisor why not fire her? If she
isn't carrying her share of the load and was switched from a different department for the same why is she still there?

That is a RIOT! The one in my ear sounded just like the "Enterprise" going to red alert...and the dude just kept right on dictating but thankfully he pretty much screamed his dictation and successfully overpowered the "bwooop, bwooop, bwooop!" of the alarm.

The most I EVER got was maybe 250 lph, and that was including headers, etc., and a word Expander like PC Shorthand. Course I was always a sluggish typist, never the fastest by any means! Just couldn't do that....I depended on my experience and my word expander.
Be glad I am not your boss. I would fire you in a heartbeat.

She sounds like the type to go off on a tangent and fire you
over her own overcommitments. I'd tell her that you agreed to work M-F whatever hours and that anything else was "extra". You are not being paid "extra" and you don't appreciate the fact that she think's it's your fault she overextended herself. You did not promise to do extra work, you helped her out as a favor. Now she's being ungrateful about it.
Urgh. That's why I never liked working for the small MTSOs. No matter how much you do for them, they never pay you extra, they blame you for everything, they're always overstressed and curt toward people, and they never have anything nice to say. They expect you to be available 24/7 and they forget that they are the ones running the business, not us. It's so easy to blame someone else for your own responsibilities. It's so easy to dump all your garbage dictators and problems on someone else, then blame them for everything that goes wrong. Never an appreciative word or extra pay for overtime, evenings, weekends. Then they wonder why none of us want to work those shifts.
I was so freaked last night. We almost had a house fire
due to Christmas lights. If we had left the lights on all night, we definitely would have had a fire. For some strange reason, one of my kids unplugged the lights. Then he told us there were burn marks on the plug. The plug-ins had melted the power strip, and the carpet was even hot. That would have really sucked. Last year, one of my neighbors down the street lost her home to a fire right before Christmas.

and the kids take advantage, etc. It is for his own good as well as everyone else that he can hear. They make hearing aids so small now, vanity is a big price to pay for not being able to hear. I would think though that the school would have good cause to can him though IF he does not try to work to the best of his ability and if hearing aids help him to work better than he needs to do it, no one is going to make fun of him for wearing them (he's a big boy anyway I'm sure he could take what the kids can dish out), I would think he'd have more trouble from the kids without them. Good luck in making him see sense.

Fraudulent billing, books that are cooked, are not claims that are made frivilously and are not accepted into a court of law without some merit. Watch and see. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it may be a duck. Apply that to everyone who deals with MQ involved in a lawsuit against them, MTs, Shareholders and Clients. Plus the delisting by SEC. Mighty suspicious huh? Not just one person or entity but three different ones - PLUS SEC.

I type fire claims/investigation reports
It's really easy work and pays pretty good. It's also nice to have a break from medical, but some of the reports are really sad to type. I do the work for a local fire chief that has a side business and he investigates a lot of car accidents when the car catches on fire. A lot of times there are fatalities involved, and they usually involve children too. They can get pretty gruesome when they go into detail though. I get paid by the page and most of the time I type depo summaries, which are just highlighted parts of the deposition that I type into a summarized report. I actually put an ad in the local paper for transcription work and got this account. It's only about $400/month, but I do MT part time too.
Oh yeah baby, just 12 more hits and I get FLAMED! Come on' give me FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nm

with this economy it is harder and harder to work your way out of poverty no matter what the reason for being there is.

He has vinyl siding and installed the outside pipes himself. Apparently he is in over his head. Last year, his siding started on fire and he burnt up his electrical wiring. I am hating this cold weather. I am turning 36 soon and I feel like I am just packing on the pounds and I haven't changed my routine one bit? I know your metabolism slows as you age, but geez, I am beginning to think it is my profession! I exercise and watch what I eat, even more so now and still the scale won't budge, it will go up if anything. I guess I am asking for some advice or tips on what other Transcriptionist do to maintain thier girlish or boyish figure. 
Leaving MQ
A friend of mine left MQ and went back into a hospital setting. She went from barely making 1200 lines a day to over 2000 a day (8 hours). She also went from statuatory with no benefits to all the perks of being in-house including insurance, vacation, 401K, paid holidays, etc. She was also offered after training the opportunity to work from her home which she took. She is so happy.
