It takes a couple of weeks to get the hang of it and start improving speed. I did it while going to MT school, so there was not too much worry about being fast at first. (I am an old dog and didn't know if I could change, but it was not so hard.) It would be much harder if you had to get in a certain number of lines a day. I am sure it is saving my hands somewhat from overuse, but I'd better stay at this job since I can't type on anyone elses computer unless I go in to settings and change the keyboard 'language' to Dvorak!
My friend, who encouraged me to go Dvorak, ended up recently taking a couple weeks out of her life to go back to Querty since she wants to take the CMT test, and I guess you cannot take the test using Dvorak! Isn't that insane!!?
