Read between the lines. When a company starts saying work more to make more
and you have to work in assembly-line fashion like an automaton, they are having a cash crunch. They held out one salary to you to get you to do the job, then they turn around and cut your pay because you make too much. They don't sound financially stable. If you've only been on the job 2 months, start looking elsewhere for a more financially stable company. Send out your resume and see what other companies have to offer and check out references for those companies. I and a friend in the past have gone part-time with a new company before resigning from the old one in order to make sure the new company is going to be compatible with us. It's hard to do, but it's short-term for only 1 or 2 weeks.
large company.
My IC pays 4/10 for an eScription account.
Ask him next time to start a new file and not make it so large.
There have been a lot of MTs leaving a large company the last few weeks. sm
It might be a little more difficult than usual, but there's always a shortage of qualified people. Check your resume, make sure it is selling your best points. Are you using your current place as a reference? Could that be a problem? Are you testing with companies, or do you not get that far? Have any of them offered you a reason for not being interested?
I'm not sure if they can if it's open enrollment with a large company. I think if it were an i
your application. They only thing I think they can do is possibly impose a pre-existing clause if he has not had continuous medical coverage. If he has, then you'll probably be fine. If not, they can do up to 12 months pre-existing where they will not cover anything pre-existing. I'd check with Human Resources on this though.
My company sent me a large tower computer to
I appreciate the computer, but the tower is huge! My desk doesn't have any place for a tower (it's not a computer desk and I can't afford to buy one). What's a good way to place the tower so that all the wires will fit (other than on top of the desk?).
They make darn good money at most large grocery stores
No, I don't tip them. If I thought they weren't getting paid hourly, then I might. I might tip someone who gave extra great service, like coming home and carrying them in the house for me, (j/k!) but most places where you are expected to tip, people just expect the tip and take it for granted anymore and don't always treat you well enough to deserve one!
How can you feel loyalty to a company that so clearly has no regard for a large portion of its MTs.
;O
I work for a service, a rather large one sm
They probably, or possibly, keep the records for awhile, in Echart. But as an IC, I would think that legally, you would be limited to the amount of time you are allowed to keep patients medical records, and I would bet it would be around 30 days, not more.
My work space is in the MBR- it is plenty large -sm
but the room is a bit cluttered. It is a large room though, 12' x 27', 1 corner is a small walk-in closet though (5 x 9), I am against that 5' wall of the closet for my "space". If I could lose the radio (old 1940s) and the corner shelf unit it would look a lot nicer even with my desk and TV cart I use for my printer and misc. papers. The one "spare" room we have is the dining room which is the kids play room but I am getting rid of that this Fall, however it will basically turn into storage on one side for my DHs antique TVs and the other I might make a reading nook, for the rare spare time I get to have a haven to go to outside of the bedroom. I have the recliner, just need a place to put it!
And it's rough work dangit. First job, large hospital,
drives me nuts sometimes. Sorry, just felt like throwing that out there! ;)
Oh, bull. I'm with a large national and those clients whose work is offshored
That one statement is bunk.
You don't want to work for this company. Call your current company and
tell them that you have decided against the new position and tell them that you would like to stay. It is cheaper for them to let you stay than to train someone new. A company who could be so tacky as the one you just spoke of is one you do not want to work for. You can rescind your resignation. If you are a good MT, they will be glad you did.
Yes, unfortunately you do have to make a pest of yourself to make it work, but.....
as the years went by that is why I stayed away from those type of companies. BTW, Noni is a fabulous product, I absolutely do not care for the "marketing techniques" they use. One of the facts of this type of industry is you cannot just recruit to make it, you have to retail. Ever since I "overhauled" my techniques and system...I never had to ask another person to some on board again. Well, nuf for now. Take care and have a blessed week!!
I would make sure you ask what company they are with!

All I know is it caused the company I work for to be unable to do all work due today and the rest

Not necessarily - I make 12 cpl for a company. nm

i used to work for a company that divided the work types up and i loved it. sm
there were only 4 of us working a major teaching hospital. someone was assigned surgery, different assigned discharges, different admits, etc. we all had the backup work type in case the original assignee wasn't available and were cross trained. it made us much more efficient, ability to get used to dictators, set macros, and in the long run we were all much happier.
The company I work for said cable phone wouldn't work, just FYI.
nm
I make more than that as an employee for a small company ---
Maybe it is time to change to that?
Wouldn't it make more sense for the company
to hire someone for that shift, and that person could be a "stat" person in addition to typing a regular account? Nah, I guess that would be just too simple!
I make 0.725 cents per line after 5 years with the same company - nm

What about benefits? I make 50k a year working for a company
out of my home full time. No gas money, no traveling, no printing, faxing, and I get full benefits. How is making 50000 as an MTSO good money? I really just don't get it!
I don't work for MQ but that happened to me once at the company where I work and
my next two paychecks were shorted out of what they had overpaid me for that pay period. I hope they don't take it out of your hide. It was hard to budget for that month!
Company I work for has to pay fines for work out of TAT.

I work as an IC, work when I want, but I still let the company know if I am going to be unavailable
for any length of time, even though I don't have to.
In the beginning ........... there were NO
nationals ..........
I was beginning to think it was just me...sm
I see these kinds of questions so often. I was beginning to think everybody worries about this junk.
I don't see any of that in the beginning.
I thought, from your post, that you were an IC who failed to understand basic economics.
In the beginning there were a lot of
bugs with Vista. Also, if what the MTSO has is compatible with their clients, why upgrade and possibly loose clients???
I make that much and work...
for a hospital, from home. My colleagues at the other hospitals in this area also make in that range as well.
I'm beginning to wonder if that's all there is left is
crap dictation. Most of us say we're doing the crappy dictation and ESLs. So the good stuff is really going overseas or to VR? Or are there people here who get the good stuff all the time, which is why they make good money and we don't?
As I stated right at the beginning....
If it were ME, I would be blaming myself. Each and everyone of us are responsible, one way or another, as to what happens in our lives. Too many people over the past so many years find it much easier to place the blame elsewhere. That is one of the problems with our society. I was "accused" of being an over-protective parent as my child grew up, but guess what, he never, ever even came close to an incident such as that, or close to being kidnapped or any of the other things going on in the world; didn't fall down steps; wasn't involved as a passenger in a car accident, wasn't around drug users or "bad" people, because I PAID ATTENTION...I didn't allow accidents. Accidents are only LACK OF ATTENTION and lack of common foresight!
Also, my "over-protectiveness" did not in any way inhibit my child's growth. He is a Gunnery Sargeant in the Marine Corps and handles great responsibility well and has the foresight and the attention needed to prevent accidents!
As for the driver of that car, I'm not trying to "take their side"....I'm just saying we don't know what the circumstances were....my goodness, we have all run over something in the road at one time or another and when the weather is inclement or it is dark, sometimes you don't know what it is. I would certainly hope that if they knew it was a child, of if they find out through newscoverage that they ran over a child, that they will come forward. I'm sure that at least 99.9999% of people out there will not willfully run over anyone. Perhaps he/she looked down at the dashboard or the left rear window for just that one second and felt a thump as he car moved on. Probably wondered what it was but had no idea whatsoever that it was a child....why would any driver in their right mind think that a 2 year old was out on the highway at 2:00 AM or midnight or whenever it was?????
No, definitely no keto in the beginning of it.
I have listened to this dang thing 10 times at least and at a bunch of different speeds..... no clue on this one.
2000 is only the beginning
Believe me, that $2000 is only the beginning. I do feel for these people but many of them are only used to hand outs and they will be getting them left and right. Lets see how many of them stand in line for a job. I heard that WalMart will hire any evacuee, no matter what. I wish they would report how many have been hired thus far. I was watching Fox news the other day and one of the guys they were talking to said something along the lines of "They aint helping us at all, its like they shipped us all on slave boats again" He then said the F word, which Fox didn't see coming because you could hear it plain as day. Now that is the state of mind of many of these people. Give me, give me. The welfare system has tought many that the government will take care of them, they do not have to take care of themselves. Now I am not talking about all the evacuees just the ones that are not used to fending for themselves.
Okay, said what I had to say. This just all gets to me.
I do agree with you, too. In the beginning
I found the posts hilarious as well. But I got rather turned off with Frankie Boy. Things got graphic and very disturbing. I think that is when everything started adding up for me.
I like when everyone sticks to a name, as well. Things get confusing! I just hope this stops with whoever is trying to ruin this board!
The beginning salary for (sm)
a GS-0640-5 is $24677. Top end at that grade is $32084. Some localities have a higher pay scale, depending on the local economy. It's likely there will be no chance of promotion unless your supervisor quits, retires, or dies and you happen to be selected for the position. You must work to age 65 or 20 years of service, which ever comes later. Search

for all federal job postings. If you decide to apply for a govt job, be sure to read the qualifications for the position. When you write your resume, use the exact terminology (keywords) as the job description. Some clerk who has never transcribed anything in her life will be the one to look at your resume and decide if you are qualified. The only thing she has to go on is the qualifications listed for the position. When you fill out your paperwork for your security clearance, do not lie about anything. They don't care what you've done in the past, they are looking for any secrets you might have. If you have secrets you can be blackmailed!
p.r.n. at the beginning of a sentence
P.r.n. is incorrect. The correct way to type this would be:
1. Ibuprofen p.r.n.
not
1. P.r.n. ibuprofen
Slow beginning
Paid by the line, my first job paid less than $2.00/hour. First year earnings were about $10,000. Currently, depending on the worktype and dictator available, working for a National, I earn an average of $16/hr with the worst times being $7.00/hr and the best times being in excess of $22/hr. Again, the quality of the dictation makes a huge difference in production, obviously. I use Instant Text, the Expander program, which has made a huge difference.
Thanks. Good tip. I was really beginning to wonder ! nm

It's a great beginning
I think it's great and a step in the right direction. I think what this industry needs from us is proactive steps toward making it known to people outside of the industry just what is taking place. If every MT concerned about their job security wrote letters to the President, their representatives, media people - reporters, in particular, and it began to resonate with people just what is taking place, maybe changes would actually happen. It costs nothing to shoot off an email to a local reporter, a member of Congress, the Senate, etc. Let's get them to pass laws making it illegal to send medical records overseas.
I work for 2 companies and make
0.0825 cents per 65 character line with spaces at one and 0.10 cents per 65 character line with spaces at the other so it just goes to show it varies.
Depends on who you work for as to how much you make..
The first online company I worked for, unfortunately, found out later they were India-based. Anyway, I work in Escription and made SQUAT. It would take 12 hours or more to make $100. Now, I work for another company that uses Escription and I can make up to $26 an hour doing VR. I think these companies set something up in the line count as how to count it and also it depends if they pay for headers, footers, etc. I definitely got ripped off the first go round. I like the company I work for now and like Escription. You can make money on this platform, although I am paid more than 3.5 for VR. That is ridiculous.
I need computer help. How do I make PRD work
PRD is on my old MQ program, but I can't seem to get it moved over to my Microsoft Word page. I can't seem to get my Stedman's Spell check over there either.
Help.
How much do you make per year doing MT and do you work PT/FT and
for a company or have your own clients? Just wondering how I compare. I work for both and made just over $24,000 last year.
ICs - how much do you make per line and do you work for ...sm
a large company, small company or have your own contracts?
I work at MQ, live in MI and make less than 10.5 cpl.

Make Word 03 and 07 work together!
First of all, I appologize for the LONG message, but well worth reading if you use Word. I asked this question on the Microsoft Discussion Board on 11/7/08. Here are the posts:

If it works for you, feel free to share with your colleagues. If double clicking a doc or dot file opens Word 2003 and not 2007 it should work with the company software - depending on how the company software calls Word.

I hope this will help everyone! I know it helped me. I love typing in Word2007, but for now, I will have to type in Word 2003 until my company's software is compatible with it. At least I can have both programs running at the same time! The info on his web page about creating a toolbar is not necessary, unless it is something you need to do for Word 2007.

Numbers at beginning of sentence
I know that if a number begins a sentence you spell it out, but I'm not sure about after a colon. We type:
BLOOD LOSS: 50 cc.
but what about
FLUIDS: 500 cc normal saline. (?)
Does the "500" need to be spelled out since there are words after the quantity, or is it considered part of a sentence beginning with "FLUIDS?"
