I was just the opposite, I bought the Bose to replace a set of Shure E2c

Posted By: but didn't like them as well. -G on 2008-04-15
In Reply to: I have two sets - aero

The sound quality for both brands is excellent, but the Shure ear buds, because of the way they fit, seem to block out the ambient noise in my environment better and provide more focused audio. I like the Bose for my iPod for the opposite reason though, because they don't block out the ambient noise as well. A lot of people are bothered by the way the Shures fit though, so I know they aren't for everyone. I have a set of E3c's now and, although I am finally used to them, I think for transcription the E2c's are better.

I did it girls. I tossed my old headset in the trash and bought Bose. I've got a long

etymotic-6 earbuds versus Shure E3? sm
Has anyone tried the Shure E3 earbuds? I have read the sound quality is just as good but they are more comfortable than the etymotic-6 earbuds.  Can anyone shed any light?
I bought a wedge at Michael's for about 59 cents. Bought one for my SM
Lanier station so I could see the display and one for my keyboard.
VR and ASR will never EVER replace MTs
I have done reports, in fact one just now, where the dictator jumped three or four different times from the hospital course to the diagnosis.  How is a voice rec machine going to pick this up and put it in the right format?  Also, the other day I had a doc that dictated a surgery on both the left and right foot....although in the diagnosis it was the right foot only. I get docs who are confuses as to gender of patient, says he...she...he...then she through the report.   And again, more than once a day, I get a doc who talks on the phone as loud as he is dictating.  Won't the machines pick this up?  What about period as opposed to the actual symbol period?  I don't care what you say, we will not be replaced!!!  Not possible.
Do a Replace.

Edit, Replace. Search for .(one space) and replace with .(two spaces) You can also write a macro to do this for you.

You may want to replace your

PS in example just replace Alt J with f3 if that is the you want to go
nm
Why replace them?? Don't you know
x
i used to replace them
just as soon as a new edition came out. Now, am only updating my most used ones, which include the surgical book. i've been at this 30 yr, and do use the I/N for lots of research, but prefer the books, where i can make notes, highlight, etc. I find them more reliable and quick than the I/N in may circumstances.
EMR will replace some
some MTSO. Our local hospital here is using eRecord which allows the doctor to dictate into certain fields and requires in-house transcriptionist/secretary to go in and transcribe directly into EMR. However, at my old group of hospitals in prior state I lived the EMR we had incorporated DolbeySTAT into the EMR so it depends on the hospital
Looking to replace my headset.
I'd like to hear what everyone prefers for these.  I've tried all kinds but am not sure what I think are the "best."  I want good sound quality whether it's from my computer or C-phone and will be using them for both (unless I should have 2 different kinds).  At any rate, I'm curious what you all use or what you think are the absolute best.  Thanks.
You get what you pay for. If you're willing to replace in

2 years might be okay.

Sounds to me like he wants you to help him replace you. sm
These doctors are so clueless! They have no idea how many times we save all of them every day from looking and/or sounding ridiculous. They have no clue concerning the many, many mistakes they make in their dictation or the great lengths we go to in order to get it right when they can't, don't, or won't. After years of making our lives miserable with their completely rude and thankless approach to their dictation, they now would have us help them send us to the soup lines. Don't help him replace our industry. They all need to find out just how much we do for them, and it seems reasonable that they should start by being victimized by their own careless and often unintelligible dictation. If he plans on using VR himself to produce these reports, then let him deal with the frustration of watching the VR platform just sit there because of its inability to decipher and record what he just ditated. Let him reap the mistakes that will glare back at him due to his lack of understanding of the language of his own business. Let him catch his own mistakes and fix them if he can and let the rest go through to his own embarrassment. He may even be one of the better dictators, but that still doesn't eliminate the fact that he would burn us all tomorrow along with our profession if he could. Don't help him. He needs the rude awakening I'm hoping he'll experience without you. If he plans to replace you with another company and wants your macros to help them do a better job for him as they offer him a lower rate while benefitting from your hard work, I say let them do their own hard work in creating their own macros while they sell themselves and the rest of us down the river by cutthroating the price.
not sure on this, but maybe just delete and replace nm

need to replace DAC phone

Hi all.  I need to replace my DAC phone and looking for recommendations.  I currently have two and both are on their last leg.  ONe is a DA-125 and the other is a DA-127.  I don't think I necessarily need the same exact one.  I just need to make sure it is good for VDI.

I have had the DA-127 worked on, but with time the issue is back and it is just plum worn out after almost 10 years of use.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

you say ESL MTs have better quality and should replace US MTs?
Can you back up your claim? I do not believe for one second ESL MTs are better in qaulity than US-based MTs.

Have you had first-hand experience editing reports from ESL MTs?

Blaming the MT is almost ridiculous in my opinion. Blame the MTSOs and the managers for it is their responsibility to hire/train/mentor/teach and deliver ongoing support and supervision.

Blame the hospitals who demand we as MTs single-handedly carry the entire burden of quality all the while cutting nurses jobs (jobs that directly and adversely affect patient care), who got in bed with the devil (offshoring) to make their profits, who day in and day out come up with new ways to 'cheat' patients of care and make more money for themselves.

...and the MT is supposed to carry all the burden? we are not martyrs, we are working women most of which just trying to make a living on what are now becoming third-world wages thanks to every suit in this business that used to be more of a humanitarian effort rather than a cash cow.
Opposite for me
As I sit here in my suit, blouse, nyons, heels and pearls I just gotta feel a little feel like I am not in the norm as to what I wear to work.  Guess I will have to change the dresscode in my business.  I was thinking of letting up a little and not requiring the nylons but at the last minute just could not do it.   Perhaps in 2007 I won't be so strict with myself.  What do ya think?
For me it was the opposite
At my last in-house job, the company (hospital) itself as a whole was fine, but the beyotches in the transcription department were beyond belief. I don't say anything about them to people who know them, but it is a BAD situation.
Oh, no...just the opposite!
I've got one that hits pause for every sentence. Trouble is, he starts yakkin' before he unpauses, and pauses it before he stops yakkin', so I've got no beginning and no end on every sentence he dictates. To top it off, he's a speed dictator too. ARRGHH!

Really, really annoying! I'd rather listen to empty space.
And I'm the opposite SM
If this were one top with two arms, then I would agree, but since it is two separate tops (the top of the left arm and the top of the right arm), I would make it the tops of the left and right arms. But that Catholic school education feels like a billion years ago, so God only knows if I'm remembering the rules correctly.
I did the opposite...
I had been doing clinic and acute care, then was trained to do radiology.

I found acute care and clinic work to be far more interesting and enjoyable than the Radiology, so Rad transcription pretty much bored me senseless most of the time. I did it for 5 years, then switched back to the acute care and clinic work.

If you're up to a challenge and enjoy MT work in general, I think you'd really enjoy it. It will probably seem overwhelming at first, but you'll know some of the basics from radiology and should be okay.

Good luck and keep us posted!!!
does anyone know any natural way to replace estrogen?

I have to replace mine every 3 months or
so, but I use the cheapies, too. I found that the expensive ones got just as sticky and gummy and slowed me down, so in the long run, they cost me even more money because I would not replace them often enough.
Try cutting out soda and replace with
Green tea. I don't know if it will work but I cut out all diet pop this week and have been drinking diet green tea...Arizona brand, Lipton Citrus, and I've been making my own just with tea bags. I'm also 43, lost my dad in October, really depressed here in the Wisconsin winter, and a week ago I was at my highest nonpregnant weight. Well, let's see, actually I weighed about the same as I did at the end of my pregnancy with my first child back at age 21...and I gained 50 pounds during that pregnancy! So...not so good. I can't go all the way on induction again, but I have been watching my carbs this week, although I really believe that even without that, this green tea is helping curb my appetite. I used to sit here and grab a snack and always be munching on something all day long. I haven't been as hungry and have hardly been snacking during the day. I'm also not falling asleep in my chair at 2-3 every day. It might be a little change you could try and see if it works for you. One other thing I've done...I've actually gone outside and walked. I work all the time and never make time to exercise, but I was feeling at my wits end and very depressed at getting to that weight. So, on Sunday before anyone got up, I went outside and actually walked for nearly an hour..and it was 32 degrees, although sunny. I've done that 4 more times this past week, when weather has permitted, and I mentally feel better. I've lost 8 pounds this week with these little changes, but mentally feel much better and am just taking it one day at a time to keep it up.
How to replace letters on keyboard? (sm)

The letters on my keyboard get rubbed off within a couple of weeks of buying the darn things (just bought a new Microsoft ergonomic keyboard 2 weeks ago and already the A is half gone).  Is there anyway to buy replacement letters for these darn things?  Or do they make white sharpie markers?

I end up replacing the stupid keyboard at least yearly because after the letters are worn off, I find I wear grooves into the keys.  This is ridiculous.

Thanks in advance!

How to replace letters on keyboard
I have the same problem.  I have worn 11 of mine off and my keyboard is new too.  I am going to try that keyboard sticker idea.  Anything is worth a try.   My husband and son also use my keyboard from time to time and they fuss about those missing keys.  Thanks for the idea. I will try.  I do not use any lotion on my hands when I type.  They just do not make them like they used to.
How often do you replace your reference books, or (sm)
do you all strictly use medically acceptable internet sites for research now?  I've been using the internet a lot, but I'm thinking of getting a new Surgical Word Book.  Wondering if it is worth my $50 to do this.  Thoughts?  Thanks in advance.
bose
I have Bose Triports and after a few hours they actually hurt my head.. on top, they are almost too heavy to wear for longer than a few hours at a time. But I will put up with the pain for the SOUND QUALITY is unbeatable. Have turned my volume down to almost nothing now, whereas before I was always listening to everything on high!
I have the Bose

with the 5 CD disk changer.  The sound is magnificent!!  Especially if you like classical or opera.  You feel like you are there in person.

When I lived in a 2-story house, I had my office in a loft upstairs and the Bose downstairs and I would put on music and could hear it all over the house, even up to the loft.

I am now in a one-story and have it in my office.  It has a remote which makes it very convenient to mute or turn down the sound when I have a difficult dictator to listen to.

I bought it on monthly payments with no interest (next best thing, or even better, than paying cash).  I see that Bose still has that offer going once in awhile.  With the CD changer, I think it was about $1200.

I feel it was a very good purchase and would do it again.

Bose CQ 2 (sm)
Like I said, I just received them yesterday, tried them, and packed them right back up, didn't even want them for 30 days knowing that I wasn't going to keep them. I just got this Radio Shack pair with the ear cups, good sound reduction. The only thing is that the volume must be up louder than that with the Bose. Even my husband, who is a fanatic about stereo equipment agreed with me. I was searching for better clarity mainly, noise reduction secondly, but the clarity is only as well as the recording. My pair at Radio Shack was about $19.99. Hope you can get a pair.
I use the Bose
headphones. They are expensive but phenomenal in cutting any outside noise.
Anyone use Bose?
I have often wondered about them, but its such an investment for at least $100.
I also want the Bose. Let us know how you like them. Sm msg
I really need them in summertime.  I love to leave my office windows open but between the lawnmowers going and all the activities that go on in summertime, it's becoming impossible to have them open.  Thanks for any info on them, if you use them!
Bose
I have had the over-the-ear type for about 9 months and they are great.

My husband has the on-ear type which he uses for general internet, etc. I had these at first but got the other pair because I didn't like the pressure on my ears with them all day and found the over-the-ear type to be more comfortable for extended use.
Bose
I agree. I have had QC2 for about a year and they are great.
Bose
First I bought the on-ear type. They were comfy for a few hours but not all day. So I gave them to my husband and they are great for him as that is about the amount he is on the computer.

Then I bought an over-the-ear pair and those are pretty comfortable for 8-hour stretches.
Does that particular Bose
actually fit around the ear without touching? Just wondering, because my cartilage gets sore when I have used similiar looking one (that did rest on the ears).

The ones I have now fit over the eas but have a different type of cushion and don't fit tight.

Thanks for any further info you can give me. : )
i have the bose
and they have both on-ear and around-the-ear types. I have the latter. I have both the passive noise (no batteries/just muffle sound by virtue of the earcups) and active noise (batteries actively counter outside noise) canceling types. Bought one set on ebay and one from company. I find the design of the noise canceling frame a bit more comfy on the head. They are both no doubt the best i've ever had as far as comfort and sound. I'm sold on 'em.
bose
I bought my noise-cancelling headphones in a large chain electronics store, so they were genuine, but also had problems with white noise.
I always thought it was the opposite of ...
guy, only now you can use guy for both sexes I think.
13-year-old opposite
Wow my 13-year old stepdaughter is opposite. Will not wear girl clothes and wants to buy out of the boy's department. Then she gets all her good tshirts outside and ruins them with stains, holes, etc. She is very very difficult. I almost wish she would try to wear my makeup.
I learned it exactly the opposite...
back in 1980 I learned that disc was for the spine and disk was for anything ophthalmological ......
we did just the opposite, but now bills alone about 2,500.....
We had a place similar to yours on a slough with lots of wildlife...loved the wildlife. Used to sit out on the deck and watch the great blue heron, raccoons, muskrats, ducks, etc. But never got it paid off as we kept building on as kids came along (3). We were there 30 years and finally sold to move out of the flood zone and into a new, easy-maintainance one story with smaller yard up near the hospital. The other place was so hard to paint and maintain that I knew we had to move before we couldn't take care of it anymore. Problem is our mortgage alone is 900$ month! Not as steep as others on this posting, but lots for us as the MT thing is not bringing in the money I expected! The house is worth lots more than we paid for it, and I keep saying we should sell it and rent until the big housing "adjustment" that I keep predicting, but family won't budge!
I have the opposite problem. (sm)
My hearing is too acute, and although it makes transcribing easier, if there is any background noise at all, it is the bane of my existence. I actually went to an ENT doc once to see if there was some way to tone it down a little! He just laughed. :(
woman of the opposite sex
That's hilarious! Thanks for the belly laugh. I needed it today.... LOL.
Mine are the opposite

I do look up lost dictation for my docs, they have been with me for many years --one has been for 18 years, they do give me Christmas bonues -- usually half of a month's invoice - they do give me Birthday cards, they always say "thank you", they always pay on time, never a bounced check or a question on my line counts, but then I go the extra mile for them.  They have talked about VR and EMR's but find it it too time consuming yet.  Maybe some day I will lose them to that but that is the way of the industry right now.  Right now I just thank my lucky stars for the accounts that I have and appreciate them as much at they appreciate me.   Yes, I do put up with rattling of x-rays and papers and dictating in a car or at a soccer game and when it becomes too bad, I do say something and it changes.  But in the most part they are pretty good.   Sorry will not share them with anyone.

Just the opposite here. I do great
on the test and then a few days later start to get into the account and wonder if I should really be doing better than I am doing and if they really believe it was me testing! LOL!!
I had just the opposite experience.
Bytescribe was too cumbersome and then there's the issue of three installs...Express Scribe just released a new version and there is a Special Audio Process under File that can help clean up files.
My account is just the opposite
We have been given the green light for over-time this week and next. It was slow but steady November through February but now it's a whole new ballgame. I'm not complaining, though!
I am just the opposite of what you are talking about
I set myself to make a certain amount each pay period, have to have X amount per day and that is what I make.
