Filezilla is software.
It only facilitates the process of transferring from the FTP to your computer hard drive. You can download files from one server to anywhere on your own computer that your little ol' heart desires.
For FTP, just need site, ie Filezilla or do you

Filezilla FTP site

Does anyone here use filezilla?  I have a question.  Usually I have a client who has me sign into her site (I'd guess you call it that?) through Filezilla and I use Filezilla to download work onto my computer.  Now I have someone who wants to send me work through Filezilla and I don't know how to tell her to do that.  I hope this makes sense.  Any help would be appreciated.   Feel free to email me if you'd like.

Good secure FTP site.... sm
I just got overflow work from a local hospital and I am trying to get started as soon as possible.  I have done searches on this site, but wanted to know if anybody could recommended a secure, HIPAA-compliant FTP site that won't charge much as this is my first account and I have almost no start-up cash.  Any information would be helpful to me.  TIA.
Need to set up FTP - Secure site recommendations / cost ??
I need to use a secure FTP to transfer medical files.  Is anyone using a particular FTP that they like.  What is cost associated with this.  Any info appreciated.  Thanks.
Filezilla is the software used to transfer files to an FTP server where the files "reside".

Send all doctors to this site

Hello, I found this blog today, it's absolutely great. I think we need to take up a campaign for all physicians to visit. It's a blog about teaching physicians how to dictate better. This guy is my new hero. They even have a store to buy funny reminders for doctors about bad dictating. Funny, funny.

i use hypersend to send them or you could use a free FTP site. nm
`
Core is software to upload and downloads. It's not a hosting site.

Thanks for your reply. Is this a free FTP site? If not, do you know the names of any free sites that would be HIPAA compliant? Thanks, once again.
FileZilla HELP!

Hello!

I am trying to configure FileZilla and wow...it is not easy!  I have a dynamic IP address.  I am also using a router and I have a firewall.  Apparently passive mode is the recommended mode (as opposed to active mode).

At this point I have three options:

-- Ask your OS for the external IP address (but it says this only works if you are NOT behind a rounter...so this one is out).

--I can insert an IP address (but this only works if you have a static IP address...so this one is out).

--Get external IP address from the following URL: http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php.  It says to use this option if you have a dynamic IP address (which I do).  "FileZilla will contact the above server once each session as soon as you use ACTIVE mode for the first time".  SO.... if I am using a dynamic IP address my only option is to use active mode, not passive mode??  How do I tell FileZilla to use active mode?

I am trying to connect using FileZilla to my webspace (webpages) provided by my ISP, Charter, so I can FTP files for my clients.  Does anyone happen to have ANY suggestions for me?  I much appreciate any help!

Thanks!

FileZilla
Open FileZilla and click on the first icon at the top left of the screen.  Enter the site information and then click on the Transfer Settings tab and click passive or active there.  I hope this helps.
Filezilla
You can download Filezilla here:

http://filezilla-project.org/download.php

Once installed, you need a host, username and password to login into FTP site.
filezilla allows you to see the directory tree...and it's free!

Filezilla is free and has SSL capability for security. nm

Can I d/l voice files from Filezilla to my Cdrive?
s
Yeah, you're right. Who cares who licenses your software? Heck, I use all pirated software anyw

why pay for anything, right?

Except that is AGAINST THE LAW!!!

secure
Hi. Don't get freaked out. This happens all the time. As long as you are online, someone somewhere is going to try to invade you. As long as you have a firewall, you are safe. Don't worry. It was just a notification by Norton that they are doing their job. Rest easy.
Secure FTP...(sm)
To enable secure FTP, there must be a secure FTP server somewhere, as well as a secure FTP client on your local system (and on the system of anyone else who is uploading or downloading files to or from the server).

You could, technically speaking, run your own secure FTP server but most likely you'll want to use a secure FTP hosting provider. Google the phrase "secure FTP hosting", including the quotes, and browse the results to check out pricing.

For the secure FTP client, there are a number of choices ranging from free to $$. Before choosing one, though, I would get the hosting issue above settled and ask whether they recommend any particular client. If not, you can Google "secure FTP client" and browse the results, looking for two things:

1. An easy to use graphical interface that will let you "drag and drop" files to effect transfers to/from the server.

2. The price range you want. This, to me, would be secondary to item #1 above though.

A secure FTP would be the best way - sm
I would love to know how to get one myself/set one up too. I know how to use a FTP program to upload/download to my jobs to a FTP site, but have no clue how to go about setting one up for myself so I can have my one account send me their voice files that way. So I use mydocsonline.com for that purpose right now which is not expensive--$99 a year, price goes up with the number of users though. Very easy to use too. But I am sure if I could get my own secure FTP site it would be cheaper (I hope) though some appear to be a bit pricy from what I recall when I have looked into this before.
A friend of mine got one and she is finding that some of her software, specifically her ISP software
x
I don't believe this is a secure server.

Having said that, if you encrypt any files BEFORE uploading to their server, you should be OK. There is a webpage where you can ask specific questions--the link is below.

Your information is probably more secure than ever before.
http://www.mtstars.com/docs/statement.html
A cell phone is not secure, so using it to

listen to dictation is not viable.  I have downloaded digital files via cell phone in a pinch, like during storms when I lose land-line.  If you got dictation via cell, you would have to re-record because there is no way to start/stop the dictation to transcribe live.  The quality of the dictation would not be as good as a land line or digital or whatever.   When you have unlimited service, it usually doesn't include unlimited data transfer so would not be feasible for downloading consistently.

Just not a good idea any way you look at it, especially if this is your primary source of obtaining work.

But I didn't think wireless was secure?
Just a long cable to my modem strung through the kitchen window.  LOL  Hubby wants to put a phone jack outside for me, but this is fine.
f-secure is also free and good....nm
x
I have a secure wireless router and
broadband service.  I use wav files so I'm not connected to a phone line.   being wireless, you're going to still be restricted to the signal strength anywhere you go kind of like using a cell phone but if you have a broadband connection on that mountain top with a wireless router connected to it, then your signal is coming from the router and not a tower that will have interference from trees, mountains etc.
Satellite isn't secure I think is the main

reason companies don't allow it and another is because the download speed is not consistent.  It can be as slow as dial-up at times.  There are also a lot of factors that can knock out your service, at least temporarily.   I had satellite for a year and overall it was okay, but if it snowed or rain hard I either had decreased signal or no signal, if the wind blew hard I might get tree limbs in the way of the signal or the signal was so sporadic that I couldn't download.

You can secure wireless networks,
Making it necessary to put in a password to access it. That'll take care of the moochers!
Are you talking about a Secure Certificate?
I'm not sure if that is the same thing as an e-signature? Perhaps you mean encryption. I'm not sure why you would need to supply a secure certificate to send files to a client; encryption 128-bit encryption should be find; 256-bit even better.
Secure documentation transfer

Hi, I'm a medical transcriptionist/medical information technologist of a small MTSO called ScriptExcellence. I use "ScriptWave" for my workflow management/secure data transmission between the clients and myself and my subcontracted transcriptionists. The program was designed by my program developer brother, and my service has used it for two years with great success and low cost. If you'd like more information, check out the site at www.scriptwave.net. Best wishes to you!

VPN or secure file transfer
Are all VPN's secure? If not, which ones are? I need to purchase one soon.
Secure file transfer......(sm)
I've heard of several people using FilePhile for secure file transfers, although I have no personal experience with it. It's supposed to be free, easy, and HIPAA compliant.

http://www.filephile.net/index.php
If u need server software, try guild ftp. If just user software
then try cuteftp, coffeecupftp, or wsftp. They don't charge a line rate and I believe guildftp server software is still free.
Satellite is not secure so there may be concern for HIPAA
violation.  Also satellite downloads are not dependable, sometimes they can be just as slow as dial-up, depends on the weather and how many others are on the server.
Need names of good, secure, FTP sites - sm

that are easy to use and access.  Have a doctor's office that will be sending me digital voice files in the next couple of weeks and need to switch them over easily to a new "system".  I prefer FTP though since I only have dial-up and I am used to using it with another job. Any preferences out there? Thanks.

The gov. doesn't care one jot about secure records!
.
Use a secure method of transferring files.

Encrypted email for delivery of completed documents works, but voice files may be too large for that method. A secure FTP site, either your own or through a commerical provider such as mydoconline.com or ftptogo.com, would work for both documents and voice files. You may need an FTP program, but there are lots of free ones out there, like filezilla.com, which is what I use.

secure documentation transfer without an MTSO

Hi, I'm a medical transcriptionist/medical information technologist of a small MTSO called ScriptExcellence. I use "ScriptWave" for my workflow management/secure data transmission between the clients and myself and my subcontracted transcriptionists. The program was designed by my program developer brother, and my service has used it for two years with great success and low cost. It would be an easy way for you to securely transfer audio files/transcribed reports without using an MTSO. If you'd like more information, check out the site at www.scriptwave.net. Best wishes to you!

Not a problem if working on secure server
My company uploads/downloads work from a secure server, not an open Internet connection (as in web browser). Work does not travel over Internet, but directly from me to server to client and vice versa. Records are not kept on my computer, but the server. If that is the case with your setup, I'd think it would not matter if you are typing in New York or Timbuktu.
Yes, Yes! Sue the OWNER of the plastic pool because they did not secure it properly. Now it was a
deadly object due to THEIR negligence! Just think of the $$$.
Trusting the other side was his biggest mistake. He should have kept himself secure.

Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.

It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.

We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.

It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!
I have noticed sometimes I will try to get into a web site and that site will freeze up and I dont

know if I have too many screens opened up and minimized or what. I tried to open a website sent by email and froze up the email screen. Not sure what I am doing.

Another big factor is software. If the software isn't
transcription friendly, it can really hurt your bottom line.

Otherwise, $1.20 per report is a pretty decent rate for radiology.

Good luck - hope it works out for you.
I subscribe to another web site and within the boards on this site they have

Would anybody be interested if adminstrators would allow us to have this type of board or even put it on the main board.  Like on this other board they tell you to go to a certain web site for a coupon for 20% off Barnes and Noble or when Target has reduced prices on seasonal things.  Anybody got ideas or bargains they would like to share to save money?   We could call it the MT Stars penny-pinchers board.

send one
I definately without a doubt would send one.  Just to let them know that you look forward to working with them, etc., etc.
98.8% but that I send 30% to QA...sm
and THIS was while I started a HUGE new account/hospital and I was on FULL QA/QC at the time......so yeah, EVERYTHING on that 3rd account was going to QA/QC for a couple of months (thousands of dictators there).
I cannot send more than 5% to QA or...
They decrease my cpl rate!  It does not matter that my quality is above 98.5-99% always.  And spelling names phonetically is NOT an option.
What does it mean when you send

of a VERY difficult dictator... yet you get no QA back... I left at least 7-8 blanks and have not gotten any corrections back from QA (which is the usual process) for me to look over and listen back over report. Does it mean that they don't know either? I notice this happens to me quite a bit when I get something difficult and am anxious to get QA back to see what I can learn.
