Maybe its your resolution?
its fine for me.
NY resolution
All I want for new Year's is a brand new job.
My resolution is...
My New Years resolution is to remember birthdays and anniversaries better. I've never been one to make a huge deal out of birthdays/anniversaries and I'm terrible at remembering when they are so my resolution is to change that. I set up a little system for myself so that I can remember ahead of time to send a card or gift depending on who it is so hopefully this will help me out. I can understand the weight resolution but since that's always my resolution I figured I'd try something different for a change.
resolution
The other day I was chatting with someone I have "known" for several years through a social chat room. She asked me what I did for a living and I told her I was a medical transcriptionist. She said "what is that?" so I explained briefly. She asked if I worked at home and I told her yes. She replied that she had a daughter who was looking for work and she wondered if that would work for her. Ok, maybe it's just me, but I am really tired of ppl thinking they can do MT work because they want to work from home. My resolution for 2009 is to not tell people that I work from home. I realize this is ridiculous but I just get really frustrated at times. How about you?
Temporary resolution
I scanned the SOAP sheet and can print it out (and it looks very good) and then use the sheets I have printed to print the first page of transcription on and the office is okay with this, at least for now. The MA will have to transfer the info from the original SOAP sheet header/template to the one I return with the transcription. I feel bad that I am causing the MAs more work but we all agreed that this seems to be the simplest way to go. It will actually save them money not having to purchase the sheets from the printing co. any longer at least. :) Money always talks, ya know. :D
My new year's resolution is to ... (s/m)
quit my crappy on-site transcription job, where I have worked for far too long and been treated like dirt for too many years, and take a job with a national so I can work at home and get a little peace & quiet.
Not resolution but appearance--this is what you need. sm
You don't want to full with the resolution of your computer as that is based on the type of video card inside your computer and you could end up having to reinstall your video software. I interpreted your message to mean that you had a smaller moonitor before you got the 19 inch one, so your icons, lettering, etc., are much smaller now that you went to the larger monitor, which will happen.
To fix this so you can work without straining your eyes, right click on your desktop, choose Properties, then choose Appearance. You will see Scheme and it may have Windows Standard or Windows Classic selected. You will need to select either Windows Standard Extra Large or Classic Extra Large for now--so you can work. Later, you can customize the settings exactly the way you want them for the icon bars, menu bars, text in your documents, etc. I hope this helps!
Changed the resolution....sm
I found a website that said to try increasing the resolution on the monitor. Since mine was at the highest available resolution already, I decided to go down in resolution....And so....voila....my desktop now fits on my whole monitor screen. However, now my resolution is less, and so everything is blurry.
So fixed the main problem, now another....but at least everything is on the screen now!!
why would the resolution change without someone changing it?

Could it be 'sacral high-resolution' ? - nm

I am so sorry you are going through this. It's not easy to be in that situation. I have been under a mountain of debt and staring at bankrupty before, with two small children and no money for food, and no help in sight.
I second the suggestion to talk with your creditors. Also, pay the necessities first, which of course you know already. I am going to look into Dave Ramsey myself, after that suggestion.
One thing I have leared is that change is constant. Things will keep changing and this will get better with time.
I do know people who have downsized from owning a home to moving into an apt. for a season in order to get out of debt. That may sound crazy, but in THEIR position it helped them with utility costs, commute costs, etc. I am not telling you to do that at all, but perhaps there are other options that would make things easier for you to pay everything right now.
Sometimes I feel like I would like to take just my laptop and a change of clothes and buy an RV and hit the road.
Wish we could have a big yard sale together.
Hugs to you.....sm
So sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. Let the memories comfort you.
Big hugs to ya!! { }... Don't let them
d
HUGS
I hope tomorrow is better.
slide the little slider where it says screen resolution. sm
you may want to play with it to get the size you want. i have mine at 1280 by 1024 pixels.
Restore System or lower resolution did it for me sm
I got a new monitor that wouldn't work in Word so I set it to the old, smaller resolution and it works in Word just fine now. On another computer Restore System fixes absolutely everything, saves my life over and over again!
You could just enlarge all type in your monitor resolution. nm

Hugs to you! I looked everywhere.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
{{{{HUGS}}}} Sorry to hear that. I'm sure....
his family would appreciate your kind words for their loved one.
Xs and Os -- Which are hugs and which are kisses? NM

HUGS! Yeah, I get it too.
My sister who is a CNA at a nursing home is constantly saying I 'just type what people say'. Yeah, OK... I'd like her to even TRY to do this!! My other sister thought that way too until I played a dictation for her and she put the headset down and said he couldn't understand a word said. Wish I could get the older sister to try it, but she'd not admit defeat anyway.
Or how it isn't a real job because I don't go to an office everyday. Yeah, I'd like to see them work with a toddler underfoot and still do a good job.
I'm happy with my career choice though and I'm proud of myself and my husband is proud of me so I'm happy with that! Plus I get to have this great job and still never have to miss any of my daughter's firsts.
We all have days like that. Hugs to ya...sm
and try to get some sleep!
Awwwwwwww....((((((hugs))))))))) to you.
So very sorry. Good luck to you my dear. Try not to worry too much, it'll work out.
Hugs to you, Laurie...What the world needs now
is love, sweet love. It's the only thing that there's just too little of.
Thank you so much! xoxo - lots of hugs! nm

Hugs to you. We really do care and are concerned. nm

mine is fine...sounds like a monitor resolution thing--
or perhaps, did you download an antivirus update or something. maybe your video card acting up?? just suggestions.
First, cyber hugs. Next, you've done nothing wrong
There is no reason for you to feel humiliated. He is the problem, not you. You know your family best and must choose the path that seems right to you. However, please consider making it clear to your family, your mother in particular, what has been going on and why you have been forced to make this choice. He has no right to make you miserable. Is there a trusted family member in whom you could confide? Having an ally in your family would likely lighten the burden. In any event, please strengthen your relationships outside your family so that you have caring friends and associates to count on if there is no one in your family to turn to.
Have you noticed how Ryan hugs all over Elliott?
He doesn't touch Taylor or the other guys but each time Elliott is on stage with him he's hugging and touching him.
Thanks! :::hugs Christina::: Didn't know about the upgrade :) NM

I hope this applies to companies like Medquist. I hope there
isn't a way they can get around it. I REALLY hope.
Screen Resolution/Font/Screen Percentage
My eyes are tired all the time. I usually have my monitor set at 800 x 600 pixels and use Bookman at 10 font in Word at 111% in the normal layout. What might be a better viewing screen setting to use?
Thank you dear!
But, my dear, you see, when you are able to
see another MTs line counts and the job #s that they have done, and how they skip many, many reports, when the work was sent and how the job #s went for each job type, you then KNOW when someone is cherrypicking!!! It is also great that you are able to go into the system and check out the job #s she DID and know that they were the best of the best dictators!! Believe me, it does make a huge difference to those of us who do not cherry pick. The account I work on is relatively small and only 5 or 6 MTs working on the account. When the cherry picker has her two days off, I really, really make great line counts. The rest of the week is a real struggle. I say keep showing the other MTs work.
This is definitely not someone's hallucination; it is a reality and happens all the time. Once an MT gets all the proof she needs, then it is only common sense that she should go to the supervisor to point it out and the situation should be corrected. What I try to do, at times, is go on very early in the morning, around 2:00 AM; do all the "crap" that she left for me plus then be able to get some of the good guys. There have been times where I've been tempted to skip the bad just like her and leave her the bad!! However, then I feel guilty!! Cherry pickers need to be ousted from MT work. Do the job that comes up and be happy about it!!
Then my dear ..
You have no clue about the workings of an inner city. I am not saying walk into bullets or gangs .. what I am saying is that you have no clue how the plantation mentality looks to the rest of this world .. lining up all the wrongs do not make them right and it is downright ignorant to be so obviously insensitive to those who live differently than you do. Mother help us all when there are people like you who have no concern for simple human suffering .. this is not a race issue god blast it .. it is a human issue and we all got here and are going out of here the same damned way.
Hello there my dear
You HAVE deserved it honey. But this post is neither the time or place to discuss your "bonus." (I am chuckling and I think you know why).
My dear, I think you know your beauty is more important to me than any report you could ever type. Perhaps, the next time I drive by, you could be in, um, lets say, your birthday suite? UH OH - I hope my wife don't catch me on here (shaking in my boots).
Smooches and Kisses my lovely.
Frankie Boy
Sorry, my dear
I am sorry you had to share it with so many women that night. It was getting difficult to get 15 gals hands around it.
Believe it or not, my dear...
Until recently MQ was THE best company around - and many of us do not want to "jump ship" just yet - we're trying to figure out how to "take a sad song and make it better" and not have to go to these other truly foul companies that aren't big enuf to pay what MQ pays and benefits MQ has which most other companies can't begin to compete with. Its like New York City - people complain about its problems all the time but nobody wants to leave to go to Podunk, Iowa. Well, we don't want to go to Podunk Transcription Company, thank U very much. MQ has a huge amount of potential and the fact they are going thru changes is to be expected - and we have every right to work together on a solution for us all. So go back to Podunk!
OH DEAR!
Much work! I would like to add ADHD has nothing to do with intelligence and autistics would never be able to speak out a story as you have detailed, or plan a revenge, especially weeks ahead. Her previous environment and genes I think win the cause of her behavior, and sociopath does comes to mind, seriously, and children do and are maturing much earlier now-a-days. . .especially females.
Thanks dear!!!!nm

Oh dear LOL
Doc just said, "She takes ginkgo biloba, when she remembers", I needed that today!

Oh dear!!
Yes, veteran MT made a typo on CONTINUE....happens from time to time with rheumatoid arthritis and AGE....still trying to make a decent living....even after a big pay cut for me and fellow account MTs from my current employer without a reasonable explanation. Unfortunately, I do not see the situation changing for the better for any American MT. Have a beautiful Saturday.
Dear RE
I believe you should contact an attorney or Google "free legal advice" and ask these questions. I do think you would still be violating your non-compete even though they pursued you. You should explain that to the company recruiting you and they should understand. Good luck to you.
Dear QA . . .
I understand there are two sides. I have nothing against QA -- really I don't. I feel we all learn and better ourselves from mistakes. However, I think everyone needs to be on the same page and QA would do better to leave out nasty comments when there is no need for them. Really I left a blank while typing an ESL doc that I had only typed 1 time before and QA faulted me for omitting dictation? Since when is leaving a blank for a word or two you cannot understand omitting dictation? And when I questioned in writing the "QA Head" about conflicting feedback she/he never bothered to respond. Do you have any idea how confusing that is? I want to do right by the company and be a good MT but how is that possible when no two QA people follow the same rules? I am the first to admit I am far from perfect but I give it my all. With almost every other MT job I have had I was taken off QA within a week or two. I guess I was already angry because my check was late, this only added fuel to the fire. There are days I feel good and days I am made to feel lower than dirt. I pray this board will always be here for those of us that need to scream and vent. :-)
no, dear, it's all about you and how you - sm
and how you utilize yourself with the knowledge and tools you have accumulated.
sheesh...you just Won't (not Don't) get it.
Oh, dear.
Doctors do not take it kindly when you take a swing at them. (Just ask that unfortunate, long-gone children's dentist I once went to....)
But seriously... take a good deep breath, let it out, then take another one, and remember, it'll all be over quickly. And whatever you do, do NOT watch that needle coming at you!!
Interestingly... I was about your age when I thought I was going to have to change jobs. Of course, back then, I'd been doing MT for about 8 years on typewriters, and I'm not sure they'd invented the word "ergonomics" back then... and the workman's comp carrier laughed in my face, because they hadn't figured out the concept of repetitive strain injuries back then either, except when it came to farm workers using short-handled hoes.... But "girls" sitting at desks? Fuhgeddaboudit. Go fix your lipstick, and shut up. (No, not quite, but close.)
Anyway... keep that left wrist immobilized as much as you possibly can, and watch out that you don't overcompensate with your other hand and make it start hurting too! (I know whereof I speak. Trust me.) Do whatever you can to adjust ALL of your daily movement activities--every little bit helps--and speaking from the point of view of an old geezer-chick, get used to living with pain. 'Cause the older you get, trust me, something hurting is going to be a way of life. You just sort of learn to ignore it after a while. Case in point--that would be me, still transcribing nearly 30 years after I thought I was going to have to quit.
And get that computer arrangement fixed up! :)
