Perhaps I am mistaken, but thought I saw a Dell with both sm
With today being cyber Monday they will be very busy but if they can help you, perhaps you would get a break. I got one today on a monitor from them. I could be wrong though but I am sure I saw a computer that had both, ????
It is going to be very interesting to see how you people feel once your office is closed and you are
moved into a regional office on DQS and find that there are tons of other MTs on the accounts you always had. It is coming for everyone so you might be singing another song as time goes on. Enjoy it while you can. Time are changing.
Amherst, I am out of the Atlanta Office
/
Atlanta office, guess now Florida, not sure.
In order to get my quota last week (which I did not get) I began my day at 2:30 that morning and at 5:30 p.m. realized I was not going to make it. I called my supervisor, who told me to stay on until midnight and at least try to get it. Before we hung up, she said be sure you are back on at your regular time, which is 3 a.m. So work until midnight and back up at 3. I stayed on until 10 p.m. and called it quits. I then got a call about not making quota and asked what I was going to do to correct this and was told that I needed to put more time into work. When I inquired if I was the only one not making quota, she said no, there are several. I asked what account, and of course, we are all on the same account - very difficulty ESL. At this point, I don't care anymore. I work 50+ hours, attend college full time and have a family. I am no longer willing to do this. They don't care, so why should we. I am very frustrated.
I thought I had heard it all....
Sometimes I wonder about people. Going along and transcribing a history and physical for a man who has a drinking problem. Guess what kind of job he has....he is a nuclear engineer!!!! Now, don't we all feel safe.
I thought I heard somewhere that they were bought out
by another company. Is that true?
Thought I'd heard/done it all. This is nuts!! sm
Doc comes on and I thought he had a poor connection or something because his voice is shaking... he says, "Sorry, I'm jogging and I'm a little out of breath..."
JOGGING WHILE DICTATING!!!???
Needless to say, I'm not enjoying this dictation.
Long report too... he's a cardiologist... lol... maybe explains the jogging...
Okay, just had to vent. Back to work.
Okay, thought you heard the phone
Best wishes to you. So much going on with marriages these days. I would never date someone else's husband, I don't care how attractive. We ladies have to look out for each other.
Be safe.
Thought I just heard that Gov. Douglas in VT is about to create his own
x
You are mistaken...
They really do not care about providing healthcare inside the prison. TRUST ME. I never realized the horror stories you hear are true until now.
You are mistaken
you wrote: ...and the funny thing is the ones who take it offensively and post these things are actually the ones who are racist or making it into a racist thing."
It's great *you* didn't automatically see the racial component of the original post, but RACISM is very subtle, and usually NOT recognized by those who do practice it the most (which is not to suggest this includes *you).
THAT'S why it's incumbent on all of us to never tolerate it, regardless of what "color" is being targeted.
The original poster may very well have the same problem with ANY bad dictator, but she/he ONLY complained about ebonic-speaking dictators.
If i am not mistaken
The key #'s are determined by the dictation system for the company you are working with. For instance where "7" signs off a report on some systems 7 jumps to the beginning on others. So, if you know what the keypad corresponds to for your system I can help you there. If this is a 0421 or 0424 you can go to the Classifieds board, down at bottom, unless it moves to page 2 before then, you can access a free c-phone manual which will walk you through the program steps.
You are mistaken.
Piecework or not, no company is required to pay you overtime unless they approve it. I don't know where you got this impression, but it is wrong. By the way, I used to be an HR director in California, so I know what I'm talking about.
no you aren't mistaken
What I mean is that I am currently enrolled in my CMT program at my school of choice and yes, after two years of experience I can then sit for the test...but I don't know what that has to do with my question...just wanted to gain some insight since I am new to the medical transcription game...sorry if I offended anyone
That poster is mistaken anyway.
I had been back and forth on this board all day Monday, and I did not see her post until after my younger son got home, after 3:30.
In any case, I just cannot believe this poor woman was attacked and accused of making her children feel bad. CLEARLY, her post was about her happiness that their first day had gone well.
you are SO mistaken and PATHETIC
I have worked for her for over 5 years and NEVER had a problem.
Guess going national to find decent transcriptionists is a mistake. All you do is slam, slam, slam. Pathetic bunch a lot of you are. You deserve stuggling with the huge companies and low work and crappy platforms and VR at half the pay.
Wrong answer. You are mistaken.
The company does not need to know your set hours. That is considered employee honey! They'd get in a lot of trouble if the IRS found out they had classified IC's working set schedules dictated by the company!!!!
You are sadly mistaken about what that means.
"Freedom of Speech" guarantees that on public property you, as an individual, may speak out against the government without fear of retaliation for it.
It doesn't mean you can say anything you want about any person or entity and be covered.
Of course the woman could be sued.
I may be mistaken but the mook of style 2 may have went to one space
My company that I switched to is single space..Talk about a habit to break after all these years.
Our refineries are closed
Our refineries to make gas are located in the gulf coast area. They were evacuated by the major oil companies on Saturday and Sunday and now they are caught up in the same damage as everyone else. Long lines and high gas prices because no one is currently manufacturing gasoline to supply those of us east of the Missippi, making what we have left from before the storm quite precious.
closed captions!
I put the TV on mute, but with closed captions on while I type. I hear with my ears, but read the tv with my eyes. I amaze people with this - and have been doing it for a decade!
closed caption
Thank you very much for the info. Guess I'll stick with my MT career....but may still look into other avenues. :)
closed pneumothorax?
Closed pneumothorax is air entering from the lung. Open pneumothorax is air entering from the outside.
This thread is closed. (sm)
I do want to comment that it is not being closed due to comments by the original "Mary" poster. It is, however, being closed because of everyone else's responses.
If you don't like the direction a thread is moving or disagree so strongly that you cannot make good contributions to the subject matter at hand, simply refrain from posting. It will die down, take a different direction, etc.
A thicker skin needs to be grown here. Everyone has their own opinion. It doesn't mean everyone will always agree. Threads can even get intense but they don't have to dwindle to personal insults.

Maybe, Live Help Closed is in caption (nm)

heaven should be closed to most IRS agents
As soon as possible, talk to an attorney who specializes in this. Ask them if you can file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. In many cases, you can ultimately pay up to 10% of a past owed date.
While this is being haggled in the courts, you can send money, or not. You will have the protection of the federal government, who will handle another branch of the federal government.
Just never miss a single payment to the courts.
IMO, a thread is closed when it is obvious
that nothing new is added to the OP and it deteriorates into a 'troll', unjustified insults, foul language and just tit for tat, going in circles.
True, as the moderator pointed out, it is not moderated for 'niceness.' but the post has to be civil. One can make a stronger point with politeness than with disrespect.
I am considering CART or closed captioning..
But I wonder that after transcribing for so many years, will my fingers be able to learn the theory needed to use the equipment. I would like to do the real-time captioning, as from what I have read, pays the best. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge or know anyone in this field?
"edit my reports with eyes closed"? what has that got to do with anything?
i don't live in a cave. i have a circle of local friends and family. i don't need an e-mail from a supervisor from gawd knows where to tell me i'm doing a good job. i'm doing a good job as evident by my paycheck twice monthly and my friends who want to spend time with me.
Now about this phrase - "I've been doing this over 10 years, independent and believe me I could probably edit your reports with my eyes closed my dear" WTF is that all about?
"edit my reports with eyes closed"? what has that got to do with anything? -
What are you rambling about about and could you PLEASE address the question asked of you in my TWO posts.
"edit my reports with eyes closed"? what has that got to do with anything?
WTF does this mean?
that was a judgemental and closed-minded comment

I closed my Delta Skymiles account. I won't fly with
them any more. Besides that, they tried to kill me and about 200 other people during one flight. Dang near crashed the plane and gave us all heart attacks.
closed captioning and court reporting
You should still consider it. If you are young enough to invest 4 to 5 years of school and entry experience, it may well be worth it. It certainly pays well, double to triple what medical transcription pays. Look into it.
I looked into the closed-captioning thing, and - sm
unfortunately (and quite OBVIOUSLY, if you ever see them in places like the gym, etc.), they are pretty much going to voice-recognition.
It's pretty funny reading all the misunderstood words VR does on TV! At least it makes the nightly news somewhat entertaining!
I had a friend go into court-reporting at the same time I went into MT. She tried to convince me to join her, but I (stupidly) picked MT because I knew I could get a job in only about 6 months while still working, whereas she was a full-time student and said that although you can learn it in a couple years, it takes a few more to really get up to speed, and start breaking into the job market.
So, let's see. That was back in 1975. She's still a court reporter, works when she wants, has good security, makes good money, put her kids through college, etc. And I don't have squat. Now I'm kicking myself for being so short-sighted and impatient back when I had a chance to get into a good middle-class line of work, instead of this __________! (Fill in the blank).
Post makes no sense. They need the closed

We closed our accounts before going with CCCS. Have been very pleased with the way they have handle

Is this Holiday a major one? Clinics and offices closed?
I guess I am out of it. How big of a holiday is this? All the kids home from school today? Post offices and banks closed? Seems rather quiet work-wise. Wondering if I should start cleaning the house or keep staring at the no jobs to do in my queue.
Thanks!
closed caption tv typing and court stenographer
You know the closed caption on TV programs, especially the Court TV transcripts....I wonder if those are computer-typed or human-typed. If they're typed by humans, then any one of us could do a hundred times better, as there are typos all over the place!
While we're on the subject....I wonder how much money a court stenographer makes, and wonder if it's more of a pain than it's worth. They don't look very comfortable when they're typing in to their little machines. Anyone know?
Have most people had good luck with their MQ office closing and moving to the regional office. Have
things gotten better or worse for you.
Yes, I lost mine. I upgraded the Office 2000 package to Office 2003. sm
I have over 2000 autocorrect entries and lost them all as well as my supplemental dictionary for my Stedman's spellcheck. Lots of grief!
Maybe you will be lucky and not lose anything. Good luck to you.
Veteran's day. Kids are out of school. Many doctor's offices are closed.

Auto Recovery will not help. She saved over the original and closed the file.

Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop

Well your statement sounds equally closed-minded to the one you're arguing with
Where one person prefers to live and why is their own business and no reason to diss someone else's personal choice.
Office politics. That is why I enjoy working at home. In the office,
people are in other people business. Just mind your own business.
This was sent out to Atlanta
employees, not personalized to one MT.
Any Atlanta MTs?
I am getting so frustrated with this office. The supervisors have turned into a bunch of robots. The only explanation you can get for what is going on is "I don't know, that is just what they told me to tell you." Who is THEY? Why are statutory employee being allowed over time and the full time employees are NOT allowed over time? What is going on here? Why has the whole atmosphere and morale changed? I don't mind typing the crappy accounts or working the crappy hours, but I will not be treated like a no count and be told things on a need to know basis. I just don't understand... and who is over the Regional MT Manager??
