conclusions here about the whole situation, including yourself. You do not know that just because she gave your husband's friend a ride home, that anything happened between them. Since she already had his friends cell number, perhaps he simply left something in her car and she wanted to return it. It could be totally innocent on everybodies parts. She may not even be aware he is married. But any way, that all is between your husband's friend and her. Since your husband told you about it in the first place, I think there is nothing to worry about in that respect. However, your over reaction to it will probably change things between you and him, and calm open communication is the only thing that may change that back. You already crossed the line with a jealous outburst, and perhaps will never be able to cross back. He will always see you in a different light now, and that you possibly do not trust him, and he will be very careful about what he tells you in the future. I have learned through experience that jealousy, anger, and mistrust are the quickest ways to drive your husband to find someone else. Secondly, if there IS an affair going on between the friend and this woman...it is none of your business. Don't confront the friend..don't confront the other woman...and definitely do not call the wife to tell her. If there is an affair going on, she will find out on her own, but if you stick your nose in, and they patch things up between them, you will have lost a friend for yourself, and your husband. Stay out of it. I definitely think you need to sit down with your husband and calmly talk about this. Tell him that you are sorry for over reacting and that you DO trust him. That is the most important. Never bring up the phone call again. Never ask for the number. He probably feels that you will interfere in something that is not your concern and that is why he does not want you to have it...not because something is going on. He thinks you will embarrass him. that is all. Don't start making waves when you are the one who would end up losing in the long run. Trust me...I know. I was jealous and suspicious of my ex husband and all of his female friends. I reacted to every situation with jealousy and anger, and tried to FORCE him to stay with me. If they want to go, you can't stop them from going. I ended up losing him because I drove him away with mistrust and jealousy. He is married to her now, and I hope they are very happy together. I am not angry and I am not bitter. I did it to myself and I take full responsibility for that. I just do not want to see it happen to anyone else, because it can be avoided simply by how you approach things. Take care and good luck to you.

I could get on these boards and tell folks I'm clearing $150K a year after taxes, own 3 homes, and a 70-foot yacht, and who's gonna come check to see if I'm feeding them a line? So that's what I think alot of that '$50-grand a year' is... just a lot of wishful thinking.

wow, thats awful, and they didnt even tell the employees? I dont understand why companies lately are so dishonest. Do they not know that if not for us, they would not MAKE any money, since most (not all, but most) of managment and company owners are not MT's and would not know the first thing about being one, at least I have found that to be true so far. We are either replaced by off-shore or Voice Rec...how sad!

the other night was a cool $10,000 and all she got was an aspirin. (she thought
she was having a heart attack and it was GERD. But to rule it out they gave her
the works; CT scan, CXR, blood work, cardiac enzymes......and on top of that came the doctors (including the cardiologist, oh my) bill.

but you have to be careful. There are alot of sm
them out there and some will charge you a percentage. If you go to the counseling service that is run by the United Way or something, that is reputable. In my town it is just called Consumer Credit Counseling, but it is a United Way Agency. They don't charge you anything except maybe a 5 or 10 dollar a month fee for "postage and handling" and I don't think you are required to do that.
I have heard folks say it will ruin their credit, but it has been my experience that after you get that far, your credit is pretty much damaged anyway. I had a good experience with them.

Perhaps you did not read all the posts, yes I did get alot of negative comments and thank you, but I don't need you to tell me to let it rest. This is a free county, I have freedom of speech and will let it rest when I feel its proper or are you the board medidator? Go ahead its your serve, what witty comment are you going to come back with now, tell me to get a life? That seems to be one of the most popular comebacks.
Alot of companies keep you in QA because
when you're released you start making more money. You probably are doing a good job and would be out of QA with many other companies. I don't remember a patient losing their life because an MT put a comma in the wrong place! It's ridiculous and keeps you from making better money. On the same note, if you get released from QA then you start getting HORRIFIC dictators that keep you from going above and beyond your required line count so you reach an incentive pay. It's a no win situation. Glad I'm weaning out of being an MT and only doing it part time and also work elsewhere! Tired of the B.S.
This job has changed alot
Hi, new here.
I've been an MT since 1997, and there have been ALOT of changes. I went to school for MT and after graduating, I got a job at a company that let me work at home. It was sheer bliss. I could be home with my young children, and made a pretty lucrative amount of money, but reasonably for my clients.
Now, after being away from it for only four years, that seems to have all changed. Outsourcing, voice-recognition, big companies, it's sad to me. Even working full-time, turning over a pretty decent daily line count, I can't make enough to support myself and my kids. Oh, that is, if I could get a job.

like where you live. Is it hot and dusty? Do you drive alot of miles? etc. I like to have mine changed every time I have my oil changed. That way I do not have to worry about it. Just my opinion.
My take on that is that alot of it is pure FANTASY.
Just to make my minimum lines, I'm working 10-11 hours days, plus at least part of Sat., and am making about $23,000/year. And I'm not a newbie, either - been at it for over 30 years.
I just switched to nights and found I like it alot.
I get a nicer variety of reports so I don't get bored. I keep the tv on behind me but don't watch it. No interruptions, no phone, no kids or hubby, although my kids are all out of high school. They still tend to interrupt. The dogs are sleeping so I don't have to let them out. I do open a window for some of that gorgeous night air. I only need about 6-7 hours of sleep, so I hit the hay when I am done and sleep for around 4 hours, get up and do a few things, then conk out again for 2-3 hours later. It seems to be working out.
I like Laura Bush, She has alot of class.
If we want to get personal about the husband situation, then I mean come on, who can forget all of Bill Clintion's antics?? Ole' Hillary stayed w' him just to further her career. To me personally, When I look at the current Bushs I can see they they like each other, even DARE I DAY IT< LOVE each other. With the Clinton's all you got was cold air from Hillary, but then again who can blame her? But she is the one who stayed......so I don't feel bad for her at all.

There is alot of fine print to read
in order to receive the bonus. Many MTs don't stay long enough because these companies are usually deceiving. Think about it, if it were so easy to get $500, $1000, etc. everyone would be jumping at the chance. Don't bother, it's a smoke screen

overtime, holidays, etc. if what I got in exchange for that actually made any difference. Unfortunately it does not.

Also, if you do not use those fields to type on you can simply hit Alt + A then ctrl + shift + F9 and it will turn all the field codes to test instead of having to go delete them all.

I said nothing about specific companies, nothing about cpl. It was mentioned having to sit for days with no work and to that I say, then why stay? Keep one job while you look for another, but there is no reason to stay with a company that has no work. And while we are at it, why do so many people say "Tell me a good company that pays well." Do you want someone else to write your resume and do the work for you, too. Check out ALL the MT boards, Google for jobs, send out resumes, make phone calls. As has been said a million times on this board, a good job for one will not necessarily be a good job for another. Just don't sit staring at an empty screen, waiting for the MT fairy to drop jobs in your lap. Last I heard, her job was sent to India.

A third of my work is radiology and the rest is basic four reports. I prefer doing rad because of the fast pace. It's a small hospital with a rotating doctor and I do anywhere from 50 to 150 (this is not counting combined reports) reports a day which only takes a couple of hours of my day. Would really like to do more rad but afraid of the committment it would mean. Any suggestions?

I just wanted to second that dogs don't do well with berber. My dog loosened one loop while chewing/playing with something (I can't remember whether it was a treat or toy). When he realized what he'd done, he then proceeded to pull it until I had a huge run in the carpet dead center in the room. We've never had behavior problems with him since we got him, but he didn't know any better and kept right on going. I vowed never to get berber again after that.

Is there anyway that you can jump around in a word document? Meaning say if i have a template set up with all these headings is there a way just to put a * or something after the heading and be able to hit shortcut keys to jump right to that spot so I could start typing. THANKS FOR THE HELP!
Why is everyone jumping all over her post?
I don't believe she mentioned that she believes there is anything wrong with prayer. I think she was surprised to hear this being dictated. It is surprising! I have never come across such a statement in my entire career. It doesn't mean that prayer between patient and physician does not happen, it just is unusual that it is being dictated...that's all.

Hi everyone! For years I have been jumping to fields in Word by using the F11 key. Does anyone know if I can customize my keyboard to use alt/c to jump around and how to set that up?

I think when some people got into transcription, they figured it would be easier than it is. It's a real job that you have to concentrate on at all times. I don't answer the phone, my husband knows not to bug me and when my kids were still at home they knew not to bother mom while she's working.
This is still a great career for me. I get as much work as I want and make as much money as I want.

Is it that they can not comprehend what they read? This post was an effort at encouragement to some, not all. Again, someone takes a sentence out of context, turns it into something else, just so they can be this rude. No some may not want out of this business. It is all they have left. What she was encouraging was that if you are still young enough, why not start searching for another passion if this one has been taken away from you? I don't think the message was too hard to comprehend. If you want to "vent" (if that is what some call it), please do not do it to people who do not deserve this.

I seems strange that clients would be jumping
ship when the TAT time is pretty much up to the minute. You would think transcriptionists would be jumping ship instead. I don't believe the clients are jumping ship.
I really don't have any problem jumping accounts
A bit time delaying at first to learn the specifics and keeping the client profile open for referrence.
The only thing I hate is when I'm literally changing accounts with every other report and realize (usually as I hit send) that I did things on that report that is the standard from the account previously ie: number med list versus not...using 1. vs 1) etc.

Microsoft Word margin jumping
Hello. I've had this happen before when opening MS Word and suddenly the curser jumps to the very top of the page and not at the usual 1" margin that I have set at. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't remember how I did it last time. It just started doing this again. I've checked my margins and they are fine in page set up.Thanks.

If you have the knees for it, jumping rope slims fast.
Jumping rope is effective because it doesn't build a lot of muscle bulk in the thighs, which many women don't want. You get calf definition and it works your core muscles, arms, and especially your heart and lungs. The effect is very slimming.
But I also saw a study that said men slim fastest with aerobic exercise, and surprisingly, women slim down fastest if they do strength training in addition to aerobics. Weird, hey?
if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.
As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.

I found your post respectful, and right on as to how you feel. it does not seem that difficult to sift through to read and respond to messages someone might not care for...
Just remember that it is not the people on this board who short changed their people and ONLY after
caught did they (after they were suied) make an effort to look good by sending out these checks. Now, think about this--had they done this many years ago when they short changed everyone, that would have been honest. Does it not bother you that only after they know they are under the gun that they are doing this to try and make themselves look good?
I used to work for MQ and I used to like what I did. I never can say I really liked the people that I worked with, but I really think they had some of the best accounts that I have ever come across in the MT industry. I loved working the major teaching hospitals that I did, but that certainly does not mean that I enjoyed being cheated out of pay.
So chill already. People have been cheated, were lied to, and only AFTER they got caught have they tried to return some of the money they robbed us of (as well as cheated their clients).
We all have reasons not to be happy with this company and you go off on us because we are complaining of things like small refund checks of a penny or a few cents or a few hundred dollars and NO WAY to even check to find out if this is correct?
I am sorry you are unhappy all of us thinking that there is still a dead rat in the cellar, but there is still a dead rat in the cellar and nothing will bring the dead rat back.
I would hold no love for a company that I know willingly cheated the very people who helped THEM make money out of their hard-earned money.
Go take a deep breath and think about that.
My people skills are just fine. I just want to hire people who want to work.
I've not been ugly, I've asked questions, legitimate ones. Please tell me what is wrong with that. This site is not just for MTs, it is for QA Editors, Supervisors, Service Owners, there's even sections for Billers, Coders, and Nurses.
