Thanks to all who participated
in writing letters with me to the President about the medical transcription field.
obviously you have never participated in a debate.
you have to make an argument for your side. you can't just call people names and win anything but the argument in your own mind.
obvious you have no education beyond 10th grade.
Yes, I remember them... I participated
I had not thought to look back at it, but it is probably depressing to see how we have regressed! THANKS!
Has anyone participated in employer health assessments?
Aetna is my ins. co. This year, I was dx'ed with BC, grade I, Stage 1 (thank you Jesus!). The ins. co. apparently sends a person to my home to draw blood.
The participation results in discount in health ins. premium for employer (I think!). I am receiving mail to schedule my appt for the home visit. I find this rather invasive somehow.
Has anyone heard anything bad that can come of this?
Thanks Mates - Feliz Navidad!
several categories
In the category of brooders, I agree - also the dude who used to be on ER - Eric Lasalle. Other brooder runner ups - Sean Penn, DMX, (yeah - WHAT) 50 cent, dude from 90210.
Different categories with IRS
In about 1997, the IRS began pushing the use of SE (statutory employee) for MTs. If you are an MT with a long-term arrangement to provide services to an MTSO, this is the classification that is appropriate, regardless of full or part time. You can be an IC and SE at the same time without one affecting the other.
I was an IC, SE and employee in 1998. My return was audited. I had a contract for each instance that spelled out my relationship with each. THAT is what saved me and the SE company from having to deal with an IRS mess.
MT has become less of a long-term arrangement these days with heavy turnover. People take jobs - or jobs change, i.e., going to VR - and realize they are not making even minimum wage and leave. Companies don't want to be in a position of either guaranteeing (sp) work or a minimum per hour wage, so they offer IC to protect themselves. You can ask about moving to SE status after a trial period. Some of the smaller services may accommodate this; others won't.
Whatever happens with the status of the job, DO protect yourself with a contract because the IRS pendulum is swinging back in the direction of reclassifying MTs as employees and moving away from the use of SE.
Sorry that is cant get in. All the categories have disappeared for me.

ceramic tile or vinyl
Hi; when we bought our house it had carpet in the bathrooms, dining room and kitchen (even UNDER the stove!!). Couldn't wait to get it out of those places. We did go with Pergo in the dining room and kitchen, and it has done very well; however, there are no children in our home so there is less wear and tear on it. We have had it about 5-6 years and it is holding up very well. Just thought I'd share my experience with it :)
I would go with vinyl. We have tile now and I think it killed my dog. -sm
She slipped and fell on it when she slopped her water. I almost did too. She could hardly move. I think she might have broken some ribs. At the least they had to be bruised. It was actually my husband's cousin's dog so he took her to the vet and they put her to sleep on me. The vet said she was in severe pain. She was my little buddy. I never had an animal that loved me so much. (And I've always been a cat person.)
Tile is very slippery, hard, and cold too. I found the vinyl a lot easier to clean. Our tile is a mess. It cracked, the grout is dirty even though it was sealed. It's mostly because of the dogs that it's so yucked up. I can't stand going over by the front wall. It's soooo cold there, but I'm really intolerant to cold.
Our vinyl lasted a lot longer and was more comfortable than the tile. Not to mention, we had to cut all the doors besides.
I love ceramic tile.
I had vinyl tile in my kitchen most of my life and had switched to ceramic for a while now. I love the ceramic tile for ease of cleaning and durability. It doesn't stain and it doesn't rip or peel up after a while either. It's more expensive, but well worth it in the long run.
ceramic tile/vinyl
I have had ceramic tile in my kitchen and also vinyl. Ceramic does clean much easier, looks nicer, but it is very slippery when wet, can cause a concussion if you fall on a wet floor or that, and if you drop anything, boy does that object shatter. I like vinyl better, harder to keep clean but with the new vinyl floors now they are beautiful. I would choose vinyl over ceramic, but that is just my opinion.
confused about company categories....
I know what a large national is, I know what an MTSO is, but I don't understand what a 'small national' is. Is this the same as an MTSO??
I haven't been in the biz an awfully long time, but from what I've been able to gather, an MTSO/small national is the way to go.
Happy 2006!
There are a lot of categories you probably aren't thinking about
All of the stuff posted in below of course but your spell checker, computer depreciation, misc office supplies like pens, paper, etc. I deduct individual business phone calls (cell and home phone), part of my antiivirus software costs, etc. If you use it for work chances are at least a portion of it is deductible.
I still cant see the categories on the side and I have no clue what happened.

I have vinyl but I think ceramic tile looks nicer.

POLL: Off subject - Ceramic tile or vinyl
I recenly bought a big house that has carpet in the kitchen. I want to take the carpet out but don't know if I should go for ceramic tile or vinyl flooring. Any suggestions?
Ceramic tile, but who puts carpet in a kitchen?

Same here! Love it. No bells or whistles or categories. Easy! nm

Highest pay is anything you get paid. They still owe me
.
All I can say is make sure you have the highest - sm
Kbps modem available, 56?. That is what I use, the highest connection I can get is 44. If I get lower than that I just disconnect and try again until I get that or at least 33. Even if you do get satellite, most companies don't allow that anyway, so it's DSL, cable or no job. DSL is so close to me now, but I still don't have it, a friend has it who is 6 miles from me, but I don't, something to do with the towers (though I have 1 about 1.5 miles from me). What I find funny is Verizon offering high-speed DSL that is only 756 Kbps, that is not much faster than I get now with dial-up, makes me wonder a bit about it, thought DSL was faster than that, or are there different levels of DSL like dial-up connections? Anyway, I feel your pain, all I can say is try to find a job that uses FTP, has a 24 hr. TAT, and then it does not matter what type of connection you use. My daily downloads take anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on the size of my voice files, don't matter though. I don't see why it matters to any MTSO what you have since usually you are working on a file while another is downloading, there ususally is no downtime due to the length of the download other than that first one. Whatever.
35 years here and highest 8
NM
20+ years here and still the highest offered
Consider yourself lucky if you've been offered more than 8 cpl for an MTSO. Now your own accounts is a different story. I make way more with my own accounts.
Its the highest rate I have heard of for IC work
I have not heard of rates that high where I live (Tampa, FL.) The highest I have heard for IC work is 12/13 cpl and thats pretty rare!
If thats pretty common in your area then dont back down, but around here that would be considered very high.
Hope it all works out!
Perhaps vacuuming is your highest calling in life...

I think Medtrans Unlimited pays the highest sm
They are in Austin,TX. Once at six months, it is 1.70 per regular minute and 2.12 a stat minute. On lines accounts it is .08 reg, .10 stat gross line. The company is strict and picky, and the software technical. However, you can easily make $1,000 a week there.
I would contact your highest in command. A medical
record is a legal document and could potentially contain info that would contribute to a life/death situation. If I were in a position of authority she would be gone yesterday.
AOL lists today that MT is one of highest WAH jobs!!
Look at the model they used...that's sure what the average MT looks like! LOL

Doubting this seriously myself. Even the highest producers here don't crank it out that fast. nm

You are taking it literally, which is not what I meant. I would rather not pay the highest price
out there, as I'm on a budget.
How much is the highest/lowest pay for an MT working in CorTmedical? Kindly reply.
I'm just curious to know how much do they pay an MT who just started working with them. Thanks.
That should highest paid work at home jobs...look at number 7 to see the pic and listing!
That picture sure made me laugh. :)
My favorite speciality is the office who dictates it and pays the highest line rate.
It's the money, honey, that matters to me.
Lowest runs $900 week, highest $1400 week (sm)
Get paid 12 CPL. Been doing transcription for about 12 years.
