I talked to the MQ MT lawyers. They promised it would take time to gather evidence.

As any professional deserves to be paid for their time, so do lawyers. They spent years in college while you probably were doing MT work typing someone else's words and ideas. Lawyers go to school to develop knowledge of the law and ideas of their own. Now on the other hand, you seem to have no problems with the CEO(s) of MQ jeopordizing your job by illegal billing of clients all the while bonusing himself and his cronies at your expense.
With all due respect you are full of it.

There is NOTHING to post! The boards were trolled for a long time by the lawyers AGAINST MQ, looking
for any lame info in a very unprofessional (not to mention unethical) manner. They used us and left. Now the law suits are in the "discovery process", where both sides are gathering info, where they can then decide whether to proceed forward or not. No news at all for us MTs. Again, the $$-hungry lawyer(s)? were all over this board months back, stirring up the pot, begging us for info, and then VANISHED!
well this is all i could gather
i know this isn't much, but i have never ever come across an american MT site that did not have a link somewhere for employment, and this one does not anywhere, and in fact clearly states they will only basically return inquiries from potential clients. Uh, where are they getting their MTs? I have never heard of this company or seen a single job ad for them anywhere. They can probably write the contract up, but my guess is that they may not hire offshore MTs, but they offshore to a company that does. I am still looking....
I gather this is LD (sm)...
If you have a Win 2000 or XP computer around, you can convert it to a dial-in dictation system much less expensively than a Bytescribe system.
A 4-line Orator Pro "kit" (software and phone board) will run you $1700, which isn't too bad. Unfortunately, when you want more lines the price goes up far more precipitously than can be justified by the cost of a phone board that handles more phone lines. Their 8-line "kit" will run you $3400, or double the price of their 4-line "kit". Since this can't be justified by the difference in price between a 4-line board and an 8-line board, it's puzzling. Then the price doubles again to move up to 16 lines, again with no justification based on phone board pricing, so it gets twice as puzzling.
Fortunately, there's an alternative. For $700 you can get Dial Dictate software that permits unlimited users and handles up to 32 callers simultaneously. Install the software, and then decide how many lines you want to handle. You can pick up a 4-line USB phone interface unit from Alto Edge for $260, and voila! You've got a 4-line system that's $600 less than Bytescribe's 4-line system.
In fact, by purchasing an 8-line board or a 16-line board ($500 or $880) instead of the 4-line USB unit, you would have $1200 to $1600 total investment in software and phone interface, versus $3400 and $6800, respectively, for the 8- and 16-line Bytescribe "kits".
And, of course, the Express Scribe application for transcription is free.
Check out the link below for more information on Dial Dictate software, and then click the link on the right in the box "Recommended Hardware" for information about the USB phone interface (easy as pie to use) and phone boards (almost as easy, but you have to crack the computer case open and install the board).
And if you want to move to 8 or 16 lines, you'll REALLY save money because all you need to do is pick up an 8- or 16-line phone board from the same company for about $500 or $880, respectively, for a total cost of $ - not $3400 and $6800 you'd pay to Bytescribe.
However, for about $1000, you can convert a Windows 2000 or XP system for dictation using NCH Dial Dictate software ($700) and a 4-line phone interface card (or a 4-line USB device, even easier) for $260. Even better, you can move up to 16 lines for about $600 more. Dial Dictate can handle 32 simultaneous dictators. Check it out.
Use Dial Dictate from NCH ($700) and purchase a USB 4-line phone interface from Alto Edge ($260), or one of their phone cards that goes in the computer's PCI slot - up to 16 lines for $860). The software and phone interface will cost you probably around much less than a system from Bytescribe.
You have to get as much evidence as you can as to
who is doing this to you. You assume it's the man but you have no proof and the police will need some proof to do anything.
Have you contacted the phone company about possible problems on your line? They'd surely be able to help you with that.
Next, the computer. You have 3 firewalls and someone is still getting in and stealing things? How? What program is being used to get into your computer? Figure it out and remove it. If none of this stops the problem, then format the computer. That will certainly knock out anyone who may have done something in there to allow them in without your knowledge and you'll have to start over but you will certainly be moe secure in doing it. You've obviously got a program that is allowing someone to get in and you can take care of that if you track it down, or maybe I'm too naive. Notify your internet provider of a possible problem with hackers via the internet and see if they can be of any help to clear this stuff up.
prosecutor said there is evidence
The Aruban prosecutor said they have evidence but cannot disclose it. The judge looked over what they had and decided to hold that boy for 60 more days. Seems like they know something we dont.
I gather from your post, you're concerned
about the computer. Ethically, you should not use it to do another job. Legally, if your company specifically stated not to use it for personal use (i.e. surfing the net, working another job, paying bills, etc), you should not use it. Some companies have Spyware on the computers they supply you with and can track your usage of it. Although I doubt most companies would go after you for using it to do your banking, working another job on it may be an issue. It would be best to check with your human resources dept to see what the policy is on personal use of the computer before downloading another company's platform. You may also need to take into consideration whether your present company will need to dial into your computer for any reason and see the new platform on it.
Although I wasn't working a second job on a company-provided computer, I did store my personal photos and had a couple of games on it for my kids. When I had a problem and tech support dialed in to my computer, they saw it and told me I needed to remove those items. They told me they wouldn't report me or anything, but that they are supposed to report such things and to please remove them. I did immediately and haven't added a thing to that computer since. When I started a second job (to eventually phase out the first), I bought a used computer for a while until I could afford a new one. I'm too much of a worrywart or scaredycat and didn't need something else to stress over.
I'm afraid I'd have to see the evidence for that claim. sm
It would really take all the planets being lined up to see that kind of average production among that many people.
Yeah, it would be much better if he promised them
the moon and the stars and condescendingly bought office space in Harlem.
I didn't see them living any better under a democratic administration either.
They don't want to better themselves and accept responsibility for nothing. Until their mindset changes, they will never change.
Gimme, gimme, gimme more - but it's never enough.
oh my TAT promised is 24-48 hours....sm
sorry, forgot that one part of your questions....
I was promised I would have flexibility, then NOTHING
I agree with you about the 24-hour TAT. I think some of you are misunderstanding what I expected and what I was told. I was told in my interview that their perfect candidate for at home MT was "people with small children". That came from my managers mouth! If that's the case, how can they think typing straight 8 hours a day is possible with small children in the home with you?
Furthermore, I am the lowest man on the totem pole, so I don't do STATS or anything that is very time sensitive.
My work that I do isn't usually signed off by a doc until a week or so later!
I'm not asking for 24 hours to do my work, but a split shift would be nice and they won't budge.
It doesn't help that I'm the only home MT with small kids. All the other MTs are older, with grown kids or never had kids at all.
I feel like I'm in a losing battle. I really need this job, so I do the best I can.
I know that if I could work a better shift that works for my family, my production would be even better.
Besides, the fatigue factor of typing for 8 hours straight is pretty bad.
She has probably promised a fast TAT.
It must really nice pay to put up with that sort of a schedule. :-)
Unfortunately high suspicion is not hard evidence.
I told her things to watch for and that there is an anonymous tip line she can report them to if they are getting high while driving and on the job. That tip line is more for a suspicious house though, dealer w/ cars coming and going all the time. I don't think you can call the cops and say "I think my boss is on drugs and hires tweekers" and they will be able to do anything about it without warrants or other solid proof.
I was looking at the laws about drug testing in the workplace, and the message I got was that the little guy might as well forget it, leave drug testing to bigger companies, and to be really careful about how you go about it if you do test. Not to mention alcoholics, who have a "disease." The BBB doesn't handle this type of complaint, either.
YOU gather up his belongings and throw them out your window onto the curb, or in the driveway, or
wherever. Down to the last razor blade! It is highly unlikely that your husband will gather all of Loser Dude's belongings and bring them back into your house. Dude will gather up his Loser Belongings and find another place to be a hospitality sucking leach. (leech?) Good riddance. Just DO it! And if you have one molecule of sympathy in your brain for this Loser, then you need to go to therapy. You have gone above and beyond the call of duty, nice lady.

How do these RN's get out of HIGH SCHOOL without being able to read?
if i were being promised things that weren't being followed through, i'd hit the road. sm
i agree on the decreasing the bonus but maybe they didn't have as productive of a year this year or didn't clear as much in their pocketbooks as they would like, lol. i technically think all companies should give something; after all, a gift is a tax write off anyway. better to give to those busting our tails for them rather than uncle sam. i haven't gotten anything but cards in the last 3 years so i am used to it by now and don't expect it but i would definitely be grateful even for a meal gift card or anything for that matter.
I made $17 an hour when I worked there. I also was promised a raise
but never saw it nor did I get an answer from mgmt when I asked. I quit. Most editors I know make between $15-$18 with MQ
lawyers
i'm thinking about doing the same thing as well before I cash the check. I could use the money now, but I want to be assured that they're not doing something underhanded again!!
I have seen so many lawyers who are
supposedly reputable who sit on cases until statutes run out and get it in at the last minute.
Yours sounds like one of that type and so sorry you got him, but you can file a complaint with your state legal society or whatever your state calls it. This is not a new happening with lawyers. I don't know how much he charged you, but I would request some of that money back being as you paid him based on the fact that you were going to be the one filing for divorce and because he sat on it, you became the respondent to that divorce action. As far as your car, that can be amended, but it brings additional attention to this item if he wants to fight it, but you need to get it done. Just take yourself to another attorney, tell him the reason you want to switch, and see if he can request attorney's fees from your husband being as he is the one who filed first and initiated the divorce proceedings.
You might ask him about how to handle the current lawyer situation, but most lawyers do not like to go against other lawyers in their town or city. That is something they really hate to do, so your best bet there is to call your state's disciplinary board for lawyers.
All the lawyers I called said
this was not a big case in the sense that a) I didn’t die, b) I was not disfigured in any way and so forth. They said it was not a big enough case and that basically elective surgery and juries would not be sympathetic with me.
One from MQ, and in it a letter addressed from the lawyers
I am just afraid the rug is going to be yanked completely from under us, and I have no plan B. The changing of management, no raises, and losing accounts is nothing new, but my biggest fear is being sold and being at the mercy of a lower pay plan, worse rules, etc., i'm comfy where I am.
I consulted several lawyers, all told me the same
that in essence, I had brought this on myself as it was elective. I must have called 10 or so, same story. You know, this did not break me financially - hurt me that I felt the pressure not to press forward with recouping my money and then for him to dictate it just like it was all done. I probably more than likely have discarded any materials pertaining to this in years past as I told my present hubby just wanted to let it go. What goes around comes around is the way I look at things. Thanks
I totally agree, it reminds me of lawyers. nm
x
You're in such close contact with the lawyers - ask them what many of us did. I owe you no
explanation. The rest of us MTs who went above and beyond "giving our name and email", well, they know what I'm referring to, and that's all that matters to me. Obviously, you're just naively into looking at MQ as the "big bad monster". Believe me, I thought the same way back when, but really jump into the pool and you'll see that things are not quite always as they seem! The suit by the 3 employees - nothing to do with DEP platforms, etc, whole different story than all would have us believe - as in the lawyers. Most of us who were very involved months ago are now just sitting back, seeing where the ride takes us. Very simple really. And if you had been more involved than even you acknowledge, you wouldn't be the LONE poster here, cheering on the lawyers against MQ. Have you noticed per chance you're like the lone voice? As opposed to months ago when there were TONS of voices on your side? Have you begun to wonder WHY we're all silent now? There is so much more to this story than what you are reading. But, I have 100% faith that you'll get where the rest of us are eventually...
I think the best of MQ is over. With the horrendous amount of money going to lawyers and what it
will cost to pay these hospitals that they bilked will be millions and millions. There is no way there is going to be money made with MQ anymore without a tremendous amount of aggravation. I think they will sell out or merge. My office is closing and they told the clients either get on DQS or find another MT company so they are moving on rapidly to something and not sure what. I think they are getting their ducks in a row.
You might try cleaning for MDs or lawyers, might make more money :)
x
Personally, I think lawsuits only give lawyers more money
nm
DH and I used to clean lawyers' offices for supplemental income. sm
Made good money. They were very appreciative folks and even gave us a $100 tip at XMAS time. Mind you, we were working for a contractor. Would have made more if we were the contractor. No shame here.
You're welcome! Start dealing with some lawyers, and they make MQ look nice!
I know - me too - I talked to
she said things are just as crazy in Canada now days as they are in the States...though they are stressed over our hurricane/new orleans situation a lot.
But prices of land and housing are just as bad there as here - |

Medical Transcriptionist - Penticton Regional Hospital - OKS-FAC-05-105
Employer: Interior Health – We want our patients to have the best possible care and that means we need the best possible people.
Location: Penticton, British Columbia
You probably should have talked to tax guy
x
Last I talked to them and
talked to somebody who worked there, the pay was only about 7 cents a line and the software/system was not very efficient.
HEY JUST TALKED TO KEN OR RAO OR WHOEVER
Wow, had problems with messages everytime I GOOGLED about computer shutting down since McAfee deal. Well great, doing personal things tonight, do not want to show them that, thought needed another puter, this happened before some malware virus, they gave me another POS. Anyhow, we got chatting and I asked him about India, blah, blah, but dang (insert poopy cacca here) I think he was Indian. No kidding, the more we chatted, I bet they are instructed not to hold a real conversation. I worked for an Indian doctor, recognize the accent. I wonder where I really called. I called on my cell phone, only phone I have now, so it better not be overseas. Wow. He was talking about Obama helping us, blah, blah, blah. I am niave a lot, it took a while, but he was our enemy! This stinks
I also talked to payroll and they
are the ones who told me it was a live check. It is not direct deposit.
Sorry to hear that, have you talked to your
supervisor (or do you even have one in this MQ mess)? I am relatively certain my accounts won't be changed, if so then I will have another issue to deal with. I'm hoping for the best cause I REALLY hate to change jobs, but I'm not really expecting it!! I sympathize/empathize with you!! I have heard Transcription Solutions is supposed to be a pretty good company, they usually have an ad on the board. I will be thinking of you.
I have talked to their recruiter and liked her a lot. sm
I would like more information though as the archives give me a very mixed impression. My email is above. I just do not want to make a move without knowing that it will be better, not the same or worse. Right now, I am with MQ.
Thank you.
Have you talked with your supervisor?
Every national I've ever worked for has assigned me a secondary or tertiary account so I never run out of work.
I talked to this really nice guy
I now wish I would have wrote his name down. They let me set up a plan, but I had to agree to the amount they set for me to pay each month, which is high for me, but at least I know it will be gone in 5 years, well now 4.
yes, I have talked with support
and they had tried it on several computers with vista and there were a few minor gliches but it caused problems. The place where I purchased it will offer me 3/4 credit or full credit (waiting to hear the final word) towards a software purchase if I need it. It is a dell so they can do all the work once I am able to connect to the internet after installing the CD software. the company I am looking to go with says that it might be compatable next month with vista (my luck) but I don't want to miss the boat of getting a position. The company though will let me know what they think the best thing is to do. Always something to think about...
Talked about many times
There are ups and downs to both sides. I have my own accounts have been doing it for 20+ years -- cannot believe it. Start small even with tapes, I still do nothing but tapes, and printing and delivery. I have small clinics, two doctor clinics, 3 of them. I do not charge as much as the others but I charge gross line and so I think it all works out to be about the same. I can make up to $50 to $75 an hour at times. But average $40. That includes throwing in the time for printing and delivering so that is my average. My accounts hae been with me for 8 to 20 years. I stay with the tapes as it is easier to not be undercut. But again start small, send out flyers, brochures to doctors, clinics, podistrists, psychologists, chiropractors, etc. You have to be persistent. How many people look at a house before there is an offer. I used to do mailings about every 3 to 6 months when looking for a new account as you have to be at the right place at the right time when they need someone. Cons --But then remember, there is no one to take your place when you are sick or your child is sick so do not over extend. They might be understanding the first time but when it happens often, they are not. Vacations need to be planned out, I take a couple of long weekends, 4-5 days rather than a week at a time. It is hard to get someone to cover and be dependable. It is your name and reputation out there. Your work will always be there in your home, sometimes you just want to run away from it. But the pros are there also. You can make good money, you can make your own hours as long as the work gets done. It takes time and persistence and start out small so you can build a good reputation. Good luck.
I talked to my chiropractor (sm)
and he said that new graduates (probably medical school ones also) are being told that Medicare/Medicaid won't pay for claims that aren't EMR genrated by 2014 and as early as 2009. Thus several new doctors are starting right off the bat with this type of program.
EMR is a fact of life, the touch screen programs are being touted highly for doctors who perform the same type of procedures over and over and several hospitals and large clinics are making the switch.
I woke up this morning and decided to go back to school and finish getting nursing degree. I don't think it's too far-fetched to be realistically concerned about MT being phased out.
I'm the one who talked to him (see message)
Well, emailed back and forth with him actually, and he told me he needed a GROUP that could commit to 5000 lines/day.
He apologized in his email to me for any confusion he caused by posting on this board. I don't think he realized the Job Seeker's Board is for individuals seeking positions and not for MTSOs seeking clients.
a company I talked to said it was not...
she said it was the anti-AAMT; a new group that was against offshoring.
Have you talked to soldiers who have been in Iraq?
I have. I was told that we definitely needed to be in Iraq, that the job was far from being done. I was also told that our soldiers would be in less danger now if the U.N. were not imposing so many restrictions on what they have been able to do. The technology used to protect them costs money, yet we want to yah-yah over what is being spent. Wars are horrible, but they will always be a reality. I will not even argue about whether what Bush is doing is the best that can be done, but I know there are more minds working on the problem than just his, and we do not know, and probably will never know what is really going on. We only know what the media lets us know, and how reliable is that?
In the letter sent out by MQ it talked about the new pay plan for SEs and also a
comprehensive benefit package. I thought legally self employed were not allowed by law to be offered benefits. MQ had started a benefit package with health insurance many years ago long before Philips and were told by the government to stop because it is not allowed by law. Does anyone have any thoughts on what this means. I personally prefer buying my own health insurance etc and not tying it to how many lines need to be typed to keep insured with the ups and downs of work all the time.
If you talked to payroll, they must have told you what it was for. What was it for? nm.
nm.
talked to an atty about the MQ checks
Nope, go ahead and cash them as I already have. If they had anything to do with ANY kind of settlement, it would clearly have to say so. It just says adjustment, period. He also said that since the class actions go over many different platforms dating back before the days of DQS, no way it could be a settlement.
Go shopping he told me, it does not state anywhere it's a settelment. He says just like any other legal document, "by signing the below or cashing this, you are giving up your right to yada yada yada.
Talked to a transcription company
yesterday that only pays 7 to 7.5 cpl and has not raised that in years, does not plan to now.
Ditto. Just talked about this yesterday
children spending way too much time indoors online, not active.
I had this happen too! Even talked to the guy on the phone...
He tells me he'll have me test. Never sends the test. Calls me again says he'll have me test the next day. Again, no test. Haven't heard from him since. Wouldn't test for him even if I do. Wasted 2 days that I could have worked waiting on someone, who couldn't keep their word.
I talked to my supe and she said the same thing.
She then said that some people can make 1800 lines a day on that account so it can be done but I guess not by me. I have to work from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to get it all in and I do not want to have to work like that. Too much computer time makes me cranky.
yuppers -- and that she'd talked to the person and would do so again (sm)
It took me a while to realize that particular supervisor quite simply lied ... often ... about things great and small ... she even lied about me ...
I've found this business is full of "special" friends, special cases ... I do my best not to notice or care any more.
