I see what you are saying, but....

last year I was given a 1099 with the correct name on it.  When researching the other company, it is not in good standing and is dissolved.  I just have this feeling that something funny was going on.  Lots of people manipulate taxes to pay the least amount possible and I'm thinking maybe they thought they get by with this with me. 

Who knows, but I do like the corrected idea and it should not have the same tax # on it because the businesses do totally completely different things.
