I read a local newspaper article about sm
a high school girl started making money at home by converting VCR to DVD. Her grandmother wanted to convert some family stuff, she found out what equipment needed, bought it for grand daughter and off she went. Posted ads on various websites and wants to go full time. Shoot I even thinking. Just have not googled yet to find out what equip. needed/costs etc.

Go to www.bitdefender.com and use their online scanning. It is very good. If you've got anything, it will get rid of it. Highly recommended.

I agree...much motivation there. I have tried to quit numerous times in the past and did successfully quit when I was pregnant for the first time many years ago but I have never managed to summon up the strength or resolve to stay quit. Thus the "need" for a financial investment in my efforts. It somehow makes it more motivational to know that I have $$$ invested in this effort over and above the $$$ saved on cigarettes.
You have to understand though this site averages only around 100 online
users at any given time whereas most companies especially nationals have thousands of employees and/or ICs.
So statistically speaking, these comments (good and bad)represent a very small amount of the national MT population. To me, it seems like the same folks over and over.
I use this site as a guide NEVER as a Bible.
I wouldn't trade being an at-home full-time MT for anything. There are just too many positives that outweigh the negatives.
Any ICs pay their taxes quarterly online at the IRS site?
I am thinking of doing it and just wondered how well it worked. Can you also pay your state and SE taxes there too? It really wasn't very clear online, at least to me.

I totally agree with you that this makeup is great for all the basic purposes (coverage, lasting), but their slogan is "Makeup so healthy you can sleep in it." There is a delay in time between when you can apply your powder after moisturizer, but it is really worth it.
To go with your powder I recommend the "pump brush" offered at some of the cosmetic online stores. You fill the handle with your powder mixture (I mix two different powders, changing it up or down according to how much sun I've been getting) and the pump brush will distribute some to the bristles, tap and have at it! This is great for carrying it with you to minimize the loss into the lining of your handbag!
I cannot recommend Bare Minerals enough. I used to be a MAC convert, and have tried everything from Chanel to Maybelline--this product does not disappoint.

This is the way the ad is listed. The FT M-F job was my job. The weekend job was the one the other Transcriptionist left in December (she graduated from nursing school).
This is copied directly from their ad in the nearest "major metropolitan newspaper".
It's mean of me, but imaging how much work the three remaining MTs must be trying to handle does give me a little bit of comfort. They wanted the office to themselves - well, by golly, they got it!

I just sent an article to my local newspaper asking them to use some of the things from this posting to hopefully make people aware of their personal info possibly being sent to India. It may be a small step, but like Lillybelle said, if we could get this started, maybe we can make a change.

The Sunday paper in my area had an article on headphones and the 3 that were compared were Bose,Sennheiser, and Clear Harmony. They basically said that Sennheiser has the best quality of sound and blocks noise the best. They are all very expensive but if you go online to E-Bay there are new ones listed that are about half-price. I have been looking at the Sennheiser, but like you, I have a very small head. The ones I use now I bought at Radio Shack. They also have very competitive headphones. Good luck.

Okay, wanna wait six months for your CABG? You'd be dead. I do see that as a problem, don't you. I am sure there are Canadians who love it, just as I am certain there are those who don't. I would like to know where you got that 5% statistic from, though. I don't mean that as a smart aleck remark. I really would like to know if that is the case. Can you point me in a direction that would verify that?
not sure this will exactly help you, but there was an article in my local newspaper this a.m. sm
that was stating a local doc got in trouble by the board and in part of his requirements it was required for him to use a transcription/dictation service. part of what he got in trouble for was failure to have an H&P on file and proper documentation. it states - for one patient dr. so and so failed to document basic information, including an H&P and treated the patient with excess of 50 narcotic pain medication injections for headaches. yeah, way to go boards!!!!! i'm gonna contact them and see if they need my services, LOL!

for any kind of stories related to identity theft resulting from offshore medical (or other) records is a start. Another angle would be to look for info. from editors on specific instances (Pt. privacy respected, of course!) where offshored or even US bargain-basement transcription came back with errors that could have caused injury or legal action.
GOT A RESPONSE ON THE LETTER TO OBAMA FROM 1 NEWSPAPER - Not Sure What to Do
It is just a small town paper, asking some general questions about outsourcing/offshoring, pay, types of businesses, etc. I told him I could not tell him what I actually do for a living or name my company. Can he find that out?
I also sent the letter to the Washington Post, Fox News, NY Times, Associates Press, 60 Minutes, and USA Today. I inserted in the letter about uncertain figures that by my calculation, the number of jobs offshored would be more or less the equivalent to the total population in 3 states in the U.S.
What will I do if they find out who I am and who I worked for? Can I be sued?
It is so easy to post a letter on a newspaper editorial or magazine. Everybody write one.
If you have a story to tell - get busy. Go to news shows, magazines, newspapers. It is so easy. Talk about the MT business or about the whole offshore process and its cost to the U.S. Any and everything written only solidifies our total point of view. GO TO whitehouse.com for sure. Changes are that he is not even aware of what is going on and is semi-comatose or full coma. Hopefully, the hospital will keep him comfortable. My father-in-law went so fast that the nursing home couldn't give him enough morphine to keep him comfortable (even though he was basically not awake we could tell he was experiencing discomfort), they legally couldn't dispense enough and it was evening. They were going to call Hospice in the morning but he passed away before that could be done. Hopefully, the hospital will have the ability to keep this man comfortable.

for two reasons. Not the electricity, but the fact that if you are always running, you leave yourself more open to someone trying to compromise your computer. the second reason is that even though you may be set to receive updates on antivirus, etc. sometimes those updates need you to reboot in order for them to take effect. in fact, most of them do. If you are always running, your updates are never taking effect. The minor mini-surges at start up do NOT put wear and tear on your computer. they were DESIGNED for shut down and restart. geez. better get new techies!

They've forced many of our ERs to shut down
a regular doctor's office. So the few that are left are full to bursting. Once when I had a medical emergency, the ambulance couldn't take me to the closest ER because they had no room, instead we drove FOREVER to a far-away hospital, and still I had to wait a long time out in the hallway. Right now I would say 80% of the people being treated on the account I type for are Mexican and don't speak English. So the hospital has to pay for full-time, professional translators to accompany these people at office visits. And it's no surprise that a large number of them came here illegally.
Shut the h*** up. I make $75K a year doing this with BIG nationals.
I get full benefits. I'm not gutless in any way and I'm NOT having my "rights" taken away from me.

Been there, still go there sometimes. It took me a long time to just focus on the work, because at first I thought, "This is so coooool! I don't have to actually go to work. I think I'll go make brownies and come back to it later." WRONG!
Had to make myself a schedule, as the kids were getting packaged brownies and the dishes were never done. It's tough at the beginning to and when I started a year ago nobody was home. Then school got out and I realized I had forgotten to factor in the summer part, which was a nightmare! "Mama! You're not WORKING, ARE YOU?" Ended up starting at 4:00 a.m. and then working again after everyone was settled in bed.
Now I'm back on schedule. Good luck. 
PS--one more thing and then I'll shut my mouff!
Someone said something about not allowing this poor dog to get the exercise he needs out doors. My dog gets PLENTY of exercise. He is not overweight, and we play with him every single night of the world--he's a big part of our lives. He chases balls and toys and we play probably at least 30 minutes to an hour every night of the world, so a dog (particularly a small one like this) does not have to go outside to get any exercise. Thanks for listening/understanding.

the problem. Where I came from, that's the kind of person they wanted - a little mouse who kept her head low, flew under the rader, and just typed, typed, typed. And preferably did not get sick, eat, or go to the bathroom very often! The people who saw problems and/or solutions were a huge THREAT to the managers, who wanted their own managers to think that they knew what they were doing, & 'had everything under control'. And they were scared that the people who spoke up might embolden all the mice. The only way the MT disgrace in this country will ever have a chance of getting better (and maybe our medical records banned from going offshore!) is if MTs speak up LOUDLY, and bring this problem to the attention of the whole country.
