I don't play the dictation back though. I just read it to make sure no mistakes are in it.

OK! I'm glad you're back down here. Now don't go back up there and read those evil posts ag
Okay? But I have to leave you now, sadly. Thousands of noble dictating doctors are anxiously awaiting my help with their "dictations"....They're all loading up on chips, drinking lots of soda so they can burp, and then have to go to the bathroom...You know the routine! Off I go to earn some pennies!! But, truly, I am thankful that I have a job!
No, they don't read every report that goes
through. However, they do make strong recommedations for hospitals to follow and do conduct audits every few years of hospital records. You transcribe whatever however the facility wants you to transcribe it, however most hospitals follow Joint Comission rules and recommendations.
And I guess they go thru and read every report, looking
x
In 8 hours? Were you able to read over the report before you sent it
or did you just correct it and send it on?
You can go back and check the report if you know your job number.
Do F5 choose detail report type, put in dates you want to search and press run report, then click on the job number you want and under job view choose user output. This is the way it looks when it goes to the client. Hope this helps.
can't you just hang up on a report and call back in?

Read the report backwards from end to finish. Works great for me.
I just read about the system. Nothing about seeing your counts, but you do get a report card. geez
I do the same thing. Then when the report is finished, I scan back through
the whole report to make sure I didn't leave any stop code markers behind, and listen to each blank once again.
Please tell me I am not alone. Just got a report back where I made a MAJOR mistake. (sm)
I normally try to be very, very careful, but I don't know what happened, but it did.
Feeling a little shaken regarding my skills and attention span right now.
Please tell me I am not the only one who has made an error and had the client send the report back.
Does Word 2003 do cumulative line counting or does it go back to 0 with each report. nm
:
ok I went back and re-read your post.
You have 2 toddlers who need daycare.
You have a teen (the childsupport)
You have $350 roomie but that + disappears with his costs of living there. and I would be scared to count on it.
You have $9500 CC bill which that payment is probably about $200 a month.
At $42,000 that is not solid money - it is PT monies.
1. Can the BF come up with his probable court-ordered child support of at least $1000 a month?
2. Do you make car payments?
3. How much is your student loan payment - and for how much longer?
4. Do you have a degree in something? Should you stay in transcription?
5. Can you make the house payments if the BF finks out on the child support in 2 years if your 16 yo moves out and gets married and doesn't attend college?
6. You will be at an expensive time in your life with the 1 and 2 YO/ who will then be 3 and 4 years old by then and still needing day care.
7. A house is expensive upkeep. And much energy.
I agree with the others. Don't jump the gun here. Take care of one thing at a time. Get yourself into a situation where you won't be stressed if there comes a blip in the road - like you break your arm - or the car tears up - or you need an emergency root canal - one of the kids breaks a leg and you need to stay home. There are a million things.
I would rent, move BF out, get childsupport started from him to see how that goes, re-look at the budget.
when the FT job comes around, and if you feel it is the one for you and they are good for the money, then look at the house. You must live for you, not the 16 YO.
By then you will have your FT monies coming in, the child support coming in, you will know what your extra income is, you will have all your insurances in place and leave time built up, and a house may be good by then. Also, the market is overvalued right now. They are saying people buying right now may be buying things that won't be worth what they paid for them in a year.
Do you have any family you could stay with at all for 6 months. You need some breathing space, girl.
Again, good luck.
First off, go back and read your post sm
and grade yourself. Start out by paying attention to what needs to be capitalized in your post. I see at least 11 areas. I see a word that should be plural instead of singular. One sentence is not a complete sentence. Maybe you need to go over these sections in your course again. They are generally in the very beginning.
MICHELLE!! GET BACK DOWN HERE! OH NO! YOU'VE READ THEM!
Its too late, but come back down here and laugh. Don't read the ugly posts! They're not there - they are not really there - they don't exist, nor does the ugly poster!!
Is there a way to get a read receipt back from someone who has web mail?
I seem to only be able to see if someone has actually opened up a mail I have sent with a read receipt attached if they have certain types of e-mail accounts. Is there a universal way I can do this from my Outlook Express? Thank you for any input here!
You better go back and read the ORIGINAL post again -
What a self-righteous
be-** ch.
No, don't! This is fun! If you go away, I'll be too tempted to go back up and read those UGLY
posts. I just know that then I will be rather more than irritated! If I read them...I can tell they're horrible...But if we're here, talking about warm milk, and who is who, and why is why, then none of us will have to go back UP and read those...other posts!!
POLL - Are you read for your kids to go back to school? (sm)
Yes and no is the answer for me. I love them home with me (11 and 13), but am ready to have the nice quiet house to myself for work.
Doctors should read final report as they are final say if

You do not need the 1099. You just need to report the income. Report the company/person ...sm
to the IRS for not sending out the 1099.
I charge the same amount for a "normal" report as for any other report.
You still have to listen to the dictation and change anything that's different. I had one woman try to pull this on me. She'd dictate, "Just pull up my normal, but change this, change that, switch that around, move that, add this, delete that, and change the other." Then she'd only want to pay me what equated to $.03 per line. She wanted 1:1 on her dictation to transcription ratios. I told her to take her cheap account down the road because I'm worth more than that.
Oh, a report just came in. A report actually just slid in, can you believe it. Hip Hip Hooray. I
had better get that sucker typed before it gets out of ONE MINUTE TAT.
If you are careful with putting the correct report in the correct report shell and patient, you will
not have any problems. I only take away this option when someone is careless. There can be NO room for error on this. One mistake can be very serious. Many do it well though, so just double check and you will be fine.
In 12 years of MT'ing I've never re-read an entire chart. Edit/read as I type. nm

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case
you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:
My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.
****
How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream. I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!
With short arms, I need chair with shallow seat, good back support and high back. Want arm rests
:+
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.
I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.
Oh I've read that site and continue to read it...sm
I agree...much motivation there. I have tried to quit numerous times in the past and did successfully quit when I was pregnant for the first time many years ago but I have never managed to summon up the strength or resolve to stay quit. Thus the "need" for a financial investment in my efforts. It somehow makes it more motivational to know that I have $$$ invested in this effort over and above the $$$ saved on cigarettes.
Who had time to read?LOL I only get a chance to read This Old House once in a while. (nm)

I didn't read the other posts but just read this
My daughter got pregnant at 17, said she wanted an abortion but BF didn't. I have a wonderful 2-1/2 yo grand daughter that I don't think I could live without...and now, guess what? I don't. I have custody of her. She was dropped off on my door, I got court ordered temporary custody and final custody hearing in a month.
I'm single with no family support. I had just taken a new MT job one month before this happened and they have been wonderful during my adjusting to being a mom again and I hope I can resume a normal schedule by next week.
I'm passing no moral judgments or giving moral advice. The situation is what it is. My prayers are with everyone involved.
Definitely an eye-opening read. Having my teens read it, too. nm

I would not do them back to back - I have done 2 and 3 jobs at the same time -- all PT - sm
It is possible to do of course but you will burn out fast. Now I do one almost FT (about 30 hours a week) and the other is about 8-10 hours a week-- I still get beat doing that and that is w/o set hours. I find that the older I get the harder it is to work late and I am only 40! But a mid afternoon 30-minute cat nap helps a lot in order to keep going on busy days.
How do you set your computer back 1 day. I messed something up and need to go back 1 day.
NM
Yes, you get back to work now. Go back to
some routine, and it does start to hurt less. I know And remember, she is still there at work with you. Always will be. I figure at this point I have a whole herd of loved dogs under my desk each day - along with a couple horses, hamsters, parakeets, rabbits...If only I could see them - must be quite a happy zoo! But I know they are all there I sense their love.
Yes...Every Report
I have to admit, I proofread EVERY SINGLE REPORT. But I always have gone for overkill, and I am new. My one and only QA score was 98%. While I am proofreading (long reports), I sometimes stand up and stretch, or run and grab a snack or lunch so I don't feel like it is so much a waste of time. I suppose I will have to get to the point where I don't proofread every report, or I will never make any money! I may have to rethink my strategy if and when MQ increases their line quota for part time employees. Rumor has it at 8,000 lines per pay period, and I am only managing 6,000 and working long hours just to do that. Got to figure SOME way to speed up!
report
I get paid per report, $1.30, includes all accessions/requisitions -
for instance in one report if doc says this is an MRI of the Head, neck and 3d multiplanar I get 1.3 for each. I use Shorthand and I have eight years experience. I do anywhere from 80-120 reports a day.
There was a report in AL, I think, that there was
a live alligator swimming around the flood waters there in one area. The newscaster kept saying it was live and nobody would come out and was avoiding that area until it disappeared. It's probably waiting somewhere quietly for its next dinner to walk by.
Two of my accounts are in New Orleans and I have typed hundreds of patients with abscesses that tested positive for MRSA over the last few months. The way the city is now cannot be helping this at all. A few of the docs I do are automatically treating for MRSA now w/o getting the culture report just because they've seen so many cases.
right! Fox would report a
That would be real news there.
No, the woman bought a LOUIS VUITTON with the money she got
(debit card).
ONE report probably
so they will need to add more MT's...LOL! I feel for all of you.
Per Report
The highest I have heard of anyone paying per report is $2 with most paying less than that. Hope that helps.
Pay by report?
Hi, all: I've been getting my own small clients here and there, and I've had a request for a proposal to radiology reports for a small radiology group. Their current vendor is charging them by report, not line. Anyone have any idea what to charge by report? I've done some calculating with regard to average lines per report, and I'm thinking of offering to do it for $3 per report. Any idea if this is too high or too low??? Any input is appreciated........
Per report
Working as an IC you should be charging $2 per report, that is what I charge my clients. Good Luck!!!
I saw a report that said . . .
Heart rate 80 permanent. Do ya think he said per minute?
Report changes
Has anyone ever had someone go in and change your reports? I don't mean change a small word or the wording of a sentence. I am talking about taking out information and putting in information that the doctor did not dictate, making the report incorrect for the patient's records? I found this happening to my work and need information on the legal ramifications, as well as how to handle this.
report changes
I work at home for a service, but not as an IC. I found work changed by having a temporary copy on file - then the QA changes/corrections - and then relistened and found changes made that affected the whole report, different medications, different procedures and PMH, etc. Information that will probably one day go on to another physician that is incorrect and that I did not transcribe, but with my initials on the report. Of course, I realize that once the physician signs it that the liability is on him, but it's just inconceivable that someone would do this. I saw this happen one other time when I worked in house and one Transcriptionist didn't like another one and this was done in order to try and get the disliked employee fired. However, it did not involve my work then. I keep thinking that MTs all think ethically and with a legal obligation to the patient, but I know in reality that to some it is just a job. I am tetering on talking to the company and/or the account manager, especially since I have everything in black and white - the first report - the QA corrections - the changes to the report after it came back to me, etc. I'm just looking for some guidance on how to handle the situation.
I had one report from one md....sm
I had one MD last week that had this dinging sound throughout his report......I hit no key accidentally or held a key down. This was on the dictator's side, this dinging noise.....
$1.20 per report
ask what are the margins, font, length of reports for per page or gross lines
also what do you mean by "plus paid for links?" is this something additional that you do for the report?
$1.20 per report
I have been offered $1.30, $1.50, $1.75 to $2.00 per page depending on the average length of report.
definitely report it
That is very disturbing to me. She was very unprofessional and not that I want to know what she said, but is it something she did that should be reported to authorities?
$3-4.00 per report sm
But no one will pay that. You probably don't want to take a job typing MRIs and CTs by the report. They can get pretty lengthy. Just my 2 cents. :)
I just sent a report with ....
24 QA markers. The darn thing looked liked Swiss cheese. And it wasn't even an ESL. He was an American who could speak perfectly good English if he chose to. Instead, he slurrs entire sentences, sometimes 2 or 3 together in the same breath. I cringe every time this guy comes up on my screen and even having old reports to look at in my feedback screen doesn't help.
Okay, I'm done. Have a good evening. I'm changing into my flannel jammies and watching a movie.
