All the teeny boppers are slowly cruising around with their friends but not buying anything. People are shoving and cutting in line. I just like to get in, get my stuff, and get out.

Another good one on Guru today. Pay is $25 per AUDIO hour.
With a 30-minute unpaid AUDIO test file. It sounds as if somebody got behind on their work and needs people to do it for free or minimum wage. Egads! What cheapos! I did an AUDIO hour tape this past weekend and made $100 off it. I could have charged more since it was a weekend stat but I gave the guy a break.
Why I think we get annoyed . . .
I am starting to think that one of the reasons we may get annoyed is because we are expected to be so "perfect" in our jobs that we cannot handle imperfection from others in the "outside" world. I find I am so inpatient and annoyed when I don't get the responses I expect from others, i.e., store clerks, business offices, etc., who don't respond as quickly or in the manner I think they "should." I mean, our work is expected to be perfect, we have to be in TAT, we have so much to produce within a certain time frame, that we expect nothing less from others. Is it just me, or do you see yourself in this? Just my thoughts. Gussie

I am home just about every Saturday night though I am married, have no family in the area, and few people my husband trusts to babysit. We try to go out during the day all together and do stuff with the kids on Saturday as I usually spend Sunday working all day (yes I am working now, taking a 10 minute break though). When I was single I enjoyed going out by myself and doing things. On the rare occasion now that I go out alone and don't have a million errands to run, I enjoy myself. But you can't meet anyone if you don't go out and try, maybe one of those book stores with cafe's, or the library, etc. Of like my dad (which I wish he hadn't done but its water under the bridge) go to church one night. That is what he did and he met my, now, stepmother that way. I am not religious so I'd never do that. But my point is complaining about being home alone and dateless on Saturday night is not going to change unless get up off your butt and go out. Try it and who knows!

Well, I am new to MQ. With numbers like THAT, I guess I won't have a job unless I stop PROOFREADING my reports! I don't think I could get up to speed very quickly with macros, etc, since I am struggling to get in 6,000 per pay period, and did not even make THAT last pay period, only because there was no work on some days. I do have some phrases, etc., macroed, but with 97 doctors, I can see no way to get whole paragraphs or anything close to that in, at least not yet. I need more experience (time) to work up to 8,000 per pay period. I wonder if these requirements are going to be for new hires, or are they going to 'change' our contracts.

unemployed in the near future! You see, I have been happily married for 8 years and despite great effort on his part, he has not been able to cause many problems. My daughter has next to nothing to do with him because of the way he treats her. He really just wants to see us unhappy and in a bad situation.

I was so mad, said WHAT is going on here? Got up and listened to messages. My friend said something about praying for those people on the plane. Had no clue. Some of those things you'll never forget. BTW, used to live in NJ and always wanted to work in NY but never did.

Lasted Advance MT article
I was wondering if any of you have read the latest article in Advance about MTs? It's called The MT Critic. Color me stupid but I did not know MTs had to go to medical school to do their jobs? How many of you know the average size of the left atrium of the heart? How many of you would contradict the doctor's vital signs because the patient had a fractured ankle and you just knew that because of his pain, those vitals could not possibly be correct? It is no wonder we are not attracting qualified people to our profession. What are your thoughts?
I'm sitting here so freaking annoyed and can't stand it.
 My freaking family has got me totally upset that all I can do when I sit and think is cry. My mom came into a little bit of money and I've sat back and watched all my family members keep going and asking for money. My brother talked to my son about a truck (my son needs a truck and went and looked at this one), my brother then got the money for the truck from my mom and bought it. My other son is driving a car that has been dying for a year and is on it's final last legs but keeps driving it, hoping it doesn't die on him, while my mom goes and buys a car for my niece who has failed out of 2 years of college and is failing out of her 3rd year while working a part-time job where she can't even afford the insurance.My mom bought a new car and sold her old one to my sister for a really cheap price. ALL of this because they run over there with their hands out while I just can't lower myself to it, so I sit and cry because I watch my mom give expensive gifts to family friends for their birthday while my own son got a card, JUST a card. Perhaps it's jealousy, but more than that I'm feeling bad for my own kids (who I wish I had the money to take care of their problems) but don't run to grandma with their hands out. Both my sons work hard full-time and by the time they pay their student loans from college they don't have 2 nickels to rub together, but they won't beg grandma's money away. I'm TOTALLY proud of them for that but just find myself feeling bad that I can't do more for them and that my mom doesn't even look their way to see if she could be of help. It totally SUCKS and I'll complain here and sit and cry, but I'll never tell her how bad it makes me feel. I bend over backwards for her, ALWAYS have, and still will, even though my kids get the short end of her kindness stick.
Thanks for the place to vent! Maybe now I can stop crying and get back to work.

I so respect QA because they usually fill in all my blanks and I sometimes am in AWE of just how they do that when I relisten to all blanks several times. My one QA lady also I absolutely think is the best because she communicates so well with us.....and seeks us out to do just that and give us feedback.
Next year, I'll bet, they WILL honor QA!!!!!!! (if I have anything to say about it!!)

Great while it lasted and I was home with my kids...but
now I'm back in school too. Going for a professional degree. I own a service, so a little bit different for me because I got to have the fun of building up a business, marketing, etc. Don't think I would have been happy with just the MT work and for sure, not with the money. But my daughter never had to go to daycare and I was home when my son came home from school. That's valuable! But the end is in sight...so I will be going to school while my business can still pay me a salary.

My first lappie was a Compaq and lasted 5 years....sm
and didn't have a problem with it until it died. I traveled all over the US with it and also had it fall several times. I've been on my 2nd Compaq now for almost 2 years. That's all I'll buy!
Have used stickers, lasted awhile but not that long.
I have a Microsoft ergonomical keyboard (curved) that I have been using about three years now, and the letters are still good. However, you might want to try one of those pens that can be used to write on CDs and other metallic materials. Cheaper than buying another keyboard. As stated, the stickers worked but not for very long as I remember.

i work a split shift and find that i am much better able to stay focused and get more work done that way. also, being 3 months pregnant you have gone through the very tiring time of pregnancy and you should start seeing an energy perk before long.

my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! But this article states it would only affect new customers right now. So I am upset over nothing. I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.

Blasted cold out today. It was 104 degrees last week, but it's 40 degrees today with rain.

I wonder why you don't leave? I know all companies have their problems but isn't this a deal breaker for you? It is getting to that point with me. It is very hard to go on faith that everything will be correct. I'm struggling with the same question. I know they pay a good line rate, but if you don't get paid for all your lines is it worth it?

Have you ever heard of patient privacy? What kind of motivation did you have for Googling a patient name in the first place? There is no way you would know if you spelled it correctly from a Google unless you matched it with an SSN.
If I were your boss and you told me, I would fire you instantly just for being irrational enough to be Googling patient names. You have no business in this matter. Your physician knows something is up, so it is up to him what actions he takes from here.
We are not to judge which patients deserve privacy and which do not. You wouldn't be having this problem if you weren't doing something as questionable as Googling patient backgrounds using PHI you are only supposed to be using to transcribe the record.
Keep your mouth shut before you lose your job.

I was told by a very savvy computer geek to ALWAYS leave it on because your computer is most vulnerable to attack by hackers/viruses etc... during the first few moments of "boot up" before your anti-virus and spyware stuff have a chance to start up. That is when they "get in" - during these first few seconds without protection.
